Thinking about how La Forger are a family that work in the federation for generations, mostly engineers and captains.

But Silva is a pilot. Technically a "black sheep" of the family, although I doubt George would ever have any kind of hate for his daughters.

I know the episode talk about this. But I just came to realize almost every pilot in star trek is come kind of black sheep.

kind of a coincidence that geordi's the chief engineer and a total nerd and data is the most technologically built lifeform on the enterprise (and also a total nerd), so of course geordi is his doctor, and obviously there's sexual tension bc he's literally playing with his wires like come on

kind of a coincidence that data only really gets visibly nervous/worried whenever geordi is in danger ("i have no emotions mcgee when geordi is in trouble") and geordi is overly aggressive/tense whenever data's off on his own/something happens to him

KIND OF A COINCIDENCE THAT GEORDI'S SO-CALLED WIFE IS NEVER MENTIONED OR EVEN NAMED IN PICARD!!!!!! JUST A THOUGHT TO PUT OUT THERE

what isn't a coincidence though is that they're literally polar opposites in every way and made to be soulmates totally not homoerotic best friends

a great example of the difference between TNG and DS9 is how Picard got all grouchy about Worf resolving Klingon political crises with murder but Sisko straight up suggested it. Worf righteously slew the scheming bastard who killed his baby momma and besmirched his family name and bonus it meant the guy who actually didn't hate the Federation became Chancellor, but Picard told him “now now Mr. Worf we mustn't go around killing people even if it creates a politically favorable situation for us, tut tut. I have to put a formal reprimand on your employee file”

meanwhile Sisko calls Worf into his office and says hey Worf. Chancellor Gowron is fucking up my war. Can you do a little...you know... *makes stabbing motions* and Worf goes uh you mean you want me to talk him Klingon to Klingon? appeal to his honour? and Sisko's like no he sucks and I want you to go kill him about it

I'm not the biggest fan of this series, and I only really thoroughly enjoyed when Data came back, but something about this scene is just so fucking special and important to me and I can't believe it's real and it actually happened.

I know for a FACT that after he's done dicking me down until I cannot walk speak or think, Jean-Luc Picard would make me the loveliest, most satisfying vegetable soup I have EVER had with a VERY large piece of baguette on the side and he would wrap me in a blanket and pet my head and put on an old movie and say things like "you're so right babe no one else understands Romeo And Juliet the way you do, your interpretation of their character arcs is so unique and brilliant. Thinking about Mirror!Q. I have my own personal headcanons based on the lore that Does exist but it’s mostly me just thinking out loud. One of my ideas in regards to it is that what we would call “Mirrorverse Q” is actually Q when he’s younger and playing out this fun new role of death and destruction and evil chaos as he’s honored as a god. Before he either realizes he doesn’t particularly like this kind of devotion/attention (he’s lonely and touch-starved; he’s not getting what he actually wants) or (the more probable option of) he eventually gets bored with all of it, it being the death and destruction and general misery that once was kinda funny/interesting to observe, and playing out “oh noooooooooo I’m trapped ahhhh the terrans cast me outttt of time and spaceeee and I’m locked away in a dimension that’s unreachable by normal means now I can only talk to you through a rlly specific and highly detailed rituallllll” and DIPPED. Hardcore. And proceeded to be bored until the Continuum went “alright. Judgement time.” and he met Jean-Luc which then took his entire attention. Bc. The Q are omnipotent/present and omniscient. I See Absolutely No Reason Why There Would Be Multiple Q Continuums. It ALSO explains why there are no other mentions of Q/the Continuum within that universe other than the Orion Blood Cult/Assassins of Q.

The other headcanon/general idea of mine of what’s happening over there is that this Mirrorverse!Q actually is another Q apart of a different Continuum— ! Which directly contradicts my comment about that making no sense but eh. Maybe it’s a Rule where Continuums don’t cross streams or something, which is why in PIC S2, they weren’t IN the Mirrorverse, per se, but something very close to it. Mirrorverse to the left 2 degrees /jov. But unlike the prime universe where Q is just an outcast who has thoughts and ideas and is a chaotic force of delight and wonder and fun, trying to get his people to change for the better and just— Be. Less. Bored— this Q destroyed his Continuum fellows. Outcast? No. (Not anymore at least) He has enough power to rule this damnable reality and he shall. So he built up his empire of puny mortals, since it’s no fun to just up and control the universe! Gotta have SOME resistance to crush under his heel— and almost did ! Until the humans locked him away— but unlike in the other idea where Q might’ve actually been the one to plant the idea within their community or simply played along with something they thought would work, the Terrans genuinely found something that would banish a Q. And upon that happening, he probably got pissed the fuck off about it, but does certainly it lets him plot and plan for when he does get out, and he’ll most definitely be itching to get back at those terrible and disgusting little humans who DARE think they can stand up to him.. and who just made the game he’s playing even more interesting. (After all; It’s a twisted mirror, not just “become evil”. The fact they (humans), more or less, put him in a timeout corner he can’t get out of (at the present moment; he’s working on it) probably got him ecstatic that there’s a group that actually CAN stand up to his play style. That probably excites him terribly.) And this other universe that’s crossed over a few times his people tell him about…… it may be worth breaking some Rules even he wouldn’t consider crossing, no matter how long ago they may become null and void to him..

kind of a vent—it's my first time watching star trek: tng and i really do love it, but i'm having so much trouble sitting with the male gaze-y parade clown damsel in distress they make of deanna troi so often... sometimes sitting down to watch tng feels like a gamble on whether the next episode is gonna have some real substance, be about some silly funny shenanigans, or be 45 minutes of stripping away troi's bodily autonomy for *checks notes* reasons. i know it's the 80s, but... ough
