Introduction to my Classpecting Ideas
This felt like a good idea for something to put out before I put my Knight & Page analysis out there, since I plan on making this a 6 part series. (Potentially 7 if demand for a Lord/Muse addendum is high enough).
So, I'll be laying out my most important philosophies on the subject here for future reference.
Classpecting is...
Point A. Classpecting is malleable.
There is not one rigid, set definition for any Class pair, or any Aspect pairing. The freedom of the author is that they may assign any symbolism to a concept that they may like.
What I mean by this is that people often seem to think that manifestations of an Aspect within Homestuck's narrative paint that object or idea as a concept inherently tied to that Aspect.
Example: Pumpkins & Void. You would not believe the amount of people in the early fandom who swore by the idea that pumpkins were inherently just Void constructs because of their role in Homestuck's narrative.
No? Pumpkins symbolise Void in Homestuck itself and Homestuck itself only only due to a running gag inherent to Homestuck itself.
Anything, with enough narrative basis and existing thematic ties, can serve to symbolise an Aspect. Furthermore, two different authors may have different ideas of what Aspect something represents.
Some authors may see alcohol, for example, as a Void-bound concept owing to its obfuscation of fair judgement. Some may see it as a Light-bound concept owing to the idea of 'in vino veritas' and the tendency of drunkenness to induce truthful confessions. Some may see it as a Life-bound concept owing to its associations with hedonism and impulsive behaviour.
With enough narrative consistence, anything is possible. Homestuck's narrative is not as rigid of a point of reference as some people would swear by it being. This is deeply important.
Point B. Classpecting is not the whole of a character.
I can't exactly phrase this in a satisfactory manner, but... a Classpect is not a personality type in of itself. An individual being a Prince of Heart does not instantly make them Dirk Strider. It merely means that their core value is identity & selfhood, and they interact with it by destroying it. It is that simple!
I see, time and time again, Classpecting blogs acting as if a Classpect is indicative of a character's whole personality and giving guides as to the exact behaviours & quirks a character with that Classpect should have.
I am imploring you to explore wider possibilities when it comes to this. Even if it means sharing a title with a canon character! It doesn't mean you have to just rewrite that canon character because that's not how Classpecting works.
I've seen fanventure characters share titles with canon characters. (Sovereignstuck's Annomi Errata & Dynama Zarrow sharing titles with Dirk & Porrim respectively, and Porrim herself is also a player in that narrative, mind you!)
I've seen fanventure characters share titles with eachother. (Vast Error's Dismas Mersiv is a Rogue of Mind. One of my fantrolls is also a Rogue of Mind!)
In every instance, they are fundamentally different people. I cannot put it any simpler than this.
Point C. Classpecting is always applicable.
That is the perfection of the Classpecting system. You can give a title to any character, from anything ever made. It's not even that difficult if you're half-decent at media analysis!
Quite literally all you need to do is ask yourself two questions.
"What's this character's core value?" and "How do they interact with that?" Do that, and you've got yourself a Classpect.
That's the beauty of it! It's obviously not going to be as airtight as a story that has the Classpecting system baked directly into the narrative, but it's still going to work out!
Hell, do it to yourself! Do it to your friends! The world's your oyster. You can do anything you want, forever, for the rest of time. I'm a Seer of Life! My best friend is a Page of Blood! My mother is a Witch of Hope! Go wild.
Post formatting
For my Classpecting posts, I'll aim to give two related definitions for every Class.
Definition A is the narrative function, what the Class says about the person and how they interact with their Aspect as an abstract concept.
Definition B is the practical function, what the Class says about their role in the session and how they interact with their Aspect as a SBURB construct.
Therefore, we get an idea of both the abstract, personal definition of a Classpect, and the functional, game application of a Classpect.
I'll also aim to give about two or three examples for each individual title about how you could write a character with them, since there are always going to be multiple directions you can take with a Classpect.
Conclusion
tl;dr - what I'm trying to say is this. Classpecting is malleable, easily applicable & capable of saying any number of things, and my posts will aim to give two concise definitions of both narrative and practical function for every title.
I'll get the Knight:Page analysis done either today or tomorrow, and the rest of the Class posts will be staggered releases in order of poll results. Thus, the order is going to be:
Knights & Pages, Deficiency and Exploitation.
Mages & Seers, Experience and Comprehension.
Witches & Heirs, Adherence and Manipulation.
Princes & Bards, Instability and Destruction.
Thieves & Rogues, Inundation and Redistribution.
Maids & Sylphs, Maintenance and Generation.
And, potentially...
7. Lords & Muses, Absolution and Dominion.
And then, subsequently, the order for the Aspect posts, which I've decided based on relevance to the canon, roughly speaking anyways...
Space & Time, Genesis and Terminus.
Breath & Blood, Fluidity and Stability.
Light & Void, Potential and Simplicity.
Heart & Mind, Instinct and Dialectics.
Life & Doom, Progress and Stagnation.
Hope & Rage, Conviction and Iconoclasm.
I look forward to the next post. Until then, take care.

Why Chara Undertale is a Muse of Time
From the dawn of 2009, it has been the Homestuck's duty to assign characters from different media a title from their RPG-inspired typology system. Although it is full of holes, has little cannon info, and can be interpreted in so many ways it is honestly pointless to argue about which character is which Classpect, it is my duty as not only a Homestuck, but as a Tumblr blogger to assert that my interpretation is right and that everyone else is wrong.
So here is why Chara is so obviously a Muse of Time, it is actually atextual to suggest any other classpect.
First of all, Toby Fox is a Homestuck fan. He read the comic, he wrote a comic, and he made music for the comic. Therefore, it is not unthinkable that we can look to Chara's design, and dialogue, for clues for their classpect.
Chara was inspired by the Cherubs. The red cheeks, their Al-like speech patterns, their green shirt, their focus on absolutes, the way they were briefly a part of an entity that fought with itself, they have a sibling relationship with someone who is very much their opposite (at least at the time,) it is all very much Cherub inspired. This will be important later.
Secondly, let's look at their ideology. Aspect is the themes that follow you, which informs how you see the world. Chara is very much focused on power. They want all of it they can have. They define themselves by it, and the chase for it. They are noted to be very efficient and particular in how they pour their water, and it is not a stretch to say they keep these traits are probably a key part of their personality. Additionally, they are surrounded by death. They die, cause the death of another, and are only encountered in the route where you kill everyone. You only see them in sepia-toned flashbacks of the past otherwise, or if you believe in the NarraChara theory, narrating the present, using their words to define how we experience Undertale in the moment. Yeah, this is a Time-bound character no doubt.
Thirdly, let's talk about their role in the story. This is what defines their class, and is the tricker part of classpecting. Chara is defined by absence. The fact that their name is actually their name, not Frisk's, is the twist at one of the ends of the game. They are only vaguely alluded to by those that know them, and they don't have a voice bite. We only encounter them in a route where they are pushed so far we don't know if their personality is what we see, and it's at the end of the hardest route too. It would be easier to say Chara is a complete non-character, except...they are the reason the game happens. Their choices indirectly lead to Asgore causing the war, which directly impacts every character in the game. They impact Asriel so much that he is only saved when reminded of them. In fact, much of Asriels/Flowey's actions are defined by Chara's impact on them, and Undertale as a story would have to be completely rewritten without them. Hell, if you believe in NarraChara, they are the narrator. Imagine playing Undertale without the iconic narration! This is all a dead ringer for the Muse class. They are the indirect, most passive, almost absent character that ends up impacting absolutely everything.
Chara is a Muse of Time, baby.
(Oh, and about that cherub stuff? The only two Classpects of the Cherubs we know are the Lord of Time and the Muse of Space. The Lord has iconic red cheeks, and the Muse becomes the Narrator in half of the epilogues. Checkmate, atheists!)
If you read all of this, I just want to thank you for your time. I love this place, and I am glad to finally be here and maybe make some friends on this cursed webbed site. Just remember: I am always right, even in subjective matters. Bye!!!!!!!! <3

What's the difference between a mage, sylph, muse, and knight of void?
Mage knows how to screw in a lightbulb but won’t tell you.
Sylph goes around unscrewing lightbulbs humming to themself.
Muse preaches about the value of darkness but doesn’t actually unscrew anything.
Knight slingshots every lightbulb in the house.
None of them can change a lightbulb.

Muse Result Class Description
First things first, you're probably a total perfectionist. Secondly, you most likely have some really bad imposter syndrome. And lastly, you are probably a really, really kind and caring person, but almost to a fault.
Chances are that you had a rough time growing up. You felt like you had to always perform better than someone else in your life. You could never rest. Rest was for the weak. And the last thing you ever wanted to be labeled as was weak.
In a friend group, you're probably the most supportive person out of the bunch, regardless of your Aspect. People look up to you. For what? A lot of stuff, I'm sure. Just as sure as I am that you also do your best to give what they come looking for. But what happens when someone walks away displeased with how you handled something?
You have to be kinder to yourself - nobody is perfect, not even when people sing your praises like you are, or try to force you into becoming as such.
You know that saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"? That's something you really need to learn to do towards yourself. You weren't broken. You never were. There's nothing to fix - there never was anything to fix, until other people forced you into the mold you're in now.
The journey of the Muse is not like any of the other Classes. Most often, your journey is more about accepting yourself for who you are, without trying to better yourself. Your biggest issue is learning to let things go and when enough is enough. Perfectionism, if left unchecked, will be your biggest undoing.
Muses are quite the enigmatic Class when put under a microscope. You have many angles about you. You're more complex than many people may want to give you credit for. Maybe even more than you, yourself, give credit for. Muses are those who are meant to Inspire their Aspect in other people, sure. But it's also important to look out for yourself. You may be one of two Master Classes, but you're still, ultimately, going to be a flawed individual.

Greetings.
People of Froggernet are speaking of some classes that they deem 'secret'.
I, for one, do not believe them. Please confirm my guesses.
Classes such as 'muse', 'gent' and 'lord' do not exist. The same goes for the, eugh, 'waste' class. Correct?
Thank you for your time.
What are you talking about????? They may be rare for most sapients but there not. Like. Unheard of. Sure, waste and gent were placeholder names until we found their real names in the files- but even though they are glitched, Judges and Scribes are still assigned classes. They are really rare though…and it’s better to get an explanation out of the way before someone comes in calling them “the MaStEr” classes…Okay. Rare Classes rundown go!!
First of all, what makes them so rare? I thought classes were distributed based on archetype or general traits or something? Well good question! While it’s true that Classpect is based off of that, not all archetypes are easily embodied! In fact, even among the “common” classes, there are a lot less Princes or Sylphs compared to other classes. There is actually a whole scale made off of these “tiers” of rarity! The reason this happens is because of commitment and complexity. Most people don’t have either the right amount of drive/commitment to certain beliefs that a class needs, or the thought patterns that produce the class are complex and windy. People like the simplest things possible, especially when it comes to justifications for a pattern of a behavior, so there just ends up being less of a certain class. Not that this is a good or bad thing- some things can be unreadably complex and confusing, and frog knows that too much drive can be problematic. And this isn’t even true across all species! Some species have a completely different tier system due to their psychology- a certain Cherubic species has their tiers backwards compared to other races- Lords, Muses, Judges, and Scribes are the most common by far for them!
So what makes these “Rare” classes so rare? It is because they are so Uncompromising. You have to have an absolute commitment to your ideals for Lords and Muses, or utterly confusing and complex thought patterns and justifications for Judges and Scribes. So they end up being relatively rare compared to other classes! But not impossible. And not more powerful. All species can have a Rare class, and frog knows there are a good amount of Human Lords. The power misconception is a bit more understandable- most people with the will to try to do a Dead Session end up being one of these classes, and they might end up completing it. People then see their immense power, and assume it comes from the class. But it’s actual the result of the Dead Session! They are designed to push you to your absolute limits, and reward those who complete it with powerful Mcguffins. But this works for all classes- a Thief who completed a Dead Session will have the same amount of power as a Muse who did as well. And that’s not even mentioning the amount of people who permadie doing the challenge! It’s more so that the Rare classes have the right mentality to succeed, and thus the most of them survive, compared to other common classes. But they are not inherently more powerful. In regular sessions, even with their ability to Conduct or Define their aspect, without Dead Sessions learn-or-die mentality, they stay at the same power level as their peers. Not to mention that their own personality often ends up sabotaging them! They’re kinda like Pages in that way…just more intense.
So I think that answered your question? They are real Classes, just rare because of the mentality needed to be that archetype. If you’re curious about any one class, feel free to ask! GG out!
—————<|>—————
I wonder what would happen if a Page won a Dead Session…I don’t think it’s happened yet, but imagine the power! I’m scared just thinking about it.

Do you think that becoming a lord is similar to becomeing a "man" because it is something you have to prove where as becoming a muse is similar to becoming a "woman" because womanhood is suddenly thrust apon you one day and you are left dealing with the consequences?
Am I thinking too much?
Did someone else already make this connection?

What’s Godzilla’s classpect?
Hello request from July 20th, 2020. Hope I didn't keep you waiting!
Godzilla
Godzilla has a long running history and has changed a lot as it has passed between the hands of different writers. To be most consistent I think I will specify that I'm talking about Godzilla as he was in the original conception: Godzilla (1954)
So a quick recap, the original incarnation of Godzilla was a big monster at the bottom of the ocean, whose slumber was disturbed by the nuclear bombs dropped on Japan in WW2. The whole radioactive part of the monster is just a side effect of the bombs in the first place. He was something of a manifestation/personification of the fear of nuclear weapons.
So with that out of the way, what is he? Well how about.....
Muse Of Doom
One who is dominated by [Doom]
That's right bitches, I actually am using Muse despite the many previous bashing. Basically, I think I've finally settled on a definition- For both Lord and Muse, really. A quick tangent that I can expand upon later if anyone is curious; maybe I'll just update that part of the FAQ.
Lord: One who dominates [Aspect]
Muse: One who is dominated by [Aspect]
Caliborn/Lord English dominates every timeline, removing every other influence other than himself including even ghosts.
Space players are duty bound with the creation of the new universe typically, but Calliope doesn't get that opportunity. Calliope-Prime makes space in the body for Caliborn in every timeline (save for one), dying in the process. The one that doesn't happens to be in a doomed timeline and literally just sits there and waits, her sole purpose being bringing the end of Lord English and preserving existence.
Back to Godzilla.
Godzilla is, well, not human. Pretty obvious but I'm just making sure we're all on the same page. He doesn't have some grand motivation or really even a concrete goal. He's an animal. He was sleeping at the bottom of the ocean. He got disturbed by the nuke and doused in radiation. So far, I don't think we can really call him anything other than a victim. Even when he starts to rampage I don't think we can really classify him as a villain.
He's a lizard. If you hit an alligator bit you after you hit it in the head with a hammer a villain? No. It's a fucking lizard. To really analyze this we have to focus largely on what it represents: Fear of nuclear devastation and the trauma associated with being nuked. Doom as an aspect represents death, endings, failure, cycles, and acceptance. And the whole concept of Godzilla was really just a way for the Japanese people at the time to process their trauma.
I think that's mostly it for this one. Hope you enjoyed!

quadrant analysis: (prospit) muse of hope <> mage of heart (derse)
same playthrough, but those two have really bad relationship at the start (bc of mage being a weirdo) but later becomes more stable
-cloud
oh muse is a new class!!! i never really look into the muse/lord classes!!!
okay, so, a muse of hope, wow! i'd hate to say it, but i think that because of their positivity, i think... they'd have the flaw of being overly optimistic? like, a toxic optimist. nothing can be a bad situation to them! not when they're around! they just won't accept it!!!
and WOO, a mage of heart, that's a lot. i think they suffer deeply from their own emotions. like, they feel so powerfully and deeply, and that's how they gain their knowledge of emotions.
so, i think that like, given the bad situation that is their session, it'd be hard for them to see eye to eye? like, the mage is an odd ball, and since the muse can't see past what THEY see, they just won't click. so it definitely affects their relationship. however, i think that lays a good foundation for their moirail relationship! moirails are supposed to be able to bounce off of each other, to provide alternate sides of a story and still be able to come to an agreement!!!

so i finally did it: flowey the flower's classpect & asriel dreemurr
obligatory disclaimer that this post will include massive spoilers for undertale and undertale yellow.
let's get the obvious out of the way first - what is flowey's ASPECT? this is something that i feel is pretty obvious, he's a very clear-cut doom player.
he deals with inevitability and predestination, has a very nihilistic and cynical worldview based on his soulless perception of the world and the repetitions he's gone through, and he's associated a lot with some very morbid and edgy imagery. in particular, i think it's his manipulations with fate and inevitability that solidify him as a player of doom (save states and such). it's for this same reason that i believe sans is a doom player, but that's for another essay.
what's his class? well, let's get into how flowey experiences doom.
flowey's existence, from the very moment of his creation, has been defined by doom. an inability to die or cessate his own existence that leads to a plethora of lives full to the brim with death, experiments with predestination and a general morbid curiosity. flowey does things until he's exhausted every single possible outcome of the situation, and then he moves on to the next until he's sucked all novelty and nuance out of it, effortlessly manipulating doom and making it bend to his whim.
a lot of people would be quick to place him as a witch because of this, but personally i think that flowey's absolute will and dominion places him at an even higher tier.
flowey isn't a witch, he is a lord of doom. he holds absolute control over the aspect of doom, exhibiting full control over inevitability and decay in every facet.
let's just look at some of the things flowey does. he subjects clover to countless resets and deaths at his hand for his own amusement, sets up the denizens of the underground like little dolls for him to play with until they break apart, all the while plotting to grasp more control and seize true dominion. he's a textbook lord, endlessly determined and power-hungry as he lets nothing stand in the way of his goal (acquisition of the SOULs). much in the same way, we see caliborn's quest for power leaving similar destruction in its wake and he holds the same determination, hell, they're even associated with the same laugh soundbyte! the similarities are all there, and the stunted mental development definitely shows for both of them given they're a kid who never properly got the chance to grow up.
in fact, it's the link to caliborn that brings me to my next point. what of asriel?
simple. in the same way the caliborn has his calliope, the muse of space, flowey has his asriel, the muse of life. this may sound contradictory to the asriel we see in the finale of undertale, but i propose that this is an asriel still under the throes of the inversion that brings flowey his classpect.
their true classpect has always been the muse of life, it's merely that flowey's soulless state brings about an inversion that is only 'fixed', if you will, after asriel is brought back to normality.
the real asriel is much like a muse. he is tender, emotional, caring, perhaps a little weak-willed or timid at times. he is the narrative's driving force but in a wholly passive manner. throughout the whole game asriel is the inspiration that hangs over the plot (throughout BOTH games in fact, his role in deltarune very much cements his role as a muse) but we never see him until the final hour. much like a muse, he has become his aspect for the sake of the narrative. life, of course, represents growth, affluence, the natural energy of all things, and uses both baking and plant-life as symbolism. consider what asriel and chara used for their plot, and what flowey is now, and those two symbols make a lot more sense.
so, though asriel and flowey have two separate classpects by technicality, they are still the same person and it's a inversion similar to that people say rose underwent during her descent into 'grimdarkness', going from a seer of light to a witch of void.
now, this is a controversial statement to make because a lot of homestuck fans question the validity of the 'inversion' argument, saying that it's never explicitly stated in canon and to that i say that homestuck is quite possibly the poster child for 'death of the author'. i want you to bear in mind this is my personal view on the subject and homestuck's fanbase has never been one to agree on any concrete interpretations of the classpect system.
that's all from me. until next time, tumblr.

I think canonically it would make sense if (since everything is predetermined by fate) sburb would only allow dead sessions to have lord and muse players bc that’s the only way it could work. Maybe two-player sessions would rely on having lords and muses because they can have more power and access within the game to make up for lack of players. Calliope and caliborn seem like… everything is perfectly set up (they’re the perfect set of players) to be allowed to play two-player. Anyone else would fail the game.
Thoughts on Master Classes (Lord and Muse)?
What do you all think about these classes? Do you dislike when people use them for OCs or in fanventures, or are you into it?
