BJDs made to look like real people are such a context-based thing for me. Like if someone makes a BJD based on, say Henry Cavill's likeness but styled him to look like Superman or Geralt, then I'm totally obsessed. If they style him to be Henry Cavill himself, and post as such, it's a turn-off. But I agree with this anon, I usually say "Ooh, nice... (reads description) oh, eww, okay..." then scroll on.

I myself own a few Minimee heads based on real actors but they're styled and shared as a character they portrayed in a movie or a show. I can't imagine owning a little version of a real person on my shelf, but for some people it's all the same thing, and that's fine, because life is too precious to try to change someone on the internet's opinion.

I am unsure if Tmblr will allow these to be visible to anyone, but me. Since plastic toys in humanoid shape are not to be seen without cloth pieces from head to toe. One of my posts with photos of a sealed in plastic baggie, Azone Pure Neemo shapless boy body was fl6gged once. Then some of my Mano's posts were also fl6gged. Yet, there are some questionable stuff that gets suggested to me, not only fan-fic but also actual people...as well as accounts with female avatars that make me question humanity when I already have zero faith in it...

As a fangirl of Sephiroth since I was in my early teens (after playing OG FFVII), I always wanted a perfect figure or doll based on him. There are some awesome figures based on him, and I own quite a few, if not all of them (except for any resin statues, as I don't/didn't collect those until BJD back in the dark ages). When I saw Fairyland Chic Line Rou, I knew I would need him to bring my very own custom Sephy doll to life. He doesn't look anywhere near like him, in any of the many versions there are now of Sephiroth. However, I just knew proportionately and body build-wise, there would never be anything closer (to me, and knowning the body is not perfectly proportioned either, as Sephy is meant to be). So, I purchased Rou, fully wanting to create a custom Sephy. I lost interst in BJD, for about ten plus years. Now I repainted my Rou, and lost some of his clothes... I lost his pants, apparently. I could find both Sephy-esque coats I made for him, but none of the other stuff. Weird?

I own a GameToys Sephiroth, that I have repainted a few times already. So, I feel I got the closest I'll get to having a perfect Sephiroth figure, without ever getting a (OG) Crisis Core, version that would be my ideal version of him. Having said that, I don't mind owning a million different version of him. I still want my Rou to be my Dissidia version of him and still plan on customizing further my CC version DIM Minimee head sculpt, that I also purchased, before I knew I would eventually own the GT Sephy, in the far away future (meaning now).

I am super happy with him, despite my cameras having problems photographing anything, because I suck at life, setting lights, taking photos, painting miniatures.... ect. I didn't do a good job with his top lashes (or bottom ones, but that's the story of my life!). I'll attempt fixing the top ones later. When it's not hot like the pits of h3ll, here. DX The last three were taken with my crappier but newer phone. (:

Minimee/bjds sculpted and styled to look like real people squicks me out. Even ones that are not originally sculpted that way but owners do custom faceups on to look like a celebrity or a Kpop idol. But you don't see me arguing for cancellation of people over these or screaming anywhere it's weird or it's morally wrong because that's a real person you're making a doll of, or that it's fetishization. I just scroll past these in my IG feed (I am only in IG, and here), or unfollow/block some of the content creators that have dolls that are mostly those. We all have preferences - these are all just preferences, at the end of the day. It's not a big deal. Stop making a big deal out of other collectors' collections and curate your own feed.

I can't remember if I've ever posted my Leon S. Kennedy MNM on here, but I do recall him being posted here by other people w/out my permission... someone posted my photos of him, w/out me knowing >_>;;

Anyway, I was looking for photos of him wearing his one and only pair of Eyeco eyes I got for him years ago, so I thought why not post him everywhere! Lol! Jk. I haven't taken photos of him in years (since Jan, 2016), but I'll be modifying him soon. I want to take photos of him before I do, but I fear that if I do, I'll be tempted not o modify him again (like every time I have the same intention, and then I don't do it!). I've modified a lot of my dolls over the years, but I've only modified him once, and just a tiny little bit (just shaved less than 1mm from his eye openings).

I'm not 100% happy with how he looks, because he's not as accurate to RE4 Leon. However, at the same time I like how he looks so it's a bit ambiguous thinking about modifying for accuracy. That's the reason why I got him in the first place, but I can't replace this head if I ruin him. DX

I haven't ruined my other mods so far (atleasinmyhumbleopinionithinkihaven't). That doesn't mean I won't do it this time though... and that scares me a bit. The first photo is of my first tries at skin-texturing on a real 3D sculpt, as opposed to a 3D mesh, that was around 2009 and the second photo is from 2016 (he has the same exact face up, but I added texture using acrylic medium and gave him different eyes), when I was last tempted to modify him but I didn't.
