Good news! The coat is nearly done!
Weird news: somehow the coat is a little longer than the photo on the first row of blue. It should have needed a matching row of blue under it to get that long.
I'm supposed to get 6 stitches per inch, which I have in the knitpicks brava (all the citrus colors). I got 5 in the blue, but it's Caron One Pound, which is slightly thicker and causes this issue at times.
What IS surprising is how much COAT this coat is. I assumed Size 36 meant bust, but perhaps I was wrong. But I can't find a vintage sizing chart to confirm. I can say that the row measurement is off. It's about 1/4" an inch wider per three rows, so 1/2" per stripe (they're all six rows). So, yeah, that accounts for the extra width, but I truly can't figure out the extra length. Maybe it's because they're worked in the round.
Anyway, it's currently being washed to see if I can loosen the fibers a bit because this was one of those "Use a worsted but also a 3.5 hook."
If it comes together in the end, it'll likely become Sean's. Fits his shoulders like a dream, and that's a minor miracle for a mistake.

@president-alpine I know you intended this for my sideblog and more for a general Doc Ock & Mysterio.. but this is all I could think to answer it, I hope you don't mind?
Anyways, here's my Beck working together with my Otto to create a new "Doc Ock costume". It was Beck's idea to try and spice up his look lol It's comfortable and practical and has a bit of octopus motifs if you look closely!
+ two alternative colorations. Beck got a little carried away
Otto does prefer simple, practical, and comfortable. He's not really a glitz and glamor type. And while he doesn't exactly see why he would really need a new outfit when his old one works just fine, Beck insisted he make something for him.
Beck couldn't help himself but add the extra pizzazz of textures/patterns into the costume, but he toned them down a bit so it's not too much. He wanted to really tap into Otto's "Doc Ock" title and add octopus elements, but Otto thought it'd be too much. The results are what they finally settled on!

I could never be a P.I. because I have too wide an array of delightful trench coats including but not limited to: trench coat with very obvious (real) blood stains, shiny silver trench coat, ankle-length rainbow trench coat, and a trench coat covered in giant multicolor eyes. I simply would not be able to resist the temptation.
Yes, I also have a wide array of different detective hats to go with. Fedoras, deer-stalkers, top hats, bowlers, hats with a very conspicuous and suspicious flower on them, etc.

Not finalized design I think . But since I made Slater incarnations before that had inspirations from The Vessel and The Heart, this is kinda ?? Similar to that,, more inspiration from Vessel specifically (angel motif and how his coat looks), but tried to keep it looking like canon Slater, just with less gray.
Also inspired by the design of the yumemiushi angel, except without the halo. (Unless the halo is like.. a gold ring on his finger or something?)

Today I've been crocheting a sunflower to sew onto my coat. I'm using three different patterns for the various components of the sunflower, and multiple colour strands for them too. So far I have the centre done.
This is dark brown with a rose gold crochet thread. The first round of petals off the seedbed will have yellow yarn with a metallic gold crochet thread in it. :D
The larger petals in the second round will have orange edges on the yellow after it's crocheted. Stay tuned. I want this one done this week.
