Cat or dog person: I’m both, really. I have a dog and a cat and I really can’t see myself without one of them. I’m catdog person ♥

Favorite fictional character: How am I supposed to answer this. I have a lot of them, like a lot. Okay, Molly Hooper from BBC Sherlock for sure, I’ve loved her since forever. And Artemis Fowl II from the Artemis Fowl books. I love his character way too much - and the books. And Merlin from BBC Merlin, I love him to bits!

Favorite singer/band: Ouf. Mika, I really love Mika, he’s precious. A Fine Frenzy, she’s amazing. Taylor Swift because she’s talented and so strong. I love more but these are my favourites.

Dream job: I’ve always wanted to be a writer, I’ve been writing since I was six and I’m still not giving up on that! ;)

When was this blog created: My tumblr is veeeery old, I created it around 2010. Actually, just checked, my first post was made in August 2010. So yeah, still old

What made you decide to make a tumblr? It was something new and I remember that my cousin wanted to try it first, so I waited until she made it and told me about it. I just really liked the aesthetics on here but then I saw that I could actually explore different fandoms and enjoy everything I couldn’t enjoy outside the internet because I’m a fangirl and kind of alone in this “job” (outside the internet, I mean). Here I found a way to talk with other people about things I loved and it actually helped me a lot with different things.

Why did you pick your url: It’s basically my name written in a different way, it has a bit of French in it, I would say. I’ve always loved the Arthurian legends and the Merlin tv-show was one of the first thing I wanted to explore here and I was about to choose “morganelefay” as my url - don’t remember if it was already taken or if I just changed my mind. Anyway, I went for “morgane” with an ‘e’ more because I really loved it.

DAY 20 : " Morgane"

"Morgane, the enchantress with two faces".

Morgane is a recurring character of the Arthurian cycle that transcribes in the Middle Ages Celtic legends peddled by Welsh and Armorican storytellers and jugglers. She is nowadays often depicted with long ebony hair, lascivious forms and a dark spirit with treacherous tricks.

However, a very different portrait of her was told by the bishop and historian Geoffroi de Monmouth, first author to mention her in his poem of 1148: "The Life of Merlin". She is described as the Mistress of the paradisiac Apple Island, an enchantress excelling in the art of healing, helping Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.

Little by little her image is tarnished with Chretien de Troyes who makes her the sister of Arthur. Then in the 13th century, she sees herself adorned with an evil aura that makes her a real opponent to the actors of the quest for the Grail.

Fairy then "witch", incarnation of the divine feminine or rival of Merlin, another female character who suffered a lot ...

To illustrate the article I chose "The Cup of Love" Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1867). In the prose, Morgue brings to the court of the King a magical cup that can reveal the queen's infidelity.

Jour 20 : MORGANE

"Morgane, l'enchanteresse aux deux visages".

Morgane est un personnage récurent du cycle arthurien qui transcrit au Moyen-Âge des légendes celtiques colportées jadis par les conteurs et jongleurs gallois et armoricain. Elle est de nos jours souvent représentée avec des long cheveux d'ébène, des formes lascives et un esprit sombre aux ruses perfides.

Pourtant, un portrait bien different de celui-ci était dressé par l'évêque et historien Geoffroi de Monmouth, premier auteur à la mentionner dans son poème de 1148 : "La Vie de Merlin". Elle y est décrite comme la Maîtresse de la paradisiaque île des Pommiers, enchanteresse excellant dans l'art de guérir aidant Arthur et les chevaliers de la Table ronde.

Progressivement son image se ternit avec Chretien de Troyes qui en fait la soeur d'Arthur. Puis au XIII ème, elle se voit parée d'une aura maléfique qui en fait une véritable opposante aux acteurs de la quête du Graal.

Fée puis "sorcière", incarnation du féminin divin ou rivale de Merlin , encore un personnage féminin qui a beaucoup souffert...

Pour illustrer l'article j'ai choisi "La Coupe d'amour" de Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1867). Dans le Tristan en prose, Morgue porte à la cour du Roi une coupe magique pouvant révéler l'infidélité de la Reine.
