Nie Huaisang, Lan Xichen, Jin Guangyao, and Nie Mingjue all reincarnate together into PIDW, and become disciples around the same time as Luo Binghe.
The drama of this is of course enhanced by the facts that NMJ & JGY died "early," but NHS & LXC lived to the end of their natural lives as cultivators, and so some of their perspectives and opinions on events have naturally changed with age. (tfw the passage of time renders you unfamiliar to your once-loved ones)
Eventually they talk about their feelings and reconcile and such, and this ends up derailing the plot of PIDW severely as the rest of the PIDW characters confusedly observe quite possibly the weirdest disciples Cang Qiong's ever seen
NMJ on Bai Zhan, with no clue what's going on because he died first and NHS & LXC haven't told him anything
NHS on An Ding, thoroughly enjoying what's pretty much a vacation to him at this point and possibly running an interpeak illicit goods market (definitely not to distract himself from any of the emotions having NMJ & JGY alive and nearby would be causing him, Everything Is Fine) I haven't decided if he'd get involved with the whole og!SQH and MBJ situation tho
LXC on Qiong Ding, because I feel like he'd see himself in Yue Qingyuan and lowkey hate him for it and I think that could be interesting
JGY on Qing Jing, because he's the objectively the funniest/most interesting character to throw into the mess that is SJ and LBH. The way I imagine it, he's doing the most direct derailing of the plot, because he mostly accidentally gets right in the middle of the thing that is going on between those two
I feel like as I wrote this it became more serious than I originally intended so just know that I'm mentally picturing this like a fic that's interspersed with outsider POV of the 4 of them being completely deranged about eachother
(Also I'd feel bad taking away LXC's brother so LWJ and WWX + friends are busy doing hot girl shit being rogue cultivators. I think WWX should be a half demon so he gets to keep the cultivation and steal some of LBH's protagonist energy. If this was a fic then the rest of the Untamed gang would be perfect to use for side characters during off-peak missions)

Nie Huaisang is having too much fun waiting the two idiots called his shizun and shizun's poorly kept secret of a boyfriend go flailing around on these terribly unromantic dates BUT THE TWO WERE TRYING SO HARD that it was cute. Lan Xichen would be an old man and a good voice of reason for Yue Qingyuan. Although he's head disciple and a very good one at that (if only because his Big Brother instincts can't be held back and he MUST interfere to help prevent history repeating once more), Lan Xichen has made it very clear that he would never accept becoming sect leader.
Also don't forget Liu Mingyan in the background writing about a 4 person sex orgy. At least, that's her personal theory for why there's so much UNRESOLVED TENSION between these four sus male disciples. And also, because it's fun.
It's even funner when you consider that Nie Mingjue is out of the loop of Cang Qiong stuff even on Bai Zhan because he tags along on so many of Liu Qingge's missions that he's probably spending like 8 months of the year outside of the sect.
(Nie Huaisang gets "assigned" to missions that happen to take place near Nie Mingjue's hunts.)
Meng Yao is Meng Yao and he still craves the approval of Male Authority Figures That Could be his dad. Also Meng Yao still likes to climb up the social hierarchy and power. AKA Luo Binghe growing mushrooms in the corner at seeing ANOTHER QING JING disciple THE SAME AGE AS HIM being given SO MUCH ATTENTION AND APPROVAL by shizun.
Luo Binghe develops a complex over Meng Yao of course.
(Shen Jiu approves of Meng Yao because he understands these characters very well and know how to manipulate (cough kill or injury them physically or mentally) them easily. Plus Meng Yao is actually competent.)

Namibia building homes from mushroom waste and weeds

“We wanted a new, better way to curtail the housing crisis and a sustainable way to curb the negative effects of the encroacher bush on our environment,” said Magreth Mengo, the head of brand and marketing at Namibia’s Standard Bank. The bank worked with MycoHab – when it was affiliated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the architecture firm Redhouse Studio and the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia (SDFN) – to find a sustainable way to deal with several issues. “This project is a first of its kind and is still very much in the experimental phase but shows a lot of promise,” said Mengo.

“People think the house would smell because the blocks are made of all-natural products, but it doesn’t smell,” says Kristine Haukongo. “Sometimes, there is a small touch of wood, but otherwise it’s completely odourless.” Haukongo is the senior cultivator at the research group MycoHab and her job is pretty unusual. She grows oyster mushrooms on chopped-down invasive weeds before the waste is turned into large, solid brown slabs – mycoblocks – that will be used, it’s hoped, to build Namibian homes.
MycoHab grinds them up and uses them as a substrate on which to grow gourmet oyster mushrooms. When fully grown, the mushrooms are sold to local retailers and the leftover waste is compressed and baked into building materials called mycoblocks, with each slab being made from about 10kg of bush.
“If this technology becomes widespread, we could mitigate much of the more than 300m tonnes of bush the government of Namibia wants to thin,” said Haukongo. “In a normal mushroom farm, the substrate is thrown out or used as compost, but here we turn them into mycoblocks.”

If you live in Southwestern Ontario, black raspberry season is early! Go pick some!

I don't think anything that kills you looks similar; this isn't a mushroom situation. The leaves look like traditional red raspberry leaves but the fruit is not ripe until black. You will know ripeness because they come off easily in your hand. They have a unique taste and they're very yummy!
You have to forage for these since they aren't cultivated. I have found them at the farmer's market occasionally but just go look in a forest, they grow all over the place. They usually thrive in partial sunlight, so near trails but under trees. They make a lovely jam if you get enough or they go well in smoothies or just eat them. Eat them until you dye yourself purple!
(I grew up in the country and I pick these all the time in the city I live in and people look at me like I'm nuts. I'll eat them right in front of someone and offer them one and they look like I'm trying to poison them. It's just a raspberry! I barely even consider myself to be "foraging" they are just berries. Easy to identify and eat.)
Warning: they grow in the same places that mosquitoes like to hang out so wear bugspray. Also the vines are sharp so be careful out there. But it's worth it I promise you.

According to the About Page on his company’s website, Kintan Naik grew up in one of the poorest districts in western India. A born humanitarian, Kintan would fast for days so the other children in the orphanage he grew up in could eat their fill during meals. At age sixteen and desperate to provide for his found family, Kintan fearlessly traveled out into the nearby woods to forage for food. Fortuitously, he was able to find a large collection of mushrooms growing in the shade of a large tree. The dappled light from the sun above obscured the colors of the clusters of mushrooms and in his hunger and excitement, Kintan brought one of the plump, white caps to his lips and took a bite; it was both his greatest mistake and blessing.
In the end Kintan’s NDE allowed him to be able to feed not just his brothers and sisters at the orphanage but the other struggling people around him as well. Community food gardens grew into a thriving mushroom cultivating business that gave both nourishment and employment to the people around him. A born humanitarian, it was a no-brainier that Kintan would become a philanthropist once he accrued a mass of wealth.
Whether this story is one hundred percent true or not is up to debate, but it's not partially advisable that naysayers bring up their issues with Naik or his company in public or forums that can be tied back to them. As if there’s one thing that’s certain is that Kintan Naik has a knack for creating good press and has the sort of good will rarely shown to someone in his tax bracket.

Kintan has absolute power over all types of fungi (mushrooms, mold, yeasts) and as such he can force them to rapidly go through their life cycle from spore to sporing in an instant. He can create/connect to mycelium underground networks and use the fruitbodies of mushrooms as wiretap devices.
His ability to manipulate air borne spores into full grown sporing mushrooms means that he can cause mushrooms to grow into a giant cluster. Mushrooms with toxic spores could be used to create poison clouds (Toxic Spore Bomb). And any spores breathed in/ingested could be forced into rapid growth and suffocate or explode someone from the inside out (Rapid Mushroom Growth/Infestation). He is also hypothetically able to make people ill by causing molds/yeast outbreaks in food/body parts.

“As Sidney Mintz has argued, sugarcane plantations were the model for factories during industrialization; factories built plantation-style alienation into their plans. The success of expansion through scalability shaped capitalist modernization. By envisioning more and more of the world through the lens of the plantation, investors devised all kinds of new commodities. Eventually, they posited that everything on earth-and beyond might be scalable, and thus exchangeable at market values. This was utilitarianism, which eventually congealed as modern economics and contributed to forging more scalability or at least its appearance.
Contrast the matsutake forest: unlike sugarcane clones, matsutake make it evident that they cannot live without transformative relations with other species. Matsutake mushrooms are the fruiting bodies of an underground fungus associated with certain forest trees. The fungus gets its carbohydrates from mutualistic relations with the roots of its host trees, for whom it also forages. There was a farmers market vendor fair in Downtown on Thursday, and this one guy was selling a whole bunch of cultivated and foraged mushrooms. But what really caught my eye is he had several baskets of morels. And I'm like "how the fuck did you do that" he's like "i foraged them", which tracks because morals are notoriously difficult, nigh impossible, to cultivate.
I really regret not buying them because they were only like 15 bucks which for just getting morels handed to you like that is not a bad deal at all.

Psilocybin is a naturally occurring psychedelic prodrug compound produced by more than 200 species of fungi.
The most potent are members of the genus Psilocybe, such as P. azurescens, P. semilanceata, and P. cyanescens, but psilocybin has also been isolated from about a dozen other genera.
Psilocybin is itself biologically inactive but is quickly converted by the body to psilocin, which has mind-altering effects similar, in some aspects, to those of LSD, mescaline, and DMT.
In general, the effects include euphoria, visual and mental hallucinations, changes in perception, a distorted sense of time, and perceived spiritual experiences. It can also cause adverse reactions such as nausea and panic attacks.
In Mesoamerica, the mushrooms had long been consumed in spiritual and divinatory ceremonies before Spanish chroniclers first documented their use in the sixteenth century. In 1959, the Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann isolated the active principle psilocybin from the mushroom Psilocybe mexicana.
Hofmann's employer Sandoz marketed and sold pure psilocybin to physicians and clinicians worldwide for use in psychedelic psychotherapy. Although the increasingly restrictive drug laws of the late 1960s curbed scientific research into the effects of psilocybin and other hallucinogens, its popularity as an entheogen (spirituality-enhancing agent) grew in the next decade, owing largely to the increased availability of information on how to cultivate psilocybin mushrooms.
The intensity and duration of the effects of psilocybin are variable, depending on species or cultivar of mushrooms, dosage, individual physiology, and set and setting, as was shown in experiments led by Timothy Leary at Harvard University in the early 1960s. Once ingested, psilocybin is rapidly metabolized to psilocin, which then acts on serotonin receptors in the brain.
