Can't we all agree that there is the possibility that the mommy of all monsters is lying to mess with Annabeth?

Don't get me wrong. Athena is not mother of the year, for sure. But she is the godess of tactical warfare and sending a bunch of monsters after your child just because she is doing typical teenager stuff does not strike me as a particularly clever move.

Working in retail teaches you a lot about how much the public sucks, but the most surprising to me was just how common it is for people to feel entitled to personal medical history. I wear a knee brace at work to stabilize my kneecap for long shifts, and usually at least one customer asks, "What happened to your leg?" And thinks that that's an appropriate question for a stranger. The weirdest part to me is that if I tell them I was in a car accident (I'm a strong advocate for lying to customers about yourself) they leave that interaction continuing to believe that it was totally fine, but if I answer with some variation on the truth they suddenly get very uncomfortable. Like, sorry I've got an incurable genetic disorder instead of something cool like a tiger attack. Maybe questioning someone's health shouldn't be on your list of small talk topics if you're not prepared for the answer to possibly be upsetting, just a thought.

People take inspiration and strength from a lot of things in life like religion, philosophy, even lyrics in music, but I feel like there's always been a bit of a wtf is wrong with you if you try to model your behaviour based on fictional characters - at least fictional characters written recently, or particularly by women. People will find authors themselves inspiring, but it's like it's embarassing if your inspiration is the fictional character.

And honestly I think that's so sad because Xie Lian exists, and any time I'm feeling bad about anything I just think about him and his life and what he learned and the way he came to a point where he could control what he let affect him and I actually genuinely find it inspiring. TGCF is such a masterpiece on so many levels, but Xie Lian is just different to any character I've ever encountered. I definitely have a tendency to gravitate towards the characters who are like me, or who I find amusing, or who have traits I find attractive, but Xie Lian is none of those things (ok the second one a little bit because he is funny in a dry sense of humour way). Like I just really admire him as a person and he inspires me in a way very few real life people have.

How do you find the right Kanji ?? All the sites i have keep just contradict eachother !

Well I go to behindthename (cuz they have a couple of ways to write the same name and explanations as to what kanji means what), look at the name that has a meaning I like, go look up if it's an actual name, go to google and look up "Japanese name meaning X" and if I see the same name on some of the lists I just go with it. Sometimes I look up individual kanjis on jisho to see if the translation I saw was accurate.

It's probably not the most accurate method but I'm going to live with it and maybe change a few names if they were badly translated or something
