BL Title: My Secret Love

My honest opinion:

This is one of the best series I have watched so far. Not only does it have electrifying chemistry between the couples, but also the bonds between the characters seem rather genuine and beautiful. For example, the bond that Mek, Bear and Park share makes you feel as if they have genuinely known each other since the start of their university. Also, the friendship between Kimhan and his friends is really sweet. The plot is rather easy to grasp and is really enjoyable despite having a fair share of cringey and cliche moments.

The MekKim couple sure had their ups and downs but all's well that ends well right? Even though I didn't like Mek in the beginning, I eventually started growing fond of him once I realised that he was simply a fun loving teenager who didn't have bad intentions but rather just wanted to have some childish fun. To be honest, his character reminds me a lot of Xiang Hao Ting from "History 3: Make Our Days Count". As for Kim, I love how he simply accepts the situations that are beyond his control and is always up for challenges and doesn't back down easily if ever.

Next couple is Bear and Bomb. True to his name, Bear is indeed like a giant cuddly bear who has nothing but only good intentions. He is protective of his friends, caring and really compassionate. I love how he always prioritised Bomb and even when he was too busy to celebrate their anniversary, he simply apologized and tried his best to make Bomb happy once again. That's exactly how a relationship works. It's not about holding your ground, it's all about finding a common ground. As for Bomb, let's all agree that he is a cuddly teddy with clothes on and a total Daddy without them. LoL 🤣, I am cringing at my choice of words. Anyways, his character sure is rather calm and charming. And I guess that is exactly what balances out Bear's super energetic and enthusiastic aura.

The ParkLee couple is one of the only few couples in a BL series, that stuck around each other from beginning to end. There are just some couples whom you look at and simply feel like they belong together. ParkLee are clearly that couple. Them being together just makes sense. Yeah, I really don't know how else to describe it. But they are my favourite couple.

Last but not the least, we have TimMai. Unlike Third from "Theory of love" who let's his crush have his way, Mai is a rather strong personality who doesn't take shit from no one, not even his crush. He is strong, protective, attentive and really supportive. As for Tim, I feel like the writers are trying to make us realise the difference between reel and real life. In his reel life, Tim is a Mr Perfect and many aspire to be like him. While in reality, he is an idiot who doesn't understand his own feelings and only realised his mistake when it's almost too late. But in the end, he did redeem himself and ended up becoming the best version of himself.

All in all, I loved the series and I highly recommend watching it.

My Secret Love is an inoffensive way to spend a few hours but I don’t think it’ll be high on my rewatch list. I did like the fact that there was no skirting around sex - the couples were all clearly sexually active once they got together without any blushing maidens. My favourite couple were Park and Lee - a rare LTR (seven years at the beginning of the series and no real drama, good comms and mutual support - Tharn and Type could learn some lessons).

Fav bits this ep - Love Actually/Theory of Love nod from Bear to Bomb, the whole getting used to sleeping together every night montage from Mek and Kimhan, plus the wedding of course.

And a question for @absolutebl - there was shaving. Actual shaving of the face. How many BLs have we seen shaving in? Showering yes (lots) but shaving?

Mek can't find the courage to say he likes Kim when he might be going overseas but deserves to know that and not to just be left hanging in what he thought was the start of a relationship because that's what it was.

But we've always known that Mek struggles with speaking his feelings. He shows them well, he takes care of people and he watches over them and he's possessive and he's jealous but he doesn't say it, he shows it.

And when he's put on the spot in a situation where he has to use words when he was just thinking about a future where he went overseas? He's going to freeze. He's going to freeze and he's going to panic and he's going to clam up and shut down.

Especially since Kim has been shown to often be the only one to be able to get him out of that zone and now Kim is just... done with that. Because he wants a relationship and Mek has just shut that down in his own struggles.

Ugh.

It hurts and I do wish we'd seen more of Mek being indecisive before that? But I get it. I can see it.

I completely forgot what My Secret Love was supposed to be about when I started episode 1. I really thought we were going to have a story about a guy crushing on his friend and thinking that his friend wants them to casually sit around shirtless in his room 😂

1. Kinnporsche- if you follow me you'll know how much I love this show it's giving EVERYTHING i needed it to give and i am so glad i watched it live bc i would have binged it in one night and lost so much sleep lmao

2. Sky in Your Heart- I'm a little behind but hoping to catch up this weeked. I love this show. Mek in a bl was already enough for me to get excited but I also loved Fah in Star in my Mind so it was even better seeing him in his own show. FahPrince are so cute together they have so much chemistry right from the first meeting and i love love love them so much. Highly recommend it to anyone who liked atots too bc the vibes are identical.

3. Mama Gogo- y'all know i love this show soooo much. It's cracky and over the top but very much self aware. The cast is incredible and storylines are really fun and interesting. The chemistry between the two main leads is already pretty good even tho i believe it's a slow burn enemies to lovers but like IT'S THERE okay. And everyone else in the cast has great chemistry too. So invested in the drama between Annie and Tina like i want them to get in a physical fight so bad i think it would be extremely funny. 10000/10 HIGHLY recommend this one!!!

4. Astrophile- the only way this show could redeem itself is if it turns out Kimhan is secretly a villain and ends up alone in the end, like 500 Days of Summer. Otherwise this is a complete and utter failure. Not only is the main plot mind numbingly boring but the main character is so insanely unlikeable even Bright stans i know refuse to continue watching it. There's zero chemistry between the supposed main couple and the guy is literally a walking red flag. Every single character and side plot other than Kimhan's whole thing is genuinely pretty good, but they get so little screentime and we are instead constantly forced to watch Kimhan use his past trauma as an excuse to be a fucking incel while manipulating the female lead into building a relationship with him. Don't watch this show or if you do just skip every Kimhan scene idk what else to say. There's a reason it flopped across all media platforms not even halfway through. I haven't even been able to get past what 2 eps? Shit sucks.

5. Ghost Doctor- i started this forever ago and even tho i genuinely love the show i have been slacking on finishing it. Kdramas are soooo long and I've been busy so 🤷‍♀️ but it's on netflix now so hopefully that can be a good motivator to finishing it. The story is about this genius doctor who falls into a coma and starts possessing one of his residents whom he has a hate relationship with to treat patients. Very funny and at times cracky show but balanced out with a serious thriller ish plotline going on underneath. Would recommend this to anyone who likes kdramas.

the childish one-upmanship and comparison of whose bf (nubsib's gene vs mek's kimhan) would be the most useless competition but they are both determined to win (for no good reason other than their firm belief that their bf is best bf)

Summary

Kim is a member of the student association and is keen on maintaining the university's good reputation, while Mek specializes in prank videos and is also in charge of SOTUS. My Secret Love was actually good this week. ALL THE SECONDARY COUPLES! They were lovely. This was less an Ep. 11 Of Doom and more a squee at the happy, domestic boys.

I just wish the ring had fit properly. C’mon Park - you’ve been with the man for 10 years.

I liked the fact that at least 3-4 years had passed and the plants Mek have to Kimhan, which he carefully tended (well, he may have been a bit rude to Fartbag) hadn’t grown more - or at all - clearly stunted by the lack of lurve in the bedroom. I expect them both to be 5ft tall in ep 12

My Secret Love suddenly upped its game with all our main couples together and being touchy feely which probably means we’re in for a world of pain. The ex arriving is not a good sign.

I like the fact that Mek and Kimhan are clearly sleeping together despite not being official faen - no blushing, reluctant virgins here. Our secret long term couple are back together and Bomb and Bear are sweet!

Still don’t like Tim - Mai deserves better. Grab Pete Mai!

Tim is very dog in a manger about Mai and, frankly, Mai deserves better than either you or Pete at the moment.

They are all SO ANNOYING. Except Park and Lee - they’re sweeties - and Bear and Bomb who are suddenly domesticated and cute.
