This 1970s graphic covers one side of a large mailing envelope and was found in the Hennepin County Library Communications Records. This collection contains brochures, booklists, flyers, reports, posters, strategic plans, event and program calendars and other publicity documents from the library's Communications Department, from 1952-2022. The purpose of the envelope is unknown, as is the designer "SJ."

Edit 12/27/23: Thanks to an HCL retiree (and newsletter reader), SJ has been identified as Sheila Jorgenson, who worked on and off for both Minneapolis Public and Hennepin County Libraries in the publicity departments and as a librarian from the 1960s through 1990s.

small town, weekend nature hikes, homely fall seasons, starry nights, camping trips, boats lazing down the river, locally made wine, cozy close knitted community, drive ins, milkshakes, hockey over frozen lakes, home grown family businesses, observatories, adventures into the forests, playing in the snow, stargazing all night, waiting for dad to make it back home.

Taylors Falls. MN. Taylors Falls is a little river town of less than 1,000 residents along the St. Croix River in Minnesota, not too far from the city but still quiet, and quaint. Ashton was born and raised here until he joined the military, he enjoyed and really come to appreciate the nature he was surrounded with, enchanted by the untainted night sky, clean cold air, and comforting warmth of family and community. Something he once took for granted, now living in a concrete jungle but he hopes one day to return home.

Minnesota has a large ethnically Scandinavian population, so whenever summer occurs you start seeing elf doors appear on a some of the trees.

The elf live behind a small elf door that you place in your home. They lose their magical powers when they are seen by humans. That's why they spend most of their time behind the elf door and only come out at night to carry out their pranks, help in the gnome workshop or get up to other mischief.

S’quite charming. Strangely enough or not, I’ve not seen one appear in a neighborhood where people aren’t happy with one another.

Tim Walz is Minnesota’s 41st Governor. He was first elected Governor in 2018 and won re-election in 2022. Accomplishments from his time as Governor include providing universal free school meals for students, protecting reproductive freedom, strengthening voting rights, laying the groundwork to get Minnesota to 100% clean electricity by 2040, cutting taxes for the middle class, and expanding paid leave for Minnesota workers. Throughout his time as Governor, Tim has prioritized making Minnesota the best state in the country to raise a family.
