i saw Fargo on your movies list and i was wondering what you liked about it? I've been considering seeing it for a while. Is it just funny?

yeah it's funny in a profoundly nihilistic way. i really like coen brothers films because they just portray this deeply banal trivial world where people die for stupid reasons and nothing ultimately matters that much but they do it without, like--idk how to put this. being annoying about it. like without imparting this nihilism with any unearned profundity, it just feels like a faithful depiction of a kind of bizarre pointless world that ultimately is still worth living in no matter how dark it gets

yknow i'm actually not sure. someone, or multiple someones, makes these really fantastic digital art pieces about baseball that i have seen from time to time around the web but never from their original source. they are really good though. here's some more:

based on the speech bubbles they appear to be made by the same person as the infamous "better kill me in one shot" ones, or at least in the same vein:

it is sincerely one of my favorite pieces of digital art ever. it really encapsulates the way baseball feels for me: quasi-religious and communal and absurd and cathartic, and in possession of a strange, engaging contradiction between the essential mundane humanity of the ballplayer and the pedestal to which he is raised as a symbol. i also find the aesthetics pretty interesting and appealing. i like it a whole lot!
