I don't know if you'll ever get this but I'm writing this with all my heart. You mean so much to me. Your music has impacted me so much, I can't even begin to explain it. I have been a fan since I first saw your "You Belong to Me" music video and felt like I could relate to the girl you were portraying.

During the worst period of my life, you released Folklore and it actually felt like my stars aligned because it was such perfect timing. The universe knew that was exactly what I needed at the moment. I can't even express how much that album means to me. I mean it when I say you have saved me. Sometimes I get this overwhelming breeze of sadness when I think about how I'll never be able to tell you how much I love you and how much your music has moved me. How much it makes me feel alive when I listen to them, how much it gives me hope to live and not give up on myself, and how it just makes me feel emotions even when I'm numb.

I have cried to your songs, danced to them, and had a midnight concert in my room with them, but most of all I have found myself in them. Your music is not just a part of my life, it's what makes me who I am.

2023 had been a year of trying to find myself and I don't have a handful of moments of happiness in that year but one moment I can recall is going to watch the Eras movie in theaters and it made me feel so alive. I know it sounds stupid and sappy but the fact that I felt something is important itself because I had been numb for the longest time in 2023. I can still remember how tears swelled up immediately as you said "It's been a long time coming home" because it's true! It had been a long time coming home. I felt like I was at home and these small moments in life are what makes it worth living. Those 3 hours of my life felt like I belonged in this world and that I was alive.

It's insane how much your music has changed me and some people will never understand what I mean when I credit your music for changing my life. But it's true because I feel my heart swell when I'm listening to your music while walking back home from uni. I feel my heart beat faster when I get that dopamine rush which gives me chills.

Your growth, authenticity, and unwavering dedication to your art have always inspired me. I am so proud of you for standing up for yourself and rising from the ashes after the worst time of your life. It's so inspiring because if you could go through so much, then I can too. I just know the baby version of Taylor would be so proud of how much you have achieved.

Thank you for sharing your incredible gift with the world, your music has been a true friend in my life, a companion through thick and thin. [ Letter to Taylor Swift ]

I went to eras tour last night and I just wanted to give you a full and complete rundown of my experience beyond it completely changed my life and I will never be the same. So:

I honestly had the best experience with getting food - we went to subway and the whole experience only took about 5 minutes. We did eat early (around 4:15pm) though so that might be the key

Getting merch was also quite painless. I’m telling you don’t stand in the lines outside the stadium to get merch, everyone will have been doing the before the doors open. We went in around 5pm (half an hour after doors opened) and got straight in the merch line and we were only waiting for around 20-30mins

I am so sad that I didn’t get to see Sabrina perform her set (but we’ll get back to that later)

It was so funny when Travis came into the stadium cause everyone started screaming. And the video of them afterwards is so cute.

It almost didn’t feel real until I actually saw her (with the weather being the way it was I had real fears of it being cancelled)

‘It’s you and me, that’s my whole world’ - she really did something with that

The way all the bracelets lit up in a rainbow for you need to calm down made my heart soar

Fearless (the song) was absolutely something else and was one of my favourite moments of the night

Her playing the well known songs (love story, ybwm, 22, wanegbt, ikywt, and pretty much all of 1989) was absolutely phenomenal and I know red’s set has been quite contentious in particular but that era was honestly one of my favourites (everyone gets so into them and it’s such a communal experience that the evermore and folklore eras don’t have (and those are two of my favourite albums)

Talking of evermore, for some reason I feel like my knowledge of the set list failed me cause I did not realise that she opened with Tis the damn season (I didn’t really watch any livestreams before hand or the movie cause I wanted to experience it first hand first but I still knew what she sand and some semblance of the order she sang the songs in but for some reason that surprised - the best way possible)

Champagne problems and tolerate are still everything to me. I’m just sad cause I could see her playing champagne problem cause the piano was set up behind one of the light towers that was in my line of sight

I don’t have much to comment on for reputation but I loved it so much

She wore the blue dress for speak now era and I cannot even begin to explain how much that meant to me. Also singing long live with Taylor and a crowd of 86,000 is an experience I will never forget

Back to red era and a little more detail on why I adored it so much - 22 was literally the funnest song of the night (maybe only rivalled by shake it off) and when she gave the hat to the little girl, that I believe had cancer, I literally cried; but then wanegbt was playing and I was like I can’t cry during this; the ‘yeah nah’ in the bridge is iconic; ikywt popped off; and of course we have the woman the myth the moment, a10w and it was everything

I absolute loved folklore but I think by the time it came around people were exhausted. It was the era that a lot of people were sitting down (including me for the one and Betty because it was a lot). August was incredible and her playing the bridge of illicit affairs is everything to me

It was really quite genius of her to put 1988 at the end to pump people back up and I also felt as if it went really quickly cause everyone is anticipating the surprise songs

And now to talk about those surprise songs and the freaking announcement (which there were like no signs for mind you and I think I nearly had a heart attack). I was at this point in time trying to FaceTime my sister and mum so they could see the surprise songs and the connection was so shitty by the way. How you get the girl was chill - not really one of my favourite songs but anything taylor plays is incredible so I had fun. But anyway she moves on to the piano and she starts talking about ttpd which I was like okay, cool (I didn’t really think much of it even then until she started talking about what happens at the Paino - show and tell). And at first I was like surely she’s not going to announce something. And then I was like what if she plays a song from ttpd. These are the absolute manic thoughts running through my head. And then she announced it. And I’m sorry but ‘the albatross’. My mind immediately when to the poem the rime of the ancient mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge cause throughout high school in English I literally used the metaphor of the albatross around the neck in so many of my pieces of writing. Anyway so at this point I am currently dying and then she brings out Sabrina (which I kind of thought would happen since she didn’t get to perform and I was so so grateful for cause I love her dearly). And they talked about kangaroos which was hilarious (I guess they would be kinda weird to people who haven’t seen them before). Anyway so they sing white horse which incredible amazing duet that I will never forget and then THEN they sing the fucking bridge of Coney Island and I think I passed out. I’m like shouting to the friends that I went with that she’s playing Coney Island and I can see my mum and my sister on my phone absolutely laughing their heads off at my freak out. Honestly that was everything to me. I am so sorry to anyone who didn’t get to experience a Taylor swift mashup surprise song cause it is something else entirely.

I think I was honestly still in shock for all of the midnights set but honestly I was one of the greatest nights of my life.

My thoughts after watching The Eras Tour movie:

-It truly felt like a concert, but without all the drawbacks of one. It was truly amazing and I am very grateful Taylor chose to make this movie.

-I think my favorite era might have actually been Folklore despite being 'the slowest one'. I mourn the fact that Cardigan was cut from the movie, but August was gr8, My Tears Ricochet was really emotional and I adored the staging for TLGAD. You could also see that Taylor was really into it during this era. I do however wish she would have filmed one of the nights she wore the green dress cause that one is stunning. The white one is merely acceptable.

-However, it did not feel like she was into Our Song. Especially when you compare it to the other acustic song, YOYOK, you could see she was enjoying one a loooot more than the other. And as a consequence, I too enjoyed YOYOK more. (Though, this is my fave song from Midnights, so of course I loved it LOL)

-As great as Long Live was for a credits song, I think it was a mistake to cut it from the Speak Now set that was just too short. Also she was filmed while wearing the ugliest Enchanted dress. It truly looked like she was wearing 'a gown shaped by a pastry'. I didn't realize just how utterly fugly that dress was till I saw it close up in the movie.

-Speaking of fugly costumes, pls get rid of the stupid Midnights jackets. All of them. They are ridiculous and have nothing to do with the era IMO. The sparkly t-shirt is fine and it adds to the middle of the night aesthetic and the bodysuit is obviously stunning. But the jackets? UGLY! My favorite song here was Mastermind, mostly bc I completely forgot it was on the setlist and I was pleasently surprised when she started singing it.

-I think my least favorite era was Red tbh. I found the choice of songs really boring and nothing interesting was happening on stage either. Her costumes here were...fine. Nothing more, nothing less. I understand why she chose to sing ATW10 but honestly I feel like the original version would have been a better choice. I also think cutting IKYWT or WANEGBT would have been a better choice than some of the songs actually cut.

-I heard quite a lot of playback on 1989, but otherwise I enjoyed the era. (I may be wrong, I am no expert.) I would however swep Style for Wildest Dreams in the movie as I found Style surprisingly boring.

-Evermore was surprisingly extremely enjoyable, just like Folklore. I loved how mystical and witchy Willow was. Champagne Problems was truly made to be played to stadiums. And Tolerate it? Man, it broke me. I however would have swept Marjorie for No body, no crime, as I feel like the latter would have been more memorable.

-Reputation was flawless.

-I enjoyed the Fearless era waaaay more than I expected to.

-Lover was really the best start of the show, although I think the songs could have been chosen better. I am not a fan of YNTCD but I understand she needed an upbeat song there, but I still wish she would have chosen Paper Rings or London Boy. However that bodysuit is AMAZING and will be imortalized in history.

Overall, it was great and I am very grateful she made the movie.

 Yesterday, Sunday, I went to The Eras Tour. I was supposed to go on friday but it got cancelled, so my concert ended up being the last one in Argentina; and by the way, this was my first concert ever, 

 This was the most magical and exciting experience of my life. I don't even know what to say, but I'm so so happy we made Taylor feel so loved and we showed the power of our crowd to her.

I will talk about this concert, one. era. at a time. 

Before the concert began, I talked with the girl who was on the seat next to me; she was so nice! I gave her bracelets. We talked about our favourite albums, which surprise songs we wanted... that was so relieving for me, since I am so so SO shy and I was feeling so nervous.

1. Lover

It's been a long time coming for sure. I was already screaming the songs, I was tearing up, I couldn't believe I was there. It all felt like a dream... It was funny to sing "You Need To Calm Down", when I was the one who needed to calm down!! hahaha.  When Lover started, I felt the need to hug someone and I NEVER hug people; that's the power Taylor has.

2. Fearless

Oh god. This era was when my mind started going "this can't be happening. oh my god. this is awesome. i need to contact little me and tell her what's going on. oh my god oh my god.". I grew up more with Red and 1989, but there were songs from Fearless (debut and speak now, too) that I've been listening to forever (& always). You Belong With me is one of them. There was a thing Spotify made last year, it was like a time capsule of songs, one of the questions was "which song would you want to hear live this year?", and I chose "You Belong With Me".        It happened.        My mind remembers the music video, hating the cheerleader, loving the nerd, the story this song tells will always warm my heart.

3. Evermore

This era was so chaotic and fun and it felt like I was watching a movie!! I mean, Tolerate It and Willow? AHHHHHHHHHH. Before Champagne Problems, Taylor said that it took her a while (yeah haha) to come to Argentina and she's never going to make that mistake again. So possibly for her next tour she'll come here again and I am so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4. reputation

EVERYONE WAS SCREAMING "VA A REPUTAAAAAAR!! AAAAAAAAAAHhh!!". I got to experience the "1, 2, 3, let's go bitch" in person!! and I listened to the high notes in Ready For It? and Don't Blame Me live!!!!!!!!! AND Look What You Made Me Do live was HEALING. IT WAS A HEALING EXPERIENCE, it just hit so hard!!! GOOOOOD.

5. Speak Now

Ah ah ah, Ah ah ah. I WAS ENCHANTED TO MEET YOU, TAYLOR. Seeing her in that gorgeous dress, singing Enchanted: it was a fairytale. And I cried my eyes out during Long Live. SOMEDAY, WE WILL BE REMEMBERED.

6. Red

I remember this album (the original version) was the latest album Taylor had released when I found out about her and her music. So hearing these songs live was magical. I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22! Also, honourable mention to Taylor's dancer who screamed "¡ni en pedo!" the three nights. I LOVED THAT. I Knew You Were Trouble is an ICONIC Taylor Swift song and I'm so happy I got to experience it. And of course, All Too Well... the whole stadium was red. All the bracelets were burning red. Everyone screamed "fuck the patriarchy!". I'll remember this all too well.

7. folklore

"So we have brought the folklore cabin to Argentina, haven't we?". folklore is another album that feels like a movie, or a book; when you see Taylor laying down and singing "you meet some woman on the internet and take, her, home..." you forget you're in the stadium full of people for a second. Betty! oh god! I will never forgive James for what he did to you. I'm sorry I sing along to every line of his apology. OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOD and that transition, from August to Illicit Affairs- AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Illicit Affairs is my second favourite song on folklore (after mirrorball). DON'T. CALL. ME. KID. DON'T. CALL. ME. BABY.

8. 1989

I stayed out too late last night and I loved every second of it. I danced a lot during the 1989 era and it was so so fun. I adore the Bad Blood coreography; and the fact that there was FIRE during this song. AHHHHHH. I could feel the heat!! It was awesome!!!

SURPRISE SONGS

Was this even real? I still can't believe it. She sang BETTER THAN REVENGE. I thought she'd never EVER sing this song again. Better Than Revenge is the song I play in my bedroom so loud that if someone screams in another room, I wouldn't hear them. It's one of my favourite songs. I could have never guessed this was going to be my surprise song, however, I am MORE than happy that it was.

Then, "Slut!". This was such a clever combination, I mean, Better than Revenge + Slut? It's so great. I remember when I first listened to Slut, it felt so nostalgic (well, probably because it was written 10 years ago haha). Taylor's voice was magical.

9. Midnights

And finally, Midnights. I started to feel a bit sad because I knew that the show was about to end now, but I decided to give it my all and 'be the loudest woman this town has ever seen'. Lavender Haze, Anti-Hero, Midnight Rain, Vigilante Shit, Bejeweled, Mastermind, Karma... every song was phenomenal. I love how she made the decision to end the show with Karma, such a fun song to leave us dancing and wanting more. Thank you, Taylor Swift. I love you. !!

After reading out the letter you let out a deep sigh you felt a little giddy as you shakily folded the letter and put it back in the envelope. You sat on the bed immersed in deep thought for how long you don't know. The words written in the letter were constantly reeling in your mind. You felt as if someone had placed a mirror in front of you and you can’t hide from your real self. You were snapped out of your train of thoughts when you heard Harry going off about something. You went out of your room and stood on the corridor upstairs holding on to the railing as you looked down to see everyone gathered. 

"What happened?" 

"Tom is not answering his phone, he said he would return by afternoon and it's almost evening now." Sam said. 

"I'm so done with his careless attitude, what does he think of himself?" Harry grumbled. You puckered your face thinking suddenly you remembered something. 

"Okay guys calm down I know where he could be." You went to your room to grab your bag and came down the stairs. 

"Don't worry I'll bring him back before dinner." You said before leaving. 

The cliff top was the only place you both used to go when you felt down. So you started to walk in that direction. The sun was setting and as you had guessed you could see him from a distance sitting there. You went to one of the stalls and bought two beers before going up to him. 

"I knew I would find you here." You said nonchalantly. Tom turned his head. 

"Oh.. Hey" 

"Why aren't you answering your phone? Everybody is worried for you." 

"Sorry didn't mean to bother anyone." 

"Here." You handed him a beer bottle. As you sat beside him, you clinked your bottles taking a sip you spoke. 

"So how are you doing?" 

"Fine I guess." 

"You wanna talk about it?" 

"No. " You scoff rolling your eyes and grabbed his jaw making him face you. 

"C'mon talk to me"

"There's nothing to talk about Y/N, I'm fine, really fine." You turned your gaze to the horizon letting out a deep breath. 

"Why did you let her go?" you said softly.

"Because that will be best for us." 

"But you were in love with each other." 

"Maybe. Or she was just in love and I was looking for a distraction which I had mistaken as love" 

"See nothing has ended Tom if you want I'll go talk to her and apologize for everything." 

"You don't need to do that, you haven't done anything to apologise. It was all my fault whatever happened today and six year ago I'm to be blamed. My insecurities made me indecisive. For the first time in these six years I have made the right decision." Tom ranted. 

"I'm sorry Y/N I'm really sorry for everything." You placed your hand on his shoulder reassuringly.

"Hey if you're to blame then I'm equally guilty too. Everyone told me to sort out our differences but I didn't. Moreover, I hid the truth about our baby from you and your family. I'm sorry too. And if I wouldn’t have come here in the first place none of this would happen." 

"By the way, sorry for ditching you today at the rehearsals."

"Though I was mad at you before but now it's okay." 

“Is it ok for you to drink cold stuff before your concerts doesn’t it affect the throat?”

"Yeah because that div had an annoying habit to pull my hair. And you know how much I hate when someone touches my hair"

"Though I felt the intimate scenes were quite sloppy" you stick out your tongue and chuckle. Tom rolled his eyes.

“Because you weren't there princess I don't get the feel and passion unless it's you.” He winked. You rolled your eyes.

"Your new album really took me by surprise. I was left wondering where did my naive country girl go?" 

"Had to put some people in their place." You gave a sly grin. 

"That was hell of a comeback." 

"Sure it was.. Going by the words of the media, 'PHENOMENAL!', 'RECORD BREAKING!', 'SAVAGE!'." You both giggled. 

"I thought you didn't like my songs."

"Oh C'mon, you believe that?" 

"I haven't been here around six years. A lot of things have changed so who knows?" you shrugged. 

"This feels good... Us together having heart to heart conversations like old times." Tom said. You hummed lacing your fingers with Tom's, resting your head on his shoulder. 

"You sent the VIP passes to Mrs Nelson?" 

"How can I forget our little special guest."

"Vienna is such a sweet girl that reminds me of…" you stopped as memories of when you were going to be a mother flashed in front of you. 

"I don't know why I'm sharing this but we were going to have a girl." You mumbled placing your other hand on your belly.

"I honestly hated your buzz cut. It was so depressing for me to see you without the curls I adore so much. I felt so angry on the Russos I thought of giving them an earful for why they made you cut your hair." 

"But I felt really good, no need for styling. And what about you? You also cut your hair short." You straightened yourself. 

"Hey! That's a bob cut that has nothing to do with your buzz cut. I atleast had hair on my head." You retorted. 

"Okay.. what other things you missed?" 

"I missed your unruly eyebrow" you brushed your thumb over his eyebrow. 

"I missed your crooked nose." You booped his nose with the tip of your index finger.

"And?" Tom said in a low voice your faces were inches apart as you breathed heavily.

" I..I" you stuttered as you glanced at his lips. Tom licked his lips watching you enigmatically. You cleared your throat and pulled away immediately. 

"Never mind what did you miss about me huh?" Tom was snapped out of his trance as he blinked his eyes a few times. 

"What did I miss?" 

"Uh.. I missed watching sunsets like this with you." 

"I missed the priority access to your new album and listening to them up close. You are still not going to tell me about the song you are going to sing in the end are you?"

"Nope you have to wait mister that's a surprise. Okay now continue" 

"Well I missed this adorable face, I missed these beautiful eyes which could read me like an open book, I missed this captivating smile which can light up my whole day, I missed you so much." He tucked in the loose strands of your hair flying in the sea breeze behind your ear. 

"Y/N I.. I" 

"No Tom, don't say those words. Don't make it harder for me to leave than it is already." 

"Then don't leave." Tom hold on to your hand. 

"We don't have a choice Tom." You got up. "Now come on let's go back before everyone gets even more stressed than they are already for us." 

Your heart crumbles under the weight of the fact that the love you share isn't enough for either of you. You could finally tell that you want to live your life with him. But you don't want to get carried away with the misconception of proclamation of love equates to a happily ever after. You know your realities are not aligning. 

Tom stood up and laced his fingers into yours. You smiled and gave a little squeeze to his hand as you both walked down the road hand in hand. 

Tom looked at you intently. He wanted to hold on to you tighter and believe that maybe this time things would work out as he had dreamed of once but he knew you had let go long before that. You are hurt and scared to fall in love again. And he is desperate to try and make you realize that your long lost love is still alive and wants to come back to you. You just need to open your arms and embrace it. 

"Here I brought back your brother safe and sound." You said reaching home. 

"Why do you have a phone if you're not going to answer it?" Harry scolded Tom. 

"Okay it was my fault I'm sorry." 

"Guys I have an announcement. As you know tomorrow is my concert so I have arranged VIP passes for you guys." Everyone cheered.

Next day went really fast as the time came for your concert. Thousands of people waiting on the ground just to get a glimpse of you and listen to your songs. Your heart was racing even after performing so many concerts the anticipation was killing you as you got ready looking into the mirror touching up your makeup for the one last time. 

"Y/N are you ready?" Tom said, his jaw dropped as you turned around. 

"Wooww! You.. You look ravishing." You giggled. 

"Thanks Tom." 

"Okay it is going to start in five minutes. Don't worry everything will be fine, I will be there backstage." 

"Tom, Tom, relax , you seem to be more stressed than me. I have done this before a lot of times. You just enjoy the show, I got this." 

The stage was set, the stadium was full, the crowd cheering at the top of their voice as the show began.

"Not sure if you  picked up on it yet I'm pretty sure you have, though. Have you noticed that you have a light up bracelet on your wrist?" the whole gallery got lit up as everyone raised their hands. 

"There they are." Crowd cheered.

"Um… but that's not the only thing about them, the reason why I wanted to have those on the tour to make sure no matter what I would see every single one of you in these stadiums. So if you are on the top, top deck, last row and you think I can't see you that would be incorrect. I can see every one of you dancing, throwing your hands up in the air. And the top of that I can hear you… "

"It really seems you guys have memorised every single word to the songs and so not just singing them but like…." 

"Screaming them." 

"If I had to take a guess I would say one thing that probably everybody has in common I think I would say that one thing would be…"

You were cut off by Joseph who came up to you and handed you a tissue bending down on his knee. 

"Thank you so much…" you took the tissue. "There's a.." 

"I feel like it's important to be honest with you guys. I have a tiny miniscule cold. Do not mind this.. This is just gonna be me blowing my nose. I'm gonna turn around and do it." 

You turned around and blew your nose. Then you hand over the tissue back to Joseph. 

"But I what.. I really think it was all good to take note of how Joseph presented me with the tissue. This is the best thing I have ever seen. Never in my lifetime has anyone presented me a tissue with such commitment."

"Umm so okay guys wanna talk to you about something. I propose the idea that we spend some time with just you and me and the guitar."

The whole team bowed in gratitude. You walked the lengths of the stage waving at the crowd and blowing air kisses. You ran to the other end waving and giving flying kisses. You went to the centre of the stage and bowed for one last time. As the stage descended, taking you down the stage as you waved goodbye and mouthed to the audience. 

"I love you guys"

As the show ended you went backstage and everyone hugged you and applauded for the marvelous show you put up, someone handed you a bottle of water to drink. But your eyes were searching for only one person and as you caught sight of him you ran to him. Tom was standing at a corner, arms crossed across his chest, smiling his eyes showed how much proud he was of you. You went and hugged him tightly. Tom gave a light peck on your cheek. 

"Darling, that was so good. Didn't know you were such a big star, you literally set the stage on fire." he said cupping your face. 

"Couldn't have done that without you. Thank you Tom. Love you so much. You kissed him on his cheek." Tom couldn't ignore the fact that unknowingly you told him you loved him. 

"Okay I'm going to get changed and join you at the little party the crew has thrown okay." You left. 

But Tom was in no mental condition to enjoy a party, not after listening to your confession. He felt time was slipping out of his hands as he could not hold you back. He straight away went home. 

You went to the hall where the party was arranged, you didn't find Tom there. 

"Hey Maria where's Tom?" 

"He went back" 

"Went back? Why?" 

"Don't know honey, you enjoy the party, this is all for you." You felt something was off. 

"Sorry Maria I need to leave too. You guys enjoy." 

Tom was the first one to return to the house. Others came back a while later. 

"Y/N just nailed it" Paddy chirped. 

"Can we have some dinner now? I'm starving" Tuwaine complained.

Everyone headed towards the kitchen as Harrison's eyes went to Tom. He was standing on the porch. He frowned and made his way towards him. 

"Hey man what's up?! The concert was damn good! Weren't you supposed to be with Y/N for the after party?" Harrison asked. Tom turned his eyes puffy red with tears. 

"Bro what's the matter?"

"Harrison I can't let her go, not this time." Tom sobbed.

3. Avengers Endgame was spoiled for me two days after it’s release. I was sitting in the middle of the night doing my homework when some m*****f***** (look, I REALLY hate that person, okay?) on YouTube posted a video with the title “IRON MAN DEATH SCENE AVENGERS ENDGAME”. I’d only become a Marvel fan three weeks prior, and Tony was my favourite character. So you can guess what happened after that🥲 I spent two whole days walking around like a zombie, and cried in my room at any given chance. Tony Stark was the first fictional character who made me bawl my eyes out.

3. I can sorta sing?

4. I have a Taylor Swift pillow that I hug and kiss more than my family (I love them tho😂)

5. I once wrote a song. It wasn’t entirely crap, and I was even kinda proud of myself, but then the memories associated with it became way too painful to hold on to, so I tore it up and threw it in the trash. So there’s some sappy stuff about me.

6. ...I really love My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, and I re watch it whenever I get the chance. Judge me all you want, but that show is so much better than some of my other childhood shows *cough* Winx *cough*.

I Know Places full analysis

Okay everyone, here it is... my long awaited analysis on I Know Places (illicit affairs coming soon but I promised one at least today so I’m keeping that promise; everyone has been waiting long enough).

I’ll mostly focus on the song itself, and the visuals that go with it, but I’ll probably also touch on who it may be about (Dianna Agron) as well.

This is a VERY long analysis so it’s all under the cut.

(I want to mention before I start, that Genius has a citation that says that it could be about a “rumored same-sex relationship”. It mentions Karlie but this is a Dianna song so I don’t think the timing of this song’s release makes sense as a Karlie song but I thought I’d mention that because I’d never seen that before)

The song starts and ends with a click. I have seen quite a few interpretations of that click: cassette, record, and recorder. I’ve always thought that it was a record, and the last sound was the arm being lifted. I suppose it doesn’t really matter exactly what it is, because all three kind of relate to a similar idea: the ‘80s theme of the album and of Taylor and her lover being watched and constantly scrutinized (I’ll come back to this one later) by the media. That by itself isn’t specifically gay but this intro and closing kind of haunt me. It’s as if there are always people watching them and they can’t be together. This feels like all those historical queer movies I’ve seen where the women have to hide their relationship and people are watching (oh! and that scene in Carol where they were being recorded in their hotel room).

The instrumental of I Know Places is rather simplistic (I have the official karaoke version which helps to isolate the surrounding sounds). It starts and ends with that reverberated piano and then the piano drops at least an octave once the percussion comes in. This beat makes it feel like the central figures in the song are being chased, or at least moving fast and this is helped by the lower octave in the piano, as it adds a sense of unease to the song. The unease is carried forward by that haunting note at 0:25 that just sends a shiver down my spine. It happens again at 0:32 but lingers a bit longer, clashing just so with the piano that it gives the section more of an edge. Lyrically, at these sections, Taylor says “something happens when everybody finds out” and “love’s a fragile little flame it could burn out”. These haunting notes add to the fear that appears in these lyrics, of the relationship falling apart because people found out.

In the first Pre-Chorus, the percussion picks up, and adds in some claps and new beats that weren’t present before. Here, the song is really building up for the chorus and in this way it feels a bit chaotic here because this new drum pattern adds on to the piano and the “i, i, i, i” ’s that have returned from the beginning (and if I listen closely I think I can hear the haunting note return at 0:45 with “they are the hunters” which again, shows the fear).

The percussion stays the same from the Pre-Chorus to the Chorus but some of the other sounds change a little. The chords played by the piano are... happier almost than in the verse or the pre-chorus which really brings out the lyrics about knowing somewhere that the media can’t find them. The chorus also has more major chords than the verses. According to a website I found with the chords, the verses and pre-choruses have e minor, C major, a minor, b minor while the chorus has G major, D major, a minor, C major. This is easier to hear in a recording from the reputation stadium tour; with chords that were major in the chorus, before the melody stops just before the next verse. That pause adds another haunted vibe to the song because it asks if these places are really that safe (since, we know that Taylor’s relationship with Dianna ended in part because of the media [see the master post I’ve linked below]). It also is interesting to note that the chord changes pick up on “’Cause I know places we can hide” with G major, D major, a minor C major on the “I” and then again just to a minor on the “hide” (with the C major not coming until the first “places” in the next line). That again, matches the haunted vibe.

The second verse is very similar musically to the first but there’s an added bass line here, a plucked one. This grounds this verse more than the first one because there’s now a driving force that pulls the song forward and gives more dimension to the song. It also kind of adds an urgency to it and feels as if the people in the song are running, just as it says in the lyrics. This kind of mirroring is really cool because it deeply connects the lyrics to the music and makes the whole idea of the song much more powerful.

The second chorus is the same as the first but the bridge strips it back so it’s just the percussion and the bass line. The percussion has changed to just a bass drum hit, which again, pushes the song forward and again adds to the urgency, especially in the lyrics of the bridge “they are the hunters we are the foxes, and we run/just grab my hand and don’t ever drop it, my love”.

The urgency of the music through out the song pairs nicely with both the lyrics and looking at this song through a queer eye. Taylor, and her lover, are running from the media and it’s even more important that they aren’t caught because they aren’t straight. Taylor really wants this relationship to last, even if they have to constantly hide because she really loves this girl and wants to be with her.

It’s interesting to also take a look at the original lyrics that appear in the Voice Memo that Taylor released in the Deluxe edition of the album. The chorus is exactly the same but the first verse is a bit different (most of these are the same as what Genius says but I heard a few different words with headphones):

“... they’re waiting at the back door/they’re around and the vultures come around/and you know that...they want, they want us/say what they want about, say what they want about us/and you come and I sing and you listen?/I would not think about it but I’m not them/let them know a thing or two about it, a thing or two about it...”

Obviously these lyrics don’t make a lot of sense because they were just Taylor trying to send an idea out, but they're interesting to look at anyway. I think, especially the part where Taylor’s saying that the they (which is most likely the media) knows something but not the whole story. That's true especially about gaylor and all the women Taylor may or may not have dated.

Okay, now onto lyrics.

I’ve seen some analysis of the “I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I-I/I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I-I/I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I-I (I, I, I, I)” at the beginning as Taylor stuttering trying to answer interview questions about her love life but I also see it as paired with the click at the beginning and end, with the record or whatever recording device skipping (which lends itself back to the ‘80s theme).

“You stand with your hand on my waistline/it's a scene and we're out here in plain sight/I can hear them whisper as we pass by/it's a bad sign, bad sign”

If Taylor and her lover were seen in public together people would start talking and she’s afraid it would jeopardize their relationship.

“Something happens when everybody finds out/see the vultures circling, dark clouds”

I’ll touch on this later but making this song about Dianna, when a fake article was released that stated that they were dating, the two of them stopped hanging out in public. And, something else I’ll bring up, after going out to dinner, Dianna and Taylor were swarmed by paparazzi which is horrible to watch.

“Love's a fragile little flame, it could burn out It could burn out”

Taylor’s scared that the whole world finding out will destroy her relationship with this woman (and with Dianna, it kind of did).

'Cause they got the cages, they got the boxes and guns/they are the hunters, we are the foxes and we run”

Boxes and cages really reminds me of the glass closeting Taylor started around the 1989 era. The “guns” definitely is the cameras that photographed every moment. Taylor and her lover have to continuously hide from the media in order to escape the scrutiny (this matches with Dianna too, because there pictures with them hugging and touching their other friends but never each other).

“Baby, I know places we won't be found/and they'll be chasing their tails trying to track us down/'cause I, I know places we can hide/I know places, I know places”

Taylor’s saying she knows somewhere where she and her lover can be together that the paparazzi can’t find them (this reminds me of I Know A Place by MUNA which is a queer band).

“Lights flash and we'll run for the fences/let them say what they want, we won't hear it/loose lips sink ships all the damn time/not this time”

Again one time when Taylor and Dianna were photographed by the paparazzi they were simply exiting a restaurant and going to the car (the flash is so bright in that gif). They ignored every comment thrown at them that time and just kept going. I feel like the last two lines reference the fake article that came out about them, and the rumor that Dianna and Taylor were in a love triangle with Tim Tebow. But, because all were denied and Taylor and Dianna stopped seeing each other as much, it saved them from having to face more scrutiny.

“Just grab my hand and don't ever drop it, my love”

They both want to hang on for hope that they can be together one day.

“They take their shots, but we're bulletproof (I know places)/and you know for me, it's always you (I know places)/in the dead of night, your eyes so green (I know places)/and I know for you, it's always me (I know places)”

“Take their shots” reminds me of the cameras chasing them again and they’re bulletproof because they won’t give the media and truth to the stories that they’re spinning.

Dianna thinks of herself as having green eyes (here’s her bitmoji) and green eyes are referenced in Wonderland (which is a Dianna song, no doubt about it).

Wanting to return to a lover in the future (and always going back to someone) is a big theme in all of the Dianna songs in 1989, so it makes sense that it would be present here too.

I won’t go into detail about Dianna and Taylor’s relationship (you can read all about that on the Swiftgron Masterpost) but I wanted to go back to the idea about Taylor and her lover being constantly watched and scrutinized and how it is very reminiscent of Taylor and Dianna. There are only a couple of photos of them together that don’t come from the media but there’s one set of phots that really fits this idea. On May 15th, 2015, Taylor and Dianna went to dinner together, potentially with a couple of friends (based on photos). Here’s some screenshots from a gif of that night (the gif won’t upload but here’s a link to it [*flash warning*]).

First of all, this is horrifying. The amount of photographers there trying to take a picture of them for the tabloids (”they are the hunters we are the foxes”) and how bright it is. And, if you look carefully Taylor seems to be holding onto Dianna (”just grab my hand and don’t ever drop it”). If you watch this gif, you’ll see how this guy in the fourth screenshot just jumps on top of other photographers to get a photo of them. If the paparazzi were so brutal when she simply went out to dinner with friends (and a potential girlfriend) it’s no wonder that I Know Places exists.

Dream job: hm. I'd like something creative but with some structure.

They were going to see Hamilton. That’s what she’s most upset about.

They had been planning the date night for two months, weeks before they got a positive pregnancy test, and she’d been so excited. David had given them the tickets after receiving them as a gift when he bumped into Lin-Manuel Miranda on the street, discovering that the two of them looked like twins.

(“It was crazy”, he’d told Amy over the phone. “But anyway, I don’t really follow pop culture, so you can have them if you want.”)

Amy had been stoked - Jake was sure to love this play much more than he’d tolerated the first one they saw together, and they were going to have dinner at a proper nice restaurant while wearing actual fancy clothing. She had been thinking of busting out the red dress she wore at their first real date, and yeah, she may have been longing for the chance to see her husband in a tux again, so sue her.

The play starts in ten minutes and Amy’s in bed.

She should be sitting in a red plush seat holding hands with the love of her life and waiting to see the musical they both know too much of the lyrics to performed live in front of them, and she’s in bed.

She’s furious, and she’s too exhausted to do something about it, because being in your first trimester of pregnancy is everything but energizing. The excitement and gratefulness aside, Amy feels as if someone took one of the worst hangovers she ever had and extended the duration of it to weeks and months, then subtracted the fun alcohol-part and added extra mood-swings. She can’t drink at Shaw’s anymore and lacks energy to do anything else but go home and sleep the moment her shift’s over, she struggles to follow a conversation when she’s busy fighting a wave of nausea, and now she’s cancelling date nights. With the thought of her baby still an abstract concept she struggles to fully wrap her head around, the whole situation is mostly aggravating.

The lighting in the room is not as striking bright as before, creeping closer to sunset but not there, so Amy figures she must have slept for a while. It’s the kind of golden hour out now that she’d adore a romantic walk in, capturing a few cheesy couple selfies with her phone while enjoying the view, and she considers calling for Jake to ask if they can take one before realizing he's the one who decided they weren't going out tonight, not even for a walk or Hamilton. She's too tired, was barely able to keep her eyes open during their drive home, and it's a bad nausea day on top of it.

(“You're going to sleep,” her husband had stated when she insisted one last time that maybe she could do it, even though she'd had to throw up at the mere consideration of different food smells at a restaurant. “You need it. C’mon, I'll let you be the little spoon.”)

There had been no way for her not to fall for his offer, and she drifted asleep minutes after changing into pajamas and curling up in his arms.

She's alone in their bedroom now, but there's a folded neon orange post-it on the pillow next to her. The squiggly handwriting scribbled on it is one she’d recognize anywhere, and she grins as she reads it.

Went to the store to buy ice cream, the note says. Plus more saltines and orangina bc i know you like that best (you’re orangina!). Love youuu.

He’s drawn a collection of uneven hearts after the message. Amy traces one of them with her index finger, waking up slowly to the background noise of Taylor Swift being played from the living room and telling her Jake must be back by noe. She wraps the comforter around herself and sneaks out into the hallway.

He’s watching the Reputation Stadium Tour. It’s the All Too Well-performance, a favorite for them both in the two hour five minute-recording of the show, and she expects him to be so focused on the television it's a surprise when he turns around, eyes lighting up when he sees her.

She's tired and she's bitter about the cancelled date night and she's felt sick for the entire day, but once she sees the content, dreamy smile he meets her with, all of the world’s misfortunes seem less disastrous. All the miracles appear brighter, too - a joyful spark in her heart reminds her they're having a baby together, and every bit of suffering she's going through will be worth it thousandfold less than seven months from now.

“I would ask you if you managed to get some rest,” he comments playfully. “But I checked on you a bunch of times and you were out like a light for all of them. How are you feeling?”

“A bit better. I’m sorry”, she mutters. He wrinkles his forehead at her apology, so she explains it further. “For being boring. This isn't exactly the exciting date night we’d planned from the start, and it’s all my fault. ”

“Stop that.” He gestures for her to take the spot next to him on the couch and she does, resting her head on his shoulder for extra closeness and letting his arm snake around her waist. “Ames, you couldn't be boring if you tried.”

“We were going to a fancy restaurant! We were going to Hamilton!”

“Yeah, but we totally made a couple purple-haired theatre kids the happiest people in New York when I sold them the tickets cheap.” Jake shrugs. “All I care about in a date night is getting to spend time with my wife.”

“Your hopelessly boring, moody and nauseous wife?”

“My badass wife”, he corrects her with a kiss to her hairline. “My badass, incredible, gorgeous and awesome wife.”

“She sounds great, whoever she is.”

“Oh, trust me. She is.” There's a smile on his lips so wide she's tempted to kiss it off of him - she does, shamelessly, and he whispers the last words against her lips.

Taylor has moved on to her Blank Space-performance on their television. Amy notes how Jake is moving his feet to the beat of it, miming along to the lyrics. She's seen him watch this movie at least ten to fifteen times and he doesn't seem to have grown tired of it yet. As far as date nights go, Amy supposes they’ve both been through worse - at least there are no exes or depressed bosses to be found in their apartment tonight - but it doesn't stop her from wishing it could have gone differently.

She drapes her right leg over his lap so she's practically straddling him just to get closer, burying her face in his neck and making a mental note to thank him for immediately ceasing to use the aftershave whose scent makes her sick now. He lets her stay close, doesn’t even complain about her blocking part of his view of the tv, and she makes another mental note to really, really thank him whenever her energy returns.

“I really am sorry about tonight, though”, she whispers after a minute, ever so distracted by his fingers tracing feather-light patterns on her neck. “Wasn't what I planned.”

“Title of your sextape.”

“Ha-ha.”

“You love me”, he reminds her, grinning. “Really, Ames, it's okay. I don't mind this.”

“I know, but…” She bites at her lower lip. “I guess it hit me that we won't be able to go on dates like this for much longer.”

“What do you mean?”

“Before we only had to coordinate work schedules. Now we’ll have to find a babysitter, and deal with leaving our baby to someone else, and it’s going to be difficult. I feel bad for ruining what might be one of the few opportunities we have left in a long time.”

Jake frowns, running his free hand through his hair in a fruitless attempt to smooth a few curls out. He just makes it messier, but she doesn’t have the heart to tell him.

“You’re really worried about that?”

“A little, yeah.”

“Do you want logic or reassurance?”

Years of partnership, courtship and now marriage have taught them a few handy tools in dealing with each other's anxieties. This distinction is one of them.

“Logic”, she decides, and he nods. “If you have anything.”

“I do”, he promises, pausing the television at a shot of the concert audience holding lights in the air. They almost resemble a starry night sky, Amy thinks when she looks back at them. “Let's start with time. It's only May and we're having a baby in December. We have oceans of time to go on dates, especially if you start feeling better in the second trimester like all the websites say.”

“We're going to have a lot to prepare and it's going to go by fast. Plus, it's still not a ton of time. What do we do when they’re here?”

“Charles”, says Jake, and she furrows her brows, so he explains. “You think we’ll have a problem finding babysitters? On the list of people who will love our baby the most, Charles’s name is literally right below ours. You know he'll be dying for every chance he can get to spend some time with them.”

“And what if our kid doesn't like Charles?”

“All kids love Charles, I doubt ours will be an exception.”

“Fine”, she relents. “Babysitting is settled. Still, we’ll be tired, and hesitant to leave them, and it’ll take work and I just...” Amy can feel tears burning behind her eyelids - they’re always too close now, all of her emotions intensified. “I didn’t want to cancel this. I wanted to give you something nice as a reward for putting up with me right now, and this is what you get. Taylor Swift, hanging out on the couch, and your emotional mess of a wife.”

He doesn’t say a word at first. She wonders briefly if if the reason he’s pursing his lips and watching her with an expression of either pain or pity is that he thinks she’s right, that she is letting him down. When he keeps lightly massaging her neck and leans in for a chaste but sweet kiss on her lips instead of complaining, it confuses her.

“Ames, I meant it when I said it was okay. I don’t care about the date nights, I care about you.”

“Just admit you’re disappointed.”

“A bit”, he admits with a weak smile. “But not for the reasons you think. It sucks that you’re not feeling well, and it sucks that I can’t do much about it, and it sucks that you’re upset about this. But I still think it’s a perfect date night.”

“In what world would it ever be perfect?”

“You’re here.” Another chaste kiss to her lips. “You’re here, we’re watching Taylor Swift, and I have a full liter of our favorite Italian gelato in the fridge. That’s as close to perfect as it gets if you ask me.”

“Oh my god, you bought the good ice cream?”

“Yeah?”

“I seriously love you.”

“Ah.” She recognizes the characteristic dorky grin from years ago as well as yesterday, but it makes her heart skip a beat all the same. “And here I’ve been all these years, thinking your love for me was fake.”

She punches him in the shoulder for that.

“You know”, Jake says when he hands her a generous bowl of vanilla and caramel ice cream, “We can have this kind of tv and ice cream-date nights when we have a baby, too.”

Most surprising show?

Zara Larsson. I was gently bullied into going - Dana suggested it, and then prodded me towards going in the hope that I’d be disappointed and ramp down my listening of her. Instead I was surprised at how good she was, and how much I enjoyed the set!

Most disappointing?

Lucy Rose in Brussels, through no fault of the artist herself - I overheated and fainted for the first time in my life three songs in, and so missed a large chunk of the set due to recovering in the foyer.

Farthest travelled?

Ancienne Belgique in Brussels - 255 miles or 409 km away from home.

States attended shows in?

Cheerful, grateful, euphoric, terrified, bored, knackered - and new for 2019, unconscious!

Venue most visited?

Concorde 2 in Brighton, twice.

Worst injury?

Nothing! I did bang my head when I fainted at Lucy Rose, but I totally calculator pineapple.

Most expensive ticket?

£60 plus fees for Rammstein. Worth every single penny.

Band seen the most?

Lucy Rose 2.2 times, just ahead of Anavae with two complete sets.

Best new discovery?

I was vaguely aware of Clean Bandit before due to them featuring artists that I care about (and Demi Lovato) on their album, but I didn’t click with them until their Pride set. Other than that, I’ve stayed fairly within my lane.

Bands seen this year that also broke up this year?

None!

Friends made at shows?

Every gig I went to was either with Dana or my family, save the Zara Larsson gig and I was feeling too anti-social to interact with the posers or the stans who filled the first few rows around me. 

Band members met?

Becca and Jamie from Anavae, and Lucy Rose - but I feel like it doesn’t count when they either took your wedding photos or have been shown them after a gig! Apart from that the obligatory Carly Rae Jepsen photo in a Rammstein t-shirt post gig, a brief exchange with Jenny Lewis before her set, and some grateful smiles from both Zara Larsson and her younger sister (supporting) at me actually enjoying myself during their sets.

Best souvenir from a show?

I didn’t get that much from shows this year. Zara’s shirts were not to my tastes, we’d got all the Anavae merch they were selling, and while I liked the dual pastel pink/faded orange Ariana Grande shirt, I didn’t like it enough to drop £35 on it. I had no such problems buying another Carly Rae Jepsen t-shirt, and a medium hoodie that was far too small for me in May but fits me now; I also got a Rammstein tour tee which features a very me design. Away from shows but still music related I received a Romance shirt from the Camila Cabello listening party that exposes my belly in a way that flatters nobody. I also went a bit crazy on new years day when, after watching the Taylor Swift reputation tour movie on Netflix for the fourth time, I got an email advertising discounts on her store. I picked up two more rep era t-shirts and some additional items when I realised I could spend £40 on shipping or the same amount on the softest, most comfortable hoodie I’ve ever worn!

Longest time in line?

About three hours before Carly, but it was completely worth it. We were on the barriers at Pride about eight hours before Kylie hit the stage, but we had other acts that we were interested in playing beforehand so that doesn’t count.

Shows seen from the barricade [front row]?

Oh, that’s a nice segue. Kylie from the pleb barrier, Lucy from the front row at the Barbican, and Jenny Lewis. We’ve also been very near the front at Anavae, Zara, Carly, and Aly & AJ.

Most shows in one month?

May had 3 and a half.

Most shows in one week?

Two, Marina and Anavae in successive days in November.

Biggest crowd?

Rammstein had 32,000 in Milton Keynes. No crowd size given for Kylie at Brighton Pride, though.

Any drunk encounters?

I’m fairly certain that the beer and chocolate tour around Brussels before Lucy Rose didn’t help my situation. I demonstrated that my lesson had been learned by having several beers before her gig at the Barbican in December - however these were free, courtesy of Camila Cabello’s record label. 

Top 5 best 2019 concert moments:

1. In keeping with my habit of wearing Rammstein shirts to pop gigs, I decided that it was only fair to wear a pop shirt to the Rammstein gig in July. After several Twitter polls I settled on my new Carly Rae Jepsen t-shirt. As you’d expect, this got me a few odd glances, as well as some positive comments (several people declared it the most metal thing they’d seen) but one in particular stood out. Passing the merch queue while looking for our seats I was suddenly yanked into a handshake and a hug by a very tall bearded gentleman, who explained that among their group of friends they were having a competition for band t-shirts, awarding each other points for each nominated artist spotted. They’d also picked a surprising artist each, on the proviso that they’d get 250 points (a near unassailable lead) if it was spotted - and this gentleman had picked Carly Rae Jepsen as his choice!

2. Zara Larsson. I know I shouldn’t be surprised that a Swede does pop well, but I was going in expecting Dua Lipa levels of charisma, and was surprised at her energy levels, enthusiasm, and general commitment!

3. Speaking of enthusiastic performances with high energy, Carly brought her traditional levels to London for a set that showed just how good she really is, and how much the general public are missing out by sleeping on her.

4. Marina (formerly of & The Diamonds) impressed me. Aided by a very enthusiastic crowd (it was the first time she’d performed in Brighton in seven years, and many of those attending didn’t look old enough to have gone to that last gig) it became a positive feedback loop - everything would galvanise the crowd, which she’d feed off of and up her game, which just excited the crowd further!

5. I got to see my childhood crush perform 15 minutes walk from my flat, and she included the campest, Euro-poppiest album track in the encore as a nod to the audience.

Top 3 worst 2018 concert moments:

1. Fainting was weird. I don’t much care for it.

2. I didn’t get home from Rammstein until half past 3 in the morning. I’m not young enough to cope with nights that late any more!

3. Genuinely can’t think of anything else negative to put here. Let’s see off the year on a high then!

What if the Album is called “More” or “Forever”?

So everyone think it could be called home, lovers, kaleidoscope, etc. (we all know the popular theories) BUT! Taylor said this statement:

A FEW people.  So it’s probably not one of the popular theories.  ONTO MY THEORY!  Taylor also made this statement:

Notice that she says “more” twice, in particular, “I’m exicted for MORE to get revealed?” Surely, it could just be choice of words.  But if you watch the credits for Netflix’s Reputation Stadium Tour movie, you’ll find something interesting under act 6...

DO YOU SEE THAT? “...MORE“!  What if act 6 symbolizes the 6th album (Reputation) and the “...” represents the next upcoming era, “More”?  Taylor nation also insinuated on twitter that getaway car might have a sequel coming up, which in act 6: right after “Why She Disappeared” .  Also, act 6 is the end, and the tour ends with pastel colors, possibly symbolizing the transition. Another possibly is that “...more” is refering to her lyric “FOREVERmore” and the “...” is implying that the album name is “forever”.  “Forever” is also a solid theory, because summer, palm trees, “ever” green chistmas trees, and other elements of the video symbolize eternity (credit to candycanesandpumpkinpie for pointing those examples out).  Taylor said the album name is in the video, and I know everyone thinks this easter egg says home, but when I look at it, I see...
