I'm really excited for the ISU's new minimum age rule to kick in in a couple years (going up to 18 for senior figure skating), because I always have such mixed feelings watching the teens skate. Like Ilia Malinin is objectively the best and he landed a goddamn quadruple axel, which I did not think was possible, but he is SIXTEEN and I'm terrified that he's going to break his body before his artistic sensibilities mature.

Also the program he did for his free skate is genuinely too old for him. Like he needs to be an adult before I can comfortably watch him skate to "Euphoria" by Labrinth in a shirt that looks partly like a stained glass window and partly like a chest harness

in 3 years men’s singles programs are just gonna be like 60% crossovers, 10% longass glides to painfully telegraph jumps, 30% egregiously under-rotated, laborious quads, 0% flexibility. no completely unironically, in 3 years your average male figure isn’t even going to be able to touch his toes.
