The Villager vs Illager Conflict

The biggest conflict there in Svallin currently is the Villager - Illager War which started about 2 years ago in the server. While the conflict happens everywhere since the dawn of Svallin, anyway, the hotspot currently sits at West Svallin, between the Illager army of Vuruethas (lead by Absinthe Vane,) and The Fortress City Midsommar, (lead by Queen Alexis Gjallarhorn.)

They aim to destroy the other for the sake of their people's (and their own) satisfaction and goals. If Vane wins, the illagers prevail. If Alexis wins, the villagers prevail.

So far, they are deadlocked, matched in both wits and resources.

So why beef with Midsommar?

Because of Alexis Gjallarhorn.

Alexis was an Alex-skinned player character who was spawned in initially during the absence of [spoiler man], and happened to save a village from pillagers during her travels. She was filled with a sense of justice and responsibility, and began building her own kingdom as a 'safe haven' for villagers pillaged by illagers.

And now, the safe haven's gotten too big! The Illagers, fearing of being wiped off by Alex's knights, decided to band up to try and fell Midsommar before they got 'too strong', and they have been at each other since.

More will be explained when I flesh out the kingdoms~

Are things only bad in Midsommar?

Not really. Besides Vane's army, there is another bigshot group that roams the lands, treated like a bad omen or the boogeyman.

This group of horseriders are called the Band of Claws. Unlike Vuruethas Amry, they usually ride on separate platoons and regroup once a while in the woods of Northern Svallin. They are infamous for making pillaging a sport and competition, and would even toy with villagers and children and hunt them on horseback 'for amusement.'

Its leader is Balalaika Zamrud. Many thinks she is much more cruel and cold compared to Vane, but she finds no fun in invasions. Hence, Vuruethas and Band of Claws don't really work together.

Zamrud does find interest in a certain village whose villagers know how to control fire...

Besides those two groups, Illagers still roam the land in different communities, but they always have one thing in mind: Pillaging and plundering. Thirsty for power and are aggressively territorial, the Illagers are becoming more brazen in the advent of high-ranking illagers who lead them to glory.

Depending on the biomes, illagers may form different kinds of pillaging groups such as: Desert Robbers, Pirates, or Snow Hunters.

They are as common as pillaging groups across Svallin, usually captained by lesser known illagers. They aren't as lethal, but they still cause losses alright.

Steve setting up remote trail cameras to track illager movements in the area. He had a dufflebag full of camping and recording equipment when he ended up in Overworld so he puts it to good use. Alex and him burst out laughing when they view the recordings.

The little one known as Archie crawled down a tree one of the cameras was on to stare into it upside down. His grandfather Matias showed up to sniff the camera too and poke it before making Archie leave the area

An Evoker training in the woods with her mother and both set the seats of their robes on fire and singe their eyebrows when a spell goes awry.

A wandering trader and his llamas beat up a young and inexperienced Vindicator and send the illager fleeing

A mature Evoker takes an elegant stroll through the woods and abruptly face plants after tripping on a root, and immediately gets up and tries to act like nothing happened

I describe my version of Steve as pathetic and unlucky, but pathetic in the way where you feel really bad for the guy. Rarely has a good day haha. Anyway yeah drew a lil comic thingy with him and how he meets my silly OC's 💪 (they're illagers and villagers and witches but I didn't draw any of the witches here)

The Villlager he traded with is named Amy Lint

We're going to start with Thord... As he was the most simple to make.

Although I'm doing showing you the backwards progress of what I've drawn... Here is the first drawing of the two I did...

I'm so super normal about this. The most normal guy ever. (<- lying) (<- is a huge languages/linguistics nerd and has been working on creating languages for Minecraft for years now) /lh /gen

Thinking about minecraft languages again I fear.

We know of at least two diagetic writing systems used in the world of minecraft— enchanting table language and some form of the Roman alphabet. We know that some form of the Roman alphabet is diagetic, because it exists in the world already before the Player arrives. Whoever built the desert temples assigned significance to the letters "TNT" enough to put it on their explosives. Pictographic writing also seems to exist, based on naturally-generating chiseled blocks, but that's harder to definitively state isn't purely decorative.

Villagers also presumably use some form of writing, given that they have librarians, but whatever that writing is, it doesn't seem to be legible to the Player, since we can't read books until we write in them ourselves.

The villager/illager species definitely creates symbolic art, given the use of banners by the illagers and of creeper face symbols on clerical robes. Piglins also use symbolic art, given the snouts carved into bastions, and it seems reasonable to conclude that they have some form of language.

This gives at least three languages in the world of minecraft— Piglin, Villager, and Desert Temple. Possibly a fourth, with Enchanting, but that could just be the writing system used by villagers, given that the Player doesn't seem to be able to read it.

What would those languages be like? What kinds of poetry are written in the Hnnngs and Hrrs of the villagers, or the grunts and snorts of the piglins? Could a piglin and a villager learn each other's languages, or are they too different not just in terms of vocabulary but in terms of the physical features required to communicate? Do piglins carry information in the flapping of their ears? Do villagers produce complex tones by resonance in their large noses?

And what about etymologies? For villagers, wool comes from sheep, but to a piglin, if wool exists at all, it's woven from strider hair. If the inhabitants of the desert temples had a word for gunpowder, was it related to their word for creeper? If piglins do, is it related to their word for ghast?

i have a headcanon about totems of undying

so like.. they aren't actually held in the hand, they attach to the hand in a manner that makes the offhand hard to use, which is why you can hold a totem of undying and use a two-handed item (like a bow) at the same time.

Like, your fingers still can move somewhat so you can draw the bow back, but you can't hold a block or weapon or anything like that.

They still work when simply held, but most find it more convenient to attach them when being held for extended amounts of time.
