Much of the content of GC3 is defined in editable XML files that can be changed or added to by user created mods. Mods are placed in the DocumentsMy GamesGalCiv3Mods folder for the base game, or in the DocumentsMy GamesGC3CrusadeMods folder for the Crusade and Intrigue expansions.
An ExampleMod folder is created in the Mods folder for you the first time you run the game to show the expected folder structure of a mod.
What your plans for mods in the future for GalCiv III? As I mentioned above, I would like to do the Federation ships from the new Star Trek Discovery show. I also plan to do more custom ships that are not Star Trek related at all. I am toying with the idea of doing a. Minor Races which are 'assembled' as themes such as Star Trek (ready to use) & Super-Heroes, etc. GalCiv2TwilightMods 3. Galactic Civilizations, Galactic Civilizations: Altarian Prophecy, Galactic Civilizations Deluxe, Galactic Civilizations 2: Dread Lords, Galactic Civilizations 2 Gold, Galactic Civilizations 2: Dark. Galactic Civilizations 3 - German Gameplay. This feature is not available right now. Please try again later.
Each mod is placed in its own folder in the Mods folder. Within a mod's folder you will find (or create, if you're writing a mod) five folders:
Campaigns
Core
Game
ParticleScriptDefs

Each of these folders corresponds to a folder in the game's file structure (steamappscommonGalactic Civilizations IIIdata or steamappscommonGalactic Civilizations IIIDLCEXP2_Crusade). Files that a mod replaces or that add content to a base file are placed in the folder with the same name as that file in the game's file structure. For example, ImprovementDefs.xml (which defines all the improvements that may be built on a planet) is found in the Game folder in Steam file structure, so any mod that changes it or adds new improvements to it would be in the Game folder of the mod's folder).
Not all of these folders are required. If any of these folders in a mod is empty it may be omitted.
Unzip the mod if it is compressed and place it in the Mods folder. You must start a new game to see a mod's effects. When a new game is started GC3 reads all the XML, processes it, and stores it in your saved game. Thus any changes to the XML are not seen until a new game is started.
Many mods have posts describing them in the GC3 Modding section of the GC3 forums. Some of these can be downloaded from links in the posts, others have external links for downloads.
There are also a number of mods available on the Nexus mods website.
In order to either write cheats or use other console commands you first have to enable the debug console by adding the -cheatlaunch option to GalCiv's executable file.
Once done, open the console with the default tilde(~) key, the key can be changed in input options. If the console has opened, type help to see a full list of the commands. For information on specific commands type help <command>.

i’ve been reading @taylor-ruth‘s blog on and off for years and the art she posts is always super inspiring...idk she feels like a cool distant cousin (a corny way of putting it but w/e)
