Jean Grey x Reader

The X Fam Network is running a mutant appreciation challenge and it's Jean week and because I can’t gif or edit for shit this is how I gotta show my love and appreciation for my gf

Lazy evenings like this one are far and few between. You’re sprawled out on your bed, Jean’s head in your lap and the radio playing softly in the background. It’s raining outside and the faint drumming of the rain against the roof and the windows is enough to make you sleepy as you idly card your fingers through Jean’s long red hair.

“I wonder if the cooler weather is gonna be around for long,” she says after a few moments, shifting slightly so she can look at you. “I hope so. The rain is nice.”

You look out at the window, watching as the rain slips down the glass. The grounds are dark and you can’t see much past the faint glow of the mansion, cast by lights in the other windows and the combination of the constant low hum of the rain and the sounds of the mansion as it winds down for the night seems to create a sense of tranquility and stillness that isn’t often found at Xavier’s.

“I dunno. I’d have to ask Ororo to find out,” you remark, your gaze dropping from the window to Jean again as your hand continues to brush through her hair. “The rain’s a bit of a hassle when we have to be outside, though,” you say, and she just laughs.

“Telekinesis, babe. Just ask me for an umbrella next time,” she chuckles and you roll your eyes, even as a grin tugs at your lips.

“Whatever, show off,” you tease her and she smirks up at you.

“You love it,” she quips, and you laugh, letting your hand drift from her hair to cradle her cheek, thumb brushing briefly over hier skin.

“I love it,” you say, voice still teasing but your gaze is soft as you smile down at her. The two of you lapse into a comfortable silence for a few more moments before you sigh in mock regret. “But still. I don’t know what you could do to keep me warm. Y'know. In this cooler weather.” Jean doesn’t say anything and you’re about to inquire about her lack of a smartass retort when suddenly she’s pushing you back against your pillows and shifting to lie over you. There’s a hint of challenge in her eyes as she grins at you, suddenly much much closer than she was a few seconds ago, her long hair hanging around your face.

“I can do plenty to keep you warm, beautiful,” she whispers, and you can’t stop the warm flush that rises to your cheeks as you look up at her, your arms reflexively going around her waist, pulling her closer against you.

“Like what?” You breathe, and the challenge in her eyes is replaced with a rush of want and affection so strong you actually feel it course through from her to you.

“Like this,” she says softly as she leans down to kiss you, and as her lips move against yours, all thoughts of the weather are completely abandoned.
