Help! Kingdom Hearts LowPoly 3D Artists?
This is a shot in the dark but there’s not really anything else I can do.
Does anybody in the Kingdom Hearts space know of any decent artists that work with 3D and have experience with making Vrchat avatars, and that is taking commissions?
Please don’t suggest DaniKH or Virtual Student. We’ve already tried those and neither bore any fruit. I have a friend ( @punksolidarity ) who’s got a lowpoly-style model of their KH oc that they’d like adjusted and potentially made into a Vrchat avi.
The model (blender file) already has an armature but right now the face the model has is only a texture (think like in some kh cutscenes.) so they’re also looking for someone to be able to actually model a face in the kh1/2 esque low poly style.
If you know anyone, please say so!

Hello it’s me again
Person who has a lot of thought on Axel KH and Diasomnia.
So far everybody is voting Lilia it seems and I absolutely agree. this isn’t a post about me arguing with the vote.
But I wanted to talk about this because I genuinely think they’re both on par with one another but Axel loses plainly because of circumstances.
Axel was groomed into a cult when he was around fifteen, spent 10 years or so in said cult trying to get by. We know he was threatened consistently, watched his best friend get his face torn open likely by Xemnas. Axel is surviving bro.
Now insert two kids he’s put in charge of. He cares about them so damn much for someone who literally is told he can’t feel a damn thing and consistently puts himself on the line for them.
He protects Xion and Roxas from Saix the best he could despite knowing he’ll face consequences for it later. Has to go after Xion when she runs off because if he doesn’t he’ll be murdered or they’ll send someone who will not care about Xion’s well being enough to care about hurting her.
Now he also knows where she’s running off to after finding out she’s a replica. He’s already conflicted because Saix is trying to pressure him to choose between them and he LITERALLY DOES NOT WANT TO. And now she’s threatening to go to a place where she’ll be recompleted with Sora and effectively no longer exist it’s an entirely lose/lose scenario.
Like in the og days game on the DS he realizes both Roxas and Xion were sent on a mission to effectively destroy one another and he INTERFERES knowing he’ll get in SO much trouble.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lilia and Axel are similar in this regard I think. Especially considering Lilia and Malleus. The current political climate punished Lilia for saving Malleus’s fucking life because he gave his life force to help Malleus hatch. When he was punished for this, he respected that choice despite it being fucked up because both of them are beholden to a higher power with no respect for either of them. Despite this Axel STILL goes against orders multiple times for the best interest of these kids.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like Axel knows this situation is fucked and is using his prior knowledge to tow the line with what he can get away with doing for their sake. which results in scenes like this where Axel is trying to get Roxas to quit provoking Saix. Seems unfair on Roxas' end but from Axel it's an act of survival.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The biggest difference being Axel’s kids’ lives were at stake, but Malleus was ultimately going to be ok. If Malleus was treated similarly to Roxas or Xion we cannot say Lilia would have reacted entirely differently. When in an abusive situation you're walking on eggshells constantly.
One thing I can see for Axel not being as good/worse than Lilia is Axel acting a bit cold to Xion. Which is kind of a huge point of his character development in the original days. That he knew Roxas first, is learning he has to choose between one and is trying to protect himself emotionally. Inevitably he fucking fails to put up that wall because when Xion outright asks him how he feels/what she should do. He tries to put up a front but that front immediately collapses the minute Xion looks hurt. He levels with her and tells her he cares about her so much and the only person who can make these decisions for her is her. (Which inadvertently fucks him over when Xion chooses to sacrifice herself for Roxas)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
LIKE YOU CAN SEE THE MOMENT HE BEGINS TO FEEL BAD ABOUT THIS AND BACKPEDALS. Keep in mind Xigbar heard this entire conversation and when Xion flees for the second time, he has this to say about it:
Tumblr media
Now Lilia is also sort of cold to Malleus in the beginning for differing, yet similar reasons.
Chapter seven spoilers coming up.
During a flashback we see Malleus’ perspective of when he was a young boy and interacting with Lilia. Lilia tries to play with him but his own mass of power and connection to his emotions causes Lilia pain. This sets a precident where Lilia needs to be careful how he interacts with Malleus in fear of him hurting himself or others. Similarly, he can’t really stick around the castle all that much given the council fucking hates his guts. We also know Lilia did not know how to raise a human child very well when Silver came around and had a few mishaps. (and Lilia has over 400 years on Axel when this fucking red head is 25 single mom who works two jobs loves her kids and never stops)
Also, Axel is no stranger to actually showing and saying he cares about both of them like Lilia does with his kids. He tries really hard to come across a certain way but those walls break down the minute Roxas or Xion need him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the last image here? This was after he found out Xion was a replica and potentially doomed to disappear. Despite everything he keeps fighting for a future that he knows full well won't happen.
Tumblr media
and reality is harsh.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok, sorry for this yapfest. I agree Lilia overall gave his kids a better upbringing than Axel ever could but I want to articulate that it's of no fault of his own and purely based on circumstances. Every option available to him was shut from the beginning and that's what makes this dynamic a TRAGEDY. Everything Axel does throughout days is an act of protecting who he cares about. its not his fault xehanort is playing fucking 5D chess with the lives of him and his kids.
Ok yap over.

I am someone who will always vouch for Axel being a victim of Saix emotional and psychological abuse. Which eventually culminates into physical when Saix killed him. And argue with the wall about canonimity. Not only is the scene where Saix stabs Axel shown in the manga, but described in the novels AND BACKED UP BY THE CHARACTER FILES ULTIMANIUM.
Saix is a pos I hate that he’s on the clocktower in kh3 fuck kh3 fuck Nomura.
Actually, you know what, no, I’m not done talking about this whole “I think Saix is an abusive friend and being brainwashed by Xehanort doesn’t excuse his actions” topic. This is going to be probably long, and seriously rambly, and probably not make sense, but let’s buckle up kids because this is why this whole thing is so important to me. Saix was probably brainwashed by Xehanort at one point. Honestly, there’s a lot I can excuse Saix for doing. He follows Xemnas’ orders without question. He tirelessly hunts for the room with Axel and when he kidnaps Kairi, it’s because Xemnas wants Sora and probably not much of another reason (except, possibly, to get back to Axel for going rogue). Those are all actions I can reasonably excuse on the “brainwashed by Xehanort” front. But there are things Saix has done that can’t be excused by him being brainwashed because they have nothing to do with what he was ordered to do by Xemnas.
You know who WAS brainwashed by Xehanort? Who I can totally forgive, even though he did a shit ton of very messed-up shit, because he was a desperate, emotionally unstable person with very few role models of positive behaviour in his life? Who I will 100% defend despite the (staggering) number of fucked-up choices he made? Axel, that’s who. And let me tell you the difference.
Here’s aa list of things Axel has done when his orders from Xehanort conflicted with his loyalty to his friends:
-He ARGUED with them. He fucking screamed at them. He wanted them to come back of their own volition and he made it perfectly clear that he didn’t approve of what they were doing, why did they have to be idiots? But he argued. He wanted them convinced, not forced. -He made it pretty clear his first priority was their well-being in almost every situatioon. Half the time he basically only brought them back because he couldn’t see a better way out for any of them. -He made it VERY clear that he Did Not Want To Be Doing This At All. -Even when he was on the opposite side of the battlefield, he made sure they knew that he cared and supported them. (”I’ll always be there to bring you back!”) -He goes out of his way to find a better solution -He lets Roxas go. In the end, in The World That Never Was, in the one scene we all probably know by heart, he lets. Roxas. Go.
Yeah, Axel wasn’t the pinnacle of good friendship, maybe, but he was trying. He wanted to help. He was caught between a rock and a hard place, and the hard place was the conditioning that the Organization Came First, and would Destroy You if you didn’t follow their orders.
Conversely, when Saix’s orders conflict with his friend’s loyalties, and his own loyalties to Axel, here’s what Saix does:
-He threatens Axel. Obey, or else. -He tells Axel “If you were really my friend, you would X.” -He deliberately calls Axel “Lea” in order to manipulate him. -He tells Axel he has to choose between his new friends (phrased as the wrong choice) or his old friend (his “real” friend, according to Saix) -He goes behind Axel’s back to threaten and demean Axel’s other friends, implied to be a result of Axel not paying enough attention to Saix. -He gives Axel orders that will conflict with his loyalties despite there being other Org members he could tap -He tells Axel that what he’s doing is for Axel’s own good -He doesn’t stop to ask Axel’s feelings on the matter - he just assumes that he knows best -When Axel tries to speak up for himself and his friends, Saix pulls the aforementioned emotional manipulation tactics instead of listening to what Axel has to say.
Do you see the difference? Saix could have easily asked one of the other Org members to go after Xion. Saix could’ve easily stopped, listened to Axel, still disagreed with him. Saix could’ve skipped the whole “Lea” bullshit, could’ve told Axel he disapproved in other words than “which are you going to choose, a make-believe friendship, or the real one?” None of that had anything to do with his orders - it had everything to do with how Saix chose to go about dealing with, interpreting, and reacting to his orders. Axel still carried out his orders, bitterly complaining all the while because he hated going against his friends. Saix just expected Axel to shut up and sit like a dog.
And then there’s the matter of how even characters that had spent WAY longer, and from WAY younger an age than Saix, listening to Xehanort’s bullshit and being manipulated by him - i.e Zexion/Ienzo, who according to the Secret Ansem Reports was the one Xehanort used to manipulate Ansem into the dark heart experiments - chose to go against him once they got their hearts back. Even Even - who was VEXEN, creepy mad scientist, implied by BBS to have been working with Braig/Xehanort from the beginning - decides, you know, hey, maybe this whole Xehanort becoming-a-vessel thing isn’t a good idea.Saix, meanwhile, leaves with Braig before the others even wake up. There’s no hesitance. He didn’t mill around waiting, didn’t try to escape before reluctantly returning to Xehanot. Gave no indication that returning to Xehanort wasn’t a wholehearted, willing decision. Yeah, there’s historical evidence of people who’ve been brainwashed choosing their former captors/masters in a sort of Stockholm-y way, but Saix doesn’t show any of the signs of that when he meets with Sora in DDD. In that moment, he chooses Xehanort just as fully as Braig does. He even still goes by Saix despite having his heart back - even Braig goes back to Braig from Xigbar (if I remember correctly; that’s one detail I could be wrong on).
And most telling of all is a line from 358/2 Days. When Roxas asks Lea what a best friend is, as opposed to a regular friend, Axel replies, “I wouldn’t know. I don’t have any best friends.”
This happens right after the way Saix treats him in the scene where he calls him Lea (if I remember the order right). Axel has moved on from Saix. In that moment, he’s essentially disowned him as a friend. Whatever Lea had with Isa is gone. So unless Saix shows remorse, a sincere change in his personality, and wholly renounces Xehanort and apologizes for what he did, I’m not going to say he deserves redemption for Lea’s sake, because Lea doesn’t want him anymore.
Saix isn’t a poor victim abused by fate and circumstance. He’s a toxic, abusive person who burned his bridges with Lea a long time ago, and even if he’s “rescued”, a rescue he doesn’t show any indication of wanting, he’s going to have to start over from the beginning, because what he had before is dead, gone, and buried.

Kairi’s risk assessment meter is definitely… miscalibrated. She ran into dark portals, jumped off a balcony, and basically challenged Saix while unarmed.
The boys are bold in relatively healthy, competitive/optimistic ways… But Kairi is straight-up brash.
The boys think things like “I bet I can beat this/I can totally beat this” I don’t think Kairi even gets that far I think she just goes “I’M GONNA RUN STRAIGHT AT IT LETS GO.” Like, whether or not she can win doesn’t even factor into it.
…I wonder how many times the boys have had to stop her from doing wild shit… “KAIRI GET DOWN FROM THERE… NO DON’T JUMP!”

KH2 Kairi is actually decent
I wish they do more with Kairi. For the little she's in, she seems like a cool character. I really appreciated and liked her in KH2. That's when I felt she had the most part in things.
I felt that she actually does things herself and takes part in the ending battle.
When Sora was surrounded by Heartless and it's way too much, Kairi jumps down and starts fighting with him with her keyblade.
When she was being chased by Axel for leverage, (that way Sora would go to her and Axel would perhaps turn Sora into a heartless, so he could see Roxas) Kairi gave him a chase for awhile.
Tumblr media
She managed to outrun him for awhile and even went into a dark portal to get away. Axel himself remarked that not many would do that. Of course she did get caught but still I feel like that's pretty good.
Then she was trying to escape on her own too when she found Riku. That's when he gave her a keyblade to use.
Tumblr media
Before Sora realized who Riku was, Riku was acting shy and didn't want to see him while looking like Ansem (SOD) along with the fact he kinda caused bad things to happen.
Riku wanted to leave and he kept pretending he was just a figure from the darkness. This is the moment where Kairi grabs Riku's arm and is like Riku don't go. There she is like, why is he acting like this, being shy and embarrassed.
She probably is thinking, why is he acting like this, we're all finally together again. Sora is surprised, but she pulls them together so everyone could realize it's their friend.
In the manga, she mentions this:
Tumblr media
"Geez, when's you get to be like this?"
She obviously didn't know what happened to him or that Sora had his memories reformed and everyone almost forgot him and Riku had to deal with saving him and hurting Roxas (Riku is shown to feel compassion and remorse towards nobodies), along with the fact on the darkness he used and what he caused in the first game.
However, she gets him to stay and she tells Sora who he is. I felt like that was really big for her to try to reconnect her friends again.
Tumblr media
That's the only time I'd probably say I like that she was able to connect all of their friendships again.
Honestly, I feel like she should try to be her own person outside her friends too because while the three of them are all friends, she ends up being pushed aside a lot. There she wasn't.
She was able to fight and defend Riku's back. Kairi was able to hold her own ground. But after KH2, it's not the same especially in KH3 which is her next role (DDD ending doesn't count nor does BBS)
Tumblr media
KH3
In KH3, she could have come in the game much sooner. I feel like the training part was kind of something she shouldn't have done. I mean yeah she needs training, but couldn't they have her do that when Riku and Sora were in Dream Worlds?
Why couldn't they decide to train her then? Is it because the stakes were high when they realized Xehanort had gathered a new organization for his vessels?
Tumblr media
I feel like they could have gotten her a lot sooner. Maybe even not train as long in the game? Remember at the end of DDD Sora goes to see the dream eaters and is there for a while, maybe during that time she could have and once Sora is done with seeing Hercules, Kairi could have helped Ienzo and the others with reviving Namine.
Tumblr media
She could have helped some other way like how Riku and Mickey was searching for Aqua.
Sora was traveling to get stronger and gain the ability of waking.
Ienzo and the ex organization members were studying things to help Roxas and figure out what the enemy is trying to plan.
Tumblr media
Kairi could have helped them or even helped with Namine return instead.
But she just gets pushed to the side. While her conversation with Lea is fine and shows that he is sorry for what he has done and sees Xion in her, that could have been in that beginning and only then. Why does she have to train for that long?
I feel like actually going to worlds and helping is better.
Then in the battle at the end she is absolutely kind of useless. Like she isn't holding up as much in KH2, of course there will be stronger people but I don't know... I feel like she could have kept going and trying. Then she gets taken by Xemnas, until Xehanort destroys her.
Tumblr media
Thus she becomes a damsel in distress and a plot device again. Sora saves her and then he is launched off to the Quadratum.
And her being a plot device is one of the exact reasons I think she should be her own person outside of her friends, Riku and Sora.
She could do so much more as a character without them because the story is about Sora and Riku among other things. They are the main focus, they are in every game (besides mobiles since those are in the past) and are even focused more on in birth by sleep— a game where they aren't the main characters. They have greater screen time than her. It's still little, but it's more.
Tumblr media
Hopefully since in MoM she is going to train under Aqua, it will show some interesting development of a character for her.
She's only in the main numbered games really, and it seems she might not be in the next installment. However, I really hope we get more on her or more of a story relating to her. Because her backstory has potential, her character has potential. It's just not used enough.
Even in parts of the novel and manga that I've seen, she seems almost better there. It's probably because she's not the focus.
But hopefully in the future she will be more

hi hello i hope you don't mind but Special Interest Infodump Mode has been activated please keep hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times-
this explanation comes to us courtesy of Dark Road! You know, that cutesy little mobile game where literally the whole cast except the two protagonists dies. This is on brand bc the explanation has it's own fridge horror levels to it if i think too hard about it tbh.
So, worlds have hearts. We've known this since KH1, seen what happens to a world that loses its heart, and how they can be affected. It's rarely been expounded on beyond that however, aside vague allusions to the titular Kingdom Hearts being/harboring the Heart of All Worlds.
(which has. other implications now that i think about it but that's stepping into theorising territory. im sorry im trying really hard to stay on track honest)
fast forward to Dark Road, where we have a bunch of kids venturing out into the worlds for the first time, and as such have to have things explained to them (and thus the audience). NOW i will note here that KH looooooves unreliable narrators and characters imparting incorrect information without knowing it, so there is always the possibility that this could later turn out to be wrong, but currently I see no reason this would be the case and thus for now i feel safe in taking their words at face value unless otherwise contradicted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why are there no people? Because each world is alive, and after the Keyblade War sundering THE World into MANY Worlds, each needed to recover and restore what was lost; life, time, movement.
Tumblr media
This bit here is important, bc as a result
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All of this is the direct result of the Keyblade War of old. Even after so much time, the bits of worlds are *still* recovering, and I do think there's something to be said about how like... the repition between worlds and their apparent stagnation often *stops* after Sora visits them. I don't think it's because Sora's special(tm), but rather just because of who he is; the Dark Road kids are told never to interfere, and as a result the worlds they visit that Sora also visits later are exactly the same to Sora as they were 80+ years before.
But when Sora visits the same world only a short time after his first visit, things CHANGE. Hercules' story moves forward, Simba is having a crisis about being king, Jack Skellington has learned his lesson about Christmas and is on to new shenanigans. And that's only in kh2! in kh3 we see Twilight Town fill with people, barren Olympus expands into a full town (and there's more there too with BBS and how the Wayfinder Trio may have been Olympus' start towards restoring itself completely, and Sora's later arrival more speeding things along)
my point here is *connections*, which is a consistant and overarching theme of the series. Empty worlds are baby worlds, still healing and restoring from being broken away from the rest, and what helps along that healing? Being connected to others.
Which is to say that the keyblade weilder's doctrine of 'do not interfere' while most certainly well-intentioned (as Dark Road also points out, one persons darkness is anothers light, and morality is not a solid truth across worlds, so interfering is risky at best and dangerous at worst), the flip side to this is that without being connected, without that ''interferance'', the world's restoration stagnates and struggles. It will still get there eventually (the Tangled world seems to be doing alright for example), but chances are it might've been a little easier/faster if someone had done a little interfering.
tldr keyblade war broke the worlds and reset them all to zero. As the worlds heal time stops until it's People finally pop back into existance and their stories can resume. And that's how the invisible crowds in early kh games are canon.

Also not to forget Saix is a full grown adult and Vanitas has been alive for 4 years at best.
What that anon forgets is that Saix was working behind the scenes with Vexen to help the heroes and was taking actions to atone for his crimes and mistakes, just like Riku and Ansem the Wise do. Lumping Vanitas in the same category doesn't work as he does not do anything that makes him worthy of being forgiven. He does not work to get redeemed, on the contrary he's still a stalker who treats Ven like an object to be owned, tries to kill Aqua and commits more crimes instead of atoning for them.
/takes a deep breath/
Okay. Thanks to @astroaethrae, I believe this is a troll. I certainly hope so; I have not made my opinions on these sorts of things secret, and I was clearly the one who brought up Saix, so I can only assume this person is messing with me.
However, I’m going to bring up my deepest concerns here, because I am. Sincerely annoyed with this.
Firstly. Name one moment in the entirety of KH3 where evidence was given that Saix did anything to repent. You can’t. It’s not there. We’re shown Demyx’s actions and Vexen’s actions, but never any from Saix. We just hear Vexen and Demyx say he wanted to atone, and that their efforts were his idea. (Let’s ignore the ‘he had an idea so he basically did enough to earn redemption lol’ thing for the crux of the point.) We were told, not shown, that Saix wanted to earn forgiveness. Yet for some reason, countless people have lapped this up like it’s not only acceptable storytelling, but good storytelling. I have no idea why.
(And, as my friend pointed out, he literally treated Xion and Roxas like trash, attacked and tormented Sora and his friends, and treated his ‘friend’ Axel like dirt because… jealousy. That’s it. He kidnapped Kairi, befriended Xemnas, and betrayed Axel… for jealousy. What. A spectacular reason to go full baddie. Wow. Mm-hm.)
Now. Vanitas. My friend pointed out that he didn’t kill Aqua the first time even when ordered to do so, that he didn’t go half as bad as others (like Saix), and more, but really, I’m not going to play the apologetics game (save to warn you not to use buzz terms on me; Vanitas wasn’t a stalker, and the very fact that you tried to use the term here made me laugh incredulously). I’ll be the first to admit that Nomura once again did a hack job writing Vanitas, because in the games, he acts as an unrepentant villain. (Just like Saix.) I readily accept that, if your only knowledge of him is through the games, you won’t like him.
But. Huge but. Even in the games, you should well know that he manifested at age twelve, and his only mentor/authority figure/father figure was Xehanort. That alone should be enough for you to be cognizant of the way he must have grown up. But to make it clear: he was born into agony; his body felt unending pain due to his literally fractured heart. He was taught he was nothing but darkness and an abomination. He was also taught that the only way to fix his eternal torment and become something other than walking trash was to form the χ-blade. Hence his not stalking but literally ordered check-ups on Ven during BbS, which he did in order to see Ven’s progression and perhaps be able to form the χ-blade, which he was anxious to do as quickly as possible because, as I stated, eternal, unending agony.
Basically, Vanitas has a damn good reason to turn to villainy, and Saix doesn’t.
But my biggest issue with your argument here is that, for someone to “deserve better,” they must first earn it. Apparently you don’t know what a redemption arc is. The entire point of the arc is that the arc itself shows the process of ‘earning’ it. When we say Vanitas deserves better, we aren’t saying he never did anything bad. We’re saying he deserved a storyline in which he was allowed to be something more than that. We’re saying we wanted him to have a redemption arc. That lazy writing that handwaved Saix’s actions because he ‘had an idea’ off-screen and didn’t do anything, didn’t put himself in danger in literally any way, to enact said idea? That lazy ‘I know Xehanort was bad, but he’s my childhood friend so we cool’ moment? That ‘Axel kidnapped Kairi but suddenly she’s okay with it’ stuff? That ‘I’m actually gonna miss you, Ansem’ tripe? If Nomura could play that lazy crap with them, he could have done something for the sixteen year old who had done nothing but suffer since his inception.
Edit: and do not try to tell me that Vanitas’ little “the shadow is warm inside. this is where I feel at home; this is my place to hide” moment was ‘redemption’ or even ‘Vanitas finding his place,’ because what it absolutely was was Vanitas becoming resigned to his ‘place’ as nothing but darkness, and I rage about it every time I think about it, because that is so, so close to normalizing the abuse he suffered. So don’t ever try to applaud that moment to me.
Oh, and by the way? I’m gonna go a little further with this, because if you think a child abuse victim, even a character, needs to prove themselves ‘worthy of forgiveness’ to deserve a better ending than the crap Nomura dished out on Vanitas, you can stop following me. Right now. Immediately. Thanks.

This is a Saix hate account grgrrrgr
honestly imagine if anyone in this fandom held any of the organization members accountable for how they treated xion, saix especially given he literally emotionally abused her most of her life but hey
