Announcing the forth annual Mass Effect Relationships week from June 1st to June 7th.

This is a chance for us to show some love to all the different relationships within the original Mass Effect trilogy AND Mass Effect Andromeda. Be it romantic, familial, friends, pets (like the space hamster, fish, and pyjacks), bromances, besties, acquaintances, frenimies, enemies, mentors, etc.

Rules:

Everyone is free to contribute.

You can post whatever you want. Such as fanart, gif sets, edits, fanfics, head canons, general discussions, etc.

No ship wars or racist/incestuous/sexist/lgbtq-phobic content.

Please tag mature content with nsfw, and any possible triggers with the relevant tags.

Please put this tag as your first tag so I don’t miss it. You can also tag/mention me in your posts if you’re worried I won’t see them.

MERweek 2020 Fanfic and Fanart Prompts  ( made by me this year 😎)

Note: These are suggestions to get you started. You can write or draw whatever your heart desires, as long as it stays within the rules. Also you can use these for edits and gifs too if you want 😊 Day 1: first impressions. Describe or draw the first time they met. How did they meet? What was their first impression? Was it negative, neutral, or positive, and did it stay the same? Day 2: hobbies. Describe or draw their favourite mutual hobbies. What activities do they like to do together? Maybe they are learning new things for the first time? Or one person is teaching the other something they enjoy. Day 3: mass effect + andromeda AU. Describe or draw a moment the two universes collided. Shepard and the Ryder twins could be half siblings or cousins. Characters from both could be related somehow or friends. Maybe even The Illusive Man and Alec Ryder used to be friends and now hate each other. The sky's the limit! Day 4: we are family. Describe or draw a familiar moment. Are they close, or estranged? Are they blood relatives, or family found with friends? Day 5: emotional moments. Describe or draw a time when one was emotional, whether it be pain or joy. How they handled a death of a loved one. A reunion with someone that they hadn't seen in a long time. Something that was touching but in a joyful way. Day 6: disagreements. Describe or draw a tense moment. Did they ever disagree about something, or have a huge fight? How did they resolve it? Are they enemies now? Or were they enemies to start with? Day 7: celebrate good times, come on! Describe or draw a moment of celebration. Whether it be a birthday, valentines day, christmas party, anniversary, or any day that is special to them. It could even be a day you created.

Mass Effect Relationships Week 2019 

Day 1: Competition

The Kepral Research Association recommends that all adult drell limit their hot shower usage to once a week, and use an alternative dry rub method to keep clean. Coupled with a Postwar water ration system on the Citadel, the restriction usually suited me. 

Usually. It was hard to shower alone with Ori around- always her decision, never mine. She said it was to helpfully scrub my back; I think she wanted my water allowance.

2019 Mass Effect Relationships Week - Fanfic Prompts

As part of the Mass Effect Relationships Week, or #MERweek, being held by @cactuarkitty to celebrate all relationships within the original Mass Effect trilogy and Andromeda (all kinds of relationships - romantic, platonic, friendships, bromances, familial, enemies, frenemies, working relationships etc.) I was asked once again to put together a fun set of optional fic prompts for writers to have some fun with.

The week runs from  July 1st to July 7th and is for both the original Mass Effect trilogy AND Andromeda. Remember, these prompts are all optional - so have fun with them! :)

As always please be sensible and sensitive when writing fics - tag for appropriate triggers and follow all of the main MERweek event rules on @cactuarkitty‘s blog.

The Prompts

Day 1: Tall Tales 

All relationships have those stories. You know the ones. Those famous stories. The good ones. Like the time Shepard took down the reaper on foot. Or Kaidan got involved in the Vorcha mafia. Or the time Vega got drunk and kissed Steve. What? It happened. It totally happened.

Day 2: A Night on the Town

A lot can happen late at night. Maybe Down a dark alley ... or maybe in a bar. Enemies can meet for that final fight. Friends can have hilarious adventures. And lovers can do what they do best! 

Day 3: A Friend in Need

You can take this prompt where you want to. A genuine plea for help on the battlefield, a moment of kindness in which one person realizes how much they love the other. Go nuts.

Day 4: Gifts

What monster doesn’t like getting a present? But who knows what’s inside of that box, and what it might lead to ...

Day 5: Extreme Emotions

Write about a moment when emotions between your characters became a little extreme. Did their relationship become stressed? Did things get hot? Did loves almost break up? Drama, angst, smut, fluff - everything is on the table!

Day 6: Confessions / Secrets

Relationships are all about confessions ... or the things we don’t confess. Go on - tell me a little story about your characters deepest darkest secrets.

Day 7: Real World AU

Let’s have some fun for our final day! Time to drop your characters into an alternate universe story set in the real world. Hey - it’s all optional. If you don’t want to, you don’t have to! ;)

The view is breathtaking.

The whole planet is lying at their feet, the horizon of its wild beauty stretching as far as eyes can see. The distant mountains provide enough shadow and freshness to cool down the heat of the late afternoon, birds are singing in the sky over the waterfall and butterflies are lazily chasing after blazing rays of sunshine high above their heads. 

There’s not a soul in sight, no one to disturb their reunion. They escaped the tumult of the city as soon as they could and landed the shuttle in the uncharted wilderness, far away from all civilization. A fertile and unexplored territory is offered to them; if they listened carefully, they could hear the soft splashes of the water in the lagoon nearby or the buzzing of insects flying around. The jungle is a hive of activity, the opulence of its nature flowering in so many rich and luxuriant colors.

Yes, the view is stunning. They would notice it, if only they were able to take their eyes off of each other…

💖Mass Effect Relationships Week💖

It’s Mass Effect Relationships Week, hosted by @cactuarkitty (thanks for organising this!), so I thought I’d share a silly head canon I have for Gil and Scott.

Scott loves Gil’s dimples when he smiles, also those fine line wrinkles around his eyes. So much so that he’s inclined to try to make Gil laugh a lot just to see them. Lucky for him, licking his face is something that tickles, but also something that Gil thinks is low-key icky, so Scott get’s lots of awkward smiles - dimples, wrinkles and all - for licking his face.
