Have you ever read any of Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol comic book stuff? I think it's so weird and overlooked
Is it overlooked? Isn't there a recent TV adaptation of it? I'd agree that it's not as big as Avengers or whatever, but frankly anything that's *smart* tends to be a little more niche and not-for-everybody, and that kind of makes it special, not to be such a snob. But no, I never read it, it's a personal failing. My exposure to the British Invasion is kind of spotty to be honest; I read a lot of Preacher and Transmetropolitan, not very much Hellblazer for some reason, I forget what else. I read From Hell and V and Watchmen, naturally, but I never forgave Alan Moore for Lost Girls, what an obnoxious piece of shit! The major Grant Morrison title I read (setting aside little random things like We3 and some Seven Soldiers stuff) was The Invisibles, which I was really hot and cold on. It's a great repository for Morrison's amateur pop culture scholarship and it is written with a kind of infectious passion, but I felt like if the premise is "the stifling forces of order and conformity vs. the liberating forces of rebellion and anarchy", that gets kind of sabotaged by the fact that the chaos agents still have to be represented as cliches and stereotypes for them to be legible to the reader. Like a true non-conformist wouldn't just look exactly like Johnny Rotten or whoever, a real rebel wouldn't be so straight-from-central-casting. So there's kind of a big flaw in the basic conceit, because in order to have archetypal resonance, you have to default to preordained cookie cutter images (in this case of flappers and mods and harlequins and stuff), which is the opposite of the whole idea of the winds of change and the triumph of individuality and everything.
I'm sorry, this is totally not what you asked, I'm just riffing now. I have every reason to believe Doom Patrol is really great! Maybe I'll get around to it some day, but I haven't read a superhero comic in a long time. The last time I read them really devotedly was in a time before irony, to be frank, and sometimes I find modern titles a little too *knowing*, like a little too smug and proudly self-aware at the expense of having an engrossing narrative with convincing characters. (And if the only alternative is soapy fetishistic bullshit of the Joss Whedon variety then I am REALLY not about it) It's funny because I have this memory of reading Grant Morrison's Marvel Boy miniseries that was drawn by J.G. Jones when it first came out and I was a teenager, and it blew my mind so hard! I thought Jones was everything, I would have done anything to be able to draw like him, and it didn't hurt that I knew somebody who was friends with him and I got to visit his studio once and it was probably pretty obvious that I immediately fell in love with him. But that Marvel Boy series had a bit of a meta, post-modern quality to it, which at the time wasn't so common and I found it really excitingly intelligent--so I raved about it to this friend of mine, one of my best friends in high school who was slightly older and who I looked up to in some ways, and he just sneered and spat something about how it's fucked up that comics aren't this innocent thing for kids anymore, and he refused to do more than glance at the pages of this very slick, adult book that I loved and wanted to share with him. And I mean now that everything feels like its saturated with this juvenile sense of irony, I kind of get where he was coming from! Even though I still think he was being a dick to me at the time, because in hindsight I've realized how our friendship was a total one-way street and he would say this stuff to me about how I was "still a mystery" to him and he'd make it sound like he was anxious to get to know the Real Me, but if I let him in on anything he didn't directly relate to in a personal way then he wouldn't even tolerate a conversation about it. Ahem. This is also not part of your question at all. But now you know! My sincerest apologies.

Love, Death + Robots : Volume 2
The animation and the CGI were even better than volume 1. Incredible!
And I didn't expect so many "happy ending" this time.
But still, where is the love in all of this?
Review by episode :
Automated Customer Service (2x01) : the animation and the story were amazing. I felt so sorry for the fish as for the cushion (the details were excellent). Love this California's house as the vaccubot. The pooper scoopers were excellent too. The last shot shown us a last sunset, fitting for the town's name. There is also a reference to Meat Dept in the show as he is the director for the episode.
Ice (2x02) : The ice whales were beautiful. It's the resentment of one brother over the other, because he isn't "modded", but finally the young brother faked his injury to help his older brother. Ice is also the reference to the drugs seen during the episode.
Pop Squad (2x03) : the first minutes of the show was terrible, when Briggs killed those two innocent children. However, I really love this idea of immortality! The animation was incredible. But I didn't understand how a woman can become pregnant when they are immortal? Why the children cannot take the place of the parents once they are mortal again? What if an immortal adopt a child? Both Alice and Briggs are complicit with this system. Also, the shop "Ipswich collectibles" can be found in this episode and in the last one.
Snow in the Desert (2x04) : Incredible CGI. I wasn't expecting this happy ending. I liked also this immortality going on with Snow, it's a type of world building, where this new type of pheromone produce a different type of sperm. OR who is this mysterious "Toxin"? The details with the strawberries or the lock on the drinks. The details with the Marchant Boris or Pentle, the synth. Question: Can snow produce baby with his special sperm?
The Tall Grass (2x05) : the animation was good. Of course, he needed to wander into danger. I wasn't expecting this happy ending too. The episode was the representation of changing time letting people behind. The animation was made by the Canadian studio called "Axis Studios".
All Through the House (2x06) : The animation was very well and I really liked the twist, as what would happened if we weren't good? haha.
Life Hutch (2x07) : The only episode with an actual actor, which is none than Michael B. Jordan. I liked the tension of the episode and the effect made on the hand. Another happy ending.
The Drowned Giant (2x08) : Amazing animation again. The story is actually a book by J.G Ballard (who wrote Crash), which his name was featured on the butcher shop. But so many question remained: Where does the giant come from? From the sea? The voice of the narrator is so smooth (by Steven Pacey), at first I though it was the voice of David Attemborough. The narrator is maybe the giant in itself. The story is also the story of our own humanity, we fade away and leave the memory of those left behind. It was like a philosophical entree.
Some quotes :
"- Well, it's Vacuubot's house now. We suggest you run." (2x01)
"- "Different." That's what the grownups say, but they mean "better". (2x02)
"- So not having kids seems a small price to pay for getting to live forever." (Alice) - Well, we can't keep letting people into this party if no one ever leaves" (Briggs - 2x03)
"- Why do you do it? Why do people like you keep having these kids? (Briggs) - Why? Because I'm not so in love with myself that I just want to live forever and ever. I've been alive 218 years. I've seen... too much. But she makes everything new." (Eve - 2x03)
"- Listen...I've never killed anyone who didn't try to kill me first, so just move one. (Snow) - I mean you no harm. Unless harm is meant." (Pentle - 2x04)
"- What would have happened if we weren't... good?" (2x06)
"- What I found so fascinating was partly his immense scale, of course, but above all, it was simply the categorical fact of his existence. Prolonged immersion in seawater and the tumefaction of his tissues had given the face a less youthful look. His features now had an appearance of well-fed maturity, hinting at the growing corruption to come. This was the beginning of his surrender to that all-demanding system of time, in which the rest of humanity found itself. In the end, his face had been transformed into a mask of exhaustion and helplessness. Caught in that same twisting whirlpool for which all our finite lives are destined. And his suffering was made all the more tragic by the isolation in which he endured it. Cast like an abandoned ship upon the empty shore." (Steven - 2x08)

Love this blog. Do you girls know if J.G is still married?!
There’s been no news of a divorce. We have heard a rumor that he was seen without a ring at New York Comic Con, but there is no way to confirm any of that speculation. So, unless he publicly releases information on this note, I’d say it better to assume that he is still married to Cassia Streb.
So the brief answer is “yes” until we hear from a reliable source that it is anything otherwise.

Any advice for feeling like an imposter in queer spaces? I'm grayace, but my passing privilege is so high, I feel like I don't really have a right to queer spaces.
Hi Anon,
Always remember, you are NOT an imposter. You are allowed to be in queer spaces, you are allowed to be welcomed in queer spaces, you are allowed to be active in queer spaces. Don’t fall for the “passing privilege” trap. You have a right to be in queer spaces if you want to be.
Like I said, don’t let the “passing privileges” scare you out of a place where you can feel comfortable and be yourself. That’s their M.O. They want to scare you, make you feel like you don’t belong, make you feel unsafe, make you feel like an imposter, make you feel unworthy, but you are not. Do not fall for their false rhetoric. Aces have become the new target for this. Aces are not the only ones hit with the “passing privilege” excuse. Bisexuals and pansexuals have all been targets of this negativity as well. It’s a tired tactic and it’s wrong.
Who you date, whatever gender you date, does not determine your orientations. You may be in a “heterosexual” relationship, but that does not mean it’s a reflection of your orientation. Dating someone does not change your orientation, remember that. Your orientation is the same regardless of your actions and who you are dating. You decide your orientation, not who you are dating.
And don’t forget how you felt before you found out that you were grayace. You probably felt a little different from your peers. That difference is enough to make you queer. That difference is enough to make you be a part of queer spaces and participate in them. Don’t let the negativity bring you down. There are many queer spaces that are most welcoming towards aces, gray-aces, and acespec people. They will happily let you into queer spaces and let you participate.
Don’t you worry, Anon. You are not an imposter, you never could. Never forget that you belong in queer spaces. You are different from other people. Who you date does not change that. You belong. If you feel safe enough to participate an be within a queer space, then you are more than welcome too. And don’t forget, you have your own Ace Community right here for you. If you ever need to talk feel free to message us anytime.

Hey! So I am gray-ace but lately I've been struggling with my romantic attraction. I know I am romantically attracted to men but the past few months I've discovered that I might also have an interest for girls but due to my lack of sexual attraction I am afraid that I might be wrong or something... but one time in a bar there was a girl and I kinda git a warm feeling in my stomach and I kinda wanted to kiss her... I am confused 😅 is bi-gray-ace a thing?
The bi-gray-ace anon again: also, I am afraid that this is only in my imagination. I don’t know… I just needed to tell someone.
Hey Anon,
Don’t you worry, this is totally a thing. And, yes, bi-gray-ace is definitely real! You can identify that way if you want to and it would be completely valid.
It’s good that you have your sexual attraction figured out and it’s okay if you still have not completely figured out your romantic one yet. It’s also perfectly fine if you are completely confused. This is natural when you are trying to figure yourself out.
It’s also perfectly fine to fancy the idea of being with someone, but not actually be attracted. It’s also okay if you were romantically attracted to someone just once in your lifetime and never attracted to that gender ever again. Remember, attractions are involuntary. When they happen they will happen. It’s out of your control and they can be weird at times. These situations happen to a lot of people.
Don’t let the fear of an attraction prevent you from actually feeling and understanding your attraction. I know that it can be scary, especially if it’s something that you are not used to feeling, but go with it. Following your feelings and really listen to what your feelings are saying. Let them help guide you as you try to navigate yourself.
The fact that you saw a girl and got a warm feeling in your stomach and wanted to kiss her does sound like romantic attraction to me. But try to keep working on your attractions. Remember, attraction is going to be different from desires and even interests. You can desire to do something and be with someone in a certain way, but that does not mean that you are attracted to them. And you can have interests in being with someone and doing things with someone, but that does not mean you are attracted to them. It’s tricky in confusing, but I promise, the more you work at the the more you will be able to notice and identify your feelings.
Also try working on your other attractions including sensual, aesthetic, and alterous. This can help you too.
Sensual attraction is when you are drawn to someone in a physical way. This means that you want to be physically close to them. You want to hold hands, cuddle, or hug them, maybe even kiss them.
Aesthetic attraction is when you drawn to someone because of their beauty. But your thoughts and feelings don’t go beyond thinking someone is attractive looking.
Alterous attraction is a little difficult to describe, but you know that you are attracted to a person, but you are not sure how. You know that you want to be with this person, but you are not sure what type of relationship that you want. You just want to be close to this person and you really like this person.
What you experienced does sound like romantic attraction considering it happened suddenly upon seeing the girl. The fact that you are thinking about being with girls does not have to necessarily mean you are attracted to them, but have a interest or desire to be with them. Which, it’s perfectly fine to want to people with people, but not attracted to them. On the other hand, maybe it was one time thing, who knows? If it does happen again then, yes, you could very well be biromantic and gray-ace, but if it doesn’t and you still think you might want to be with a girl you can still be bi-gray-ace as well.
I am biromantic and graysexual. I am romantically attracted to men and women. However, there are many people in the ace and are community who will use other labels such as bi- to describe who they are interested in dating even if they don’t feel attraction towards them.
You hang in there, Anon. It’s possible for attractions and orientations to change. So don’t stress to much about it. Keep working on your attractions to figure them out; it’s not easy, but you will get there. Whether this was a one time thing or you are romantically attracted to girls and are starting to realize it, either way bi-gray-ace would still be an acceptable and valid way for you to identify. The final decision is always yours, go with what makes you most comfortable. If you need any help or need any clarification or elaboration on anything feel free to message us anytime.

It’s okay if it takes you a long time to find an orientation label that works for you. Don’t feel bad if other people have found an identifier before you did. Everyone’s journey is different and discovering yourself is not always easy; sometimes it can take time. If it takes you days, weeks, months, or years, that’s okay. If it takes multiple different labels and you bounce back-and-forth a lot between them, that’s okay. It’s your journey and you will get through it and find a label that you like. Give yourself all the time that you need.
