favourite part about BBC Merlin is that everyone has been in love with Gwen and Merlin at some point. this includes Gwen and Merlin.

literally no one asked me this but i think about it a lot. one of the big reasons i love merlin so much is it is one of the only shows i watched growing up where it was seemingly both normal and okay for men to cry. where men are usually disparaged for showing Emotion or their Tears, or called weak when they showcase them, merlin was crying basically every other episode. and he's said to be the most powerful man to walk to earth.

every time i watch bbc merlin i'm just stunned bc it's so compelling but it's so badly written and i know it's not just the fault of the individual writers bc they had a limited budget and a lot of oversight and also like. 2008 was BRAVE for what they tried to do

i know they never made it explicitly textual, i know that ppl are upset they fucked the ending so badly, but like. 2008... torchwood aired 2006, sarah jane adventures 2007, and i bet they were thinking, like, well MAYBE if we just do it well enough, in a few years--

and. you know. they didn't. but bbc merlin or never feels to me like bbc sherlock or teen wolf where they were putting in gay shit just to taunt people or to trick an audience they didn't really have a right to to watch

but it's just like. this show has some of the most poor and inconsistent writing that's ever been put to screen, and yet it's so compelling. it's such an incredible and agonising waste of potential and EVERY time i rewatch im just. gahshfhdhfsh

thinking about immortal merlin going to a super famous artist who is known for having super lifelike paintings a few hundred years after arthur dies and telling them their story and having the artist paint arthur just by merlin’s descriptions instead of by a recreation with his magic and just reliving his life in camelot mentally while sitting on this artists couch as they bring arthur back to life for merlin

Merlin was sitting behind her desk, reading Pride and Prejudice when she hears a knock on the door. "Come in." She calls out in a soft but firm voice. She blinks in surprise at seeing @sinshosted standing on the other side.

Morgan is barking orders at her contractor (singular) in charge of creating the Singularity that will host this party of hers. Which isn't unusual, really. Morgan's a tyrant, and despite her lightening in demeanor at Chaldea, that's not changing.

What's unusual about this whole thing is who she's forcing to build it.

"Haaaa...Fine. White's much prettier, though..."

With a snap of her hammy wrist, all of her beautiful white and gold-trimmed curtains, tablecloths, and other general decorations turn a deep black, outlined with a sky-blue trimming.

"Why are you so rude to me anyway? Don't you hate the other me?"

"You are both Merlin, and Merlin is not deserving of my kindness. Now let's move on to the chandelier..."

"Tch. You're lucky you pay really well..."

Well, people, it's time for "dumb crossover ideas nobody asked for"!

Buffy and co. go back in time and end up in Camelot where they meet Merlin.

Long story short, while they learn about how Camelot has strict magic ban and try to figure out how to return to Sunnydale, Merlin and Buffy bond over sharing an impossible destiny that ruins their social life. (Also Giles learns he comes from a Pendragon bloodline and he's kinda disturbed by our boy Uther).

Come to think of it, I wouldn't be surprised if this already exists somewhere on ff.net or AO3.

There was a small room in Camelot's castle with a door to the Queen's chambers. This small room was plain and quiet now, but once it used to be filled with the infant Prince Arthur's jingling voice and his colourful little clothes, blankets and toys. If Arthur were to marry and have children, this room would be inhabited by them. Of course, 20 years old Arthur had no similar plans or desires, in fact, he wasn't sure he ever would. Only one day he found himself in an extremely strange situation, where him, his wacky manservant and his sister (at least so he considered her at heart), and her handmaid of a lifetime wound up hiding a young druid boy to save his life. The realization hit him a little belatedly, but the room they hid the child in was the exact room next to that of his mother's. The one he spent his early childhood in. And as he stood there with Morgana, Merlin, Gwen and the little druid, Mordred, he felt like they were a small, very odd family–the truest one he's ever had, and for a lingering moment he felt like home.

i hate the theory that arthur kinda knew about merlins magic the whole time (because the idiot sucks at hiding it) because that would mean all the suffering merlin has endured, all the damage he's done to hide his magic from arthur was pointless. HOWEVER. how would arthur NOT know

Merlin's eyes fluttered open after what felt like it could have been decades, more likely it had only been moments or hours for him. To be honest you'd think he'd be used to it by now, sitting up and stirring from whatever slumber had overcome him.

"Arthu---"

He stopped, something was wrong. They had been in the forest before, but it was winter in Camelot. He had been hunting, well helping while Arthur and some of his men were hunting - he was just there to carry things for the prince.

But this foresty area, it felt more alive, freeing. Like magic flowed here in a way it had not in Camelot for years at this point, not that Merlin had anything but Gaius' tales of old to go by.

Before anything though, he cupped his hands and muttered something quickly, a language old and known to the young warlock. His eyes glowed that quick flash of gold and he opened his hands to see the blue butterfly flutter away from them now.

A rustling in the brush, caught Merlin's attention however as he scrambled to his feet. Eyes darting about to look for anything he could use should he need to or even for what or whom had caused the rustling in the first place.

"Hello?"
