( Leaf-Fall ) Moon 22 - Glitch

Quail'Tuft padded through the territory, a trail of Apprentices behind him as he made his way outside to where he would train them. That was the plan at least, lately they haven't exactly been wanting to do so..

Quail'Tuft huffed, feeling like this would just end in failure aswell. Oh well, he should atleast TRY to train his Apprentices unlike his former mentor. So he lowered his head to the ground to track where they should be going.

Before his nostrils were hit with an unexpected though familiar scent.

His fur stood on end, opening his maw to confirm what the scent was before closing it and lifting his head to look around, pausing in his tracks with a nervous flick of the tail.

The Apprentices he brought out stopped behind him, confused murmurs filling the air alongside the tension he felt as they discussed between themselves.

His eyes fixed on a greyish fox-like figure between the blades of grass, fur moving weirdly and rapid, a black subspace dripping from the pieces of fur that was drenched in it only to burn away at the already dying greenery underneath, the muzzle of the creature still stained with blood..

The blood of the one that had tried to help train him in his mentor's absence.

Quail'Tuft held his breath, swerving and quickly making his way through the area to try to get back to camp as quick as he could, the rushed pawsteps of the younger cats stumbling to get to moving again and catch up behind him aswell as the rustling of the grass he could only hope that it didn't see them as they made it back home.

Frozenleaf heard a rumor that Turtletooth is being a standy on the mingling with outsiders debate within the Clan and isn't much of a leader/good choice for deputy.

Green relationship bar!! Lightningstar (platonically) loves Splashfern! It's not quite mutual, but at least Splashfern has a significant platonic like bar for Lightningstar.

Glintspots was given dried herbs from Heatherheart, and is wearing them in her pelt!

A patrol that included Asterscratch, Heatherheart, and Splashfern ended up running into Nakeena, a kittypet, who they brought back to camp. She is sick, but as was the case with Mosaicspots, if she survives, she will be offered a full warrior name.

A patrol including Asterscratch, Splashfern, and Cypresstuft met a kittypet named Radar, who badly injured Splashfern's leg.

Glintspots and Podpelt went out to look for herbs, and ended up finding a wounded queen with newborn kits, who they brought back to the Clan. The Queen's name is Fogstripe, and her his kits are Cliffkit and Puddlekit! [Edit: I’m a dummy who didn’t notice Fogstripe was a trans guy, so his pronouns may be incorrect but they get fixed as soon as I notice next post. I’d fix it here but tbqh I am, myself, an exhausted trans guy and I simply do not have the patience or energy to comb through and see if I misgendered a randomly generated pixel cat on accident. At least not tonight.]

Also, Lightningstar and Heatherheart met a kittypet named Fuzz, who they invited to join the Clan! Lots of cats joining the Clan!!

And then, Fuzz, on his first patrol, before he got a new warrior name, found a kit all alone outside and brought him home. His name is Bubblekit!

Nakeena died of redcough without getting a warrior name. However, she did go to StarClan.

Speckleshine is all better though!

After six moons, Lightningstar has finally admitted to himself that, though he will always love Bloombrook, he needs to be willing to move on. He immediately got a stomach ache over that thought, so clearly the moving on is going well.

Piperkit is now Piperpaw, and being mentored by Lightningstar!

Mosaicspots had her pelt torn by BrightClan. Please, we do not need to be at war with ANOTHER Clan.

Asterscratch found a cat named Hawkflare from another Clan, and brought her back to LightningClan. Unfortunately, she has a broken jaw.

HEATHERHEART DID IT!! Speckleshine decided to step down and become and elder, and Lightningstar named Heatherheart his new deputy. She has achieved her goal!

Plus, Bubblekit aged up and became Bubblepaw, apprenticed to Heatherheart (who is REALLY feeling on top of the world right now).

And THEN Heatherheart was on a patrol with Lightningstar, Bubblepaw, Piperpaw, and Asterscratch, and they ran into some rogues, and Heatherheart singlehandedly made the rogues flee. True Heatherheart protagonist moment.

Mosaicspots met a loner named Bug who was skilled with herbs, and who brought her three kits to the Clan: Flutterkit, Jackdawkit, and Jaggedkit. Bug took on the Warrior name, Bugdapple.

Apparently Piperpaw had a dream from StarClan. There are enough medicine cats at the moment, but Podpelt is keeping an eye on that.

And we adopted ANOTHER ex-kittypet. This one was named Twist, and is now Willowtwist.

BrightClan took some of our territory! Presumably because we antagonized them but still that's very rude.

Hawkflare is all healed up, though I'm choosing to imagine that her jaw remains misaligned because it was broken before.

Flutterkit is apprenticed by Hawkflare and made Flutterpaw, Jackdawkit is now Jackdawpaw and apprenticed to Willowtwist, and Jaggedkit becomes Jaggedpaw and is apprenticed to Asterscratch.

Oh no, I just realized Jaggedpaw appears to have a significant scar on his paw/leg. I don't think that's what he was named for, as he's a tabby so I think the name probably refers to his pelt, but I do think he may have limited movement in that paw with the old injury.

Cypresstuft attempted to steal prey from BrightClan, but Heatherheart, being an EXCELLENT Deputy (seriously I love her so much) stepped in to stop her.

Splashfern was bitten in a scrap with BearClan along that border.

Podpelt, one of the medicine cats, slipped and dislocated a shoulder. Though Toadclaw did something similar, so maybe there was some bad frost one morning.

Cliffkit became Cliffpaw, mentored by Cypresstuft (not... the cat I would have ever picked to be a mentor, Lightningstar, but okay sure), and Puddlekit became Puddlepaw, mentored by Fogstripe, her own mother.

When she became an apprentice, Puddlepaw was excited by the prospect of hunting down a rabbit, or possibly a fox. Then, in that excitement on her first day out, she mistook a hare for a rabbit and had her eyes scratched as a result. She is in the medicine den now.

the only reason people say that "mafuyu and tsukasa have nothing in common" when presented with mafukasa parallels is because they equate mafuyu and tsukasa being similar to "tsukasa has depression" because the fandom equates mafuyu's personality to being depressed and nothing else.

it doesn't help that people (primarily younger people in the fandom) who DO believe in mafukasa parallels end up making the mistake of portraying tsukasa as depressed because as of right now he is not (although it's possible he was in past because of his Very Unclear Middle School Backstory but that's irrelevant)

anyways, mafuyu and tsukasa are narrative foils because their core personalities are built off of the concept of wanting to make the people around them— especially their families— happy.

they both developed personalities at a young age based on someone they looked up to. for tsukasa, it was seiichi amami's performance that inspired him to be a star— a hero that could cheer anyone up. for mafuyu, it was her mother taking care of her that inspired her to be a nurse— and you can see the similarities from there.

for mafuyu, her identity would first come into conflict when her mother expressed her want for mafuyu to be a doctor— suddenly, "everyone's" happiness didn't match what she wanted to do, leaving her in a state of disorder and eventual depression.

for tsukasa, his identity was something he nearly forgot in its entirety at the start of the main story— becoming arrogant and fully absorbed in a hero persona, forgetting the kind person he truly is. furthermore, his current character arc seems to be foreshadowing that what "being a star" to him is going to be called into question— maybe it is something more than just being the main character that saves everyone.

their insecurities are incredibly similar.

in mafuyu's first mixed, mafuyu feels insecure towards ichika because unlike ichika, she feels as if her lyrics have no genuine meaning to be expressed to other people— despite them being her very real feelings. this is brought up again in her second mixed as well.

in tsukasa's third focus event, something similar happens. when watching seiichi's performance, he thinks that his acting is "real" and feels inferior towards him, which is ironic because tsukasa has been method acting this whole time. when tsukasa is acting out rio or bartlett or really anyone at this point in the story, it's not just those characters— it's a reflection of his traumas.

just like mafuyu, tsukasa undermines his passions he's poured his feelings into because someone else's work is more genuine in his eyes.

now, then, foils have many similarities and parallels (and i could honestly list a lot more), but how i define them is that they usually have some kind of major branching difference that MAKES them foils.

for mafuyu and tsukasa it's pretty straightforward.

mafuyu's people pleasing behavior comes from external expectations and pressures— her mother's demands.

tsukasa's people pleasing behavior comes internally, from himself— if he can't meet his own standards, if he can't be the perfect big brother or the perfect star, then he is nothing.

and even then, there's some overlap.

tsukasa's behavior was indirectly encouraged by his mother praising him for being a "good big brother" over the phone instead of asking him if he was okay while home alone.

mafuyu's terrified to be herself around other people because she doesn't want to worry or bother them— she doesn't want to be a burden— and projects her mother's expectations onto them, not realizing that they would prefer the real mafuyu if they knew the truth.

and the concept of mafukasa being foils is most perfectly and blatantly portrayed in these two cards.

mafuyu, the marionette, sitting limp on the floor— puppeteered by her mother's demands and donning a mask to hide her true self.

tsukasa, the jester, standing above everything else— puppeteering silenced plushies— his feelings. he's not being completely honest with himself, and he doesn't even realize it.

mafuyu has cut her strings and ripped her mask in half. she has acknowledged her true feelings and expressed them to her mother, even if she had to run away in the end.

tsukasa has not yet cut his.

Patrols: The clan all goes out on patrol together and some of the cats start doubting Cinderspeckle’s ability as deputy, she preforms well and quells doubt
