So I just learned about a new, distinct type of hell

Food is important in Mandalorian culture so I’m curious: Hurricane squad eating habits/preferences? Anybody put too much sugar in their caf or too much salt on their food? Drink preferences? Soda, caf, alcohol, tea, milk, etc? Anybody who, in true Mandalorian fashion, loves the “mouthburn” of insanely spicy food? Anybody who gets full after half a plate of food vs someone with a bottomless stomach? Stress eaters? Anybody willing to eat candy off the floor regardless of how long it’s been there?

I haven’t tackled their food habits, this is going to be interesting

I mean.. when you’ve been stuck on an Icey planet for 2 years, you don’t have much variety when it comes to food rations or from its planet’s limited/little fauna/flora

But they would go bonker once they’re off Magna49

Let’s see...

Snowpiercer:

- he’s the tea type, love the smell and the various flavors he can gets his hands on, very soothing and sometimes takes it with a dash of cream. He hates the smell of coffee

- Food wise, he likes bits of everything, he doesn’t fuss about it and has a big appetite, but would fancy some veggies than a stake.

- He’s annoyingly well mannered whe he eats, even when it’s just ration bars, trying to set a good exemple I guess.

- He has a rather good tolerance for spicy food

Raindrop:

- carbures on coffee and energy drinks ( caffeine high)

- Loves bland food with little to no seasoning (plane rice, plane pasta etc etc) “it taste good and I like the texture”

- You can guess he’s pretty weak on the spice sauce, f his tongue

- Rather small and picky appetite, drinks more fluids and consume food

- He will not eat if you changed the way you cooked something, so used to his isolated routine

Fogg:

- this man has a sweet tooth, hot and cold chocolate, milk shake, sodas, ice creams- oh boy (sugar high)

- Very bratty and picky with his food despite a huge appetite

- Sea food is his favorite domain outside of sugary treats

- He ends up making his food himself so it’s the right way for his taste buds

- Wants to prove he can handle the spice but is at the same level and maybe higher than Raindrop

Lake:

- One black and strong coffee he enough to boost him for the day

- Is not afraid to try new things or back down from a challenge, no matter how gross it can be

- When it comes to left overs, he doesn’t heat them up, he eats them straight out of the fridge “brings out a whole new flavor”

- “Food is food, no matter of it dried or got cold, imma eat it”

- The spice force is strong in this one

- Likes to take notes about new things He eats... and a reminder what can cause digestive problems..

Spicy food

General Headcanon time!!!

So in my endeavors to find something nice to get back into writing, i stumbled over the mandalorian dictionary. And found something I would have hoped for but not expected. Mandalorians love spices. Love spicy food.  They even have words for “Noseburn” and “Mouthburn”!

So it would only be natural for the clones to inherit that want for spice as well, right?

Right.

So now imagine Clones bartering in between themselves with changing shifts and promises of Credits. But it gets all topped by the one clone who has access to Hot Sauce.  He would win every karking favor! I imagine the food in the normal mess to be quite bland, so every last Clone would try to get even a little sample of the spices and the hot sauces!

Cooks would weep and hoard them for special occassions!

Just the picture in my head of Clones standing in line to get their food, and all of them have a tiny pack of sealed Hot Sauce on their belt pouches to spice their food up is warming my heart...

While I’m glad that the idea has been one others have hit on, and I’m sure @oolathurman would find some joy in it as well, admittedly, I’m not at all a fan of the fact that they constructed the word for it as “spicy water” nor am I a fan that there’s an unnecessary dig at New Mandalorians by saying their food is bland, which doesn’t make sense to me personally given that New Mandalorians… are still Mandalorians—and Mandalorian cuisine in general seems to just strongly dislike the mere thought of being bland.

Also, if one wanted chili peppers, I think one ought not to go for hetikleyc (noseburn), which is a burning in the sinuses. Chili peppers is more heturam (mouthburn).

Jacks’s Best Date:

A simple creature, Jacks would say her best date came about three months after she and Aric started dating and they got a bit of actual shore leave. It started with a shooting contest (that he won) and then a nice dinner. They went for a walk afterwards and while there was some talking, mostly they held hands and enjoyed being together in the quiet. Then they went back to her quarters. 

Most Romantic Thing Hrafnhar’s Ever Done: 

Furiously embarrassed, Hrafnhar would mutter that she learned to cook. There’s a sensation Mando’s crave in their food called heturam or “mouthburn” when something is super spicy. She is a terrible cook, but she tries and she tries to modify recipes to make them more spicy without losing the flavor and she’s absolute shit at it. 

Marli And The Code: 

Marli’s biggest regret with regards to the code is and will always be Scourge. From fucking him to loving him to letting him piss her off constantly she had broken almost ever tenet of her code in regard to him and she hates it and she doesn’t know why she doesn’t stop.

His go-to would be jalapeño-onion-mushroom. But otherwise he just looks for preferabely vegetarian mouthburners, if he is given the option to do so.His favorite would be some style of chicken curry, no matter how stereotypical it might seem lolBut like... the real deal. Amra is his mom af ter all.He prefers to have things cooked for him but he's not completely useless in the kitchen. Amra has turned him into a very talented vegetable peeler and chopper. He would hang out in the kitchen when Amra is there bc hes social and has someome to chat up that way, so she might as well make him useful.He's a social cook which means he's more or less avoiding it unless he has a partner or at least someone who hangs out. There will be music (cooking by the book ft lil john) and general funnyman shenanigans
