I still cannot stop thinking about Alex saying"Miles" when pointing at Mirrorball during London Night 3... and then when he sings, "Oh, there'd better be a mirrorball for me..." and you think: Wait a minute... Maybe he means Mirrorball for Mi... And then you think, across the years, there is only one more song that used to have a mirrorball... and it is "I wanna be yours."... and that he sang it during London night 2 - the night before Miles joined them on stage and pointed at mirror ball at the end of it... The same way he did the next day, saying Miles... And him signing, "I wanna be your setting lotion", and then you think about Miles singing "Like the leopard print lotion you left in my hair" in Can You See Me Now... And you think of Arabella's cheetah print coat... And then you freaking google cheetah vs leopard, and my friends, you will never fucking tell the difference between the 2... And then you then think about the Star Treatment version of I Wanna Be Yours that first popped up during Glasto... And in the Star Treatment, he sings "Miles away" and is having a heated conversation with someone... And then you think - he is also arguing with someone in "There'd Better Be a Mirrorball"... and then you think that throughout the whole The Car tour, he sings Mirrorball followed by 505... And then you think about Star treatment "no place for dolls like you and me", love from the bottle with a twist-off cap (lube?, poppers?) and doing hot-lap (rim job) and listening to "Long Hot Summer" like they did during EYCTE recordings... And then you think back to 2018, the AM promotion video from Mexico that got interrupted by a bloody turtle clip followed by a few seconds of Batphone, and don't even get me started on all those references... I guess what I'm saying is that my Milex heart is insane, but it makes sense in my head...

im in neither camp regarding the Brown Jacket issue really but ive got questions: let's say they are two separate celine jackets. mk and at could've either bought them on their own or be given from the brand as a part of fashion show pr or something. now they both are long time celine patrons as well as good friends of hedi slimane so either scenario is possible. but i feel alex must've bought his one- it fits him well, he uses the hell out of it and he isn't really public or involved with the brand enough in recent years (appearing at shows/events/campaigns etc) to justify him being sent the thing. miles, on the other hand, is involved in some capacity. he has been a regular fixture at celine shows, wore a lot of celine and ysl for shoots and covers and personal style etc etc so there's a chance he got his sent to him, rather than buy it for himself, which might explain the size issue. but also if a brand is sending an article of clothing to one of its patrons why will it not be fitting impeccably? but also it's hedi slimane's celine- the clothes are infamously very specifically catering to skinny lithe body types. so it could be a sample sized jacket or something, however im not knowledgeable abt the fashion industry to make any solid claims regarding that.

but the bottom line remains: there's a high chance that alex and miles own the exact same brown leather jacket. and they still wear it regularly, even though their styles have evolved in vastly different directions in recent years. and they also chose to wear that EXACT SAME JACKET on their concert date last night. intentionally or not, it's just as crazy as the other alternative.

My controversial Milex theory

So, common lore is that Miles has always been this free and easy, liberated rocker, and Alex was the repressed, closeted one, holding Miles back from coming out. But recent events have made me think differently. There was the Miles at church thing, the realisation from Knee Socks that that is possibly about Miles and his religious guilt (the ghost in your room etc), and now the Suki Waterhouse thing. He has deliberately posted her song, congratulating her on her hit. It is an unusual move for him, but there won’t be any speculation about them because she is settled with Robert Pattison and they have recently had a baby. It is like Miles is making an effort to show there is no bad blood between them.

Why? Well I am thinking that maybe he is gearing up to come out, and seeing as Suki was his biggest publicised romance and she was supposed to have left him for Bradley Cooper (who it is rumoured also gay/bi) then Miles is now saying between the lines that it is no big deal what happened between them.

Alex always gets the bad rap because he is the one who has had long term girlfriends, but I think we have to look closer at Miles. He too has been in situations where he was sticking his tongue down the throat of a Page Three Girl or some model, and his lyrics in the early days were full of ‘she’ and ‘girl’ much more than FWN or Humbug. Even his videos always had females in them, just as much as AM’s videos (and let’s not forget, Alex has never fully interacted with a woman in an MV).

Personally, I think from 2008 – 2015 Miles and Alex had a casual thing going, but listening to Alex’s lyrics from this period, I would say that he realised early on that he was in love with Miles, and it was an open secret. See any clip of the Monkeys being interviewed around this time and the other boys pull faces when he talks about Miles. Whereas I think Miles was still convincing himself he could ‘go straight’ if he wanted to. I say this because in between DWYA and CDG we have EYCTE, and twice Alex has made reference to them ‘falling in love’ during this time, and by the end of the tour, Miles looks as lovesick and smitten with Alex as Alex has with him since 2008. Miles could no longer fight his feelings and had to come to terms with his sexuality, but by then he had mucked Alex around too much, and Alex had to go back to being CEO of Arctic Monkeys, so Alex wouldn’t commit to him. Hence you get CDG (but you also get the Ultracheese). This led to their breakdown around 2017 -2018. But instead of what everyone thinks, that La Cigale was the beginning of the end, I think it was the opposite.

By NYE 2018/2019 they are in their local in Bethnal Green, celebrating (Louise is there but Alex is trying to ignore her) and by Change the Show, Miles’ lyrics are no longer gender specific (apart from Caroline) and he sounds more annoyed at Alex rather than full of angst and hurt like CDG.

Then we get to OMB/The Car.  OMB is full of songs where Miles is reflecting upon his own behaviour, and on The Car we have Jet Skis and Hello You that hint at their reconciliation.

So in summary, I think Alex’s closet is very public but in their inner circle everyone knew the truth, but Miles’ struggles were far more internal and it took for him to realise he was in love with Alex for him to come to terms with who he really was and he had to become comfortable with that before they had any future.

well i guess today is the day

firstly Interstellar, dressed in leather, drinking bitter boy is so obviously referring to Alex and there is no denying it (thank you to @uhbasicallyjustmilex for bringing this to my attention!) which is why I think, despite the next part being a bit of a stretch, that there is a possibility!

but my theory is that You're my top 100 shows is possibly an inside joke between Miles and Alex (I physically cannot provide context or proof but I just have a feeling about it) especially since the title is literally: Killing the joke.

Since we all know that something went down during 2018 when they were both distant and both released albums with very much "break up" undertones (Coup De Grace + Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino) listening to the two albums side by side has me feeling like they are communicating with each other through some lyrics

For example: (i'm aware that i'm reaching very far with this one)

Wrong Side of Life - Oh how I feel, I feel you don't love me no more

The Ultracheese - But I haven't stopped loving you once

With Killing the Joke, the chorus is Miles reflecting on what they used to have and unable to stop himself from desperately trying to get it back but ultimately feeling defeated as he follows the line with Why do I always have to go killing the joke.

Despite this absolutely ripping my heart to pieces, I do think that in the end things managed to get patched up between them as among the heart-wrenching lyrics, glimpses of longing for one another are definitely present throughout many songs and as the last lines on each ending tracks are very hopeful and indicates that they still have undeniable feelings for each other.

this whole theory is probably a sign that i need to go outside and stop spending all my time analysing milex coded lyrics but i would like to hear if anyone understands where i'm coming from/has anything to add!

WHEN are we going to discuss the insane lyrics in title track eycte. “hotel room holy bible, hotel room free love revival” im ?????? “free love” and “holy bible” being paired together sparks an image of love against the bible. and free love is all about love/sex not conforming to typical views of marriage, adultery, etc. and adultery (hi taylor) is against the bible. it’s not thaaaaat much of a stretch to assume that it might refer to other “free love against the bible” terms such as. homosexuality. sodomy. sorry

and. of course. paris. which, you know. france is pretty important to their relationship. off topic but don’t get me STARTED on shavambacu and france.

Thoughts after reading this post... I always think about it "ridden the riddle" as having sex with someone who is a riddle... And we can all agree that Alex is that... Reckon they had their first sex in Wirral (Liverpool) while Alex was inspecting Pauline's biscuit selection?

And they both text each other to find time to "do it again"? With the above explanation, the next line, "riding something beautiful" has a new meaning... And Miles pointing to Alex making it even more obscene... Out little lustful puppets... Which brings me to the next point.... wait for it... Little - to have a little of smth or maybe being "LAST" Illusion - not real, mirrage, phanom, smth hidden, maybe in "SHADOW"? Machine - smth not real... potentially controlled by someone or something else, say "PUPPET"
