You ever wonder where Sigyn went after Ship of the dead?
Like shes technically free now. But where is she supposed to go?
i highly doubt the Aesir would welcome her back with open arms. Theyd probably treat her the same (if not worse) as the Loki kids.
And shes mute and probably doesnt know sign language or english (unless you have the headcanon i have that Loki taught her sign language after HoT) because shes been in a cave for 1000 years so its not like she can communicate in midgard.
They basically fucked her over.
Also would love to see her interact with her step children.
(i am in denial that she genuinly left. They fucking love eachother, HoT was just a an act to me. Her entire 'leaving Loki' was also a plan or act to me)

Ooc:
Someone should make a Sigyn rp account
Cus gods does that girl need a personality that isnt 'poor abused wife of Loki, betrayed him in HoT somehow EVEN THOUGH SHE SHOULDNT EVEN HAVE KNOWN WHAT WAS GOING ON'
Also would love for someone to try to explain how she managed to actually get off the Ship of the dead in SoTD

I was thinking about this earlier today and wanted to share it. In the magnus chase books even though rick goes with portraying Loki as a sociopath and Sigyn as the abused but still defiant wife, we do get something of a proxy logyn relationship through Magnus and Alex. One is the playful ever changing person who refuses to compromise who they are for anyone. And the other is a super salty sunshine child who holds off ragnarok through love, loyalty, and consistency.
Couldn’t have said this better myself! You know, when it’s put out like this, I sort of understand why Rick did that with Sigyn and Loki. That contrast was necessary for the narrative he was trying to build, with Loki as a villain and Alex representing what he could’ve been had he gone down a better road, and Fierrochase representing the “good version” of the relationship between him and Sigyn. Although, I still think that Sigyn, specifically, could have been portrayed much differently and this same narrative could have still worked. She could have been more similar to Loki, there could’ve been two morally grey villains who actually show feelings for each other instead of one completely corrupt villain and his innocent, martyred wife who he berates and ignores.
That “parallel” with Magnus is also kinda one of the things that contribute to my vision of Sigyn as a Vanir/Daughter of Freyja tbh.

There has to be more to Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard
I waited two years to read this series so that I could read it all in one go. After finishing it though, I am convinced that there will be more… Why do I think that? Because while reading the series - especially the last book - I found too many loose threads that need to be tied up. Not to mention some underwhelming character focus. First of all, the loose threads:
Magnus’ eleventh hour superpower that he didn’t even use. Okay fine, he used it to his advantage once. With the crows. It was such a minor thing though, that it was easy to forget that it happened. So why did Riordan give Magnus the ability to speak to animals so late in the game? Norse mythology has many animals that can speak - a Hela of a lot more then many other mythologies… So here is hoping that Rick Riordan has a plan to dump Magnus into a situation that involves speaking to animals that don’t normally speak back because otherwise, what is the point?
Sigyn. So many questions about Sigyn! Where is Sigyn? Why did she leave without any warning? And more importantly, what does she have to do with Magnus? Sigyn is so full of mystery that I had to cut this point short. Find the rest of it here: https://j-t-pose.tumblr.com/post/168253657314/sigyn-in-mcga-questions-and-theories
Alex’s heritage. Now here it gets really complicated because there are so many cultures in that area which I personally know nothing about. What I do know is this: the way that entire scene played out in the book left a window - no, a door - wide open enough to invite more exploration of both Alex’s character (which needs a bit more focus) and Central & South American culture.
And of course, let’s not forget Magnus’ promise to find Bragi for Jack.
This next part is more wishful thinking rather then actual facts but it has to do with the focus - or rather lack of focus - on most of the other characters. I will admit that The Ship of the Dead gave them a little bit more focus - which was great! However, by the end of the book I was still left a little disappointed.
For example, we were told that Mallory was the glue that brought Floor 19 together, but there wasn’t really any evidence for this. There is so much potential in all those characters that it would be disapointing if Riordan doesn’t do anything with them. Like an anthology of short stories or something - “The Fables of the Flourishing Floor 19”. Just to show us why TJ and Halfborn didn’t like each other at first or give us more insight into Gunilla’s character.
Anyway I am going to do more posts like these in the future - analyses and/or theories on various characters and books. Not limited to the Riordanverse - this is just where it started.

finished the mcga series and lemme tell u my opinions:
alex fierro rocks. she/he is awesome and so badass
hearthstone has my whole heart
magnus is funny bc he never knows wtf he’s doing. like he’s just a glorified nurse trying not to get stabbed
got to admit i was questioning the whole samirah betrothal thing but this book rlly super educated me and now i ship amir/samirah so bad they’re so adorable
the gods SUCKED. like were so boring. maybe it’s cus greek mythology will forever be my fav so i was a little biased but i found them boring. except for Frigg. she was lovely.
magnus/alex kiss is ON PAR w the annabeth/percy kiss in terms of adorable romance, but the percabeth kiss was more iconic
the toenail ship was so gross, good writing tho richard
also loved Sigyn, Loki’s wife. idk why she was just beautiful to me
Blitz and Hearth are SO GAY. SO GAY. but in a pure adorable way and i love it sm
wish rick had written some kind of last reunion between magnus and his mom. like just for closure. i get why he didn’t, bc of moving on and stuff, but i think it would’ve been rlly sweet
thx for listening yall, Trials of Apollo here i come baby u r not ready for me

What if Sigyn could do the split thing Loki does and Loki had his wife with him the entire series
What if they were a loving couple like in actual myth
What if she actually got a personality
What if her, Randolph and Loki were a throuple

Hela has been added as a “by request” muse! Keep in mind that my version is mythology and headcanon based. I will take these aspects of her and apply them to any PJO/MCGA threads, as well as Mar.vel. Important things to note:
Hela does not have children, nor can she ever. (She is not my Kate’s mother.)
She has a soft spot for children, and always has. She loathes seeing them in her realm, and does her utmost to make sure their afterlife is as peaceful as can be. If your muse has hurt children in any way, she will not have mercy for them.
While her true appearance is half human, half corpse, she uses magicks she learned before being cast from Asgard to appear fully human.
Regardless as to how Loki presents, Hela will always see him/her/they as her parent. She’ll use whatever pronouns are appropriate/requested, because that’s what supportive kids do, dammit.
My Hela is the youngest of Loki and Angrboda’s three children. She loves both her brothers dearly.
She also cares for her step family. Sigyn is as much a mother figure to her as Angrboda is. Sleipnir, Narvi, and Vali are her brothers as well, and cares for them just as much as Fenris and Jormungandr.
She holds no ill will towards any other gods of death from other pantheons. (Honestly, I’d love to have threads with them where they just chat and get along??? Wondering what the Hel [hehe] the other gods and humans are doing.)
If you come to her seeking out a soul, you must be willing and ready to exchange another for it. There is an equilibrium to keep.
She does visit Midgard from time to time, mostly out of curiosity. While there, she has adopted the alias Helen Locke, a medical examiner. She has a small apartment, and Garmr has joined her in the form of a German Shepherd.
While millennia old, she presents herself as a woman in her mid 30s. Her FC is Ev.a Gree.n. She is asexual and demiromantic.
Boom.

For some reason, you give me sigyn from the mcga series vibes. Like you would be very much the reason why someone is not collapsing into madness irl
Does make sense?
HELVETE!!! YES!!! it makes a LOT of sense!!! this ask game is FUELLING MY EGO SO FUCKING MUCH!.... smh....
Sigyn in the Magnus Chase universe is ABSOLUTELY fascinating <33 The fact that your perception of me is ‘the reason why someone is not collapsing into madness irl’ is touching my heart right now <33 *tears up a little* *gives u a hugg*
In the books Sigyn is, despite what everyone thinks of her, despite the fact that her husband is himself bringing about the end of the world, despite the fact that the gods haven’t given her a single thought, on the side of life, on the side of saving humanity, and that’s beautiful <33 her story is a tragedy and yet she shows grit and power, and THAT is GLORIOUS to see <333
You give me protective, homely, comfortable vibes but also words that carry great foresight and wisdom <33 In short, you’re Frigg<33 she’s motherly- in the way that she can nurse a child AND bear her fangs <33 ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER <33 she’s also an extremely powerful and important goddess <33 Hope you like it!!
Tell me which deity i am!!! (and i’ll give you one right back!!)

Hey! I am at the last part of book 3 magnus chase. But I must say in the terms of Gods, it is my least favourite series. Loki is shown an evil dude who kills his children, when in reality, one of the reasons of Ragnarok was the illtreatment his childeen got. Sigyn is shown as a victim side character,Thor was meant to be funny, as the farting, show surfing dude, but it was more annoying. What do you think? (I would have written more but limited words+ I might be biased towards MCU's potrayal)
Yeah, I mostly feel the same way about MCGA's portrayal of the gods. I love the series and its characters at large, but I think some of the gods were just portrayed wrong. My main complaints are about Loki and Sigyn, of course; because even if I still love MCGA Loki I just wish he was given more depth besides "Ooh I'm so evil, I torture people and make my own childrens' lives hell and I just wanna destroy the universe". Like,, where are the motives?? Narvi and Vali were mentioned once when -the way I see it- their death is basically what led to Loki wanting Ragnarok. And then there's the fact that he verbally abuses Sigyn when we see them in the cave and completely ignores her otherwise; and the fact that Sigyn herself is portrayed as,, a doormat and that's all.
Thor was also inaccurate but I feel like not that much?? Like the book portrays the gods in a modern setting, and going by the myths, if they were written today I feel like Thor would mostly be like that. But it's true that there's a certain factor of seriousness to his character the series ignored completely.
I feel like this happens with other gods too, like Freyja. She's portrayed as just,, pretty. And that's the one thing people always get wrong about Freyja, she's a warrior too.
But eh, it's also true that you can't really expect much accuracy from this kind of series. After all, they're centered around the protagonists. The gods are plot devices. The author kinda needed to make Loki into the cruel, heartless villain, Sigyn into the tragic victim wife, Thor into the dumb, laughing stock lazy dude, etc.

Sigyn in MCGA. Questions and Theories.
Unfortunately, not much is known about Sigyn even in the mythology - she is only mentioned a couple of times in the Prose Edda and really only as the “wife of Loki”. The only real look into her personality is the one line in the Poetic Edda in which a seer mentions that Sigyn is “unhappy” sitting beside a chained up Loki.
So lack of knowledge aside, in The Hammer of Thor she “accidently” knocks some of the poison into Loki’s eyes to stop Loki from recognising Sam. Now most people that I have asked wonder why she did this. To me though, the more important question is how she knew to do this. If Sigyn was down there all that time then how did she know that Sam was the bridesmaid and not the bride? Especially considering that Alex’s shapeshifting was enough to trick Loki.
Given that she disappeared at the end of the third book without so much as a stare, there is clearly more going on with her then we first thought.
What follows is pure speculation on my part: In Norse mythology, sacrifice and/or suffering is often needed in order to access magic. It is shown in the books with Hearthstone who used his childhood suffering as a basis for his rune magic. Odin himself, made sacrifices for knowledge - loss of his eye, hanged himself on the branches of Yggdrasil for nine days, and spent six months out in a blizzard.
One thousand years is a long time to endure Loki at his worst - and this is after the Æsir murdered her children and used their entrails to tie Loki down. Suffice to say, Sigyn suffered. A lot.
No wonder she cries blood.
Anyway, my theory is that after a millenia of pain and suffering Sigyn had learned enough magic to get an idea of what was going on in the outside world. Whether it was foresight like Frigg or some sort of projection like Loki, I don’t know. However, the evidence does suggest that her actions in helping Magnus were deliberate and as such she had to have had some foreknowledge of the situation. More importantly, she would have had to gain this knowledge without Loki realising - which likely rules out any outside interference such as Mimir with his Well of Knowledge.
Sigyn clearly knew more then she let on - though considering she doesn’t speak, that is not hard - and the mysteries of her character have not yet been solved. So here is to hoping that she will show up in the future.
