Il volume rende omaggio a un iconico “fashion duo”, Ossie Clark e Celia Birtwell due creativi inglesi il cui sodalizio artistico e personale, breve ma molto intenso, ha dato origine a uno stile inconfondibile che ha lasciato un segno nella Londra del periodo compreso tra la minigonna di Mary Quant e il movimento punk sovversivo di Malcolm MacLaren e Vivienne Westwood, dal 1965 al 1974. Ossie e Celia è la storia di un’alchimia speciale, una delle prime coppie artistiche in cui uno stilista e una designer di tessuti hanno lavorato insieme completandosi in totale armonia fino alla loro separazione nel 1973. Celia era la creatrice delle meravigliose stampe ispirate alla natura e alle diverse correnti artistiche che Ossie, con la sua abilità nei tagli e nella modellistica, trasformava in abiti sensuali e femminili grazie alla leggerezza dei tessuti come crêpes, sete e chiffon che hanno conquistato il jet-set internazionale e la scena musicale dell’epoca. Da Brigitte Bardot a Liz Taylor, fino a Verushka, tutti erano affascinati dalla loro moda. Mick Jagger, Brian Jones, Keith Richards, Jimi Hendrix, Marianne Faithfull, Anita Pallenberg, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Bianca Jagger e Marisa Berenson sono solo alcuni dei personaggi che Ossie Clark ha vestito. Partendo da un primo importante nucleo di abiti provenienti dall’archivio di Massimo Cantini Parrini, arricchito di ulteriori prestiti provenienti dalla collezione americana di Lauren Lepire e dagli archivi londinesi della famiglia Clark e della stessa Celia Birtwell, il volume racconta il contesto e l’evoluzione dei due artisti tramite abiti, tessuti, disegni fino a oggi mai pubblicati, testimonianze video, foto ed editoriali d’epoca.

Oltre sessant'anni di carriera di uno dei grandi maestri della fotografia del Novecento Un omaggio a Richard Avedon (1923-2004), il fotografo statunitense che ha legato il suo nome e i suoi scatti a riviste iconiche come Harper's Bazaar, Vogue e The New Yorker. Celebre ritrattista, Avedon fu tra i primi padri della fotografia di moda di cui rivoluzionò lo stile quando, già dal 1945, tralasciò le pose statiche per collocare le modelle in ambientazioni reali. Quelle di Avedon sono immagini quasi cinematografiche che portano chi le osserva a immaginare i racconti e le storie che sembrano evocare. Davanti all'obiettivo di Avedon non sono transitate solo le modelle più famose dell'epoca, ma anche una ricca compagine di personaggi tra i quali attori, danzatori, celebrità, artisti, musicisti, scrittori, attivisti per i diritti civili, fino ai capi di stato. Inoltre, non di rado il medesimo soggetto veniva ritratto più volte e in periodi diversi, creando vere e proprie relazioni fotografiche che rivelano aspetti differenti sia della persona ritratta, sia del suo rapporto con il fotografo. Realizzato in collaborazione con il Center for Creative Photography e la Richard Avedon Foundation (con main partner Versace e media partner Vogue Italia), Richard Avedon. Relationships presenta oltre cento fotografie di moda e ritratti iconici, appartenenti alla vasta collezione del Center for Creative Photography: dagli artisti Jasper Johns, Andy Warhol e Louise Nevelson a Ezra Pound e Truman Capote, da John Ford e Michelangelo Antonioni a Humphrey Bogart e Marilyn Monroe, da Jimmy Carter e George Bush a Malcom X e Kofi Annan, da Bob Dylan, John Lennon e Paul McCartney alle modelle Dovima, Veruschka e Linda Evangelista. Da questi straordinari ritratti emerge la capacità di Avedon di catturare espressioni del volto, gesti del corpo, momenti, cambiamenti, stili e tensioni che hanno attraversato la nostra società. Qualità messe ancora più in evidenza dai ritratti in bianconero che lo hanno reso celebre. Queste foto, dove sono riprese personalità che hanno segnato la storia del Novecento, modelle o persone comuni, regalano emozioni a ogni sguardo curioso sull'uomo.

2022 review

A little late but there it is! The 2022 review. The year was full with conventions, very little fanmail returns (not because lack of trying though) Lots of new shows discovered. But lets start with the conventions. What a thrill it was. After the Covid lockdowns 2022 was finally convention year! 2022 was my convention record.

CONVENTIONS

Dutch Comic Con Spring Meeting Colin O'Donoghue again was absolutely amazing after so many years! This time in my own country and not Paris.

German Comic Con Spring This may or may not be my favorite of the year. Its a hard pick between this 1 and the Winter edition. The Vikings cast is always the best and the sweetest. They are all just so, so nice! Also an amazing opportunity for me to meet some of The Witcher cast and Alyssa Milano (who was my teenage idol)

Magic Con The most disappointing con of the year. I was suppose to meet Miranda Otto and Aidan Turner (long time con dreams/wishes of mine) but both cancelled. But I had a lot of fun with friends and I got to meet some of The Rings of Powers cast.

German Vikings Con What a blast! The sweetest cast of all time together at 1 convention and meeting George Blagden after being on my wishlist for such a long time wow!

Dutch Comic Con Winter Only met Stephen Amell and Jenna Coleman at this convention. Stephen Amell was awesome. Did a sweet hug photo and his panel was fun. Jenna was nice and seemed more relaxed then at other cons.

German Comic Con Winter Again the Vikings making my convention for me. Especially Clive Standen en Jordan Patrick Smith.. they are so, so lovely! Leo Suter from Vikings: Valhalla was pretty amazing as well and since Vikings: Valhalla is my current obsession show it was again an amazing opportunity.

These are just the actors I named but I had so many great meetings in 2022. In 2023 I sadly can’t do as many cons as I would like to.

FANMAIL

2022 was a disaster year for fanmail. The worst of all time. But I got a few nice returns: Henry Cavill (pre-signed The Witcher photo), Carrie Coon, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Xander Berkeley, Leo Suter, Charlie Vickers and Taylor Hickson.

BEST TV OF 2022

• The Rings of Power, sorry for all the haters out there. No it wasn’t even close to the master of piece of The Lord of The Rings. But I really loved the show and for sure much better then The Hobbit. • Vikings: Valhalla, I’m kinda obsessed with this show. I love the cast, the music, the story.. just everything about it. • The Handmaids Tale Season 5, I love every season of the show. It just always amazed me. The acting, the story. • 1899, Kinda sad it got cancelled. It had me intrigued for sure. Bummer that I will never know the end of it. • The Sandman, love this weird, dark fantasy show. Very happy it’s renewed.
