Heya! Just dropping in with my first-ever post, presenting the first piece of fanart I've ever gifted to someone, featuring their absolutely incredible fanfiction that compelled me to write my first-ever comment on Ao3. Horrors not an idiot, he knows what happened. before that, he though nothing was more painful than watching her come to grieve and mourn him everyday, and beg for his forgiveness, but the day she stopped, he felt something in him die with her.

Father of Time Chapter 50: Family

But there were other creatures down in those deep places, living ones.  It had its own ecology that somehow thrived in the dark.  Strange living rocks and brilliant insects wandered through tall, feathery trees. Lantern-like plants pulsed with light, a steady on and off that sent shadows flying across the landscape. 

It was a strange, alien world that somehow still managed to be a part of the rest of the planet, though it was not a comfortable place to exist in. 

It had not taken long for the deities to catch up to Nocturne.  In fact, after a short chase, they found him waiting, looking disgruntled, his arms crossed over his chest and still shimmering faintly with moonlight.  A muttered apology to the others was acknowledged and the group settled down for another rest and to figure out what they were going to do next.  They had blocked the creature's exit back to the ocean but that didn't mean it would be easy to hunt down, even with the trail of black blood it was leaving behind.  Instead of a long fight, they were now looking at a longer chase.  This would take more time than they hoped. 

And so began The Hunt.

there is something REALLY salaciously delicious on a narrative level about mercy as an act to regret. about looking back at the moment you were gentle & docile & wishing you’d been vicious. about a character that is a dog who rolls over when you the audience are begging & pleading for it to bite. as a horror concept I fuck with mercy as an act of horror that you the audience beg against

as i sain on my main account, im gonna be a little slow on getting more stuff out again; my meds were upped and now im not doing so hot, so hopefully after my body gets used to it, i'll be doing better and getting back to it <3 thats for understanding

Father of Time Chapter 49: The Horrors of the Deepest Dark

A proper fight against unimaginable horrors could take weeks and they all knew it.  Before descending into the ocean by the dark rift, they took time to eat, drink and get at least one proper rest.  There was a brief talk of strategy, though none of them yet had a full picture of what the beast might be, and then they were standing on a small, rocky beach, preparing to do what they had been created for.  Protecting the land and destroying threats greater than mortal comprehension.

In a way, it was gratifying.  There was always the risk, of course, but this was what they were here for.  This was the job they were meant to do.  Not since Demise and the monstrosity in Hebra had they been tested.
