4. What is the target audience for your WIP?
16. What is the setting of your WIP like?
Thank you for the ask!
4. What is the target audience for your WIP?
I don't think I'm writing for a target audience so much - I guess I'd say new adult if anything? But it's mostly just me writing for me and then sharing it with other people.
16. What is the setting of your WIP like?
It's a fairly isolated island with dramatic weather patterns, which was abandoned by investors halfway through the industrialisation process, so it's still caught halfway between nature and factories.

5 17 30 for the WIP ask
Thank you for the ask!
5. How long have you been working on your WIP?
It started as a fanfic about three years ago, but once the fic was done I couldn't get the story out of my head. I spent about a year letting it simmer in the background while I finished university and started to focus on it properly again towards the end of 2021. So I guess either three years or one and a half, depending on if you count the fic.
17. One fun fact about the world of your WIP?
Canaries are really common on the streets. The town was previously a mining town, which used canaries in the mines, and some of these canaries escaped and are basically now native to the country.
30. Do any of the names in your WIP have significance?
So my twin sister OCs Isbell and Maeryn have the surname Chorborne, which is a really common surname for their generation in particular because it's the name given to any child found abandoned. The chor is a particularly fast, thick sea fog which occurs in Misichor a lot, so Chorborne basically just means born from the sea fog.

Last line tag!
I was tagged by @aghostwriteblr - thank you!
Open tag for anyone who wants to share what they've been working on!
I've been writing a second-person scene to get a clearer picture of my setting, so my last line is from that.
-
Before you get there, though, you turn down one of the alleys. There is a faint yellow light still beaming from one of its windows.

Writblr Introduction!
Hello! My name is Constance. I've been on Tumblr for a while, but I've set up a new blog to try and be more active in the writblr community. I'm really looking forward to meeting you all!
Information about my current WIP, The Ghost Broadcast, is here.
My other short stories are all posted using the tag my stories.
I am very open to all tag games and asks :)
I made my profile picture using Picrew; you can find the creator here!
About me: I'm a queer white woman (she/her pronouns) in my mid-twenties, and I live in south-west England. I have two guinea pigs and a bedroom full of books. As well as writing, I play the flute, and I enjoy musicals and chill video games. I also have an MSc in literature and a full time job which is nothing to do with books.
About my writing: My major project at the moment is a fantasy story about a resistance group in a superpowered society, told through a collection of recovered documents. I'll be posting a lot about character development and worldbuilding. Eventually, my aim is to publish the story as a serial on a different blog.
I'm hoping to build up a mythology around my current world (Misichor) so might post other stories set in the same universe. Most of my writing has at least some elements of fantasy, and I also enjoy themes of found family, learning to forgive, and characters creating homes for themselves. I'm also not averse to a little tragedy now and then.

WIP Introduction
Tumblr media
basic information
title: The Ghost Broadcast
genre: Low/historical fantasy
themes: National identity and community, found family, the creation of legacies, the costs of resistance
content warnings: Violence and threat, character death, government oppression
setting
Misichor is an large island, one of the only places in the world which does not fall under the authority of the Duvallon Empire. The government is formed by the leaders of its six towns, who are led by an elected official. Its weather is unpredictable, its winters are harsh, and it is often blanketed by a thick sea mist known as the chor. Thirteen years ago, its growth as an industrial power was halted when a natural disaster struck, and its factories and mines were abandoned to be reclaimed by nature.
plot
A trainee historian has recently discovered documents which recreate the story of Misichore's Second Rising, two hundred years previously from the point of view of one of the groups which inspired it. Instead of submitting it to archivists, she chooses to publish it online.
In the wake of the disaster which struck Misichore ten years previously, its inhabitants began to develop mysterious abilities. The authorities initially allowed individuals with these abilities to use them for the good of society, but in recent years it has begun to exert stricter control over them. Individuals who voice opposition to this control have been vanishing. As unrest grows, a mysterious group begins a regular radio broadcast to coordinate a resistance movement.
I've posted a more detailed character list here, and all the extracts I've posted can be found under their character tags and the tag tgb extract.

👪 FAMILY - what is their family like? what is your ocs relationship to them? does your oc have any siblings? 📸 CAMERA - do they enjoy having their picture taken? what's their go-to pose? do they like taking photos? what do they take photos of? for your nerdiest OC
Thank you so much for the ask, I had a lot of fun with it! Asking for the nerdiest OC was a really interesting question - I'm going with Maeryn for this one, because she's the most technically minded of my OCs.
👪 FAMILY - Maeryn has her twin sister Isbell and their adoptive mother Susa. She does everything she can to take care of them, although she is easily frustrated by Isbell in particular, given that Isbell has very few self-preservation instincts. With Susa, their relationship is much more collaborative, and Susa spends a lot of time encouraging her interests. She also dreams about coming across her birth parents again one day.
📸 CAMERA - Cameras haven't been invented yet in Misichor, but Maeryn would try and have her picture taken as little as possible. She has a friend, Kisa, who likes drawing portraits, and she is a good subject for these as long as she doesn't know she's being drawn. If she does, she immediately begins to act very stiff and unnatural.
