I just saw a FB post of a fake crocheted wasps next hung on someone's porch. (I took a screenshot, but didn't submit cos I don't own the image) Anyway, the maker said they were told wasps were territorial and that after they made and hung the fake nest it kept wasps from nesting on their porch. Do you know if this works? We have issues with yellow jackets in a yard full of small kids (and little dogs who enjoy snapping at flying snacks!)

I’ve never tried it myself but I’ve heard anecdotal stories of fake wasp nests being a deterrent that sometimes works - whether this is coincidence or an actual effect of the fake nest is unclear. If anyone has ever tried it, feel free to comment with thoughts! Although I am skeptical - without other wasps actually inside the (fake) nest, I can’t imagine the new wasps would really care about it and would just go ahead and make their own nest nearby anyway.

Hello there! This is sort of a strange question. I just saw your post about Chris's appearance at Ace in October. Earlier this year I did a small watercolor portrait of Chris's dog, Dodger for fun. I can't go to Ace, but I'm wondering if another fan were going to do an autograph or photo op if maybe they would want to give it to Chris? I don't know a lot of other fans or blogs, so I'm not sure if just posting on my own would reach anyone. I know it's an odd question, but thanks for any help!

Because they have a faint dead flesh smell I’m used to them having some houseflies, but this one has been busy with these green metallic flies and big horseflies and today I saw white residue and found it’s little larvae? Whose kids are these?!? 😂 I’m in central Texas. Thanks for all the wonderful bug content!

Hello! Thank you! And what a great video this is. The fly is a common greenbottle, but I have zero chance of correctly IDing whose children those are! Mystery fly babies. RIP to them though because they’ve been tricked into thinking there’s delicious meat food in this flower. Thanks for sharing!
