Idk who needs this but just in case -

So coming from an art-background into modding and 3D stuff I've been aware of this tool for years but for anyone like me who doesn't have a two-monitor setup at their disposal (or would just like their references closer to what they're working on) may I introduce you toooo - Pure Ref!

Pure ref is an extremely simple imageboard/reference board software that can be set to 'always on top' so it will display over whatever software/window/etc you could possibly use.

It's really convenient cause not only can you bulk add a bunch of images if you've already got them saved (and automatically distributes them nicely) you can also just drag stuff from your internet browser straight into the window without having to save anything! (useful if you don't want a hoard of reference images just sitting in a folder).

Image collection getting chaotic? No problem, just drag-select them and you can tell Pure Ref to arrange them nicely. You can scale and rotate images within the board too.

Oh and it's FREE! Just set your custom payment to $0 or give a donation if you're so inclined :)

Some Quick Controls (You can find some of these under help - ctrl+H)

Right Click = Opens up the Menu

Right Click+Drag = Moves the Window around your screen

Middle Click = Pans the workspace around (similar to a 'hand' tool)

Scroll within window = Zoom in/out (if your mouse is not over the window it'll not be affected)

Left Click+Drag = Selection box

Left Click = Select images, it'll come up with a box around the active image with handles on the corners you can resize with

Double Click an Image = Focus on the clicked Image

Left Click+Corner Drag = Resize the Pure Ref Window

i keep seeing that post making rounds about renaming your cc with no special characters to fix your loading times, which, i haven't tried out yet but i want to! yet i keep seeing people doubting its efficacy so, if you want a solution I can confirm works wonders to run the game faster: let me redirect your attention to this mod

they aren't kidding when they say it makes the game run smoother and helps with the lag. i know personally it fixed my loading times SIGNIFICANTLY and many friends i have sent this to have confirmed me to have experienced the same. best of all? it's just a one time download!! it doesn't break with new patches and doesn't require updating

it honestly was a game changer for me and seeing there's so many people out there who also struggle with booting up their game (which, idk why i assumed it'd be a me thing) and although the installation might sound a bit confusing it's actually quite easy if you don't use any custom settings 👍

hey! i'm still thinking a lot about the minecraft movie and how much potential there is to take the plot in just about any direction - i understand why it would be impractical at best to try and make a film adaptation of the fallen kingdom saga, but that would probably be my favorite...

i've determined i will probs never play minecraft again bc the sheer amount of content, while amazing, also is overwhelming to the highest degree but gameplay videos are highly enjoyable. also since finding creativerse it just hits better and terraria is like my happy (moddable) medium.

Bums me out how video games seem to struggle to give us a simple single braid hairstyle in cc. Bg3 couldnt seem to do it, and neither can veilguard. The only single braid hairstyle in veilguard is weirdly fancy and poofy. I just want a simple long braid, going down the center of my character's back. Is that somehow too much to ask? Also would like to point out how few hairstyles qunari get. Again. I mean what we get is better than the pathetic three hairstyles qunari can have in inquisition, but still. Why do other qunari get to have their hair in a simple braid and mine cant? Why.

would y'all happen to know of any databases/collections of photos or art references of people with facial differences? maybe in the vein of FatPhotoRef (a website with self-submitted pose references with fat models)?

I'm a learning visual artist and I've found one of the best ways for me to hone some aspect of drawing is to do timed sketches from photo references. I'm going to focus on facial expression soonish and want to cover people with various facial differences as well as the typically non-facial-difference-having models on mainstream reference sites. Any resources would be appreciated--even just non-art-focused websites with lots of neutral/positive photos of people with facial differences that I can sketch!

The closest one to what you describe is probably Positive Exposure, which aims to photograph and portray all kinds of disabled people (not just visibly disabled) in a less medicalized/dehumanizing way. If you know which conditions cause facial differences then you can go through their albums and pick some of them out - there's a ton of them. The one I linked goes to their ichthyosis shoot.

Here are some other photo resources I do know of, but just be aware they might be underwhelming for what you're looking for;

Portrait Positive - focuses on women with facial and bodily differences;

HOW DO YOU C ME NOW? - focuses on people with large birthmarks;

Here I Am - focuses on adults and seniors with Down Syndrome;

About Face - focuses on people with various kinds of facial paralysis, mostly Bell's palsy

Technically my warframes would have the same problem. You see, all my warframes can move on their own in my au, so if i have decent enough build for them they can do all farming in parallel. The only caveat is the operator isnt by their side so all their ability stat would start at like, 10% or something.

Harrow / wukong / gauss farming zariman / cavia / hex bounties for endo, titania / volt farming relics, dante farming arbitration, xaku farming cambrion drift resources and void argon shard, nekros / hydroid / khora farming other rare resources, chroma farming profit taker, ivara farming conservation, sevagoth has nuke and i already modded cyte-09 / umbra / mesa's exalted weapons so they can do whatever they want. Tbh any other warframes can take a lato and farm lith relics

Maybe that setting is a bit overpowered…

Since the Operator and the Drifter are two separate, independent people with a shared arsenal of warframes and weapons, does it sometimes happen that one tries to pick the same loadout as the other, but can't because it's already in use in another mission?

Does the Operator come to the Drifter like "Lotus said it's my turn on the Xaku"?

Do they tease each other about warframe/weapon usage and builds?

"Why would you use Oberon? He's so outdated, just pick Dante instead"

"Bramma has basically no ammo, so you better hit your shots"

people complain about long-term settlements in fallout being too ramshackle, and basically looking like they were just built despite the fact that the nuclear apocalypse happened 200 years ago. "people should be building proper, long-term structures and not just building shacks out of rubble at this point" is the argument i hear, applied to places like the new vegas strip or diamond city in fallout 4.

and i don't 100% disagree, but i do feel like this logic assumes that the bombs dropping 200 years ago is the only disruptive thing that's happened in these places? "the wasteland is a living place, people should be rebuilding and not just living in rubble" <- yes, but the wasteland is also a living place filled with constant power struggles and warring factions and regime changes. maybe that city isn't what they managed to build in the last 200 years since the bombs dropped, maybe it's what they managed to build in the last 30 years since the last time they got attacked by another place and almost wiped out.

it just doesn't seem that unrealistic to me, is all, especially if you've been to areas that have been afflicted by poverty and scarcity for hundreds and years and seen that these sorts of conditions do actually exist. humans persist under all sorts of harsh circumstances.

ETA: this post got a lot more attention than i expected, and people are taking it as some bethesda fallout vs non-bethesda fallout thing, which i don't get because i think all of the games are guilty of the "people living in 200 year rubble" thing that gets criticized so much. as i mentioned in the tags, this post was inspired by a cleanup mod for new vegas. and to be clear, i'm not saying that all the games necessarily execute this concept well, but it does make sense as a concept and isn't the gaping plothole a lot of people take it to be. like, look up what slums in the poorest countries in the world look like. imagine what what would happen to social norms in a world where everything blew up and you had to start over with practically no resources and no central government.

You know how you can play this game for 20 years and still find new things? I only recently learned this interaction existed, and now I love it! Romance Sims with the aspiration benefit can smooth talk people, and give them a rose. Except it just visually presents a rose, that then disappears into the ether. Why not disappear into the pocket of the recipient I wondered? So I made that happen!

Thanks to some guidance from the wonderful @episims and studies of their functional camera mod, I was able to figure out turning this accessory into essentially a deco-object once it is taken from inventory. It'll rotate and fit neatly on a surface.

I recommend @pforestsims' default rose, it is way prettier and it's what I use in the pictures, but the mod will also work with the maxis original.

Did it need to exist? Maybe not. But I wanted it, so here we are!

No conflicts that I know off. Seems unlikely given the niche nature of the mod and the fact that it only edits resources in the accessory rose, but HCDU+ can tell you if you are worried.
