Fiori might not actually be a mermaid - instead, she's a siren, which (here in Crop Haven, anyway) share a common ancestor with harpies - but she still bears a lot of traits that resemble those of merfolk, having convergently evolved for the same purpose of living aquatically! And, like I said, she's the closest I have outside of AUs, so.. happy Mermay, everyone~ hehe

HEYYYY FRIENDS I HAVE A QUESTION!!! Regarding Garry’s Mod and Source Filmmkaer. Generally just for making models.

I wanna have a model of my self insert to play around with in Garry’s Mod,Source Filmmaker,etc!! But I dunno how you’d get that. So far I only have a few choices…

The choices…

A-Somehow learn Blender,create my self insert in 3D,and somehow learn how to export it to GMod and Source Filmaker

B-Use MMD,an easier way to create it,but with the catch that all the models are mostly just anime looking,and not toony like how I draw myself.

C- SOMEHOW get someone to create a model for me,which would probably cost lots of money,so that may be off the table!!!

Is there anything else I could do or anything I SHOULD do? Keep in mind I’m not the best with tech (tho am slowly getting better!!) and I have had next to no experience in 3D modelling aside from playing around in paint 3D!!!!!!

I’D APPRECIATE ANY SORTS OF HELP!!! THANK CHU ALL SO MUCHHHH!!!!!!!

Hello everyone, it's with a heavy heart that I feel I must make this announcement. I have decided that Perthea and its many projects must cease to continue. This includes a great many things, such as a majority of the artwork I create, a majority of the music I create, as well as more specific projects like the Storie series of UTAU voice libraries and my book Too Small To Be Afraid. All of these projects must cease to continue effective immediately.

Lengthy explanation ahead.

I'm sure you're all wondering why I'm suddenly choosing to stop creating something I've been so passionate about for the past 13 or so years. And there lies the problem-- it's been 13 years. I used to be proud of the fact that I've been carrying this project on for such a great length of time, but I now realize this isn't something I should be proud of. Not like other creators can be. Perthea never should have been a "project." It never should have seen the light of day. It began as a coping mechanism and an escape for me, one that tied itself around my throat and began to choke me until it was all I knew how to do. I've lived and breathed Perthea every day since I created Derrick.

I created Derrick during the spring or summer of 2012 with the intent of using the character for what are known as "MMD Dramas," which, without going into too much detail, are animations using the program MikuMikuDance that usually involve Vocaloids such as Hatsune Miku among others. Derrick was originally a re-color of the model for the Vocaloid KAITO that came with MikuMikuDance. Derrick's original purpose was to be a character that could act as Miku's creator/inventor in the story I wanted to tell. Derrick's original name was Riku (no last name). For about 8 months to a year, though, I didn't use this name (probably because he's white), and he had no name. I came up with the name Derrick Drake around March of 2013. (I came up with a middle name for him, Allen, around 2018 or 2019.)

I wrote a short script of something I wanted to animate (basically Miku being created, aaaaaaand that's it!), and then decided it sucked and proceeded to give up. Except, I didn't exactly give up on the idea. I remembered when I was younger, I used to make up stories in my head. Usually to help me go to sleep. So, I decided to take all the ideas I had and use them for stories in my head. I changed Miku to my own self-insert character, Kaylin... who, at the time, was named Keitorin, which is the Japanese phonetic spelling of my real name, Caitlyn. Except it was pronounced in the most American way possible for some reason. (I was 11 years old and a full-blown weeaboo. And yes I still cringe at this.) Making up stories in my head proceeded to take over my entire life. I began to daydream maladaptively, and used my daydreams as an escape from the real world. A world where I was a sheltered homeschooled kid with crippling social anxiety and no friends (not that I was even allowed to have any).

Over time, I only daydreamed more and more. I would stay in bed as late as 5 or 6 in the afternoon just to make up stories in my head. My parents had to beg, and I mean beg for me to get out of bed. I used to have to pretend I was doing some activity like playing on my 3DS so that nobody would think I was asleep. I couldn't tell anyone about my daydreams. I knew they'd tell me to stop.

Over time, I fell in love with Derrick. I don't mean this figuratively. I mean I was head over heels in love with a guy I made up for some stupid animation project I never finished. He became my world and my everything. My safe place. The only person I felt cared about me for a long, long time. I imagined having conversations with him, I imagined the two of us going on random misadventures... and over time, I started to ignore the fact that he wasn't real. From 2013 to 2016, I believed he was real and was going to find me in the real world and basically save me from the life I hated so much.

On May 18th, 2016, I requested prayer from my small group at church for my daydreaming. Derrick's absence was hurting me far more than I could bear. This ended up leading to a private conversation with my small group leaders, where they told me there was no way Derrick was real. I was crushed. On top of this, they wanted to bring my parents into this and suggested I see a therapist.

My parents may never understand Derrick. My therapists may never understand Derrick. But the knowledge that I'm never going to really know him or ever see him or be with him has destroyed me in a way I'm not sure I can be healed from. Imagine your soul mate suddenly ceasing to exist, and nobody understanding your grief because they don't believe the person ever existed. That may not have been exactly what happened, but it's the torment I've experienced for the past several years.

That's when I began working on projects. I began working on projects to "save" Derrick. So people could know him and so I could have some tangible part of him to hold onto. But in my grief, all I did was begin digging the grave. I never buried the body, and now I'm stuck in a deep, deep hole. I wanted Perthea to be perfect, because Derrick means so much to me. I wanted to give him something to show my love, even if he doesn't exist. But Perthea has been choking me for so long. I don't really have any interests outside of it since it consumed all I do. My art, my music, my writing... everything. It's nearly all I think about. It's nearly all I do and live for. And I want it to stop. I want to be done. And I know that if I don't post this now, I'm going to let it continue to choke me until the day I die. It's going to continue to ruin me and destroy my relationships.

The thing with Perthea is that it's never going to be finished. If I let it continue, it will always be a part of my life. Even if I did finish the book (which I've been struggling to do for years now, and it's taken a huge mental toll on me), Perthea would manifest itself in some other way and continue to control everything I do.

That's why this is the end. I have to make the choice to stop, to turn over a new leaf, to start anew from the beginning. I need to figure out how to live my life without Derrick in it or I'm never going to be happy.

I don't know what Derrick would have wanted for me, but I think he wouldn't have wanted me to suffer for his sake as much as I have. I think he would have wanted me to figure out how to continue living. To figure out how to be happy somehow.

To my readers and followers, to those who have supported me, and to those who have reached the end of this document, I want to take a moment to thank you all for your continued support. Seeing how you all have enjoyed Perthea means a lot to me. Seeing you care for my characters and how you want to see them succeed has meant so much to me. I must now ask for your forgiveness for my decision to not continue Perthea.

I plan on leaving all my content online as is, for everyone to read, listen, see, and enjoy. I ask that no one try to continue these projects in any way, shape, or form. I will try to quickly tie up the loose ends of TSTBA in a summarized sort of way, since I know it must suck to be left hanging. Other than that, Perthea is over, and I'm leaving everything as it stands.

[Blender to MMD] A MW idiot's journey

Hi everyone! I'm sharing part of my journey to turn the Mouthwashing characters into MMD models (Of course! Others have done this already, but I'm doing it from scratch 'cause I later want to import my bastard son too (I've commissioned his model from PinterHex_Studio) and well, a girl's gotta know her way around stuff.

So first of all! I first got the Mouthwashing characters from Aarontaro's Sketchfab page. He is behind several of the amazing versions that you've probably seen around in VRChat videos!

Then I went outta my way and got Blender (But I don't like animating there so I of course I wanted to go to MMD to feel like my cringy self from when I was 12), I got the version 2.77 for Windows64. Then I got the MMD Tools by sugiany (I apologize if I got the credits wrong). After fighting for a while trying to install it since I was doing this late at night, I began to test out the whole import, export, convertion thing.

In Blender everything worked just fine, I imported him, added him his textures and all (Tho I realized waaaaay later that I wasn't putting him the Textures but putting him Material) so when I first managed to import his model in PMX Editor (Ver. 0.2.2.2) he looked like this, he didn't even look like the typical white glitch in PMX Editor

""Ok, finally managed to export his fbx ass to pmx but Jimmy, I get I draw you dark skinned but this is ridiculous why are your textures not showing?!"" (Mf really embraced being a dead pixel)

(Black?! My son is black!? joke because I had to laugh it off instead of getting mad)

So, I went back to Blender where I found out the thing about Material =/= texture. (Yeah of course, someone who knows about this would probably have figured that out faster, but I'm not, I'm just a common girl doing girly things).

Once solved the texture problem, now he looks fine in PMX Editor but badly in MMD. Need to figure out how to solve the Vertex issue.

The solution was particulary simple, it was just going to Edit in PMX Editor then click on "Vertex Morph Normalize" option.

See, Jimmy? Unlike you, I'm slowly fixing it. Now we have to make sure your Bones aren't as fucked up (I mean I can still pose him and animate him if I feel like it, but I want it to be more comfortable) which I'll do later since I have work to do

Mf thinks he can make my life miserable. I love how pissed off he looks, he can't get away with shit lmao

Anyway! I hope you had as much fun as I did while revisiting this whole fiasco, I swear it looks simple in this post, but I've been literally doing this for several hours and got mad in the middle of the night too, the things I do because I want to do silly animations and cringe shit besides some rancid argentinian tiktoks with these characters lmao.

Help! Kingdom Hearts LowPoly 3D Artists?

This is a shot in the dark but there’s not really anything else I can do.

Does anybody in the Kingdom Hearts space know of any decent artists that work with 3D and have experience with making Vrchat avatars, and that is taking commissions?

Please don’t suggest DaniKH or Virtual Student. We’ve already tried those and neither bore any fruit. I have a friend ( @punksolidarity ) who’s got a lowpoly-style model of their KH oc that they’d like adjusted and potentially made into a Vrchat avi.

The model (blender file) already has an armature but right now the face the model has is only a texture (think like in some kh cutscenes.) so they’re also looking for someone to be able to actually model a face in the kh1/2 esque low poly style.

If you know anyone, please say so!

I've had this idea for a while now that I wanted to make an idol (or something similiar to this) OC. So one day when I was going through some of my old stuff, I decided to remake one of my (most probably) earliest models I've made that would fit the 'idol' criteria.

Her first version was made in 2017 at the latest. The one and only render I have of her is from March 11, 2017 (only if the date in the file's name is correct). I don't think I even used her first model that much if at all. Well, she disappeared for 7 years, but she's back now and she's beautiful. And now she actually does have a name (maybe she had one back then but I just forgot it).

I know I said that she's pretty much an idol OC, but you could kinda call her a fanloid too. I was very much inspired by Miku's design here, like: headset with music bars, long socks with the light-thingy on knees and thighs, the shirt (especially the triangle details at the ends), etc. In overall, I was going for this typical vocaloid-syle. The inspiration was intentional, that's for sure.

But the only one thing that she doesn't have that fanloids do, is a voicebank. Maybe one day, who knows (I doubt that my voice would fit her but it could be interesting). I never really did anything in programs like Vocaloid or Utau other than trying to create my own voicebank in the latter. Not much came out of it though as 12-13 year old me only had a microphone that came pre-built in the laptop itself and those really are not great.

Also somewhere before my journey with MMD (so think like before 2016) I used to kinda make OCs in my notepad app on a phone. I remember one of such were Vocaloid-inspired OCs. I'd download images with (as I would describe it) anime girls and come up with characteristics for them. Then I would just imagine them having journeys with actual vocaloid and utau characters (they were actual "living" beings in that "au"). So, this model is kind of a tribute to those times. A bit silly probably, but I see that as making my younger self's dreams come true by actually making a proper OC/model based on vocas/utaus.

I know that I've talked quite a bit now but I'm still not yet done.

Here's the very rough concept art of her new model. The vibes are a bit different here from the final product but I kinda like how it came out more.

Literally just a head-swap with the default TDA Miku model (with just changed hue) and hair from Rem's model or her twin, idk I haven't watched that anime in years. And also the head edit that I don't know where it came from (nonetheless I apologize to the author for my younger self).

To say that she got an upgrade now would be a big ass understatement. The v2.0 is the goddess herself and v1.0 is playing limbo in hell.

Still, it's a nice comparison of my skills throughout the years. My literal beginnings with MMD/PMXE and then how after 7-8 years of model editing (and at some point modeling from scratch) it evolved into what is now.

..okay I can’t help myself so here are some Antares design notes to follow on from last night:

Her main colour is the teal I’ve used here for two reasons. One is that Antares directly translates to “rival/enemy of Ares”, with Ares being the ancient Greek god of war (to the Romans, Mars); the IRL star is named this because it is also red and appears bright enough that it can be mistaken for the planet Mars, but I thought it would be neat to instead make her colour scheme the opposite of red, so near green (because rivals). However, it’s specifically this teal because it’s the colour of a certain other Team Meteor member - namely, Absolute. (Whose perhaps-more-familiar real name is Lin.)

I tested a number of different eye colours for her, including red (like the IRL star as said above), purple, gold, and the teal seen in the rest of this outfit (but it was perhaps a bit too same-y given how I made the outfit here). I think the grey works well, though - I’m just not 100% set on it.

Her hairstyle might seem a bit odd - her overall look is very sporty and not overly feminine but then her hair is half-up in twin plaits with bun things at the top? Well, that’s because Antares’ hairstyle here is the one I originally tried to use for Adriana. Except the fringe looks different because of her goggles and hairband. =3

(I know my other self-insert Nova also has this same hairband, and it was a pain to work around on her reference model, so I might not actually keep it on Antares’ - but it fits her vibes well, I think. She is kind of similar to Nova personality-wise anyway, if perhaps to a worse extent.)

Regarding her outfit, there are a fair few things to say. I think I started with the scarf and a sleeveless top - I don’t think a single other Team Meteor member has their shoulders out, so this detail is an easy way to make Antares stand out. However, the scarf and the elbow things help make the outfit less outright summery, which I think is good.

I had wanted to try and incorporate the Team Meteor logo - a red M - somewhere in her outfit, but that wasn’t really feasible in the constraints of this creator. Maybe it’s on the back of her top or something. You might be wondering why she isn’t just wearing an actual Team Meteor uniform, but this is because she is me and I can do whatever I want to, I’ve decided =P

I think I will change the shoes, because the ones I picked out on the creator make her look a bit too “normal Trainer”-y and not as “evil team member”-y. Other than that, though, I think the accessory details work well, though I might add some more details to the actual main clothes because they’re Very Plain right now.

Finally, this is actually not at all how I was originally intending her to look/dress. My first plan was to play off of the concept of a “joker”, since.. well, Ace represents the four card suits and thus the rest of the deck. But I couldn’t really envision how to do that in a way that still made Antares feel like me, so I went with more of a contrasting modern/sleek vibe instead of trying to match/complement their style.

..I should really try to make Adriana in this creator at some point, just to have a more direct comparison of the two (because that’s just fun, especially in this specific instance given the lore). Having said that, though, I can also just do it once/if I start trying to put together a reference model for Antares in MMD, given that Adriana has one.

Anyway, though, thank you to everyone who has read all of this. And for generally putting up with whatever this nonsense is. I at least am having fun despite the lingering bafflement.

[MMD Godzilla x MLB] John Zavala and Dagon

A sequel of my Fusion Rise piece, this one with a little more context given.

John Zavala is many things. Autistic, Mexican-American, easily excited, energetic, intelligent, and most of all, a huge fan of Tokusatsu.

Growing up, John was always fascinated by the idea of superheroes and secretly dreaming of being one. So when he and his adopted parents(He never knew his real parents, as John was found on the Zavala's doorstep as an infant) moved to Paris, John became excited at the idea of meeting its residential heroes, Ladybug and Cat Noir.

However, he would soon get the opportunity to be a hero himself when he came across a the seemingly fictional Kaiju duo Gigan and Megalon suddenly appeared and began attacking the city of Paris, clearly under the control of an outside influence.

John was so busy in his little world that he almost died from being crushed by a piece of debris. He would soon be saved by a twin fairy priestesses called the Shobijin who told him of an evil alien race called the Xiliens who wished to conquer Earth by using an artifact called the Exif Key which could activate a super weapon called the Bilusaludo Cannon. Once it was activated, then Earth would be done for.

The Shobijin would give him a device called a Riser and tell him that with it and the Kaiju Capsules they gave him as well, he could transform into any version of Godzilla and even create fusions of past designs aid in his fight.

Upon being returned to his senses, John looked at the rampaging kaiju and used the only two capsules available to him at the moment : Gojira(1954) and Zilla(1998) to create WinstonGoji's Godzilla design.

After driving off Gigan and Megalon, he quickly changed back into his human self, but not before Ladybug caught a good look at his Riser, leading her to mistake him for a Miraculous User.

John would soon find the Shobijin living in his room declaring that he cannot tell people of his heroic work, lest the Xiliens learn who this unknown hero is.

Crafting a costume from black jeans, sneakers, a black zip-up sweater, and a white mask covering his mouth, John fights against the Kaiju and Xiliens as the hero known as Dagon.

Powers:

Being only human, John has no discernable abilities except for his "Autism Sensor" which allows him to be able to detect other Autistics that are in the same room as him (However, this ability has allowed him to sniff out Xiliens hiding in the crowds.) He also possesses above average strength which has come useful for when he is doing hand-to-hand combat as a human. Because he has Autism, John has some form of hyper-sensitivity, meaning that certain senses are more enhanced than the others, which can be both a blessing and a curse depending on the situation.

As Dagon, he has enhanced reflexes and knowledge of how to use a sword in combat, which helped him win in his fight against Ryuko, who mistakenly believed that Dagon was an Akuma.

His Riser allows him to use specific Kaiju Capsules that allow him to change into different versions of Godzilla, sometimes merging two of them to create a new design, along with getting certain powers exclusive to those versions of Godzilla.

The more powerful the fusion is, the less control he has over it. Hence why he avoids the following transformations: Super Godzilla, Evolved Godzilla, Burning Godzilla, Thermonuclear Godzilla, Shin Godzilla, Godzilla Ultima, and Godzilla Earth. _________

ArtFight really needs to adjust the ratings for 3D attacks The ratings currently are either using textures you made yourself or using premade textures, no in between

Just about every time you're going to make a 3D model, you're going to be using some sort of premade texture. You can get points still when using premade brushes and textures in digital art, but not when making 3D models?

I do MMD art and almost every time I make a model I use some premade textures, like ones that come with the base or parts I use. I like making my own textures and usually edit the existing ones, but no matter what you're going to have some premade textures in your model

They should have a rating for including a mix of both premade and self made textures. Either you get points for textures or you don't, and it's really unfair imo.

I pointed this out to a mod and they were pretty rude to me about it, but I can't get screenshots since I'm banned but tldr their response was something like "you need to make everything by yourself to get points otherwise you mark it as no/premade texture" but there was more to it than that, and it felt very hurtful to me as an avid 3D modeler

They adjusted the ratings to allow bases, so why can't they do the same for textures? It's only fair when you consider how important premade textures are to 3D modeling
