Feliz 5 de Mayo! So, it is clear from my Story quiz “What is celebrated on 5 de Mayo?” that some people think it is Mexican Margarita Day or Mexican taco & beer Day. Which, of course, should be celebrated, I agree. One of my daughters put Mexican Margarita Day, so I have to reconsider her school probably, although she said it was an error. 
Well, for those in doubt – it is a celebration of defeating the French at the Battle of Puebla by the outnumbered Mexican army. It was a small but inspirational victory for Mexico, and four days later, on May 9, 1862, Cinco de Mayo was declared a national holiday.
Even though the French would eventually defeat the Mexican Army and take control of the country under the short-lived Second Mexican Empire, which lasted from 1864 to 1867, the victory in the Battle proved that Mexico itself can be a formidable opponent worthy of international respect. And the fact that the country was led by an indigenous president held a special symbolic significance. The theme is loved and used in many weddings and events. I love the brightness, cheerfulness, and colors.

I can take a “regular photo”😂😂 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In fact, I take a lot of regular photos in a session, I also take all sorts of irregular photos that are unique and exclusive to the couple I am collaborating and connecting with. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I always have an idea about where and how each session might look - I actually visualize the session leading up to it, but as any experienced photographer knows, rarely does the plan look EXACTLY like the REALITY, so being flexible, adaptive and creative with the tools at your disposal typically is how I end up rolling. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This particular photo came at the end of a really long makeout session with Courtney and Matt, and very close to the end of the shoot and they were just beaming and smiling, having fun lying in the middle of this park in the city and it screamed AUTHENTICITY of who they are as a couple. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That’s the point of my photos CONNECT COLLABORATE CREATE The genuine and authentic version of you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But you’ll have to book me to experience what that feels and looks like🤓👍🏾💯 . .
