Manfred Von Karma did not burn Phoenix's letters to Miles.

Like, I'm not even saying this to defend Manfred's character (though the fanbase does get a little crazy with what he actually did and didn't do) I'm saying this because that's not canon. I'm not sure it was even possible in canon.

Phoenix didn't write letters to Germany. He didn't know Miles was in Germany, let alone Von Karma's address. He didn't even know who Von Karma was until Edgeworth told him about Manfred in Turnabout Goodbyes.

In the game canon, Miles just stopped showing up to school one day. All Phoenix seemed to know was that he transferred schools suddenly. He didn't know why or where to. Remember, Phoenix didn't even hear about DL-6 until Turnabout Sisters when Maya mentioned her family's involvement.

Even in the anime canon (I haven't watched the anime in a while so I might be off about this) where Phoenix and Miles get a chance to properly say goodbye, Phoenix still doesn't have a direct means of contacting him. His best way of doing so was dedicating a song through the radio using Signal Samurai codenames and hoping Miles would hear it.

Phoenix mentions trying to contact him several times when explaining their relationship to Maya, but this was after finding out Miles was this "Demon Attorney". Miles would have to be at least 20 at this point in time, living back in California with at least a few trials under his belt. With how young he reached success, it's not impossible Miles was living on his own at the time. Even if he wasn't, I doubt Manfred was going through this grown adult's mail.

No, what the game seems to be implying is that Miles ignored Phoenix. (Maya even says, "I guess he didn't want to hear from his old friends.") And I don't think this was out of hatred or anything, I think Miles just wanted to forget his past entirely because even the good memories of his childhood would be bittersweet at best.

And to be honest that makes it even more tragic to me. Why do we need Manfred to intercept their connection when Miles' trauma and guilt complex is already doing that?

I like to think Miles knew Phoenix would be asking questions if he ever responded to those initial attempts at contact. Questions he of course doesn't want to answer because they'd at best open old wounds or at worst risk his childhood friend finding out he might have committed patricide.

I also like to think he knew Phoenix of all people would stubbornly try to find the answers Miles wouldn't willingly give because he literally mentions Phoenix always being "single minded in his work" and "always seeing things through to the end". If anyone was going to press and bring those uncomfortable and painful memories out in the open for the sake of "helping him", it would be Phoenix Wright.

Why do we need Manfred to take away all that complexity and tragedy? That is such a waste!

I have SLSM concepts!!! Things I considered for the story but ultimately ended up not using :]

First is Y/N being cursed to become a monster when they have super negative emotions, so they literally HAVE to be stoic so they don’t go monster mode! It was gonna be kinda like a beauty and the beast concept except Y/N was the beast and the boys were the beauties 💕

Eventually the boys would find out about it, (one of them got hurt or were in danger, like after the party incident.) and Y/N would run away and hide from them. The last thing they want is for the boys to be scared of them. They’d find Y/N, and the boys would tell Y/N they’d accept them no matter what form they took. 💜

Might still make it into a one shot I’m not sure tho.

Next is how Y/N and Eclipse met and how Y/N would be more of a mercenary type. Y/N would be hired to take down an encampment of Eclipses by the kingdom Eclipse is at war with. Eclipse would happen to be at this encampment at the time (something the kingdom had planned,) and they would hope for Y/N to kill Eclipse. Y/N takes out the encampment single handedly, and Eclipse would attempt to flee on horseback (ROBOT HORSE BECAUSE ITS COOL OK)

Y/N would corner him and Eclipse out of desperation would offer Y/N a position as one of his knights. Y/N, having no loyalty to the kingdom who hired them, (and technically having completed the job they’d been hired for) agrees much to the surprised relief of Eclipse. Sun and Moon would obviously be more hostile towards Y/N at first, so Y/N and Eclipse would be the first to get close to each other. Sun and Moon would warm up to them eventually because of this.

This is just a design idea for Y/Ns future appearance at a masquerade party that Eclipse insists they simply MUST go to because they’d be able to cover their face. “It’s perfect!”, he reasons, and Y/N while apprehensive to the idea does agree that it’d be the only time they could go to a party.

This ends up being a horrible decision, as Eclipse insists yet again that they not bring their sword. Y/N feels naked without it, and it had always been sort of a grounding mechanism when they started to get nervous. They’d rest their hand on the pommel and almost instantly feel more at ease knowing they had their weapon with them. Y/N ends up bringing a dagger with them, cleverly hidden in their boot. It doesn’t make them feel as secure as their (very sentimental) sword, but it does ease their worry at least a little.

The masquerade will end up being where a big conflict happens, and Y/N will end up missing their sword for more than just comforting nerves.

Not much to this one, just a modern version of Y/N as a motorcyclist. I’ve always LOVED the way motor cycle helmets look (and also really want a motorcycle myself) so when coming up with a modern helmet design it was the obvious choice for me. Also bikers having wings on their back was a PERFECT reference to Midravens, and I imagine this Y/N has a pet Raven. Haven’t thought much about Sun, Moon, and Eclipse though so I’ll probably re-visit this AU of my AU.

For this one I was originally just going to make the drawing with wings to show the concept I had for Y/N… ya know, having wings, but I liked it so much that I made a second one where it’s just normal Y/N. Why’re they on a stage with a spotlight? I genuinely don’t have an answer for that lol I just thought the idea of having Y/N under a spotlight was cool, and where do you usually find spotlights? On a stage, of course! So yeah, that’s where that came from.

But yeah, Y/N was originally going to have a secret pair of wings that were hidden with magic. I was gonna have a hint to it with Y/N having a “tattoo” of wings on their back but it was really just gonna be the wings that they couldn’t fully get rid of, and so with magic they’d have to get creative since as a rule in this world if you wanted to use magic to hide something, you couldn’t just poof it out of existence or make it invisible, you’d have to get creative to hide whatever object you needed too. It’s a little convoluted I guess, but that was the idea I had for it. Magic with consequences/needing to get creative with it instead of just… making stuff happen lol.

I’ll still use that concept in the main AU, but it’ll take more of a backseat for now.

Anyway that’s all I have for now!!! I hope y’all are cool with my yapping about kinda behind the scenes stuff lol I’ve been having great time with it so I hope y’all are as well :)

He'd say it's because he wanted to make sure his aim was perfect but... He knew his aim was perfect. The sight was locked on. The only reason he fired at all was because his finger pulled the trigger by instinct when the bell got weirdified.

Five whole seconds of hesitation while the sight was locked on the entire time and Bill was staying perfectly still for the shot.

I was doing some planning for a little Wrightworth comic I want to draw, and it came around to me thinking about Edgeworth’s glasses; the ones he has in his Chief Prosecutor design. What’s his prescription?

He has them on in all his sprites when you’re talking to him out of court-

-but takes them off when he’s in court.

I’m not sure what form of visual impairment he’d have that would require him to have glasses on while out and about, but removed when in the courtroom. My guess regarding this is that Edgeworth doesn’t really like to show “weakness”, especially in a professional setting. Needing glasses isn’t really a weakness, but I could see him not necessarily wanting to show that his vision has deteriorated.

So my next thought was, “maybe he’s farsighted and doesn’t really need them in court since everyone else is a ways away from him”

But then this sprite exists where he’s reading up close with his glasses off. So either his condition is mild enough that he can still make out words, even if they’re a little blurry, or Detective Gumshoe is printing out all his reports with the font sized up for him.

Personally, I’m nearsighted and would love to claim him as such as well, but with how much he enjoys going up against Phoenix in court, I think he’d like to see his struggling opponent clearly. (“wright only makes that ridiculous face when his back is pressed against the wall” etcetera, etcetera)

So my guess is that he’s farsighted, but not to the point where things up close to him are entirely illegible.

Anyway that’s me thinking far too much about a fictional attorney’s glasses. If any of you have your own hcs about that, I’d love to hear them. I don’t know a whole lot about vision impairments besides my own, so if someone else has a different experience or more knowledge that would provide a better explanation, I’m totally open to having my mind changed.

All Phoenix Wright (character) fans

i have to get you guys’s opinion on this because i feel like i’m going insane

i had a discussion a while back(if you are the person i discussed this with HI!!! I HAD A LOT OF FUN YAPPING!!!) about phoenix wright and i need to know everyone’s opinion on this.

Okay so a core part of phoenix’s character that i always have in the back of my mind is that he’s a guy who understands what its like to live in the lower class, which is part of the reason he wants to defend people who have no one on their side.

I cant remember where but during an interview Shu Takumi pointed out that he wanted phoenix to be poor like it was non-negotiable, ergo i interpreted that as sort of a key part of his character, as more often than not he is facing off against people who are higher class than him, aka: every prosecutor and like, 1 defense attorney (Kristoph)

I always thought that him being lower class was like an intentional part, As Takumi stated, to show how phoenix represents the working class and how he needs to work harder than most to get by, but others disagree and i was shocked by that so i gotta know

I feel like that since Tails was raised by Sonic, he'd downplay his own trauma out of instinct. So much that it concerns everyone but Sonic, who doesn't notice that well since it's the same attitude and wordplay he uses. Ex: "People used to try to cut off my tails all the time, just made me fast enough to keep up with Sonic haha!" Like no baby that's badddd.

i’ve always seen tails as someone who just doesn’t even want to think about his past. he doesn’t want to talk about it, he doesn’t want to acknowledge it. it’s behind him and he has a brand new life now. a better life

i think he’d only downplay it to a) get people to worry about him less and b) to get out of talking about it.

to me, that’s partially why he drowns himself in project after project. he does love tinkering, but it also keeps his mind busy (especially after the war when he’s had six whole months to do nothing but think)

idk tho that’s just me. i think maybe he made nonchalant comments when he was younger (ex: “i learned to swim when i was pushed into a river”) but as he gets older, it starts to weigh on him more and more so he’d just rather think about anything else

You think he saw that shift in Miles after Aaron's death, that heavy look in his son's eyes, the same way his brother had? A bit wary, a bit too anxious - you think he gets scared that Miles' eyes will soon turn cold like Aaron's? You think he saw Miles' eyes in Aaron's when he found him in the dark alleyway, you think when he held his cold body he saw the little boy he grew up with?

You think Aaron in Earth 42 sees Jefferson in Miles G? He sees that overtly serious young man his brother was in the way Miles has his back too straight, his smart mouth and sass resulting in funny comebacks and witty comments just like his brother used to do. You think he sees that same raw urge to help that Jeff had in his nephew's eyes? The sorta urge to help that'll get you killed? You think he sees Jefferson's mural and thinks about how Miles has the same forehead, the same eyes? Do you think he worries about the spark in Miles' eyes blowing out like Jeff's did? You think he sees Jeff as a lil boy again every time Miles comes back from a successful mission as the Prowler - so bright, like he's reaching too close to the sun?

You think Jeff thinks about his son and wants to tell Aaron, "He's so much like you. I don't want that." You think Aaron wants to tell Jeff the same about his nephew? You think deep down they want that more than anything? You think they see the other when they look in the mirror, when they look at Miles? You think they're hoping that Miles could be better than either of them, that he'll be just fine?
