Do you think it's weird that MH G1 "music" theme doll lines neither Operetta and Holt

Think about it...

2013: Music Festival: Venus, Clawdeen, Draculaura, Clawd and Abbey

Before I continue... I know you gonna say:

What about 2015: Boo York Line...

True ( Operetta's outfit is more suitable for tourists and she doesn't have much role in the movie aside post credit scene)

But what about Holt?

After the Halloween disaster, he doesn't get to travel as well. He could help Catty with her music or something.

I know its absurd but I have a theory: The only reason Operetta was included in Boo York's line is that her dad is one of the most famous musicals in history meanwhile Jackson/Holt's grandfather only made a decent musical: Jekyll and Hyde 1990

2016: Fierce Rockers: Venus, Jinafire , Clawdeen, Catty and  Toralei

At this point in time MH got 2nd reboot and only brought Operetta back in webisodes and TV specials.

2016: Music Class:  Cleo and Ari Hauntington

This year in Monster high G3: There gonna realize Monster Fest line which is their version Music Fest

So far its confirm: Frankie , Cleo, Clawdeen, Lagoona and Draculaura

I dunno know if Toralei Meowlody & Purrsephone or Catty Noire will join later

Still no signs of G3 Operetta or Jackson/Holt

Who knows maybe both will appear later this year or next. Only time will tell.

TLDR: It's weird for me that neither Operetta and Holt appear in doll lines concerts or music-related activities.

Salty Comic Review #1: Eeveelution Squad

[DISCLAIMER: PLEASE DO NOT ATTACK OR HARASS ANYONE MENTIONED IN THIS REVIEW]

Introduction

Eeveelution squad is a DeviantArt comic made by EV-Zero, previously known as PKM-150 which started in 2016 and ended in 2021. This comic was very popular gaining a dedicated fanbase, with many fandubs, art, fanfiction and even fan songs! I know I personally enjoyed it back when I was young, so it holds a lot of nostalgia for me. The author started a reboot of the series but quickly abandoned it, since he was understandably burnt out after working on the comic for 5 years.

Review

As much as this pains me to say, this comic is NOT good. For one, the characters are very basic. I did not care for any of them in the slightest. This problem only gets worse when later in the comic there are way more characters introduced and all of them have the combined personality of a slice of bread. Because most of the characters in the story are eevees or eeveelutions, it becomes difficult to tell them apart at some points. The characters are written in such a way that they don't feel like actual people at all. The best way to describe the writing of this story is, person watches too much anime and shoves every annoying anime trope possible into their story. Many "senpai"s and "baka"s are dropped and it reminds me of those cringey anime kids in high school. The worst offender of this is Glaceon, who has a running bit of harming Jolteon when he does absoloutely nothing wrong. I shouldn't have to say why this is bad. Though this might be partially my personal preference, I hated all of the romances which ranged from vaguely abusive to boring as plaster. If you want to reread the comic for nostalgia purposes, only read the first few chapters, once you get to the special chapters, just stop reading. This comic was such a painful read of 1020 pages, not even including all the extra content. The lore of this story is so unnecessarily complex for a story about which elemental dog is going to smooch who. I could not tell you a single thing about all the lore in this story except there are evil shadow monsters and parallel universes. The lore isn't even important at all to the story. The most irritating thing is that at one point it just starts alternating these long ass exposition dumps inbetween the actual story. The Eeveelution Squad was enjoyed by so many people because it was cute and simple, if it had kept to slice of life it would still be cringey but it would be bearable. But having all this lore literally nobody cares about and pages of long ass textboxes it just not going to work with the kind of story ES is. But no, it had to be dragged out for an unbearably long time because fuck you!

@drake-the-highlander @alexcanine @kingnice1219 @jaysmily2919 I decided besides just doing a story of my sona Adean changing into a dragon at will I would make another story about Adean that’s only a human but has a dragon animal companion named Jade which this won’t be your stereotypical dragon story like HTTYD or Pete’s Dragon which Toothless eventually has to leave Hiccup to go live in the hidden world of Dragons with his mate Light Fury while Elliott left Pete to go help out another kid in distress and that Pete has a real tragic story in the original 1977 version he was abused a lot while in the 2016 remake he was lost and alone till he met Elliot but even Elliot was harmed just as much as Pete while Toothless and Hiccup left to live their own lives while this is a Pokemon kind of story inspired by Ash and Pikachu’s human animal relationship where they are together forever which I want for my sona Adean and her dragon companion Jade to be together forever till the end of time and that my story about Adean and Jade would be inspired after my real life experience growing up as a kid and teenager and even till now and that Adean and Jade grew up together like sisters and of course Adean’s sister Kristy has her animal companion Halloween who is a living black cat hand puppet which is different for my anthromorphic black cat character Grey because Halloween is a living hand puppet black cat character and I think adding Pokemon characters as well as some Digimon characters into my life inspired story about my sona Adean and her dragon companion Jade would be fun to add into my stories like someday I like to add my sona Adean and her dragon Jade into my soon to get Nintendo Switch game Disney Dreamlight Valley with my sona Adean in that game being with different Disney characters along with her dragon Jade in that game soon but I feel like writing a story series based after my real life experience would be more easy to write about then just writing about my sona Adean changing into a dragon at will although I’ll still imagine her as a werewolf like from Wolfwalkers or even design a big monsterous werewolf in a part of my series too although it will be part original and part fanon because I don’t only get my ideas from my real life experiences but the franchises I had experiences with growing up like Disney, werewolves, Jurassic Park/World, Pokemon and Digimon although not the Digimon adventure reboot but the Digimon series I remember growing up watching on fox kids Saturday morning tv so I’m thinking of doing stuff inspired after my real life experiences more then stuff that came out later like Brand New Animals and Kipo and The Age of the Wonderbeasts and somewhat My Little Pony since I actually got into MLP after my senior year in high school so I have less life experience with MLP then the other stuff although I still love MLP even though it was after my childhood and teen years. I’m looking to put together information about glue head in Mattel’s dolls from 2006 to the 2016 reboot. Specifically if some dolls or price points were exempt. The reason being that it’s increasingly hard to get information more than a decade old out of google. Please boost and add any information or links you have.

Obviously we know about Monster High G1 but do we know which dolls are exempt (other than Create a Monster obvs)? Basics Jane Boolittle has been glue free the 3 times I’ve had her in hand, does that extend to her other dolls?

A few days ago I got out Mattel-Disney Tiana for the beehive tutorial and she had glue head that was treated within a few hours. Does that extend to all Disney princesses by Mattel (ie: a bunch of Rapunzels)

I assume all the articulated Fashionistas have glue head as they were playline but does that include the swapping styles heads and Ken? I think Barbie Basics is affected but all of them? The collector Landmarks? Twilight? Toy Story? So in Style?

Let’s not revise history clawdeen has always been lightskinned. Lightwashing her further isn’t okay but you can’t tell me clawdeen wolf is a dark skinned black girl. I would love it if she was but she’s not

Also I do think people need to appreciate g3 I’d the first time she’s ever been played by a black woman her og voice actor was white which is So Racist. A white woman putting on a fake blaccent to portray a sassy black girl? Die.

Now, who said she was darkskin? all we've been talking about is the act of making her lighter than she used to be and I think its weird that you're put off and sooo hung up at the thought of people implying that clawdeen was darkskin. why is there so much disdain that you had rush and say 'she was never darkskin 🙄' all because people said.... they've made her lighter?

the live action movie had her being portrayed by a racially ambiguous actress and the reboot dolls have lightened her EVEN MORE. and knowing that a lot of what was in the movie was carried over to the lore of the show and dolls proves that clawdeen is supposed to be lighter than she has been in the past

and people thinking clawdeen was darkskin is justified when in the movies she was darker than some of the dolls they produced for her.

and you're right it is a good thing that clawdeen is finally voiced by a black woman but what people mean by 'lightskin-ifaction' is now that her skin is lighter her entire personality has changed that matches the idea that all lightskin girls are soft and delicate while darker skinned black girls are aggressive and rude and sassy. why couldn't she be darker and be shy and nerdy?

I just want to clarify i am very happy she is finally being called black and I don't hate clawdeen as character, but I am criticising mattel.

and monster high fans who are upset at the colourism have every right to brush this off, this isn't something petty like not liking the clothes the dolls are in like other fans are complaining about people should not have to accept acts of antiblackness just because they finally admit clawdeen is black (even though she is technically biracial which is even more colourist because they're really looking for a reason for clawdeen to be lighter.... how can a werewolf be half human half werewolf when THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE 😭)

You know what, I changed my mind.

Like a lot of people I was Not a fan of the new monster high reboot. I didn’t like a lot of the creative decisions, some of the new designs fell flat, and I just wanted the original ghouls back.

But all of that pales in comparison to the sheer childlike joy I felt today actually finding the new dolls in stores. Every time I’ve been in a store like ToysRus since like 2016 I’d always check the doll isle just hoping to see Monster High dolls lining the shelves like when I was little, and actually finding MH dolls in store today just made me so happy! I didn’t even buy any (40$ is a lot after all), but I was beaming for hours afterwards!

I’m no longer anticipating G3 with only dread, and I look forward to how the franchise will continue to make kids and adults alike happy!

i’m actually really excited for the monster high animated series…like we don’t talk about the live action but it looks super fun and a pretty solid comeback from the flop era that was 2016.

even though as a reboot, most characters won’t be true to the original material (lagoona my beloved), the original web series and movies are still there.

i want to see how monster high grows from here and how they deal with the changes from the source material.

Why Kids’ Shows Have Become Terrible Over The Years

I remember watching Disney Junior on late school nights. The commercials, the theme songs that get stuck in your head…yep, I was obsessed. But lately, like all the reviews, say children’s shows have fallen from grace- like, ALL the way down. Most TV kid's shows have become unoriginal, and most don’t even teach children anything. Lots of money has been lost by many companies trying to feature programs that the “kids are into these days-“and for good reason. Three good reasons, to be exact: which we’ll go over right now.

Part One: Repetitive Programming

As I covered in the introduction paragraph, kids' TV ratings and stocks (??) have been going down a lot. One of the reasons why is because they’re so BORING. So, you might’ve heard that a lot of reboots have been popping up in the last few years (I’m looking at YOU, Disney). And most of these shows have been marketed toward children in the form of shows and movies. For example, back in like 2010, there was a line of dolls called Monster High. They had their own Youtube series and everything. Around 2016, the company making this franchise decided to discontinue the Monster High line and look for other ways to make money. And while I was switching through the TV channels, guess what I found? So, the company making Monster High decided, 6 YEARS later, to make a live-action Monster High reboot. They COMPLETELY changed the main cast of characters to make them look more “modern”. And let me just say, they FAILED. MISERABLY. Search them up for yourselves. Need I say more? Every character’s original aesthetic, personality, and story arc are THROWN out the window like nothing. I hope Nickelodeon is happy. Just NEUTERED. And it’s not only brands like these getting remade and rebooted. Carmen Sandiego, Blue’s Clues, The Powerpuff Girls…the list goes on and on and on. And since more shows keep getting rebooted, the quality of these shows keeps declining. The ideas and storytelling are so unoriginal. I could easily come up with a tv show plot in like 1 hour (I could try). For example, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. This show was a big success for PBS back in the 2010s, but the thing is it also happens to be a reboot! It is very rare for a reboot to be successful.  But it’s not exactly teaching kids the right things.

Part Two: Lies

Ok, before I start to say anything, Daniel Tiger and the company that owns it have not done anything wrong (that I know of). So, what have they done wrong, you ask? Well, it’s most likely what they are broadcasting to children. In the show, there’s never anything going wrong. It’s all peaceful and cheery. In one of the episodes, Daniel Tiger and his friends are at school (it looked like a preschool, but I believe Daniel is over the age of 4-5, so it’s probably a kindergarten). The episode in question was tackling having control over their feelings. My main problem with episodes like these is that there are never any examples of strong emotions. In most of the episodes, they sing a little song that has the life lesson of the main episode in mind. The song in this episode indicates that it’s not ok to hurt someone just because you’re angry. My main problem with this is that it would be most likely that a child wouldn’t know that. And for some reason, every time characters are arguing they never hurt each other in any way, with usually the teacher dissolving the fight or the characters stopping themselves before inflicting pain onto the fellow student. This is what is messed up because this is not how the world works. They are teaching the children at home that nothing bad will ever happen to them, they will always have friends to support them, and that everyone will be friendly with them. I understand that these are young children and one of the most well-known shows on kids' television can’t just straight-up show violence, but do you think it would be better if the kids found out themselves? Shows like these need to show what the real world is like and show children the hard truth of society, because it is SO much different from the real world. I don’t want children watching some show where everything is a happy-go-lucky paradise and thinking this is how the world works. I have a little brother that watches this show. I’m worried that he might think this is what reality is like and learn the hard way. I’m tired of kids’ shows dumbing down real-life problems. It is going to make the kids at home think it’s not that big of a deal. And there might also be kids with disorders(like ADHD and autism) that make them think that there could be something wrong with them. At first, this might not be much of a problem (unless your kid is a die-hard Paw Patrol fan) but when you start to look a little closer, you will notice some creepy details. Have you ever noticed that in kids’ shows some conflicts and problems would take half a second to solve in the real world? Is there a reason for all these problems being solved by the heroes (they are usually kids) so quickly? No, seriously; is there THAT MUCH of a deal if your clothes don’t fit or your friend won't share the bouncy ball with you? I suspect that there is something else going on beneath the surface, but that is a conspiracy for another day. Let us move on to the next reason.

Part Three: Hungry For Relevance

To me, it always seems that companies are looking for “the hottest trends”. They are always trying to be unique within their programming or collaborating with studios to make it seem special. This rarely works. What makes something special doesn’t have to be big, shiny, or extraordinary (you’ve heard something like that in every Christmas special EVER, but no matter). Case in point: Sprout (aka Universal Kids). I used to love watching Sprout when I was around 4 or 5, more than Disney Junior. They had so many cool ideas to spice up their programming. I loved the natural feel they gave their shows, nothing forced or too extra. You could call their production studios and they would feature your child’s birthday on TV on your child’s special day. That is what I call COMMITMENT! And even if you didn’t get your name called out you could still look forward to your favorite shows! The Goodnight Show is a name that will live on in kids' tv history. Sprout is truly a fantastic tv channel. Or…at least it was a fantastic tv channel. Back in 2017, they got bought out by NBCUniversal (hence the name Universal Kids) and they changed EVERYTHING. They completely ruined the natural vibe that Sprout was going for. They added spinoff no-one's-ever-heard-of Dreamworks shows, the cookie-cutout main character shows, and worst of all, Cocomelon (in case you have been living under Dwayne the Rock Johnson, Cocomelon is a painfully unoriginal show that took over YouTube in 2018.) They even had AUDACITY to include segments promoting the new branding. I kid you not, one of the segments included a kid saying, “Universal Kids is coming to Sprout, and that’s okay.”  And to that I was like,” No, it is not okay. NO, it is not ok that you take away the preschool channel I BINGE WATCHED away from me in an instant.” There was even a petition made by angry parents to keep Sprout the same as it was. That is enough proof to prove how amazing Sprout is. But who cares about other people’s opinions, amirite, Twitter (sarcasm)? As of now, there are like 2 or 3 shows on the network. The only way that the company is staying afloat is because of Cocomelon, I am not even joking. I’m tired of companies trying to appeal to kids with trends. Instead of doing that they should try to just take in the aesthetic of their company and run with it. If PBS did it back in 2005, so can the other competitors. I rest my case.

Conclusion

In this essay, I covered the downfall of kids’ shows or just the kids’ entertainment industry altogether. The main problems I covered are that they are repetitive (or just straight-up old shows that made money before with new coats of paint thrown on), they sugarcoat their lessons WAY too often, and more often or not, there’s no charm or originality in their programs. Now don’t get me wrong, there are still some good shows by good people on the air today (Bluey, Hilda, Kid Cosmic, etc.) but it’s a bit of a rarity. So how should they fix this? The first would be to produce original ideas for their shows. Being original can help you stand out against competitors, as I mentioned with Sprout. The second strategy would be to double down with real-world topics. This benefits because it saves parents from explaining and kids will be aware of how the world works. The third one would be to spice up their shows. Adding just the slightest amount of charm can help kids get used to programming.

Monster High the Movie Review Part 1

A kind soul sent me the Monster High movie to review and I have some....thoughts. This WILL contain spoilers! So proceed with caution.

As your humble blogger I promise to give this movie a fair chance, I won’t blow it off because it’s Live Action or because it’s “new”… Monster High was all about celebrating differences, this means being open minded when presented with something unexpected. They change A LOT in this movie… some changes are good, some are not. I will do my best to contain my biases (undying love for G1 and raw seething hatred for G2) let’s GO!

The movie starts with some unknown person absolutely shredding at the local skate park they get bumped & fall and we see it's Clawdeen! once the humans see she's a wolf they chase her off saying how scary she was and that she "wasn't a girl, that's an animal!" she goes home to sulk and we learn it's her 15th birthday!

In this movie Clawdeen is half human. "But Jess! aren't ALL werewolves half human!?" Yes, yes they are... but in THIS movie monsterdom seems to be treated like ethnic heritage. We meet Clawdeens father! Apollo the human. Already I'm liking this set up a lot more than the Reboot (G2), she lives in a house instead of a cave, it's not crawling with puppies... This bodes well for the Relaunch*.

( * = I will be referring to 2016 as the Reboot and 2022 as the Relaunch to differentiate them with the 2010 debut series as the OG)

Clawdeen is the main character of this movie, which I think is pretty cool! Frankie had the reins for the OG run and Draculaura headed the Reboot (RIP Draculaura) so it's nice to see someone new take the lead! Clawdeen always has been leader of the pack!

However things fall apart right away as we learn that Clawdeen's father is making her a "Tofu & Jalapeño casserole with almonds" .... Why is Clawdeen.... a wolf and known carnivore getting tofu for her birthday dinner and not a steak? EXPLAIN!? A character eating tofu in media is usually shorthand for them being vegetarian, I hope that’s not what they are implying because a vegetarian diet will kill a wolf/dog.

Another implication that I don’t like is Clawdeen being an only child. Do you know how much Monster High falls apart if you remove the wolf pack!?!?! It’s POSSIBLE she’s not. We don’t know where her mom is (it’s implied she’s dead but first rule of Sci-Fi is no body = no death) so more kids could possibly, theoretically, maybe, be with her. I’m not holding out any hope, I’m just saying it’s possible. I'll even settle for them being her cousins.

Anyway.

Monster High is only accessible via a secret portal and you must now be accepted into Monster High with a letter carried by Gargoyle VS it just being a public school for monsters.

SO the school itself is alive, it is a monster! it's also a dorm, which is not AS fun as the OG school but a lot more practical than the Reboot which had them living in a refurbished mansion.

Ceci Balagot didn't even audition for the role of Frankie, they just showed up to set and smiled and Mattel's casting director was like "that's our Frankie!" then someone on set was like "Ceci Balagot can't be Frankie! he's trans and non-binary!" and then the director was like "WELL THEN I guess Frankies non-binary now huh!?" and that is how we got our Non-binary simulacrum queen. Trust me, I was there.*

This version of Frankie isn't just made up of random body parts, she is made up of famous bodies and brains! her mind alone includes the likes of Einstein, Madam Curie, Plato and Elizabeth J. Feinler. How is she still in high school with body parts from grown ass adults? IDK but she looks like & has the mind of a teenager so we’re going to go with it!

Nayah Damasen as Draulaura is perfect casting, she's cute with just a hint of pedigree. Anyone mad that she's Filipina is getting hung up on the wrong things. "But Draculaura is Romanian! not Asian!!!!" First off, Romania is a location. There can be Filipino people born and raised in Romania. I'm confident half of you reading this are from America... are you Native American?... no?... then how are you American!? See how stupid that sounds. (also: Shout out to the like 4 Native followers I have, I got'chu!) Being angry that Draculaura isn't white is the most ridiculous BS you could possibly get mad over in a movie attempting to relaunch our beloved franchise. She’s adorable… she does however threaten to suck out Frankie & Clawdeen’s blood which… I’m not sure if it’s an empty threat or if she is no longer vegetarian. But if it’s the latter? I hate it.

Update: it is an empty threat, in Draculaura's music video she clearly states she is a vegetarian.

Frankie you can't just go into a vampires coffin! that's... rude? ... Invasive? I don't know what etiquette Vampires use for their coffins but Frankies question of "Do you view this as a house? or a bed?" was flippin' funny.

Everything that comes out of Frankies mouth is hilarious. They’re a curious little kitty! I also really like that they gave them mis-matched eye shadow to match Frankie’s Heterochromia! new fav! Ceci put their all into this role! their stilted movements really drive home the point that Frankie is new and not all parts cooperate well. *chefs kiss*

It's pretty obvious from my profile that I am a fan of Monster High. I used to watch it ever since I was a child and now that Nickelodeon wants to do a reboot of it everyone is talking about it. But why so much hate?

I will be honest, I don't like this reboot just like I didn't like the 2016 one. The originals are the originals. But what makes those reboots be so hated? I saw many comments on instagram talking about the redesigns, people hating the most the new versions of Clawdeen, Cleo, Lagoona and Heath and how many things make no sense, like Draculaura wanting to learn witchcraft that is apparently forbidden.

This other person posted on instagram an explanation on how this new reboot is about Monster High but it's not the same world and that's why things are so different. But my personal opinion is, if Nickelodeon wanted to take the idea of Monster High but change it as they please, they might as well rename it and change the names of the characters completely and say they just got inspired. It's obvious people are going to compare it to the original since the story is exactly the same just the characters' designs changed and the backstories.

But why don't we go after each character since I have something to say about each one we've seen so far:

Frankie Stein

The animated design is not so bad, and that is true. My personal problem is how she was in the live action, no offence to the actress, I just think they failed in her looks. The backstory fairly enough is the exact same, and personally the they/them pronouns don't bother me at all, it doesn't sound like something that scandalous and it's pretty nice that the LGBTQ+ comunity is starting to be normalized.

Overall, not the worst reboot, still sad they changed her/them so much in looks even if the base is the same

Clawdeen Wolf

I will say it right away, the actress is beautiful, how she was dressed in the live action is not. I do not like anything about this new Clawdeen. They didn't do a 180 to her, but they were close enough. They managed to change Clawdeen from a strong, sassy girlboss to this geeky half normie werewolf and I can see that many people are sad and offended because of this.

So first of all why make her so geeky and clumsy looking? I heard the opinion of someone from the internet saying that they saw the curly hair and the cute redesign of 2016 and thought "Gives off gamer vibes", as funny as that sounds I'm afraid that's actually the logic behind this design. Also the backstory is just something else

Ok so I'm guessing Jackson-Holt is not going to be a character in the reboot just like Casta is either inexistant or in prison.

Draculaura

No.

She's not the worst, the redesign isn't necesserely bad. It's just not Draculaura much. If it wasn't for the black-pink combo, I would've never guessed she was Draculaura. Now a thing that might be influenced by my ethnic background but as I'll talk about it later, I might as well say it now: for some characters, the actors were chosen based on the nationality of the character, I feel like this reboot deleted Draculaura's connection to Transylvania/Romania and it's kind of sad. She is Dracula's daughter after all, isn't she? I heard some people's excuses saying "But she isn't his biological daughter". That does not change the fact that we know Draculaura still comes from Romania. Maybe being Romanian isn't all that important for her character but it was part of her identity and I think it's unfair to change any possible character to a different nationality/ethnicity/race no matter what.

Cleo De Nile

I heard quite the comments for this design. I don't hate it. It just doesn't give Cleo vibes much. I like the idea of darker skin, it really isn't a big deal. The outfit is actually pretty and I do believe it might be more culturally accurate. The colour palette is too Nefera though and that is something I don't personally like. What I read about her backstory, all in all she does sound the same much or less. Not the worst reboot in my personal opinion. But see how the actress is arab from what I'm seeing? They tried their best to make Cleo as egyptian as possible but they didn't do the same for Draculaura or Lagoona as I'll get to that soon.

Lagoona Blue

I hate her.

I'm sorry, I do. Her design, her character, they ruined her. She's suddently an ocean unicorn and despite the outfit that all in all in the animation doesn't seem that bad, they made her too girly, it's like she lost her sporty identity. Now my personal biggest question: why did they make her latina? Why did they change her, why isn't she australian anymore? Yeah, Draculaura lost her romanian identity, Lagoona basically switched from australian to latina and for what exactly? I do believe southamericans deserve rappresentation, everyone does and some more than others, but that does not give the right to take away certain rappresenation and change a character especially since there are Monster High characters that rappresent latinos already. Nationality rappresentation is still a thing and it's sad australians don't have their Lagoona anymore in my opinion and I'm not even nearly australian, it's just like how I feel about Draculaura, changing someone's ethnicity/race for me is unacceptable in any case unless it's your own original character.

It wasn't hard to give the same backstory to Lagoona where she grew up underwater mainly and barely knows how's it like to live on land and let her still be australian. Or is it just me?

Toralei Stripe

This must be the least bad redesign in this reboot. The style is almost the same at the end of the day and the vibes seem the same too. The only thing that ruined her is her background. Why is she suddently rich and elite? It's not the worst idea but I just don't think it suits her. I actually don't have much to say about her after this.

Deuce Gorgon

I will be honest, not that bad either. To me this still looks like Deuce despite the green skin. And no offence to the actor but he did look better in the live action than he does in the picture. The backstory seems fairly Deuce enough I just don't get why they gave more personality and power to his hair than to him. Also something I didn't mention earlier so I shall mention now;

Why, just why- did they ship Deuce with freaking Clawdeen?

Out of all the ships they could've made, they just HAD to ruin one of the main ships from the original version.

Heath Burns

I genuinely believe they have something against Heath. What the hell is wrong with his hair? What is that cursed thing? I don't think I even need to explain why the design is offensive to the original Heath. The fact that he's now greek doesn't change much to me, I honestly don't know what was his original nationality, I have this feeling he was american and in this case changing him wasn't the worst even if I still don't agree with changing nationalities. But the design is just horrible.

Headmistress Bloodgood

This design is actually cute. Kinda lost the scary but I don't have much to say to this. I don't know the original nationality of Bloodgood either so I actually don't know if to hate or actually like the diversity even if Monster High has always been diverse from every point aside for body size.

We've been shown more characters but these 9 are the ones we've seen the most so far. But anywho, how do you like those reboots? So far all cartoons that had one just went downhill. Do you think it would've been for the best if the essence of the characters was stayed put or do you actually consider the og MH and the 2022 reboot two different stories? I think it's for the best if I do so too. Also I highly doubt I'll be able to see the film or the cartoon regardless but if I do I WILL be judging the smallest shit ever.

gen 1 came out in 2010

gen 2 (first reboot) was in 2016-17 and was... not good lol

gen 3 (second reboot) is what's happening now

let it be known that in regards to my monster high movie opinions, my experience with the franchise/previous generations is, er... light? not exactly in-line with the rest of the fandom?

like, i think i saw one of the 2d specials on tv as a kid. i read all the lisi harrison books (i was a huge lisi fan as a tween so i ate those books up), and i watched the 2016-17 reboot films (they were conveniently on netflix for a while). i never watched all the movies and webisodes that most of the fandom views as canon, so i guess you can call me an outsider to the real fandom. 

so when i say i liked the live-action movie, that’s where i’m coming from. i’m not super attached to previous versions of the characters like everyone else. so, i have a more open mind when it comes to this new generation of the franchise.

Incoming monster high rant!!! This will be multiple parts but the new monster high is so terrible and we need to address it multiple times. Starting off with my favorite character draculaura. There are so many things wrong with her in the new reboot. Like I don’t even understand why they didn’t stop during 2016, draculaura is so ugly now 🤦🏽‍♀️. She used to be so cute and so many things just are wrong. First off in the live action they made her a sorceress😐. Her name is DRACULAURA the daughter of DRACULA, she’s a vampire, why change what she is. Second off her live action outfit is horrible and besides her pink skin and split dye she barely has any pink. She wears more black now. Third, her pigtails and Romanian accent are gone . Once again she’s a vampire that accent is KNOWN why would they get rid of it. She doesn’t even seem bubbly in the new movie she seems more serious when the main reason I love her is because of her bubbly attitude and that she loves animals and the color pink.
