"Nurse Angel Ririka SOS" destroyed me emotionally. And the soundtrack slaps, especially Kanon’s theme

Before I go and finalize the magical girl quiz, I need to state it may take me some time before I begin on character entries again. I want to use the page for much more than that, though. I thought about also posting on IG and Twitter as well, but not too often. My daily schedule is so damn busy, but next week after work should free time should come up to do some page edits. Keep in mind the quiz I had published was more obscure magical girl media, but I can always make a more "introductory" quiz, AKA easier questions about the more popular shows.
As for the other ideas I want to get across:
-A chart for the genre explaining its subgenres (majokko, magical idols, magical girl warrior, etc), its influences, and adding recommendations. I feel this is need as what I mainly see online are either only recommendation charts, or blog posts detailing its history.
-A chart list of magical boys, just to compile them together. There's a lot less of them in the genre than girls, but in fact a bunch of them popped up in the 2000's and then dwindled out. Not too sure why, but probably due to a lot of those series ending and many still have not been republished in English or recieve anime remakes.
Tumblr media
-A post on disturbing magical girl episodes for Halloween (possibly.) There's some older draft of it that detailed a lot about Nurse Angel Ririka SOS (1995), but regardless it's outdated and I'd need to go back through multiple shows beforehand.
Tumblr media
I'd like for it to be published possibly before October 31st, but I also wanted to do another one but for shoujo titles instead. That means while some magical girl titles could be listed, it seems most will be related to scifi or romance titles. One I've definitely considered is Please Save My Earth (1984) because unless you're older or really into 80's shoujo you probably won't know what it is. I'd say to watch the 90's OVA, but it can be fairly hard to piece together what's going on if you haven't read the manga.
Tumblr media
-A chart detailing magical girl series outside of anime, but rather video games. If anything yoi see a lot of random ones pop up in sidescroll shooters and visual novels (adventure games), although some are in fighting games. Clara Hananokoji (Power Instinct 2) and Athena Asamiya are some earlier examples I can think of. With shooters you'd have to look more towards titles like Twinkle Star Sprites, though.

As for anything else, I will come back to make edits if need be. I'm preparing for work tomorrow, gonna really need to think about what to work on first for the page after that.

I’ve seen on a few tags from your reblogged posts that you don’t know who Nurse Angel Ririka is, so I’ll explain. I hope I’m not being pretentious.
Basically, Ririka is the titular magical girl from the 1995 anime Nurse Angel Ririka SOS. There was a manga too, but I prefer the anime, and barely anyone has even read the manga (outside of Japan). The anime, on the other hand, is really good! It’s got a bit of 90s cheese to it, but that’s fine, and the amount of cheese is still less than the 90s Sailor Moon anime.
The anime is about a girl named Ririka Moriya, a fourth grader who has recently turned ten. She has a crush on this new transfer student, Kanou, and he gives her a nurse cap for her birthday. This nurse cap allows her to transform into the legendary Nurse Angel. Kanou — whose actual name is Kanon — turns out to be from some alternate Earth called Queen Earth. Queen Earth was laid to waste by a group known as Dark Joker, and Dark Joker’s next target is Earth.
Sounds pretty simple, right? It does start out simple, but things get more complicated (and darker) as the story progresses. The Green Vaccine, which is Nurse Angel’s power source, is made from the Flower of Life. The Flower of Life is gone on Queen Earth, but it should be on Earth, too. However, the protagonists can’t seem to find any, and Ririka’s supply of Green Vaccine is steadily shrinking…
It’s also interesting to note that the Black Vaccine, the power source for Dark Joker, is also made from the Flower of Life.
The anime is fully fansubbed if you want to watch it! It’s still relatively obscure, but I really like it.
That sounds like a fun time, thanks for telling me about it!!
I'll add it to my 'things I want to watch that I'll hopefully get around to one day' list!
To be honest there was a lot of obscure magical girls I hadn't heard of with one submission each, so I picked a few of them based on designs and I liked Ririka's which is why she's in the bracket!

Moriya Ririka from Nurse Angel Ririka SOS
Ririka is given a magical nurse cap on her birthday which allows her to transform into Nurse Angel. She is given help from Kanon who comes from the planet Queen Earth, which has been devastated by an evil organisation named Dark Joker. She has to find the Flower of Life in order to save both Kanon's and her own planet.
A pretty standard entry into the mahou shoujo genre. The fact that the heroine uses vaccines to heal people is an interesting element.
