I'm gonna take this opportunity to give a shoutout to Asimirus, as in Assimilation Papyrus, created by @mechagic and (unless I missed anything) adopted by @tv-channel-x!

I'll have to ask for permission before sharing a link to a lore draft I was linked before that they wanted to fix the writing in, so I'll paraphrase a summary:

There's meta reasons why Papyrus hasn't gotten as much attention in Sans-focused AUs, but what about lore reasons? Let's say there's a Papyrus going around and... absorbing alternates of himself into his hivemind... and every time this happens, everyone else's memories of that Papyrus are also taken away.

*When he targets a Papyrus, Asimirus will stalk them while his hivemind– functioning like a group chat– assesses whether to "save" this one. He is driven to protect them from being forgotten like their lives depend on it, reasoning that they can't be forgotten as long as he remembers them.

The assimilation isn't always perfect, though. Sometimes his family and friends can still remember the name, but nothing about him, so Asimirus leaves behind a cardboard cutout of the absorbed Papyrus, and no one can notice the switch without memories of the real Papyrus to compare to.

He can only absorb Papyrus, however, so amalgamates like Sixbones or Comic Papyrus would be excrutiatingly slow to assimilate. And it constantly fluctuates whom among the absorbed are currently conscious.

Asimirus doesn't remember his own AU of origin, and it gives him a severe headache when he tries to. All he knows is that "saving" his alternate selves is all that matters anymore. He doesn't seem to mingle much with other outcodes, either, preferring avoiding their drama if he can help it. He can travel between universes by himself using his scarves like grappling hooks. (They also act in place of his missing arms. Perhaps one of his assimilation attempts didn't go according to plan...)

He especially keeps an eye out for any other Papyrus that can leave their universe, believing that he has to absorb them before they do because it will put them in danger, and he calls the Flowey that may accompany him Anemone.

Gigabash Character Overview: MechaJURAS

Remember in the Pipijuras review where I mentioned that Passion Republic Games could add Pipi’s mechanical doppelgänger to the roster like they originally envisioned in order to add content?

This is so corny it’s great

I suppose it was a matter of time before they added it, although I’m surprised it’s free, then again maybe it’s a consolation for the fact that MJ was intended to be in the original roster.

Mechajuras is the fourth mech in the roster and is a bit of a tank (literally). It lacks a lot of movement options outside of the standard dodge and a rush attack you have to charge, and doesn’t have great air game. But MJ does hit decently well, has a grappling hook to bring in opponents from halfway across the arena, a ranged drill attack, and an anti-air attack (that aims a little low so it can be tricky to use).

Mechajuras also has rocket boosters that can allow for slight hovering and surprisingly give it one of the highest jumps in the game.

Design

In some ways Mechajuras was definitely easier to implement into the roster than other characters. As a scrapped fighter repurposed into a stage boss, PRG already had a model and many animations to work with, so they didn’t actually need to make something from the ground up. I will say though that playable mechaJ is smaller than the stage boss version, but is still very large compared to the rest of the cast. Also the tank treads don’t actually move so it sorta just glides along the ground, but I think we can give PRG a pass on that since they are a small indi team.

As for the character inspiration itself, it’s pretty obvious. MechaJuras is to Pipijuras as Mechagodzilla is to Godzilla. MJ specifically has a sort of bolted together steel look that showa MechaG had.

It might be worth mentioning though that as a mech with drill hands and tank treads, there might be some Moguera inspiration.

Apparently I wasn’t the only one who didn’t like that we had to wait for lore in a future update when the mighty dlc character pack came out, because we get character files for Mechajuras right off rip.

Apparently the playable MechaJ is actually the fully complete version while the larger arena boss is a prototype, both being products created by the Global Titan Defense Initiative. There’s actually quite a stretch of time between the creation of the two versions, with the project having been circling the drain for years and about to be axed by higher ups in the GTDI. But it was suddenly revitalized and given way more resources, and for a particular reason. Apparently the GTDI’s Giga Counters have been going crazy and picking up massive spikes in Giga Energy, meaning a bunch of kaiju might be waking up.

Now we don’t actually know when this is as the character files for MJ don’t have any dates on them. So production of Mechajuras 2.0 could have started at the beginning of the 2020s before the story modes started and Thundatross was revealed to the world, or it could have started after the decimation of the Aegis Program at the paws of Balzarr and by extension after the story mode. So either production started in preparation for the second kaiju crisis, or it was started in response to a future third one.

Creation of the fully realized Mechajuras was overseen by Dr. Adler, chief of weapons research and the person put in charge of the Pipijuras mind control program after Dr. Reiner left for OtamaTEC in 1998. The higher ups gave him about a year to get it done despite his begging for a 2 year roadmap, so the crunch time the MechaJuras department was facing must have been ungodly. An offhand comment even mentioned that new coffee machines would be given to the department just to speed things along. I have no doubt someone probably died working to death just because of these unfair working conditions.

But it paid off, and despite being the most technologically crude of the mechs in the game, it’s the only one that’s mass produced. The second character file is literally just a massive advertisement for MechaJuras, because of course countries have to buy their own mechs on top of paying the GTDI for other protections. I think the GTDI might be a little spiteful after the world made the Aegis program in an effort to be extorted less to rely on them less. The trailer also mentions that various weapons for MJ are sold separately too hilariously enough, so if you want any weapons on your MechaJ then you’re paying extra.

The Global Titan Defense Initiative is going all in on MechaJuras though because apparently they’re gunning for it to dominate all entertainment industries and have already agreed to five movies with Universal, or I’m sorry, Universell Pictures. It’s absolutely hilarious that GTDI is trying to pull a helldivers and make their mech some big patriotic thing everyone will be obsessed over.

Overall I’m glad I can finally pierce the heavens with Mechajuras’s drill and it’s pretty neat that we get it for free! Here’s to Passion Republic Games adding more characters to Gigabash!

Here’s an idea than manifested into something more. This was originally going to be an homage to Sonic Adventure 2 with Rodan (Sonic) and Godzilla (Shadow) from the movie Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II. But, I then did Mechagodzilla and decided to make something like the final result. I do think I could’ve done a more better drawing of Baby Godzilla, but I think it’s still decent now. Enjoy!

The larger mech snapped its jaws once, twice, then settled. From its analysis, this smaller machine was not a threat to it. A flip of a switch somewhere far away sent the signal to its metal brain that the thing- Metal Sonic -was not a threat to its masters either.

"METAL SONIC." The alien war machine repeated, updating its processors.

So I was thinking about parts 37-40 (as any sane person does) and I was watching and, like, the beating Triangle got from Superior Mechagodzilla?? His ribs and his back had to be MESSED up (not to mention his poor collarbone). Inserting a cut because I go on for a bit lol

He is punched hard enough in the chest here to make a CRATER. That is a rough hit. That’s painful. And after that, Mechagodzilla literally shoots him into the sky.

That shooting star is TRIANGLE!! Literally on freaking fire. And then he leaves a literal trail TORN INTO the ground when he hits it

He had to be so messed up from that fight. He actually is. When he woke up he couldn’t even properly run away or fight MechaG. Mowcuss thought he was dead. So did Mechakong. When Triangle tries to rush himself into standing up and going after Mowcuss, he literally can’t and falls down.

And then a few MINUTES after this he legit makes himself get to Mowcuss’s stronghold and powers through it. And fights. How much adrenaline was he on?? And not only that, but he had zero plans to find Monkey and Noodle-Neck. He knowingly planned on taking on Mowcuss and his allies with MechaG as his only possible ally. He stumbled upon his friends by ACCIDENT.

Also, fun fact, it can take bruises hours to show up. Meaning Triangle was probably unconscious. Imagine Monkey or Ghidorah (probably Ghidorah since he was in the best condition) treating him and finally having him all stitched up and they put a hand on his chest to hold him steady and Triangle’s ribs just go *cronch* underneath their hand and bend slightly inwards. And then the horrific bruises show up on his back and chest and no one has ANY idea what happened because it wasn’t Mowcuss who did it and they weren’t there.

They wouldn’t think to ask Charles Bob Leonard because why would he know? And MechaG wouldn’t know- he was just there for the aftermath. The only person still alive who knows is unconscious.

And he isn’t waking up.

Every time I watch GvK I'm still disappointed that they used MechGodzilla as the antagonist instead of going MechaGhidorah. They had the Ghidorah head right there and could have saved MechaG for a later film. They also wasted Serizawa Jr. in this film as well. But then again, I think we all wanted Dougherty to continue as the director but instead they gave us Wingard.

Reasons why I think 'Godzilla vs. Kong' would've worked better Coming Before rather than After 'Godzilla: King of the Monsters' as a 2014-KotM Intermediary Film

(1) None of the world-shaking stuff that happened in KotM (except for Ghidorah's skull, covered below) had any bearing on the events of GvK. But if GvK had come before KotM with a different character in Madison's role, then maybe the Monsterverse writers wouldn't have unceremoniously retconned the entire "new age of monsters" ending and the other future story material that KotM offered.

(2) If GvK had come after 2014 but before KotM, then: (a) ...everyone assuming that Godzilla's turned against humanity would've been a lot more forgivable, since his true morality would be a bit more questionable before KotM. And (b) Apex's mission and ideology would have fit in with and reflected the zeitgeist of anti-Titan and anti-Godzilla fear and anxiety that came after G-Day, before KotM proved that Godzilla is defending the world and that humans and Titans can coexist symbiotically. Apex and MechaG's failure at the end of GvK could've made the government desperate at the start of KotM when they're trying to take over Monarch and make the Oxygen Destroyer. All in all, this version of GvK would've reflected the fear and panic that the world finding out about Titans inspires, before KotM's story sees humanity start to come to terms with their terrifying but incredible new world.

Honestly, Apex's actions in the canon timeline coming RIGHT on the heels of the post-KotM coexistence just makes me wonder WHY Godzilla keeps giving humanity at large so many "get out of jail free" cards.

(4) KotM's giant monster cast, Mass Awakening, having a bigger and more powerful Big Bad in Ghidorah than GvK had in MechaG, its explicitly world-ending stakes, Mark and Serizawa's interactions with Godzilla and the military aiding Godzilla... all that makes KotM feel like a season finale. GvK on the other hand feels to me more like it fits a lot better as a standard mid-season episode, with the much lower number of monsters, lack of a global apocalypse and with where Mechagodzilla ranks on the power and threat scales.

(5) The whole "Kong Doesn't Stand a Chance Against Godzilla After What He Did To Ghidorah" meme in the leadup to GvK's release. Would've been completely avoided if GvK had come first before KotM, and there would've been more ambiguity to whether Godzilla or Kong wins the title clash with KotM having not yet come and gone. Godzilla fighting Kong could've been Godzilla's stepping stone to fighting the even more powerful Ghidorah in the next film.

(6) HOW I'D TACKLE GHIDORAH'S SKULL IN THE STORY IF GVK CAME BEFORE KOTM - The reveal that MechaG's telepathic Titan skull came from Ghidorah would be reserved for the Stinger. Maybe there'd be Monarch scientists sweeping in to take the skull after the conflict's over, and they remark on how the skull looks like a dragon, and how the Titan it came from was around in ancient times. Cue a shot on a tablet or screen depicting a three-headed dragon, setting up Ghidorah's appearance in the next film. (The idea being that in this version, the skull came from a head that was cut off and regrew in ancient times before Ghidorah was frozen.)
