I recently redesigned how Mimi looks in my artstyle! 🎨

While the style I drew her in previously was perfectly fine, I found myself wishing her design was more flexible and easier to pose. So, I gave her a new hairstyle and design, and now I’m having more fun drawing her! \o/

How she looks in color is on the left, and a bonus drawing on the right of her next to Nastasia! She is now taller than Nastasia with this redesign!

mimistasia (mimi x nastasia) is Everything to me, just they are opposites attract for sure!! but also I’ve been thinking about how underneath the surface they have more in common than they think, how they both have “true forms” (True Mimi, and nastasia’s bat form), how they both have their own issues with identity, and it’s just like,, they’re just so good!! ;_;

i think the problem with a lot of fictional romance is that, despite all build-up that may have happened, once the two finally get together... they begin to lose that edge of what made their dynamic interesting. it's disappointing enough when it happens within the game/movie/show, but then irritating when 'fans' choose to flatten them to fit into the same rehashed tropes they feel any 'couple' should involve themselves in...

...which is so disheartening to see when there are definitely interesting scenarios uniquely built from these characters' situation! things so specific to them that it'd be a struggle to find a similar scenario/dynamic/dialogue beats between any other character you may be a fan of, even if they fall into a similar narrative archetype. there are such small things indicative of the characters themselves they should be given the chance to explore together. even if they're still reserved and thus reluctant to admit as much aloud, there would inevitably be a shift when someone else takes to their side. whether it's introspection or within action or whatever else, there's still so much more to explore within its setting/further character study.

but, unfortunately for many, the end goal of 'being together' indicates they are no longer characters in their own right, but instead "a couple" - and that is all they remain as, unfortunately... as though that's where their relationship ends, instead of further building upon their established bond.

i feel it's a part of the reason i've noticed so many people attach themselves to 'slow burn' or 'childhood friend' sort of stories. what makes it interesting is the fact there is so much range to explore these characters and what this budding new relationship may mean to them, in many of these it may be the focus of the story, but... ironically enough, it also leads to many people jumping to imagined scenarios of the two finally getting together to do 'couple things' together. due to their adoration for the original scenarios the characters are put through to show/strain their love, they want to write for these charming characters, but just. either seem to miss what makes them so compelling, or haven't the confidence to write such scenarios, or simply find it more enjoyable to place intense focus on the domesticity alone once they allegedly, inevitably, get together (even at the cost of characterization... i feel there's a fine line between someone mellowing out and to completely rid their fangs, yes?) and it's just a little dreary to see these characters so flattened once people feel there's nothing else to be done once the relationship is 'official'!

Also speaking of the ask, very cool one! I personally do not ship them togheter for i uh. Have another option for Nassy here ❤️❤️❤️ but still in this blog no ship will be heavily included if not briefly mentioned or implied (like in this case) cuz i wanna keep things as canon as possible while at the same time making them unique so like. While they can be implied I wont really actually focus on them heavily like i would with any ship i actually ship (for example I ship MimiStasia but I wont ever heavily focus on it unless an ask is abt it or smth but then again i wont make it look like theyre actually paired up, at best ill imply it so that it leaves room for both canon-ess and uniqueness idk if that makes sense)

Anyways sorry for the long ass rant HA im back just know this (i will probably dissapear again because school is almost starting but I will appear on occasions dw 🔥🔥 and if too much times passes i will also give an update like i did the other day I TALK TOO MUCH i need to shut up BYEE)

ngl not a lot of these boxes really fit for my opinions on them? but to sum it up they’re main ship for each of them as characters.

they’re super sweet, i like to imagine post-game healing between the two, especially knowing how messed up nastasia is mentally. i just see it as a cozy sapphic ship with me hcing mimi as a lesbian and hcing nastasia as bisexual, that kind of pairing you know.

i like to imagine it as a slow burn friends to best friends to lovers kind of deal. a LOT of pining. i’d like to imagine mimi fell for nassy first as a little puppy love kind of crush and it just developed to this full on love between the two of them. they do a lot of girls hangouts and shit that weirdly border on dates and at some point the two get very close and admit their feelings to each other.

mimi is a lot more extroverted and shows off her gf every chance she gets and nastasia, while more shy about it, is completely devoted to her gf. when nastasia falls, she falls HARD.

i might reblog this later adding more to my hcs for them, but yeah! feel free to talk to me about them whenever! i love brainstorming most spm ships :>
