06. Something you see in art a lot and love.

So, I don't play any of the animal-ish races in FFXIV (maybe some day - I am unfortunately obsessed with elves 😔 - I do have an extremely adorable Viera retainer though!), but I adore when Miqo'te, Au Ra, Vier and Hrothgar players really dig into the animal aspect of their characters and extend it beyond the bounds of what's presented in canon.

I think it's a nice opportunity to do some funky things, both in the realm of character design and in fanfic. Bring the inhuman to the human. I love little details like tail swishes as another form of hand gesture, or ear movements to indicate mood. Small things that make them feel more like their own lived-in species. It can bring so much dimension to a character and I love seeing it. 🥺

It makes me really happy when I hear cool Au Ra headcanons that go a little off the beaten track (please tell me about your lizard people!! I want to know the things!! The weirder, the better!)

16. A tiny detail in canon that you want more people to appreciate.

I wouldn't necessarily count this as canon since it's more about in-game mechanics than story presentation, but I have so much appreciation for the combat animations (it's one of the reasons why I'm levelling all the combat jobs, I want to see the things! Hear the sound effects! Embrace being a nightmare ball of ruinous might to the sound of my mudras going bong-bong-bong! can you tell I just got NIN to 90).

One thing you notice as soon as you start multiclassing is the carry over of animations between jobs. Now, this could be some recycling on the part of SE, but even if it is, I do think there's intent behind it. It's interesting to see what kind of connections you can make between jobs, which ones echo each other either in their design or their purpose. There are some similarities I've noticed between Dark Knight, Reaper and Black Mage, specifically one animation on BLM that is reused on RPR. Works for me as a trifecta of the dark arts. 🤣

They're kind of fun little notes to pick out and use for fuel for your WoL headcanons!

Calling from her apartment in New York last week, Sandra Bernhard sounds almost chipper.

“I am,” she says. “So much to be chipper about. Just hanging out — waiting for my kid to get home from school.”

So if she’s in the Big Apple, that means that Dixie Chicks front woman, Natalie Maines, lives next door.

“When she’s here. Natalie is in Los Angeles most of the time now, because her husband [actor Adrian Pasdar] is on that show ‘Heroes,’” Bernhard explains.

Her mellow tone slightly shifts when comparisons are drawn between Maines and the last time Bernhard was scheduled to play Dallas: in 2002, during her post-9/11 “Hero Worship” tour.

Bernhard’s Gypsy Tea Room gig was abruptly yanked — along with a performance scheduled in San Antonio.

When the cancellations were announced, the lesbian performer says she was as surprised as ticket holders.

Bernhard says promoters in Bush’s “announced” home state got cold feet — that they were scared of providing a platform for her shoot-from-the-hip critiques on Orange Alerts and the countless fundraisers for victims of the World Trade Center bombings.

At the time, Maines, of course, was country music’s sacrificial lamb — the Texas sweetheart who spoke out against Bush’s escalation of U.S. troops in Iraq.

As the Bernhard and Maines children played together, the next-door-neighbors spent long hours discussing the culture of “Bush paranoia.”

“It has been the weirdest six years — especially if you’re trying to perform in a city like Dallas or you’re down in Texas. Like there’s been a kind of self-imposed censorship. But I feel a sea-change coming on — especially since the November elections,” Bernhard says.

Less than a year ago, she was still feeling the sting for making anti-Bush criticisms.

“You must remember, for 10 years Rosie was in total denial — pretended to be something else. My hat is off to her in a certain way. But for somebody like me, who has walked the sexual line and been very forthright and hasn’t had anything handed to her, I’m not impressed,” Bernhard says. “I’ve always paid the price for being outspoken and completely being in everybody’s face: whether it was the gay community trying to make me their spokesperson; or the straight community saying I was too sexually ambiguous,” Bernhard continues. “In this day and age, it’s pretty easy to be outspoken — with all the blogging and shit. I like Rosie, but I don’t think she’s a revelation.”

Perhaps Bernhard will give Rosie a run for her money.

Bernhard’s Dallas visit will reunite her with Jack E. Jett, a gay bomb-thrower in his own right.

When production for Jett’s now-defunct talk show “The Queer Edge” moved from Haltom City to Burbank, Calif., Jett and Bernhard joined forces.

It was a potent and weird cocktail that worked — although no one in North Texas got to see the show, which aired on the QTV network.

But the twosome are trying to keep their chat-show dreams alive.

“We’re pitching the resurgence of our talk show. But won’t be called ‘The Queer Edge’ because we’re going to open it up to everybody. We’ve been spending some time together, finding producers who will take our project and get it set up. Places like Bravo,” she explains.

It’s been almost six years since Sandra Bernhard performed in Dallas.

I ask her if she’ll be doing anything special for the gig — in case North Texans should slap themselves silly if they miss it. And in true Bernhard style, she ends our interview with a threat.

“Oh, honey. Every time I walk onstage, it’s special. You all had better come out. The world has become so ‘American Idol,’ so cookie-cutter. Everybody is laying up on their asses at home — not supporting the great artists,” she says. “So you better get all the queens, the drag queens and dykes. If I do not see the place sold out, I will be readying everybody to filth.”

A decent dream. The drummer from Toad the Wet Sprocket gave a list of his favorite albums. Bob Dylan and Neil Young said it was a pretty good list. Lucy Liu wouldn't step on any lines or cracks and leaped over a big piece of old carpet, and Meredith Viera made up a little song about that, which gave me the giggles. Lucy gave me two cigarettes and hinted that she would like to see me later. I thought, "I must smoke in this dream." And then woke up.

While it would be impossible to prove scientifically that ''The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking'' is the longest children's film ever made or Pippi herself the most irritating of characters, it would be difficult to persuade any audience otherwise. Pippi is the freckle-faced, irrepressible heroine with the braids that stick out parallel to her shoulders, and one of the film's only points of interest is the star's hairdo. The angle of those stiffly wired braids varies subtly from scene to scene. 2

I mean, look at it, it had to compete with Cocktail: 

I learned about this movie while watching old commercial breaks in the middle of the night once years ago. The commercial had this sad little song that went, “Pippi Longstocking is coming to your towwwyn...” and it was almost like middle of the night vaporwave.

58. Air France Flight 296 (6/26)

I originally learned about this plane crash back in 2004 when I was up late one night watching that old Trio channel. This documentary titled, “DIAL-H-I-S-T-O-R-Y” was airing, and it was about the uptick of airplane hijackings and bombings in the 1970s and 1980s.

The ending credits of the film is plane crashes set to “Do the Hustle”. One of the crashes was this Air France plane flying into woods and exploding. For years I thought it was a hijacking that had a deadly ending. No, it was an air show flight gone horribly wrong. It was the Airbus A320′s first flight and the passengers were journalists and raffle winners. There were 130 passengers, and only 3 died. That’s amazing considering how fiery the crash looked. 

The cause of the crash is still very controversial. Some sources blame pilot error, some blamed Airbus’ new computer systems:

Aviation experts have praised the system, which is designed to override many pilot errors. Several industry officials suggested that the pilot on Sunday may have turned off safety controls to give him greater freedom to carry out air-show maneuvers.

Christian Roger, president of the Air France section of the pilots' union, said the accident was caused by a ''technical problem.'' After the accident, the pilot, Michel Asseline, who supervised training of Air France pilots on the A320, told a rescuer that he had sought to increase power, but that the engines did not respond. 5

I’m Jules (they/them), and welcome to my DA blog. This is a sideblog so I will follow from @sunrisenfool, which is my main blog.

I’m 28, mixed latine and slav, and a person of colour. I like world-building and creating fake legal systems for fantasy worlds. My favourite class to play is rogues, and my favourite race are elves because that’s the fantasy race I decided to latch on as a person of colour to project feelings into the narrative. You know how it is sometimes.

Sometimes I have very particular opinions about certain things in canon, but if I ever talk about them please don’t take them as a personal attack because unless someone is being an asshole, harmful or both in my posts, I will never address things personally. I just think differently.

I have 2 primary worldstates (I have more, but these two are the ones I actually post about) and 2 primary WIPs. You can find information on them below, but feel free to ask me questions!

Worldstate, Side A: ‘What is Right Over What is Easy’

Song: Thus Always To Tyrants - The Oh Hellos

Warden: 🌙 Juno Mahariel 🌙 (they/them)

Stats: Rogue, crowsbow sharpshooter. Nonbinary bisexual. Ranger, assassin and scout legionarie. Convincing. Dalish hunter, Warden-Commander of Ferelden. Best friends with Alistair, Morrigan (used to have a crush on) and Rahvi Brosca (@atypicalacademic), romances Zevran and Sahi Tabris (@atypicalacademic).

Protects the circle mages, crowns Bhelen and later supports Vijaya Aeducan’s (@atypicalacademic) coup. Does the ritual with Morrigan, slayer of the Archdemon with Rhavi Brosca.

Twin and youngest sibling of @atypicalacademic‘s Gaadha Mahariel and Eravan Mahariel. Recruits everyone but Loghain, whom they kill in a duel claiming the Vir Banal’ras. Keeps Duncan’s dagger until their death. Saves Amaranthine, their Keep survives. Helps rebuild the Wardens in Inquisition.

Dies a Warden’s Death.

Champion: 🎭 Rowan Hawke 🎭 (she/her)

Stats: Rogue, dual wielder. Nonbinary, bisexual. Duelist and assassin. Charismatic, helpful. Smuggler and Champion of Kirkwall. Bethany survives and becomes a circle mage. Best friends with Varric, Bela and Merrill. Romances Fenris.

Cousin of @atypicalacademic‘s Maxim and Milena Hawke. Does not help Anders but opposes Meredith. Eventually makes up with Sebastian. Is enemies with Aveline.

Knew Malcolm’s secret and would’ve taken it to her death were it not for the events of Legacy. Survives the siege of Adamant. Married to Fenris, helps him in his travels as the Blue Wraith - they are eventually known as the Blue Wraith and the High Red Queen.

Inquisitor: 🌿 Arviraven ‘River’ Lavellan 🌿 (he/they);

Stats: Rift mage, scholar of the veil and arcane physicist. Nurse and First to the Keeper. Believes in the reunification of the Dales under the elves. Never claims to be chosen by Andraste. Faithful to the Elvhen Gods. Known as the ‘Herald of Hope’, ‘Vassal of Dirthamen’, and ‘Keeper of Thedas’.

Sides with the mages, supports Briala, makes Leliana Divine. Keeps the Inquisition. Formerly friends with Solas and will stop him no matter the cost. If their people had value then, they have value now.

Arviraven is well known and well connected with various Dalish clans and some city alienages. More than a First or apprentice, Arviraven was raised to be able to take on the task of the reunification of the elvhen and the reclaiming of the Dales. Cheery, cheeky, honest and nurturing, a diplomatic scholar who sees beyond the world that is today into the world that could be tomorrow.

Nonbinary bisexual. Romances Dorian and Navin Cadash (@atypicalacademic). Eldest sibling of Viera Lavellan. Used to date Merrill up until the first year after Act I, during the events of Dragon Age 2. Best friend of Cassandra, Josephine and Eravan Mahariel.

Worldstate, Side B: ‘Blood and Tradition’ - This is both the mirror to ‘What is Right’ and sometimes coexistent with it. Both worldstates should be understood, if not together, in relation to one another, and cannot be understood without the other.

Warden: 🩸 Iraya Surana 🩸 (she/her)

Stats: Mage, elven, despises being called “of Kinoch Hold”. Trans and a lesbian. Blood Mage, Arcane warrior, Keeper. Romances Morrigan and Vijaya Aeducan (@atypicalacademic). Best friends with Tatiana Amell (@atypicalacademic) and Juno Mahariel, who takes over as Warden-Commander.

Protects the circle mages, crowns Vijaya Aeducan.

‘Disappears’, eventually comes back as some make-shift Keeper to a ragtag group of lost elves. Gets Mythal Vallaslin in her 30s.

Champion: ⛈ Carlota ‘Charlie’ Hawke ⛈ (she/her)

CW: Manipulation and gaslighting from a parental figure

Stats: Mage, mixed elven (doesn’t seem it). Bisexual. Blood & force mage. Despite being known as ‘Charlie Hawke’ she is an Amell. In my worldstates, when Revka disappears she takes with her the only child who has not been discovered to be a mage yet, who in this case is Charlie. To protect her, she convinces her life as an Amell was not true, asking Charlie to refer to herself as Charlie Hawke and to tell people Revka’s name was Leandra.

Charlie doesn’t remember her father. She also features as champion in @atypicalacademic‘s worldstate ‘Hell and High Water’, making her the sibling of her Amells: Claudia, Andrea, Xavier and Tatiana. Her Carver becomes a Warden.

Known as ‘Bloody Charlie’, ‘Bloodlust Carlota’ or ‘Queen of the Maleficars’, she is a highly demonised figure out of her usage of the mage rebellion to rise to power. Romances Anders. While originally angry about Anders’ bombing of the Chantry because it interfered with her rise to power (which matters to her more than anything), she supports the rebellion and claims herself in line to be Viscountess before it starts.

Romances Anders. Enemies with Varric, Aveline, Fenris and Merrill. Her only ‘friend’ is Isabela.

Inquisitor: ⚔️ Viera Lavellan ⚔️ (he/him)

Stats: Warrior, Dalish, First Knight of Elgar’nan. Reaver. Bisexual. Believes in the reunification of the Dales under the elves. Youngest brother of Arviraven Lavellan, hobbyist jeweller.

Conscripts the Templars, allows Arviraven to pass as him in Redcliffe, though most of the mages are lost as an Inquisition force. Romances @atypicalacademic‘s Sylvaine ‘Mesmer’ Seyras. Enemies with Solas and faithful to the Elvhen, even more so than their Gods, for he is a Knight of Elgar’nan.

He believes the most in Arviraven, thinking that his eldest sibling ought to make the political decisions. Keeps the Inquisition, abdicating in favour of Arviraven.

He’s best friends with Iron Bull and loves tormenting Dorian as his in-law.

And The Lovers, Do They Dream? (Worldstate: What Is Right Over What Is Easy): A gothic romance meets magical realism retelling of the romance of Dorian Pavus and Arviraven Lavellan.

Also described as “Crimson peak with a happy ending meets Apollo throwing his pride-month-edition ball of prophecy at guy already on his way towards radicalisation.”

The Song of Dirthalath (Worldstate: What Is Right Over What Is Easy): He has had many names in history. Before he was disowned, he was Quenath’enal. Afterwards, he was known as Vir A’dirth Revas’an’dar or ‘Spymaster’. This is the song of a High-born ancient elf born into nobility, who lost everything and everyone, only to gain them again and lose them again. Over and over.

This is a story of the price of resurrection. This is the story that sings ‘Ara Ma’thalan Lethandar, Dirtalath Viradirth’, for we know of the Creator but not of what was supposed to happen to them: Dirthamen one day would rise in Elgar’nan’s place, with Abundance to his right and Will to his left. This is the story of the forsaken, should-have-been, Elvhen God of Will.

Alternatively: Prickly, ancient asshole with a heart of gold lives a thinly veiled allegory for the trauma of survival.

She was a director and worked in a variety of adjacent fields. I’ve know the magnitude of the role she plays in my life for almost as long as I’ve known her but I’ve only realized it was emotional affair recently. Originally when my therapist (who you MUST know looks like a white haired Meredith Viera) asked “have you ever considered that she’s in love with you? And for a second time when I realized her presence in my life has prevented me from seeking out other women.

ah, okay ignore my little follow up question in my response to your last ask about other women.

1) can’t believe you have a hot therapist too, 2) if by any chance the therapist is nyc based and takes insurance will you dm me her info 😭😭😭 i’m still looking for a therapist.

what have you done with this knowledge about her preventing you from seeking out other women? curious because i’ve been in this situation myself before and never really found a way to deal with it
