whew this is a big lookbook! i’ve been working on daphne’s wardrobe for almost nine months now 🤯 mind blind is really special to me for many reasons, but a huge one is how it exemplifies just how much little choices can build character development. all it took was that chapter 1 option to have the mc sleep on bamboo sheets because she “likes a little luxury” and daphne walked into my head fully formed! the game has so much heart and humor, the personality choices are so unique and thoughtful, i could go on and on but 10/10 recommend, more on daphne below.

i had originally had little notes written by daphne on her outfits, but i scrapped them because it looked too cluttered. however they were cute and important to her character so i’m just gonna write them here!

everyday: can you believe grayson still won’t take a hint despite the baby tees daphne wears?! she lives to make him blush. also those vintage von dutch jeans are her prized possession

formal: spot the dress she wears to reese’s dinner party! the rest are for blending in at nick’s unity events-- enough to avoid the press while still catching the eye of an attractive stranger.

athletic: daphne puts on these outfits to walk on the treadmill for twenty minutes then take selfies

sleep: nick and sally constantly roast daphne for her obsession with cute pjs. nick complains that the money she spends on nice pajama sets is a major drain on resources

party: daphne’s favorite clothes to wear to the underground music venues she attends every weekend. music, especially live music, is her best coping strategy. the attractive company also helps keep her mind off grayson.

swim: daphne had big ideas for a post-graduation trip with sally to turks and caicos. though the vacation fell through, she kept the outfits. 

hot weather: some remnants of her coconut girl phase, and rarely weather appropriate. 

cold weather: no these are not all warm enough for chicago winters, but fashion is pain. also daphne rarely leaves the house without her headphones on

OMG POOK! 🖤 spencer is between 5’5–5’6 but usually wears chanel boots that make her 5’7

my other mind blind oc is winnie (winifred) and she’s an adorable 5’3 loser. she’s like the crying cat meme whereas spencer is the knife cat meme. one loves the thrill of danger and the other is not having a good time. (old doodle 👇)

"Are you single?"

Gray isn't sure how he agreed to take this interview for Nick---actually, he is sure, it was because he was asked and then offered cookies---but he is beginning to regret it. Channel 8 is notorious for prying.

"Yes," he answers honestly. "I suppose I haven't found the right person yet."

"Lucky that we can help with that," says Channel 8 with a wink to the camera. "What would you say is your type?"

"I don't know that I have a type," he says amicably, still smiling for the camera. "Or that I'm looking, really, considering my work---"

"Our viewers would love to know," sing-songs Channel 8.

Does he have a type? If he thinks about what he wants in a romantic partner, it is surprisingly clear. Somebody kind, with a good sense of humor. Somebody resilient. Somebody he knows fairly well by now, he realizes, his stomach twisting into knots at the thought.

"Hey Fortitude!" shouts a voice from the other side of the park. “Fortitude!”

Daphne Wiseman jogs over with a bright smile, pausing a few feet behind him. And he has to stifle a laugh when he sees the T-shirt she is wearing---the Channel 14 weatherman is front and center, together with a speech bubble coming out of his mouth: “You won’t get that on Channel 8.” 

Any footage from the moment she stepped into frame is unusable.

Channel 8 sighs and looks at the sky where the sun is dipping behind trees. Not enough time to reshoot. "I guess it's time to pack it up," she says to her crew. "But if you want to answer any questions off-the-record, Fortitude...?" She slips him her card before he can react.

"Oh no, did I ruin the take?" calls Daphne as they load into the news van. She waves.  "Oh, that's a shame, Marsha. Better luck next time."

Gray shakes his head. He’s conflicted---happy to see her, feeling a little guilty for the abrupt ending to the interview, and feeling a little guilty for feeling so happy to see her. "Marsha? Do you know her?"

"She dated Nick," she answers, shuddering. "Now she’s hunting for new agents, and I didn’t want you to... She’s a nightmare. Don’t call her.”

Is that jealousy he detects in her voice? Probably wishful thinking on his part. She had a crush on him years ago, but she’s grown up considerably since then. 

“I can't believe he tricked you into this. You're lucky I came to rescue you."

"It wasn't a trick,” he protests. “I...was promised cookies.”

"Which I brought,” she says. “You can watch me eat them, if you want."

He laughs. "Oh, really?"

She grins, holds one up. "All right, ready?"

She tosses it towards him, and when it's in range, he catches it mid-air with his telekinesis, directs it into his mouth. Delicious. "Thanks, Daphne," he says through a mouthful.

"Anything for you," she says with a smile. Then flushes. "I mean, Nick made the cookies. I just threw one at you. You might call it assault and batter-y. Haha. Get it?"

He chuckles. She's Nick Wiseman's sister, all right. 

Which is why---among many, many reasons---she is off-limits.

Still. "Do you need a ride home?"

"Yes! I mean, if you want to."

"I do,” he answers. “I mean, I can. I mean, I'm driving anyway, and it'll be dark soon, and I don't want anything to happen to you."

"Or the cookies,” she quips.

He smiles at her. "I'm taking the cookies regardless."

"I guess I can supervise the cookies in your car. Look, the sunset."

"Beautiful," he comments, but he looks up before she can realize that he's looking at her.

yes please bestie i need people to scream about rosy with!! his romance is soooo sick and twisted but also so deep and genuine i love it x

personality-wise, the best way to describe spencer is that one scene where rosy basically describes her (and the MIVs) as “manipulative, underhanded, and possessing flexibly utilitarian ethics,” and she’s like: “i prefer the description ‘astute, deliberate, and ethically nonjudgmental.’” she’s a greasy rich girl who loves luxury but doesn’t brush her deep fried platinum blonde hair. she’s suuuper innovative and very confident. she loves being an MIV and hates being pitied (which is why she falls so hard for rosy ofc)

All in all it makes sense that they sleep together before they sleep together.

Wait. Maybe it actually doesn't, considering Teddy is a world class insomniac and doesn't, in fact, sleep most nights. At least not the whole night. He often falls asleep in the wee hours of the mornings and sleeps for a moment or two and then he wakes up again and drinks so much coffee that the caffeine is making him bounce on the walls the whole day.

But anyway, sleeping together is easier than sleeping together. At least for Teddy. Not that he strictly speaking has any experience of sleeping with anyone. He's twenty-one years old and sex still feels like a foreign concept to him, something that makes him giggle and blush just at the thought of having it. Sally thinks it's adorable and funny, Gray doesn't think anything about it, because Teddy hasn't actually told him that the idea of sleeping together makes him want to skyrocket into another fucking planet.

It's not that he doesn't want to have sex with Gray, he does and is feeling very enthusiastic about it, it's just that it would be… bad, maybe?

How do you explain to someone you love that you want them carnally, but you've never had sex before and you barely even masturbate because it makes you feel awkward and weird and you also don’t feel sexual desire that much to begin with, so it might only work for one time and that’s it for the rest of your lives?

The answer is simple: you don't.
