2. Kamala Khan (she is the reason I stuck with comics in the 2010s when it was pretty dire for 616!Tony. What a fantastic character she is, or was, because while things are looking up for Tony all around, Kamala‘s X-Men-ification was the worst thing that could’ve happened to her and I HATE what they‘re doing with her rn)

What would you say the show showed Lenny’s love language as? Quality Time?

Actually, I'd say it's acts of service and/or words of affirmation.

Even before he's a "love interest," while he's still primarily a friend and mentor to Midge, Lenny lets his generosity do the talking. He bails Midge out in return for her bailing him out, but then he goes further: he makes sure she gets to Susie okay, he invites her to the Vanguard, and, later, he breaks Sophie's blackball for her. He does favors for her that he wouldn't for anyone else, because, as he says, "You know I like you, and normally I would do anything in my power to make you feel better."

But mixed in with all of that is his words of affirmation. It starts simply, with him using his microphone (literally and figuratively) to tell others how great she is.

But then it goes beyond that. The deeper he gets into being actively in love with her, rather than caring about her solely as a friend, the more he lets his guard down, and the more he says the loveliest things to her in lieu of actually saying "I love you."

And it seems like he blossoms under the same things. Midge's words to him aren't phony, or trying to get something from him — so her compliments mean something. Just look at the glistening eyes and hear the crack in his voice when she says "lucky girl" about Kitty coming to stay with him, as if no one's ever said that about him. But even more than that, see the way he reacts when Midge shows up for him the same way he shows up for her. It's how he falls for her.

hey. i just binged your fic, “sisyphus.” it was fantastic and incredible. quite literally the fic i’ve been looking for about zuko and his crew. but also just zuko in general. i absolutely love the way you write him and all the different relationships. i love the way zuko thinks and the conclusions he comes to and i love that he joins the gaang early. i also LOVE the nerdy zuko bits and i need more immediately. but also just the badassery of zuko. people tend to forget just how strong he is and how good he is a fighting and stuff like that. he’s an intimidating dude. but yeah.

i love the way you write and the plot lines. i really hope you find the motivation to continue the story. even if you don’t, i can already tell that it’s one i’m going to be heading back to. i’m also definitely checking out the rest of your page. i hope you keep writing, you’re very good at it. <3333

this is so exciting :D and potentially hard, my show taste was wildly off the map this year alone and kinda hard to get hold of (sorry about that ! hopefully, my perpetual faves is helping out !)

hmm, i'm definitely more of a happier drama kind of person. the kinds of dramas that i like are not overly sweet but definitely sweet enough and fun ! good amounts of laughter and swooning, for sure. and cast chemistry ! i love it when a cast just jives with each other, like the group from hospital playlist or the besties from business proposal or kieta hatsukoi, the families from bokura no shokutaku or moving.

god, it's so hard to choose a fave character but i usually gravitate to either the puppy one or the one that looks like they need a hug XDD a broad spectrum but i hope it was kind of insightful. hopefully 🙏🏼

So...I just discovered TMMM and I really only watch for Lenny & Midge. I know I'm probably asking the million dollar question, but was there every any explanation on why Lenny wasn't around at all in S5? I get them not having a happily ever after, but I would have at least liked to have seen more of him. Was Luke filming something? Wasn't sure who else to ask...

Hey anon! I hope you've been enjoying the show as much as you can!

There's never been an "official" explanation for Lenny's minimal screen time in S5. It is true that Luke was filming something else (Panhandle) while TMMM S5 was filming, but according to him, at least, that wasn't part of the decision-making process.

There's a lot of speculation over why he had a smaller presence this season. Some think that it's the Palladinos "overcorrecting" because they never wanted Lenny to be a major character. Some think he was always supposed to have a smaller role. Some think it was attempting to downplay the unexpected positive reaction to Lenny (and Midge/Lenny) that the creators didn't plan on. Some think it was a way of avoiding having to shine quite as constant a spotlight on the real Lenny Bruce's downward spiral. In that same interview I linked, Luke had this to say:

"I feel like Lenny was sort of a curio figure, which was a great privilege for me to kind of just bounce in and out, but I really felt like they handled it so beautifully. And the way that Season 4 ended, in some ways felt like you couldn't top it. That stuff at Carnegie Hall, the scope of it was so big, and the punch of he and Midge colliding like that, and all of that It felt like, what more can you do? So, I was really content with what was given in the last season."

We'll probably never know what the thought process was behind cutting back on his screen time. I certainly wish they'd had him in at least one more episode, and I'm definitely mad that they didn't even talk about him when he'd been such a significant presence in the show and in Midge's life. But I'm glad Luke got a few scenes to really shine in (and maybe earn a farewell Emmy nom?), and I'm glad the structure of the finale meant our last moments with Midge/Lenny were them at their best: funny, supportive, witty, heartfelt, and flirtatious.
