The World is Crazy!

I could never imagine that Ukraine and Russia would go to war during my lifetime. Following the American news stories is sickening because no one wants to help or take action. Especially since so many people do not understand how it came to this.

While reading the New York Times tonight, it is obvious there are signs of trouble and that this will have negative impacts on all European Countries and the United States. The most recent update state that Russian forces are moving south, threatening to take a port from Ukraine and continuing to take possession of Kyiv. As a Millennial US Citizen, this is scary for our generation because we would have never thought World War 3 would occur during our lifetime. People are all over Tiktok talking about how Russia wants to talk to Ukrainian leaders due to failure to take Kyiv right off the bat. In my own Western/ US perspective, it is unfair that Ukraine was not allowed to join NATO when they wished to be part of the alliance. The country is under attack, and since they do not have NATO protection, Russia will not back off and go home.  

As a person with mixed Northern European Ancestry, it is saddening to see so much violence and destruction occurring. Threats need to be taken more seriously by the United States government, UN Security Council, and NATO to ensure this war does not progress further. So many innocent lives have been lost due to Narcistic beliefs from Putin and due to the USSR being gone. The war and tensions are still early now, and since Russia made threats towards NATO and other European Countries, it is hard to not  be uneasy about nuclear weapons. I would have never thought that this would happen during a pandemic and what is hard to watch is that no one is coming to help Ukraine overcome these unprovoked attacks on their country.

 All the media sources from the US claim that Ukrainian forces are not as well trained as Russian soldiers when they have held out so far. If there had been substantial assistance for the Ukrainian troops, maybe this would not have progressed. Something has to be done to prevent more harsh measures and tactics to ensure the safety of all countries in the world. This is just a blog space to share my opinions on current day situations about world news. I am open to discussions and hope to gain a following to see various perspectives and learn new information. In my analysis, the sanctions are not enough to protect the people, and something has to be done to stop the war. Blocking aircraft and freezing the money will not prevent the bombs or missiles from being used on innocent civilians.

If anyone has any good newsworthy sources or information to share please do in the comments. I went to college for journalism, and I want to see various types of news stories. I wish to learn more about what is currently happening to ensure the safety of all people.
