Appearance and Personality
Appearance: Shirrira has a average and petite female body build but that's apart of her beauty figure. She has long and elegant bright white hair which it glows in the dark whenever she's in the dorm but only in dark places that she couldn't handle. She has powder blue eyes which they look mesmerizing to look at but when change and glow into glidden white when using her willow abilities. Shirrira is a young lady whose beauty cannot be ignored but she tends to be a little nervous around others.
Appearance: Born as the youngest child and only daughter in her large family, located in the enchantress side of the forest in the land of wisteriana, Shirrira's past life as a child was a little bit sheltered till her mother had let her to explore the forest of the land.
Despite the shelter hood she had when she was a young child, whenever her duties and training sessions are over despite how long they were, she would now explore from any tallest tree to tree in any part of the forest, the excitement in her has never stops till now.
The current Shirrira we are seeing is one of the beautiful and elegant girls in the school campus, her appearance is something that no one can even look away from within a slight second if she's around the hallways. She now hides her hobbies from others, especially that involves her exploring the forests through parkour to the very tallest trees that could get her to fall a bit from time to time.
But she has a good soul if she can brush her nervousness aside not wanting to create any slight awkwardness or anything weird but she often stutters a little if she causes a slip up. Needless to say, she can be calm after relaxing herself a bit of necessary.
A great and best cinnamon roll if you get close to her slowly on time. Despite her busy schedule as a forest whisperling and including her hopes on getting stronger would keep her busy, but she can spare some time for you spend with eventually and Shirrira doesn't lie about it at all.
But alas, you better not cause something that might get her a bit on guard. Shirrira is friendly but would be a little cautiously on you depends on vary situations, either way an act would be brought up eventually. She has a choice to make and of course for either right doings.
This beautiful girl is something... If only she had knew about her real purpose and role to herself.
__________________________________________
Trivia
-The name 'Shirrira' is often strong personalities who have this name. Energetic, charismatic, ambitious and focused. While her surname 'Kimana' is a girl's name of Native American origin meaning "butterfly".
-She's based on Ori (From the Ori Game Series) and the Blue Ember (From the Last Campfire Game)
-She's the only one who can interact with Casimir and Cattleya, to surprise and shock everyone. But the three didn't mind it at all thanks to their connections with the other races.
-She's often seen with her two cousins and her uncle around campus. More fully her uncle is her mentor for her training sessions.
-She's mostly curious on the half-myths thanks to their past connections. But she's more fully interested in Freya, Haruki, and Sasuke but does have the courage to interact with them.
-Apparently she had somewhat can hold rather rare willow powers at age eight, which made her into the chosen light willow spirit holder. Which Shirrira doesn't know about it at all. But her family had decided to tell her when the time comes.
-Shirrira voice is rather soft and gentle but she can raise it high whenever she gets angry. Which is why I chose Mami Uchida to be her voice actor.
-Not knowing about her being the chosen light willow, but she does see some spirit butterflies and a soft voice of a woman...
-She hates the darkness due to the war that her family had participated as a child.
-Apparently prior before HSA she and her cousins meet rather an interesting team of four friends in the past. Currently she might have forgotten about then but still remembers them a little.
-Seems to be the pro at communicating with the forest spirits in the dorm.
-She's good at the bonding ceremony in the dorm, which her dorm mates had thanked her for it.

Hello Hello fellow Juniors.
Welcome to the official the Quest Girls. JR Tumblr account.
My name is Velenie, the mod/owner of this blog/series. Some of you have probably already heard of me here and there from my sister's blog @thequestgirls or @thenamesaria .
This is technically my version of the series, where the girls' little sisters will be the characters :)
Yes, there are also 8 main characters here.
Bendyna (Wendy's little sister)
Fluffy (surprise girl's little sister)
Killer (Lina and Devlina's little sister)
Wolfina (Wolfia's little sister)
Olivia (Shira's little sister)
Lovely (Akira's little sister)
Fluffy Kitty (Fluffy Cat's little sister)
Angelica (no one's little sister)
There are more characters here, but these are the main. For now, my sister will be the one drawing most of the time. I might draw here and there, but it will mostly be my sister for now until I can get used to drawing in digital and have a decent artstyle. Ask box and submissions are open btw, so you can already start asking :)
That's all for now juniors. Enjoy your stay :)

tell me your favorite things about your ocs? 👉👈 if you're feeling it of course
hi anon thank you I love you. I think my favorite thing about my ocs is that they're (almost) all such little polyamorous sluts and by favorite I mean "why am I like this" (I am like this because I like all the npcs and don't like to pick and choose between them)
I will always be deeply overly attached to the ocs from my first playthrough of a game (sulina mahariel, tabitha hawke, shirae lavellan, roxene shepard, casper ryder) and I think they end up with a special kind of nuance that comes from their character evolving as the story unfolds around them? it's an energy that's hard to recapture when I revisit the game's storyline later with additional ocs
I think (aside from sulina who is my one and only beloved sweetheart) my favorite ocs are juniper hawke and ellaran and it's literally just bc they are such fucking disasters. they're awful and that's their best quality. junie was NOT supposed to be my canon hawke she was just supposed to look pretty while I playtested some mods but she's SO mean and funny I can't deny her anything.
when it comes to the characters I've elected to be my primary canon protags (sulina, juniper, kataara adaar, roxene, casper) I think universally one of their best character traits, and one I admire a lot, is that they're all very active and driven personalities. sulina and roxene in particular deal with mental health struggles as well (partly sublimated from my own) so that they work through it to still kick ass? v. cool of them. and then they get therapy! neato!
hmmm. let's see who else.
gwendolen cousland is just so fucking gender. nonbinary lesbian king of ferelden and of my heart (and the hearts of fereldens everywhere. they adore him)
rozi brosca and eydis aeducan my favorite thing actually is how well they play off of each other once I dropped them both in the same timeline. I wasn't expecting it! especially I think because rozi brosca is so driven by concern for other individuals and eydis is so driven by pure selfishness. they really conflict a lot and both grow a lot from the experience. sisters <3
rafael tabris I think it is very cool that he is so short and his boyfriends are so tall. lmfao no idk I just think he is such a funky lil dude. he's probably my favorite to explore in different au situations. why? who knows. no matter the situation he keeps ending up with a kid. I don't plan it and neither does he. kids just happen in his presence. cryptid energy tbh
tabitha hawke and alden trevelyan are just sooooooo gay and stupid. love that for them.

//I feel like he’d be more hurt than angry. Maybe pre gronder Dimitri would react with anger, but now? Not so much//
// Ah yep! And as you can see, that's the reaction I went with for him. (at least, I think the ask went up by now. probably.) Academy!Dimitri is a little more, I dunno, self righteous doesn't seem like the right word for it but it's what I have. He's definitely more idealistic, and switching sides like how CF!Sylvain does would anger him a lot more than his older counterpart. That's not to say that war/post-canon!Dimitri isn't hurt, he very much is, but I think he's more accepting of Sylvain's choice here because he's seen a lot more of the world and the gray morality of it. The world isn’t as black and white anymore to him, and that is a pretty big factor in this. Or at least I would like to think so. Though I think pre-redemption arc!Dimitiri would definitely be angry as well, livid even. He’s hurting badly in more ways than one, and he’s very defensive as a result, so his responses are a lot more volatile. I guess what I'm trying to say here is that I agree with you, Dimitri would act differently at different points in his life because his mindset changes throughout it.

what are some things I shld be careful of when writing jewish-coded magical characters? One of them is a romani jewish necromancer and the other is a russian jewish ice-magic witch. Their universes dont have western christianity, only judaism, islam & eastern orthodox christianity. Magic is normal and widespread and considered part of nature. Are there any stereotypes i shld be aware of avoiding when writing them? especially since the necromancer is meant to be morally grey (but def not evil)?
Witches: Romani Jewish Necromancer, Russian Jewish ice-magic witch
From a Romani perspective, a necromancer would be problematic as most Romani people have very strict traditions and superstitions regarding death and the dead. A Romani person with any ties to their culture would never be a necromancer; additionally, making them morally grey is a bit concerning to me as this is dangerously close to stereotypical.
-Mod Tess
One thing you will need to decide is if your ice mage’s powers come from secular magic or from, like, prayers. I chose to go with secular magic in my fantasy series because the most important magical character is sometimes morally gray while the totally nonmagical protagonist (Queen Shulamit) is fairly moral and devout. But there is also Jewish folklore where magic is being used by a rabbi to do holy things, so that’s really a writing decision on your part. Since you also have a morally gray character doing magic, you may want to go the same route I did.
There is probably Talmud and stuff about necromancy (it’s probably forbidden but I am not familiar myself and I’m hoping one of the other Jewish mods will know. The ice mage will be easier to handle as far as representation. I’d say with Jewish witches avoid any connection with the Western image of the witch with the exaggeratedly hooked nose, avoid the idea that kids (especially gentile kids) are an ingredient in her portions, and avoid magic that somehow invokes pop Christianity/demonology aesthetically.
Here’s an older post of mine about writing Jewish witches: Jewish Witch Characters
-- Shira
I agree that the ice mage is the easier answer: the only other example I can think of of Jewish representation in fantasy with regard to ice magic is Naomi Novik’s Spinning Silver, which is a masterpiece of positive Eastern-European Jewish fantasy representation and also doesn’t on its own constitute a representational trend.
As far as the other character, I’m not sufficiently educated on Romani culture to understand how and in what ways it would mix with Jewish culture for any individual, and it looks like Tess is advising against that aspect of their background, so let’s just talk about necromancy and Jewishness.
As is often the case when discussing practices we now consider to be magic, attitudes toward necromancy in Jewish writings are all over the map.
Torah forbids it outright. Talmud restricts that prohibition to certain methods and situations. Medieval writers have opinions on methodology, while historical folk practice has a variety of practical suggestions. Welcome to the history of the Jews.
Necromancy in the sources I was able to find for this answer seems to refer to questioning the dead, a form of fortune-telling or advice-seeking. I didn’t find any mentions of animating the dead for tasks other than conversation. If your Jewish necromancer has other uses for corpses, you’re going to have to extrapolate.
In Torah, the prohibitions on consulting spirits and mediums come as part of longer lists, alongside cultural-identity laws like observing shabbat, banned religious practices such as human sacrifice and self-harm, and societal norms such as deference to elders and fairness to immigrants. Scripture clearly has no doubt that necromancy works, however, since it makes much of King Saul’s hypocrisy when he consults a medium after making the practice illegal and driving its practitioners out of his borders or into secrecy: the ghost himself has harsh words for the king and offers no comfort.
The Talmud mentions a variety of examples of people consulting the dead, whether invoking a spiritual apparition or reanimating a corpse to consult with. In medieval writings, there’s an argument that being called to the living world is a hardship for the dead, and that the reason for the prohibition is out of compassion. Medieval literature also offers gleanings such as that the deceased can only be interrogated within the first year, after which the soul is no longer within reach, and that the dead observe shabbat and therefore cannot be invoked between Friday evening and Saturday night. This last one raises the fascinating question of what time zone is it in the World to Come, but that’s a Talmud-style question for another day. Interestingly, the Talmud does specify that humans don’t have jurisdiction to punish necromancers: that offense is between the individual and God.
The upshot of all this seems to be that your morally-gray Jewish necromancer is transgressing a Jewish law by practicing their skills, but that the transgression is not more severe than more mundane transgressions such as eating pork or shellfish, except in that it is unpleasant for the deceased.
In a Jewish context, the word for the soul or animating spirit of a human is the same as the word for breath. If your character’s necromancy doesn’t restore the deceased’s consciousness, maybe all of the above is irrelevant, and the sin they’re guilty of instead is desecration of a corpse; since the character is intentionally dark, having them wonder which category of sin they are committing would be a valid dialogue choice.
As always, I would warn you against having your Jewish character commit murder themselves, especially of a child, consume blood in any context, or act with a motivation of xenophobia or greed for wealth or power. A morally-gray Jewish character with a complex relationship to their Jewishness can have the potential to be interesting, but not if they reinforce existing negative portrayals.
I hope this small-scale tour of Jewish writing and thought on the subject has helped you imagine how your Jewish characters might approach the relationship between their abilities and their backgrounds, and that you had fun following me on this journey. Good luck!

hey so im kinda confused about some of the stuff u have on here about lilith. another blog that was active years ago littledoomwitch had a jewish mod who said that the ben shira wasnt something to be taken seriously and lilith as a first wife of adam isnt accurate. they thought it was weird for goy to worship/work with her since she's. ykno. a baby killer and whatnot but as long as it wasnt in the girlboss lilith way it was okay to work with her, and that theres possibilities of her or a version of her being pre judaic but its kinda on the more iffy side. so ive been working with her for the more...infertility? reason and other more spiritual reasons im not comfortable sharing on anon/someone i dont kno since its very important to me, but now im confused as i dont want to overstep boundaries but ive heard conflicting opinions
Howdy hey!
Jews naturally aren't a monolith, but I wouldn't say I've seen many people agree with that mod's opinion. Dewiccaning her is certainly more respectful but I don't know why it would make her less closed, you know? She's still a specifically Jewish figure even without the Ben Sira, that's a very popular midrash but certainly not the only one.
As for any pre-Judaic origins, she has some notable connections to the lilit/u, a Sumerian class of spirit, but that's different from Singular Lilith. I think that if people want to work with the lilit, then just work with the lilit and treat Lilith as a separate closed entity.
No worries on keeping parts of your path private, that's fine. ^^ Based on what you've shared here though, if you're not Jewish then it would still be considered appropriation sadly, at least in my eyes. The one exception would be if a Jewish person personally chose to share stuff with you specifically.

Intro post?
I keep meaning to make a good pinned post for this blog that includes links to find your way around my stuff, and I keep putting it off, so here's a slightly messy index for now.
Jewish holiday colors post. This began as a guide for fan artists wanting to draw Jewish characters with more depth or accuracy than just popping a blue santa hat on their head in a Christmas scene, but it also includes some basic info on how each holiday is celebrated, which ones are considered "major" or "minor" holidays, and whether it would be okay to schedule a workplace conflict on that day.
Jewish representation in fiction. This turned out to be a whole genre of posts because once I answered the one a couple of people had follow-up questions. I mostly stopped getting these when I joined the mod team on Writing With Color because that's exactly the type of question we address over there. I'll include posts from WWC that I contributed to, both before and after joining the team, that speak to this topic.
The WWC post I responded to that kicked off this series was about a Jewish family in an urban fantasy setting adopting a non-Jewish teenager with a similar type of magic. This post led directly to me actually remembering to submit our adoption ritual on RitualWell, a site that collects contemporary Jewish rituals.
Since I mentioned being a Jewish educator in that post, I had the opportunity to give some thoughts about how to name a Jewish-coded culture in second-world fantasy, and in the notes we also got into how Jewish representation functions differently in second-world fantasy versus portal or urban fantasy settings.
The same setting also prompted questions about Jewish head coverings, which led both to some notes on what constitutes a synagogue building and the history and complex development of Jewish contemporary gender expectations.
This anon had follow-up questions, this time prompting a discussion about what it would actually look like, in a practical sense, to code a community in a second-world fantasy setting as unequivocally Jewish.
WWC ask regarding queer Jewish characters - this talked about assumptions people make about what "Orthodox" and "secular" mean in Judaism if they haven't experienced it themselves, with respect to queerness but also general Jewish practice.
WWC ask regarding Jewish characters at a certain well-known magical boarding school - includes a disclaimer strongly opposing the extreme bigoted beliefs of the creator, focuses instead on how to think about the details in creating a young Jewish character.
WWC ask regarding a Jewish character in an underground organization - in which we explored how one can write a plot incorporating a trope often played in antisemitic ways without upholding the antisemitic connections.
WWC ask regarding a Jewish character reconnecting with his heritage while struggling with other parts of his life - this one resonated with readers in a way I didn't expect, since the steps I suggested the character could be shown taking to reconnect with his Jewish identity were also steps people could take in their real lives. We jokingly referred to it as the "color of the post" because it has a bunch of different sections.
WWC ask regarding a character losing his humanity in a Jewish neighborhood - in an unusual move, we advised the writer that the simplest solution was to not make the character Jewish.
WWC ask regarding Jewish naming conventions for superheroes - that which we call a Rosen by any other name...yeah, okay.
WWC asks regarding fantasy worlds with confirmed, active gods - this post includes the religion-in-fantasy-worldbuilding alignment chart.
Another WWC ask following up on that one, in which Shira and I reflect a little more on what it means to have a world with magic and religion.
WWC ask on an overlapping topic, this time from a Jewish writer looking to center cultural authenticity for a Jewish, Afrolatine character in a portal fantasy setting. While with non-Jewish writers the conversation centers around ways inserting Jewishness as an antidote to whitewashed fantasy norms can backfire if the world is set up to support a conflicting theology as "true," this ask opened a conversation about how to center Jewishness in a fantasy setting, either through real-world Jewish practice or fantastical Jewish flavor. I wish we had more input to speak to the Afrolatine angle on this one but on the whole it was a great extension of this topic.
WWC ask exploring whether anthropomorphic dragons fall into the "lizard-people" trope - this led to a deeper exploration of character design elements linked with negative Jewish coding in male characters, and what makes a character, especially a villain, ring as Jewish-coded.
WWC ask about nonhuman Jews: can a tree-person be Jewish, and what is up with non-Jews using the word "Goyim" for themselves (and if you've got to use it, at least use it right).
While we're on the topic of nonhumans, WWC ask about angels (short answer, it's complicated? But not spiritually meaningful. 2J3O.)
What if the Jews lived?
To Pearl, from Gladys is an exploration of a Jewish cookbook my aunt gave me from my grandmother's things. An inscription indicates that a friend of my grandmother's gave her the book in 1945 as an apology for losing her umbrella. I don't know who Gladys was or how much use my grandmother actually got out of the book, but it charms me. The tag #to Pearl from Gladys has a few other posts about this book.
Poem about the same grandmother. This is a rather heavy poem with themes around Yom Kippur, memory, and death of a loved one, so please note content warnings for death/decline of a family member, Alzheimer's disease, and a self-accusing tone that might not be right for those who need to be gentler with their own souls.
This exchange where I tangented off on some events from a recent Zoom class while worrying that I was inappropriately derailing someone's post, and ended up helping create something that comforted OP, many readers, and even myself.
The Four Children of Passover, rewritten by the same Zoom class from the Moses lesson. Contains a similar poignant warmth.
This response to someone feeling badly about not being able to fast on Yom Kippur. This was an ask not directed at me, but I felt I had some words of comfort I could offer to this anon or others in a similar situation.
Response to a question to the jumblr community about language I prefer for talking about God.
That time an Instacart shopper did not buy milk. That was a thing that happened.
Squash Blossom Taco Friday, now with recipe.
Anything I'm OP on or contributed significantly to should be tagged #Meir makes stuff.
The cats are tagged as follows:
Margo (black cat, died spring 2022): #Margo the cat
Cooper (Orange and white cat, huge): #Cosmodoop
Daisy (Chonky brown tabby): #Daisy would like to know
Penina (New addition, gray and white kitten): #Penina the cat
If there's something I forgot that you think deserves to be in here let me know!

there's a post going around about how you chose your dragon age oc names? anyway, I talk too much
~~elves~~
Sulina Mahariel Sabrae - derived from the elvish words suledin "endure"/sulevin "purpose" and the suffix -lin "blood." Sulina was my first dragon age oc and like many of my wardens I just gave her the first random name that popped into my head at the character creation screen, and then decided I hated it and gave her a better one later. I believe her name started as Canneia, but after playing the game I wanted her name to better match existing dalish names so I changed it to Candria. But the /k/ phoneme is just not present in elven words and names so I completely renamed her and took the opportunity to craft a name that is just a little bit too on the nose.
Shirae Istimaethoriel Lavellan - derived from the elvish shiral "journey" (with inspiration from the name of clan Sabrae). this one I actually came up with in advance before the game shipped, and I think this is around the same time I surveyed canonical elven names/words and renamed most of my earlier ocs too. keeper Deshanna Istimaethoriel Lavellan is her grandmother.
Rafael (Surana/Tabris) - Raf started out in the Surana origin, but I borrowed his headmorph to test a mod for the Tabris origin and that spun off into a Tabris AU that I got so attached to that I made it canon. similar to the canon dalish names Josmael/Rajmael (and I doubt it's coincidental that there are similar-sounding Hebrew names irl). Raf named himself after a dalish man his parents met once and told him stories about - when he was Surana origin, he saved one of Raf's parents from a bandit attack on the road when they were traveling between alienages to marry. I haven't decided yet if Adaia or Cyrion met him under different circumstances now that he's Tabris origin.
Ellaran - a dalish warden oc. at one point I'm pretty sure I came up with a reverse etymology for this name (hella "struggle" and ...?) but in truth this is really just the one remaining name that lives in my head and "sounds elven" and I'm pretty sure it's just a mashup of the tolkien names Elladan and Elrohir. whatever, it sounds fine.
Rowan - a half-elven warden mage oc. she was raised by her single mother in the gwaren alienage before being taken to kinloch hold and momma named her after Queen Rowan.
~~dwarves~~
Eydis Aeducan - started life as Olenka, I believe. when I renamed most of my wardens I tried naming her Agathe at first (based on the similarity to agate) but I ended up making her swap with my Cadash bc I felt the names fit better the other way around. eydis wasn't chosen for the meaning or anything, just the sound. I tend to generally favor nordic names when I have to name dwarves idk.
Rozi Brosca - started life as Brasi until I came to my senses and realized that Brasi Brosca sounded absurd. Rozi is just the spelling of Rosie I liked best for her. I think her name and her sister's name sound kind of aspirational? Rica and Rozi - riches and roses. does anyone else feel like some wardens probably shouldn't have surnames, Brosca included? oh well.
Agathe Cadash - see Eydis, above
Evender "Rumour" Cadash - idk I think this name just ~sounded right.~ I liked the default name Edric but I didn't want to use the default name Edric. and m'boy m'lad needed a cool nickname to strike fear into the hearts of his foes. or. into the hearts of those poor chumps whose kneecaps he was paid to bust, anyway.
~~qunari~~
Kataara Adaar - derived from the qunlat words katara "die"/katari "one who brings death" but more importantly, yes, she was named after katara "avatar the last airbender" watertribe. I saw the word katara on the qunlat word list and I was like "oh im naming her after katara watertribe and nobody can stop me"
Vaati Adaar - kat's daughter. derived from the qunlat word vat "fire" and yes I do like the "aa" found in some qunlat words too much and add it to every name it's a problem I just think it's neat
Taashath - kat's ex/vaati's dad. I didn't add the "aa" this time it was already there! just a qunlat word that means "calm" bc he's a chill dude
~~humans~~
aw jeez ah man too many of these mfers. incredibly rude of these mfers for there to be so many of them.
Gwendolen Elethea Cousland - wanted a celtic name to match Fergus. named after her faceclaim, Gwendoline Christie. middle name comes from one of her alamarri ancestors. gwen and spiro are I think the only two origins ocs who never needed to be renamed bc it took me so long to get around to actually making human origins ocs that I already knew the names of everyone in their families by then so I could select them with intention.
Spiro Amell - so I don't like to use the default names for my ocs but I do sometimes like to use them for inspiration and/or reuse them for other family members. the canonical amell family names are kind of all over the place but I decided to go with mostly vaguely greek/hebrew names (see: aristide and revka amell). so, dad is Andreas and the kiddos are Solona, Daylen, Spiro, Deborah, and Delilah. yes, i alliterated sue me. I could rename the default name kiddos but lbr I won't
Tabitha Grace Hawke - Tabitha was chosen to match bethany in the "biblical names on the slightly obscure side" category. and then I gave her a middle name bc leandra is at heart still a fancy lady even if she is also an irrepressible wild child.
Juniper Hawke - idk I just thought of this name and banked it for the next time I started a new hawke playthrough. she was never supposed to be promoted to canon over tabby but she's just so gd funny. I've since learned that juniper is an extremely trendy baby name rn so apparently I just caught the baby name brainworms in the air.
Alden Ewald Reinaldo Trevelyan - the default names maxwell and evelyn are both very english and have "el" in them so that was the rough theme for the baby name site jam session. half brothers Maxwell and Daniel, sisters Evelyn and Velda, Alden, and twin sister Amelia. originally I went with the name Anselm but I experienced severe buyer's remorse almost immediately and renamed him to something I liked better and that sounded less like a kingdom hearts villain. the other names in the family (father August, grandmother Magnolia, stepmother Oswin, mother Irene, and uncle Cassio Castida) are all just "sure that sounds fine" names that hit vaguely within the right naming tradition. oh! and the middle names. one for his free marcher side and one for his antivan side.
Amelia Trevelyan - speaking of Amelia, she's been through so many (so many) renames. I think I started with Felicia? hated it. then tried a few variants of Emmeline/Ameline but, christ, if the similarity to Evangeline/Aveline doesn't kill those names for me. so! right now it's Amelia! and I'll change it again! no middle names for her until she cooperates and manifests a name I actually like.
Finnola Magnolia Trevelyan - oh and the only Trevelyan cousin I care about. can't remember how/when I chose the name. but it's related to her dead name - she went by Finn prior to transitioning after which point she prefers the nn Nola instead. both given and middle names were family names and she wanted to keep family names after transitioning. grandma Bann Magnolia Trevelyan gave her blessing to take her name for her middle name.
~~mass effect~~
bonus round bc why not!
Roxene Shepard - the name on her save file is just Roxy and I SWEAR to CHRIST she's NOT named after a homestuck she's named after a homestuck it was the first thing that popped into my head when I booted up the game look it was 2007 it was a different time. later I came back to beef it up and make it sound more like a sci fi name and less like a chicago showtune. yes, her parents names are Hannah and John and most people in the future are named things like Ashley and David. you know why her name is Roxene and not something normal? because hannah and john shepard were fucking unhinged that's why. had a breakthrough moment several years later when I realized her nickname could be Xena warrior princess.
Deonna Shepard - same thing. named her Diana after wonder woman. first thing that popped into my head. started out at warrior princess that time rather than working my way around to it over the course of several years. went back later to make it fancier bc I can.
Polaris Ryder - I asked myself, before andromeda came out, if it would be too corny and on the nose to name my pathfinder after the north star and then I decided it was and then I did it anyway. you know why? bc ellen and alec ryder are also unhinged. my ellen ryder and hannah shepard are cousins so they clearly shared their baby name brainworms while brainstorming with each other.
Casper Ryder - needed a similarly unhinged name for the twin, obv. I think I started at Cassiopeia and then worked my way over to casper the friendly ghost from there. you know what, it fits him tho.
