Do you think hunter ever went back to exhibition to tell artyom and sasha that he was alive? Or did they have to find out through disparate rumors, like how hunter learned of artyom's success

Hi thank you for the ask! I’m gonna be so for real with you I do not remember a lot from the second metro book.

From what I do remember, I feel like it would be more realistic (and true to the sort of stuff Glukhovsky writes) if Hunter doesn’t come back to exhibition. On the other hand, Hunter is a very determined and ambitious guy, even though he was beaten down a lot after the first book.

At the very least I’d say he would send messages to exhibition in whatever way he can, especially since he and Sukhoi were friends and he obviously saw potential in Artyom or he wouldn’t have given him his quest in the first book. I’m sure they’ve heard rumors and legends about him as well, though.

Metro 2033 is a wild fucking book cause Artyom keeps getting into Situations and when it’s not a horror novel he’s meeting so many people with so many stories. He cannot catch a break it’s almost funny. Artyom really feels young in the books. He’s clearly never left his home station before. By chapter 10 he’s already died a bit inside he’s just along for the ride because by god hunter gave him a mission and he will complete it.

A thought just popped up in my mind... What if Hunter is a guardian angel... first of all he constantly says his job is to protect humanity and second of all mutants are scared of him the dark ones didn't kill him when he threatened them instead they were torturing him with visions BUT WHAT IF he was just not able to be killed because he's a more powerful being than the dark ones

An introduction is perhaps necessary, I'm Hikaye and as a child I was forbidden from playing video games. Of course I disobeyed but my forays in the gaming world were bite and run, mostly a farming web game and some time spent on an old secret Nintendo DS with a cracked cartridge with the 12 dancing princess platform games and some other random ones. When I went to uni I got minecraft and then made a steam account and got the Sims 4, CKIII, TW:Warhammer and played them for a lot, a lot of hours just simply dicking around and having fun.

So I decided to just, learn how to game and so, having never touched an action game i got Dark Souls and bought my first controller. I figured that if I was to start I may have as well gotten gud from the start.

Metro 2033 Redux — Chapters 1 & 2

Oh man... Metro 2033 is a very intense game. Part survival FPS, part story driven narrative of a world gone mad. As someone who hasn't played a lot of first person shooters, I've been finding this an excellent — if eccentric introduction into the genre.

I must admit, I was a little off put by the controls and the narrative at first. Levels were passing by so quickly with very linear interactions with people I barely knew, followed by extremely short scripted conflicts that forced me to use the controls I hadn't gone the hang of yet. But as I got into Chapter 2 (which is significantly longer than 1!) I quickly came to realise the flow of the game and how the beginning levels had prepared me to traverse the big open areas — the winding corridors of the abandoned metro station, and the ravaged surface of the post-nuclear world. And broken up by different zones and markets, that allowed me to upgrade my weapons and prepare for the next leg of the journey.

As I see it so far, I am following in the footsteps of a lone wanderer named Hunter to accomplish this nebulous goal of defeating these strange monsters that are ravaging the wasteland... although I don't know, that seems a bit of a tall task. Maybe it's possible, since I keep seeing visions of some kind of shadow monster amidst the toxic environments? Either way, I am getting somewhere by being escorted quite a ways by fellow survivors to help me get across the city — each one less helpful than the next. (My opinion of Bourbon dropped off quite a bit after he left me behind on the surface to make my own way to Polis.) But as it stands so far, the narrative is functional in establishing how the world works and getting me to connect to my own character as he is assaulted by bandits, dog creatures and flying pterodactyls with horrifying grappling animations! I have never felt my buttcheeks clench so hard trying to get from one safe zone to the other.

The combat is also surprisingly simple so far. There are upgrade options, but it is blessedly enough for me to wrap my head around it all and still be able to use my weapons to my advantage (except the grenades, but I don't think I'll use them anyway.) All while maintaining both my health and the filters on my gas mask — I noticed that after a while, I stopped getting prompts about checking up on those. I think at that point, I knew enough of the gameplay loop to keep all those factors in mind while moving across the levels! As a result, I only died a few times due to silly mistakes like falling down a ladder shaft. 😂

This, and the continued reliance of companions will be very helpful in getting me to my goals... although I am curious about where this will all go. The opening scene seems to suggest that Artyom may not make it out alive — but there is supernatural shit involved, so I'm skeptical about where we'll end up. Either way, this has been a good start despite being forced to play on a controller... which I hate for first person shooters. So I'm quite interested to see what we do next! Although after having gone up to the beginning of Chapter 3, it is a little annoying that my companions have to keep dying on me...
