Alright, Nickolas is back, and I want to mention that me and my friends also had our fair share of experiences with Nora. While it is not finished (as far as I know), I feel the need to share the doc explaining them here, because what it contains should tell you everything in our true experiences.

I don’t know if this is weird, but I don’t have many friends and I am weird, admittedly so…yolo, but this is just a diary post really of all the things on my mind right now.

• The response on ink & mistletoe was really lovely and I’m especially grateful for it while I’m still having a rough time.

• I really wanted to write more this week because I wanted to finish off ink & mistletoe and Truth & Talon before Onyx Storm comes out, but I have a migraine again and I’ve just been so exhausted it’s not happening, which sucks.

• I did start a new book though—my first of 2025—Just For the Summer by Abby Jimenez. One of my resolutions for the new year is to read more actual books, so I’m off to a start at least. One thing that wigged me out though, it’s first person past-tense? What the fuck is that, why are we doing that? My brain does not like.

• Speaking of Onyx Storm, should I start posting my theories now as I write them, or just save it for one big post a few days before?

• I’m still incredibly bothered by not only the continuing trend of oh surprise another special edition with content not available to you! But also mostly the response from other people to it, mostly Americans, because no one else is saying “no one’s making you buy them all” or “having choices is a good thing” because uhh *checks notes* we don’t? We just pay twice the amount of money you do for made-in-a-sweatshop, falling apart crap with less features.

• Also, just as an aside so you all are ready, I’m fairly certain there’s a special edition of Iron Flame coming…probably with bonus content. Someone asked if she was going to do one because it just had plain edges and she replied with a winking face. I’m going to say in Feb/March, and with dragon edges to match OS & the original FW print run. Call me Cassandra, idk.

• My (undiagnosed, I guess) OCD is getting worse, so if anyone has any tips or tricks for that throw them my way because seeing a psychiatrist in this town is not only the price of a small car, but almost impossible. Everyone’s books are closed, because we’re all a fucking mess apparently idk. They did say they had someone who might find me and my eclectic collection of mental illnesses “interesting” though, so I at least get to send my referral through 🙃

• Lastly, I am once again calling for people to stop drowning. If you come to Australia, please understand how rips work. If you’re not a strong swimmer, don’t swim anywhere there aren’t lifeguards. You are not as safe as you think you are, I promise you. Almost every day there’s been another drowning death that’s been entirely preventable and it’s infuriating, half the time there are kids involved. Don’t put your kids at risk for fuck’s sake. View the below if you’re curious (or coming here). I wouldn’t blame you if you couldn’t spot them from front on, most people can’t unless they grew up on the beach, but again, if you can’t that’s why you shouldn’t swim anywhere help can’t get to you. 31 people drowned in four weeks is madness when there are over 600 patrolled beaches in this country. And people worry about the wildlife, good lord.

Ranked in order of personal preference. There's a very clear theme of opening in the middle of a scene with limited POV. What can I say, except I am lazy and like to take as many shortcuts as I can? 🤷

10. Changes - [SilverV] Post-Mikoshi PWP with grumpy Johnny and Nomad V getting him excited about a party at Kerry's. Written for Reverse Big Bang based on some really cool art. It's my most popular fic on AO3 bc it's SilverV. The opening line is uninspiring. 😬

9. Lover's Spit - [Mitch/Val] PWP. Really nothing going on here at all besides smut. The opening is... not great, and feels very much overly wrought, but it really is PWP so IDK what to tell you. At least you know what's coming. Heh.

Val’s emerald eyes shimmer with desire in the dim light of the tent as she kneels before Mitch and reaches for the waistband of his pants.

8. Helplessness Blues (coming soon [heh] now available!) - [Ros/Val] A psychological investigation of V masquerading as PWP. (But really it's smut.) A fairly bland opening.

Deep in the pitch black safehouse, V holds her breath as she flips the switch to the generator.

7. Triangles - [Corpo V/Mitch/Scorpion] PWP. Again, nothing much but smut, this time with 50% more limbs to keep track of!! Really like the opening paragraph though. Here's two thirds of it:

When Panam suggests they stop for a drink after taking out the Raffens, V can’t say no, and when she suggests they invite Mitch and Scorpion, V goes along with that too, since they seem like good guys.

6. This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody) - [Mitch/Val] Would you be surprised to hear it's another serious thinkpiece concerning grief pretending to be PWP? I do like opening in the middle of a scene like this, in the middle of a drive:

“Tell me something,” Mitch says, glancing over as he takes a drag from the cigarette in his organic hand, then releases the smoke out the cracked window of the Coyote.

5. Untitled WIP; next in Into My Arms series - [Mitch/Val] A tender, slightly steamy piece inspired by a prompt that @theviridianbunny submitted literally years ago. It's in editing hell right now. However the opening is fun! What's Mitch up to??

Just as Val is finishing up her short backup shift on the truck, Mitch pulls up in his Colby and climbs out with a grin.

4. Untitled 00M WIP - [James Bond/M!Dench] I got reallllly into 00M over my Cyberpunk break last fall. Not sure when I'll get back to this, but I expect I will. I love Daniel Craig and Judy Dench's chemistry so much, and I know I'll watch Skyfall again within the next few years, and I'm sure it will put me right back in my feels.

M awakens quickly and motionlessly; her husband is off on his regular business dealings and without his usual snores, the room is still.

3. Know Your Rights - [Gen] a young Valentino meets a NCPD Patrol Officer. Written for an art trade with Steel, where I think I got the better end of the deal with this piece of Mitch lmao. Still, I really do like the opening. It's so disgusting.

The back of the cop car smells like piss and rotten garbage.

2. Blaze of Glory - [referenced Panzerboys] A prequel to NOGLY. Born from a poorly thought out in-game mechanic that gave random police histories to NPCs. Thanks, CDPR, for the trauma you inflicted on countless fans from seeing their favs (falsely!!) accused of things like, oh I dunno, sexual assault. Another of my favorite openings, and the piece includes a couple of my best sentences ever.

is the retroid pocket a good investment? i saw your tags and am curious! :]

i'm probably biased bc i'm so used to buying retroid but yea. it's slightly pricier than some other options you might find due to the price creep of the gradually upgrading chipsets but its definitely worthwhile from my perspective, as someone who likes retro emulation and android gaming. all retroids have bluetooth support to connect extra controllers, headphone jack for audio, sd card slot to load up games from, wifi for downloading more games, and display out options to connect to a tv or somethin! you gotta bring your own games unfortunately, but it does come built in with some emulation apps to install during setup, and a choice between using the standard android OS, or the custom Retroid branded Launcher to launch games from! generally i use my retroid to play PS1, PSP, PS2 and GBA games, although im pretty sure it can handle N64, Dreamcast, NDS and 3DS too. basically if there's an android emulator or RetroArch core for it, the Retroid can probably handle it, YMMV.

the most recent model line, the Retroid Pocket 5/Mini, is still available on the GoRetroid website. generally if you're buying a retro handheld then make sure you buy it directly from the original site/source so you don't get ripped off by some offbrand seller trying to pawn one of those 100-in-1 knock off consoles on you.

time for an autistic ramble about my collection since i love these devices so much...

the original retroid pocket 2! this was the first device that caught my eye and my gateway drug into retro emulation handhelds, as it only cost $80 back in 2020. there were pink, yellow and cyan colorways too, but indigo was the most popular option :P it was a little awkward, what with the switch style analog sticks not having R3 functionality and only having one gig of RAM, but it got the job done. it also had micro HDMI out to connect to a display, kind of a hassle since micro HDMI isn't too common, but they used to sell micro HDMI cords on their site along with other accessories (screen protectors, grips, cases, etc...)

the retroid pocket 2+ was an upgraded model released a year later for $90, with 2GB RAM and a touchscreen added. still no clickable analog sticks but oh well! i bought the PS2 style colorway, a lot of their colors are styled after other retro consoles. the 4:3 screen was kinda cute! difficult for playing PSP games since it letterboxes the screen, plus you have to do some extra tweaking in the emulator settings to get it to work properly...

less than a year later, they made the Retroid Pocket 3! this one signalled a change in their release system in many ways, most notably the fact that now every retroid model comes in 2 versions: a cheaper model (with less storage/RAM) and a premium model (with more storage/RAM). personally i've never had any reason to go with the cheaper model, especially since the power difference can be so vast between the two sometimes, so every model i have is the premium model. this one cost $130, which is quite the price jump, but the added quality made it worth it for me :) the RP3 was Retroid's first foray into a 16:9 device, great for playing PSP/NDS, and easy to work with the 3GB RAM. any 4:3 games will have letterboxing on the sides now (unless you have a widescreen hack or something) but i never minded that much. also, this is the first Retroid model with R3 functionality on the joysticks! it might not matter much to most people, but i really wanted to play Ape Escape on the go :3

at some point GoRetroid realized the Retroid line kinda peaked with the RP2 form factor, so they brought it back with some added improvements for those looking for an updated 4:3 handheld, now now known as the Retroid Pocket 2S. idk what the S stands for! its looks pretty similar to the regular RP2, but with clickable hall effect joysticks on the bottom, a PSVita style DPad, and up to 4 GB of RAM. i loved this one! for a while i used to switch between the RP2S and the RP3, depending on if i was in the mood for PS1 or PSP gaming. the black crystal shell was also neat, i love clear electronics :3 price went to $120, more expensive than the original RP2 line but cheaper than the RP3. worth the price, considering the QoL improvements they made over the original RP2!

then there's the Retroid Pocket 4, released around the same time as the RP2S. this model has the same shell as the RP3 for those looking for a 16:9 form factor, while retaining the improvements from the RP2S (hall effect joysticks <3). this device is currently my go-to for portable retro emulation, with 8GB RAM and android 13 compatibility. this one can play some lighter PS2 games, but i mostly use it to play balatro these days. also, convenient feature; since the Retroid Pocket series is just an android with a built in controller, any android games with controller compatibility can be played with the Retroid controls. theres also a gamepad mapper to map button controls to other android games that don't have built in controller support, but i've never used it so i can't vouch for it -_- the RP4Pro was $200 on release, yowch! still definitely a worthwhile investment, but a far cry ffrom the original price tag of $80 back in 2020... there's still some discounted models of RP4 on sale on their website, although there's not many left, as GoRetroid is mostly clearing space for their newest model...

...the Retroid pocket 5! this model signifies another shift in Retroid's design, as they've shifted to a PSVita looking model with the rounded features and glass front panel. i got the gamecube colorway since i really liked the vibes it has... aesthetically this is the best Retroid Pocket model yet. the 3d hall sticks also have RGB LEDs built in than can be customized from a built in app, and an OLED screen that looks especially gorgeous on the black RP5 model, as the bezel screen blends right into the rest of the glass face. this one is their priciest model yet, clocking in at $200 for the RPmini and $220 for the RP5. this model also removed the micro HDMI port in favor of a display out USB-C port like how the nintendo switch does. they also released an official dock with HDMI and ethernet ports to go along with it! i haven't switched over to the new model yet since its still 8GB RAM like the RP4Pro and it'll probably take a while to move some of my android apps over, but i've heard good things about this model! it's also linux compatible from what i've heard (ROCKNIX, Batocera) but once again I Haven't Tried Those Yet

but yea that's my collection! Retroid has served me pretty well over the years, i give it the Saint Lesbian Seal of Approval

ok, so i'll decide to put some update here...

please bear with me, i'll vaguely explain the problem:

Morning on Sunday (May 18 2025) 8am i finally finished a new piece of art and put those for adoption on my online-shop, then i just turned the pc off to do other stuff at home.

Around 7pm of the same day, i turned the pc normally and it was all working nicely, until i decided to go to my art folder, which is located in a different driver on my pc... and the OS (win10 64bits) couldn't find the directory. Or even, the WHOLE SSD. Which means a lot of my things had been inaccessible since then. I tried everything and there's still no solutions atm.

I have stored not only art stuff, like ref, graphics, icons and my doodles, but also some work stuff -- commissions done, templates for new comms, etc. I'm still not sure if i can access those or even salvage anything.

The driver also had digi-stuff and some older works of mine, like fanfics i cannot get back (some incomplete ones from 2011!) and files. Oh also friend's art, AT, collabs, etc.

Since then, i'm feeling upset because i cannot work without my stuff. and before you try to cheer me up saying like, "you stuff may be gone, but your skills not!" i don't mean it like... not having the will to draw anymore (i kinda went overly dramatic due to despair), i mean because the OS driver has only 2GB while the other driver i was using for that was the double of it (4GB). Oh my gosh I suck at gushing but let's see what I can come up with... I know!! Lemme ramble about Wilson for a sec!!

Okay, so, back when DS was on its first public version, a youtuber that I used to watch decided to play it and try to make a series out of it!

However, he eventually gave up because the game was too hard for him, so I did everything I could to get the game myself, all the way back in 2013!! And let me tell you... I was obsessed.

I wasn't too sure why I liked the game so much, considering that I used to (and honestly still do) suck at it, but after a while it clicked: I liked Wilson! Like... Really really liked him.

I kept it on some of my devices and would always revisit it every now and again, I tried out other survivors, tweaked the settings and world building and eventually I improved at some things!

But it wasn't as fun when I wasn't playing with Wilson, so I never ended up doing a run longer than 3 days with any of the other survivors, I always got rid of the save so I could make a brand new one with him!

Skip to a few days back, I was just looking through some stuff on the eshop and noticed that DST was on sale. And there he was again, the mascot for one of my favorite games luring me in just like he did all those years ago.

Of course, I got the game and tested it out! There were so many new things and it was so eye-catching!! He's still my favorite, of course, and I've made so many "peaceful" worlds just so I could explore everything and spend time with him!

You should've seen my reaction when I saw that he has emotes now, ESPECIALLY A KISS EMOTE!! I was so happy and flustered, it genuinely had me stimming for a solid minute or two, he's just so cute!!!!!

I'm not 100% sure what I want to do for my self insert in his universe just yet, but it doesn't really matter because he's one of my F/Os that has a more direct and stronger impact to me in real life!

So even if I don't make an S/I at all, we're both very much in love and I'm glad he was able to get my attention again, I didn't realize how much I missed him

4. switch on vpn and go to sites you want and get magnet links for torrents

5. what i have done is i have bit torrent installed on my actual os (the base os not the virtual one), bit torrent is smthg that you can use from the web and works in india, utorrent doesn't work anymore mostly mb, (imsorry i don't know about other countries, it'll take some trial and error but you can do it!) so copy magnet link from virtual os and paste it to bittorrent (oracle virtualbox allows this, if you have set clipboard sharing to be bidirectional) and voila it will start to download, congratulations you did some pirating and you also have kali linux to do some hacking, now go and earn some money using bug bounty hunting.

tldr: get virtualbox, get a virtual linux, install vpn, get torrent magnet link, install torrent installer on actual os, paste magnet link to torrent installer, start downloading

Other Ways:-

1. if your government controls the information you see and you have brave or tor browser you can go to .onion sites (basically what you call dark web) and read news articles on famous sites which have a .onion counterpart url? but for the love of god dont dive too much into the dark web (deep web) because its a bit dangerous (a lot, especially to younger people who're doing this, don't trust the internet too much and stay cautious), just stick to famous sites, which you can google or duckduckgo the .onion url of.

speaking of ben ten transformations, idk if this is canon or not (i just started watching the series again from 5 years ago) but what if the transformations were super painful,,, like how in alien force the animation is his bones shifting and whatnot Ouch!

Oh! This was answered in Omniverse, actually :D

I love talking about transformations/transformation sequences for the franchise so please don't mind if I ramble a bit, haha.

Short answer is that Ben says, "It sorta feels like... A good stretch." In response to Young One's (Rook's younger brother) question on how it feels to transform.

Longer answer...

The transformations are canonically very quick, a simple flash if an outsider were to look at it. This is seen throughout the entire series, but we never got an outsiders perspective (besides the flash) until Omniverse.

When we do see real time transformations, they look very... Weird. In a cool sort of way lol

I'm sure the x-ray view from UAF happens as well, as yes, his bones and muscles do indeed need to shift around in order to transform. Seeing the x-ray is cool, but it is a slower perspective of how the transformations work. Just like the OS transformations! But instead of an inside look at what's going on, it's more of a look at what's happening on the outside of the body.

Again, both UAF and OS are slowed down versions of what's happening in basically an instant. I absolutely adore both perspectives that the slowed down transformations give us, because it really shows what's going on to the body while transforming.

Now, getting into OV's transformations, it's a bit different, as sometimes there's a sequence, but most of the time, there's a green flash or a real time transformation. The green flash to represent real time transformations (sorry I'm repeating that a lot) has been in the franchise forever, but actually seeing Ben transform within it was new.

There's a lot of funny screenshots of in between frames for the sequences such as this one, but the result is a smooth as butter animation for the transformation.

Now, if the Omnitrix transformed Ben any slower, I'm sure he'd feel some sort of uncomfortable feeling. If it were even slower, he would guaranteed feel some sort of pain. I mean, take a look at Goop's transformation. He literally melts.

This segment devolves a bit into headcannons, so bare with me.

Now, I highly doubt that it Azmuth would allow the device, especially the completed one, to hurt the user when transforming. The prototype Omnitrix is in a similar boat, but in that case, if someone told me it hurts the user even slightly, I would probably believe them to a degree, since it is a prototype. And it's not like Azmuth cared a whole lot about the comfort of other living beings at that point in time.

The finished Omnitrix however, was built with a human, specifically Ben, in mind. So having the Omnitrix hurt him when he transforms would more than likely discourage the user from using the Omnitrix. Although, it is Ben. You never know with that kid lmao.

Now, with Ben's wording in mind, about the "good stretch", I don't think we can rule out a slight uncomfortable feeling when transforming. When you stretch, it feels alright for a bit, but sometimes you do feel tense, and you can wear your body out if you stretch too often or in weird positions. And I don't think having your entire body shift into a different body is a comfortable position.

So, perhaps he could feel a feeling of discomfort when transforming. But he's had the Omnitrix since he was 10, so by the time he has the completed Omnitrix, he's probably used to the feeling.

Honestly, I find it so cool that we get so many perspectives on the transformations of the series. We get a slow skin level, a slow x-ray/inside, and a real time outsider perspective. If we put all three together, that's what a transformation looks like in detail. Diamondhead has gotten all three perspectives, which is an awesome note I'll end on.
