My latest addition to the Muppets AU: Curtain and Garrison lyrics for “I’m Number One” from “Muppets Most Wanted”

Inspired by @sophieswundergarten’s mbs vision for “Life’s a Happy Song”.

This scene happens after Garrison and Curtain have a scene where Curtain is pushing ethical boundaries saying he has a right to do what he wants with his inventions and Garrison is like “um… don’t you mean our inventions?”. And Curtain is like “oh. My friend, of course” and then he breaks into song because of course he does: Curtain (singing while dramatically playing a piano that appears out of nowhere): I'm number one, you're number two. We're in spotlights that shine, but I shine brighter than you. I'm number one, you're number two. I do love equality, But in proportionality I'm one…

Garrison (spoken): You're one.

Curtain (singing): You're number two.

Garrison (spoken): I'm number two.

Curtain (singing): My friend, you’re spectacular, but I'm spectacularer than you. I'm number one, you're number two.

Curtain (singing with a side glance at Jeffers): You're lucky to be, number two not number three.

[Side Note: on this line, Jeffers tries to join the number, but trips and/or Jackson and Jillson (who are playing brass band instruments during the song) hit him in the face with the door or something].

Curtain (singing to Garrison): I can see by the look in your eye, you want to get a bigger piece of the pie. One day you'll get your chance, but in the mean time, You got to dance doctor dance!

Garrison (spoken): Really? I hate dancing. Curtain (spoken, giving the same look he gave when Garrison tried refusing his champagne): Aw, come now friend: Dance Doctor Dance!

[Garrison dances extremely reluctantly and it’s about as awkward as you’d expect.]

Garrison (begrudgingly singing): I'm number two. He's number one. How could working for a theatre kid be any fun? I'm number two. He's number one.

Curtain: I'M NUMBER ONE!!! Garrison: This is so embarrassing I hate having to dance and sing. It’s just a matter of time you see, before he's gone and I'm inches from victory.

It won't be long until I get my chance. But in the mean time…

Garrison (singing as if she just tasted something awful): I've got to dance doctor dance.

Curtain (cheerfully): Dance doctor dance! Now watch me!

[Curtain breaks into a fun like tap dance. Meanwhile, Jeffers, throughout the entire number, has awkwardly been trying to join Garrison and Curtain’s dance, but through a series of comedic mishaps keeps tripping and falling over stuff. At this point, he accidentally like. Falls into a lake or gets locked out of the room or something and is ignored the rest of the song as he screams for help]. Curtain: I'm number one. Garrison: He’s number one.

Curtain: You're number two. Garrison: I'm number two…

Curtain: That's it friend, there you go, now step aside, this ain't your show. I'm one.

Garrison: You're one.

Curtain: I'm number one!

Garrison (visibly annoyed): Yes, we know…

Curtain/Garrison: I'm..., / He's... Number one!

Curtain: That's how it's done.

[For the final dance move, Curtain offers his hand to Garrison, who tries to politely and nonverbally reject it, but he looks at her forcefully so she reluctantly takes it. Curtain spins her inwards and dips her, only to “accidentally” drop her on the final note].

Another Muppets song on my list to somehow work into MBS: "Movin' Right Along"!! (I know it's a bit late and nobody cares, but I really wanted to do it)

I think this would be a song the kids do some of their Season 2 travel montage to. Not all of it, since there's also plot important stuff that has to happen, but definitely some of it!

Here is the original song, and here is a cover that I also like. (It moves a bit faster)

Some notes: I get that in Season 2 it's kind of tense and serious, what with Mr. Benedict and Number Two kidnapped and the kids running around Europe unsupervised. However. This is a Muppet Movie. People are barely capable of being serious for more than five seconds. Please keep that in mind as this song is very silly.

Constance very begrudgingly says her lines in a slightly sing-song voice, barely differentiable from speaking. In the parts where it lists all of the kids, she is just half-heartedly lip-syncing, or rolling her eyes at the others.

Sticky is trying very hard to keep track of the maps/train schedules this whole time. He is usually the one pointing the direction they should be going/correcting them if they get lost.

Reynie and Kate are the best roadtrip sing-along buddies. Every now and again Reynie will stop singing because he's trying to keep the group on track, but he is also having a lot of fun with Kate.

Kate would be the one driving the car, if that was feasible/what was actually happening. This is a very contextless and unfounded statement but I believe you need it in order to properly visualize their travel dynamic.

Reynie: Movin' right along in search of more clues and good news Kate: With good friends you can't lose This seems to be a habit! So I saw @phtalogreenpoison comment somewhere about an MBS ATLA AU and it got me thinking:

Would the kids each have a different element, or would Curtain be like. The fire nation, expect SQ is an air bender for some reason (he has to be air bender. That is non-negociable. He deserves to fly with his bird friends).

Would the twins have opposing elements, the same elements, OR would they be non benders who have teams of bending children? If they did have bending, Nicholas as an uncle Iroh type fire bender and Curtain as a water blood bender would be cool.

Does the avatar exist in this universe and if so, who is it? (Is it SQ? Is that why Curtain is using him? Or is it Constance?)

Milligan and Kate give me earth bender vibes for some reason. Though, I feel like you could also do air for Kate because of Madge and her circus tricks, and I also feel like Kate and Milligan would still be super powerful as nonbenders. (But Kate would be a powerful metal bender and I’d like to see that). OOHHH wait new idea: Milligan and Kate as non benders BUT Kate is like Ty Lee: they were both in the circus and Kate can do chi blocking. Now there’s an idea…

How is blood bending gonna fit into this? And who are the water benders gonna be?

This is a suggestion: Constance as those fire benders with the third eye that enables them to explode things with their minds. Since she is psychic. Although I could also see her as an earth bender who launches rocks at Curtain’s head. There’s probably so much more I could add to this but these are my initial thoughts.

Okay, I'm not sure where all of this came from, (And a good portion of it is due to @nobody33333333's addition to last night's chaos), and I don't know if we're talking about just interjecting a song into the actual show, or in the Muppets AU where (According to current decisions) Kermit is playing Mr. Benedict. My basic outline is that this is the song over which Curtain brainwashes his brother, so there's a more visible, "on-screen" progression: (I'm sorry I couldn't figure out how to fit Number Two in at this point, I tried. Maybe that's why it only takes one song to win over Nicholas, he isn't worried about her...)
