Sarkath didn't know Ghidorah ever died for a very long time. Why?

Due to [certain circumstances] one day they split up and went different ways. Astrohydras have it in their blood to navigate through space. Even though it hurt them to part ways with each other, they simply assumed it wouldn't be forever.

Sarkath lives his life and even manages to start a family. Meanwhile, Ghidorah lands on Earth and (still) dies by Godzilla's hand, but it's going to be different in my au than what happened in kotm.

It would be an end to Ghidorah and Sarkath's friendship... If the universe (me) didn't like our golden king so much.

Not knowing how much time has passed since his death - the next time Ghidorah opens his eyes, he's on another planet full of life (similar to Earth but not quite) and sees three pairs of blue eyes staring right at him.

He didn’t even tell her why he was stepping out, because he knew she wouldn’t take it well, and he’s not in the mood to argue when his parents are around. Not to mention, he refuses to ruin his friends’ night, especially over something as stupid as Emma’s issues with Regulus.  “Maybe,” James concedes. “I’ve got a few texts. Some of them could be from her, I didn’t check.”  Regulus looks at him, eyebrow arched. “You don’t sound very worried.” “I’m not.” “I thought you’d like to be with her when the new year starts. I’ve heard it’s supposed to bring good luck.” “Well, you thought wrong.”  “And she’s okay with this? She’s been all over you tonight. Didn’t even wanna leave your side to use the loo, which, personally, I think was a bit much, but—” “Reg, I really couldn’t care less,” James admits, laughing a little. “Emma's a big girl, she’ll get over it. Besides, she’s here with friends too. She has them to keep her company.” There’s a beat of silence. James glances downhill, watching Sirius pull Remus closer to where his parents are standing. He narrows his eyes, jumping from one person to another, until he locates Emma, chatting animatedly with Mary. She’s gesticulating a lot, so James guesses that the topic must be fun. “Christ, you’re awful,” Regulus says. He sounds like he’s smiling. “How come she hasn’t dumped your arse yet?” James smirks, leaning towards Regulus and lowering his head enough to whisper in his ear. “I fuck her too well.”

I think THE most unpleasant shift in fandom culture these recent years is the gradually growing expectations put onto creators for their fanart/fanfic etc. to adhere to canon. Your ships have to have canon interactions, your depictions and ideas have to have a basis in canon etc.

On it's own it's not a bad way to go about things. That's just one of many ways to enjoy fandom. But the past few years I've seen so much judgement and criticism aimed at fandom creators who don't follow this supposed new "norm" of "respecting" canon. And I rarely ever see anyone pointing this out even though it's been such a drastic shift.

Again, it's not a bad way of enjoying fandom... but I feel like many people expecting others to follow canon fundamentally misunderstand why some of us create fanworks in the first place?

Like, I've always been a rarepair and multishipper. I constantly joke about how you could hold a gun to my head and I'd literally not remember even 1/8 of every character and ship I enjoy, because my favorite thing in fandom is to imagine every single potential dynamic I can think of between characters. I love to analyze personalities, character stories, envision which of them could overlap and flourish with potential together based on the canon I love.

I only do this with media I really enjoy, because for me to get that invested in imagining dynamics between often an entire cast, I have to immensely enjoy said cast, as well as the world they live in, the stories they tell, everything. For me this is a way of enjoying a story even after it's finished. The journey may be over done, but I sure am not!

Beause that's the thing about it all; if I wanted to consume only canon adjascent things, then I'd stick to consuming the canon source only. I wouldn't go out of my way to read or write fics if I was just looking for more of the canon.

This isn't something rare or alien to do, even though nowadays it feels like you always have to be at the ready to "defend" your interests and justify them to people who lack imagination to the point where they're incapable of comprehending that other people might gain a different sort of enjoyment from fandom and fanworks. Which wouldn't be a problem if they at least learned how to mind their own business.

we all have this traditional concept of ancient heroes as... some mystical unmatched people that were always so cool and strong and we could never catch up to their glory, and I mean, they’re all super cool, but they were also so human!! and so fucking PATHETIC!!

Lancelot was like... the coolest, the strongest, the best knight of the fellowship of Arthur, and also the biggest simp of all times?? He would have literally done ANYTHING Guinevere told him to do. He humiliated himself over and over again for her!! He would let himself being beaten up because she asked him to do so! And speaking of knights, Perceval was such a silly little mess. He literally has to ask 2 simple questions but he gets anxious because his old masters told him “you ask too much questions” so he stay silent and fucks everything up because of this. 

Dante Alighieri, probably the biggest italian author ever, wrote a book about his love for Beatrice and described how one time he saw her and got so nervous he had to run to his own room with his heart beating fast like any modern young adult book teenager protagonist would do 

they’re all so silly!! and so cool anyway!! humans have always been the same and that’s so beautiful. you can read all these classical book and be like “omg he’s so me” much more than you would think 

I just think that’s neat yk
