Swans is a weird band for me. I’ve only listened to snippets of SFTB and TBK, but the overall impression I get from their discography as a whole is Fear. Just looking at these albums, the song titles and artworks, I feel like all of their works would be uniquely unpleasant and disturbing. I don’t see how they could be as popular among music nerds as they are. I feel like Swans plunges into the heart of depravity and dread that I don’t think I can handle or appreciate. I’ve read about some of the fucked up shit Gira did/went through, and idk. How do those experiences not bear down upon the listener? How do people return to the projects made by this band? How is the subreddit icon boss baby replacing the To Be Kind baby? How do you listen to projects titled, “Raping A Slave” and “Public Castration Is A Good Idea”????

12. a song from your preteen years

I can't believe you did this to me but Welcome To The Club Now by Manian this is just a mess of autotune and i found it through a Transformers AMV and they play it at the gym I go to and I'm being forced to admit I used to listen to this - this is a hatecrime bestie fuck you fuck you fuck you-

23. a song you think everyone should listen to

This was really tough but I guess I Wanna Be Your Dog by The Stooges because aside from it just being good it inspired a lot of classic punk bands to, y'know, exist and you can still find traces of it in punk today still

28. a song by an artist with a voice that you love

This was kind of tough because there's multiple vocalists I love; Jeff Rosenstock, Micheal Gira, Stefan Babcock, Vaden Todd Lewis, Hayley Williams, Brittany Luna, and Jake Ewald to name a few - eventually I settled on Jeff Rosenstock I feel like Jeff vocally is really good because it gives the impression, at least to me, that every single song he's on you could 100% do yourself - in spite of the fact he's been doing vocals for years - you can hear him strain when he screams and him gasping before and after doing so or how he struggles a little to hold a note doing a falsetto but does it anyway he's amateur but in a good way, I think ***BNB showcases that very well
