Radeln, Vögeln, schräge Hütten

Fietsen und strampeln

In Amsterdam „fietst“ man. Man „strampelt“. Beschwingt bahnen sich die Radler ihren Weg vorbei an Grachten und Grasgeruch, sind bald selbst schon high, bis sie zu Fuß weiterlaufen: Benommen aber beschwingt verschwinden sie denn auch in der nächsten Haschwolke. So oder so ähnlich kommt es einem vor, mietet man sich einen der geduldigen Drahtesel, während man seine süßlichen Erfahrungen macht. Klingeln scheint verpönt.

Man radelt und radelt ...

Die Radler tauchen ohne Vorwarnung vor, neben oder hinter einem auf. Den ungeübten Touris werden in den Hotelzimmern neben den obligaten Snacks veritable Fahrradklingeln zum Verkauf angeboten. Auf den Amsterdamer Straßen sind weit mehr Fahrräder unterwegs, als es Einwohner gibt. Unter Tags strampelt man per Dienstrad kreuz und quer durch die Stadt, am Abend kehrt man mit dem Privatrad nach Hause zurück. Am nächsten Tag, das gleiche Spiel. Doppelt gemoppelt.

Auch ich reihe mich in den immerwährenden Fluss der Zweiräder ein. Mein Ziel sind heute die Stadtviertel der Amsterdamer Stadtplaner, Architekten und Raumordner. Ich Vom Leidensplein aus „fietse“ ich einmal rund um die Stadt, entlang der Singelgracht bis zur Windmühle in der Nähe des Tropenmuseums, fahre dann in Richtung Zeeburgerdijk und Panamalaan und lande einigermaßen außer Atem unmittelbar vor dem Bauch eines „Walfisches“ - so heißt der silbrig glänzende Wohngigant, dem riesigen Meeressäuger nicht unähnlich.

Von dort geht’s dann zur „Sporenburg“, kühne Reihenhäuschen aus dunklem Backstein, über die knallrote „Pythonbrücke“, eine, sich vorwitzig übers Wasser züngelnde Stahlbrücke, bis nach „Borneo“, wo ein aufsehenerregendes Bauprojekt zu bestaunen ist: Eigenheime (eine Seltenheit hierzulande), von höchst unterschiedlicher Architekturentwürfe. Die Siedlung ist ein Sammelsurium individueller Bauexperimente.

Weiter geht’s auf die KNSM-Insel (Königlich Niederländischen Schifffahrt-Marine), wo ein gigantisch großer Wohnblock steht, der frappant nach „Otto Wagner“ riecht. Jugendstil at it’s best!

... und schmalen Häusern

Von da bis nach „Java-Island“ am „Sumatrakai“ ist es dann nicht weit. Und auch hier liegen sie nebeneinander, aufgereiht wie auf einer Perlenschnur, die Meisterleistungen urbanen Wohnens: Mietburgen mit begrünten Innenoasen. Vorbei an der sagenhaft schönen „Centrale Oba“ (Stadtbibliothek) und dem, wie ein gestrandeter Frachter daliegenden „NEMO“ (Science Museum) des Stararchitekten Renzo Piano geht’s quer übers Wasser nach „Amsterdam Noord“, zum „Eye“, einem intergalaktischen Raumschiff, das kunstaffinen Cineasten seine Pforten öffnet - das „Kino-Museum“, Geniestreich der österreichischen Architekten Elke Delugan und Roman Meissl.

Ich schwinge ab. Ich habe genug gesehen. Für heute. Morgen komme ich wieder. Was ist das doch für eine erfahrenswerte Stadt, voll von Überraschungen. Zum Beispiel, dass in Amsterdam die erste (und bislang einzige) Fahrrad-Bürgermeisterin der Welt ihren Amtssattel hat Wenn das nicht zumindest eine Reise wert ist!

Die Amsterdamer haben einen ganz schönen Vogel. Und nicht nur einen: Schlendert man durch die grüne Lunge der Stadt, dem Vondelpark, findet man sich, so schnell kann man gar nicht schauen, in einem der riesigen Halsbandsittichschwärme wieder. Wie das? Vor Jahren wurde hier ein Pärchen dieser Art ausgesetzt, das sich auf Grund gutmeinender Fütterung so stark vermehrte, dass heute ganze Stadtviertel am Morgen aus dem Schlaf gerissen werden. Die grünen Krawallmacher nämlich veranstalten in der Dämmerung einen wahrlich ohrenbetäubenden Lärm. Spaziert man also durch den Vondelpark hat man auf der Hut zu sein: Vogelköttel landen schneller am Touri-Kopf als man denkt. A propos Vögeln: Sex ist im Vondelpark ausdrücklich erlaubt, allerdings erst nach Anbruch der Dunkelheit. Um diese Zeit „lebt das Buschwerk“, wie man hier sagt, und die Fußgänger blicken diskret zur Seite. Nur die Hundebesitzer denken nicht daran, ein Auge zuzudrücken. Die Mehrheit der Amsterdamer aber sind nun mal Menschen, und die finden an Artenvermehrung ebenso wenig Verwerfliches, wie die lustigen Flattermänner. Der Vondelpark ist das einzige Grünzeug der Welt, in dem auf Vögeln mehr wert gelegt wird, als auf Hunde.

Was um Herrgotts Willen sind „geschlüpfte“ Gotteshäuser? Antwort: Kirchen, in die man (möglichst ohne Aufsehen) „schlüpft“ – denn die Bethäuser sollten möglichst von außen nicht erkannt werden. Diese seltsame, historische Verordnung geht auf die Zeit der Religionskriege zurück. Zwar galt in Holland seit 1572 die Glaubensfreiheit, dennoch - erlaubt waren damals ausschließlich protestantische Kirchen. Katholiken mussten unter Ausschluss der Öffentlichkeit beten.

Kirchenaufstieg in die versteckte Kirche

Rund fünfunddreißig wohlverborgene Kirchen unterminierten Amsterdam. Zumeist handelte es sich um Privatinitiativen. Heute bestaunt man sie großteils als Museen. Mitten im Rotlichtviertel steht so eine: „Unser lieber Herr am Dachboden“ nennt man sie. Über Hühnerhimmelsleitern erklimmt man sie, treppauf, treppab, bis man erschöpft aber glücklich direkt unterm Dach eines dreigeschossigen (vermeintlichen) Wohnhauses steht. Die Geheimkirche ist vollständig ausgestattet: Altar, Kanzel, Orgel, Apsis… Alles in Originalgröße - von außen aber nicht erkennbar.

We gave successful concert tours from 2004 – 2011, and in 2011 we collaborated with the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ in Amsterdam. We gave a classical concert there with music by Guy Renardeau and a music and singing workshop with a song from the performance for children.

Sverre Fredriksen explores new territories in analog animation and has satisfied a wide range of international clients with his commissioned work. In the short Cloacinae, Sverre developed a new animation technique involving ice and puppets with artist Serge Onnen. Cloacinae premiered at the Rotterdam International Film Festival in 2017 and has been exhibited in art galleries in the Netherlands and China. Human Nature (2019) is Sverre's most recent short film. Guy Renardeau is a multi-award-winning composer and producer for film and television based in The Netherlands and in Maryland (US). After obtaining his master's degree in composition, orchestral arrangement, sound design, piano and guitar from the Hochschule für Music in Kõln, Germany, and the Conservatory in Amsterdam, and film research at the University of Chichester, England, he traveled to several countries in Europe, touring with well-known musicians. He recorded for EMI, Sony and film producers. For a couple of years, he has developed a successful and unique approach to his scores and film music productions, songwriting, games and trailers.

Apollo Kids: From 2004 to 2011, he was the composer and musician in the productions: Brrr; About the Sea, Meh, The 4 Seasons, and Dutch Landscape. Guy was hired as the bandleader. Dr. Jac. P. Thijsse's Hofhouding. Nature education in Bloemendaal. With pictures, photos and film. Lucienne worked as a school counsellor at Thijsse's Hof in Bloemendaal from 2007-2010. She provided nature education to schoolchildren in the oldest native garden in Europe. In this collection, she describes Jac's court with great humour. P. Thijsse. Thijsse is the founder of numerous nature organizations in the Netherlands. He was a teacher, writer of nature books, pioneer, naturalist and conservationist, and was of great significance for nature in the Netherlands.

Window TV. You don't know what you see. With pictures, photos and film. Lucienne lived for a few years (2015-2016) in a farming village in 'the Bathtub of Europe'. The Zeevang polder is on the Markermeer, 30 km north of Amsterdam. A typical Dutch landscape with low skies, windmills and expansive views. The peat meadow area in Laag Holland has been declared a Natura 2000 area. With photos, drawings and stories about villagers, farmers, green city dwellers and 'the things no one knows'. Luciënne's grandfather and aunt had a farm in a village in the southernmost tip of South Limburg, in the Geuldal. She spent much of her childhood there. The landscape where Aunt lived was declared an Iconic Landscape a few years ago. Eli Heimans, Jac's friend. P. Thijsse conducted research there and wrote the book 'Uit our chalk land', 1901. Documentary Do farming villages and farmers in the low peat meadow landscape (Natura 2000 area) in Low Holland still have a future? Guy Renardeau (LA) made a documentary about nature and farmers in the Zeevang Polder (2015-2016), with music by Guy Renardeau. The theme of the documentary is 'enlargement of scale'. How can facilities such as a school and a bus connection, an association for rural women and cultural activities in the reformed church be maintained? He asked this question to a farmer, his wife, and a young man who attended primary school in Ribbon Village, which consists of 500 inhabitants. The young man was in a class with his younger sister. Movie Nostalghia. Andrey Tarkovsky's masterpiece 'Nostalghia' is a film about 'loss'. Guy Renardeau wrote music for this magical black-and-white film (his last) in 2020 during the 'pandemic'. Tarkovsky grew up in the Russian countryside. Stalin and communism destroyed that countryside with its farmers and its wooden houses. This film tells the story of Tarkovsky and his time and tells something about us and our time ('Great Reset'). 'Nostalgia' means longing for that which is definitively gone.

En als kers op de taart zal het festival dit jaar de ongeëvenaarde competitie World Breaking Classic (WBC) presenteren, gehouden op 24 en 25 juni. Met de groeiende populariteit van breakdance, ofwel breaking, op wereldniveau belooft deze editie van WBC een adembenemend evenement te worden, boordevol talentvolle dansers en inspirerende performances. Dit wordt ook weerspiegeld door de historische toevoeging van breaking aan het programma van de komende Olympische Spelen in Parijs. Nederland staat momenteel wereldwijd aan de top van de Breakdance-wereld, met India (16) uit Den Haag als solist wereldkampioen en The Ruggeds uit Eindhoven als crew wereldkampioen. De vraag is nu: wie zal dit jaar de overwinning behalen in de spannende 2 tegen 2 battles tijdens WBC? World Finals met 8 beste dansers ter wereld Op de zondag worden acht van de meest unieke en invloedrijke dansers uitgenodigd voor de World Finals, waar ze vlak voor het evenement begint willekeurig worden samengevoegd tot duo's. Ze zullen het opnemen tegen de Challengers die een van de tien Wereldwijde Kwalificaties hebben gewonnen, of die zich hebben weten te bewijzen tijdens de Last Chance Cypher, die plaatsvindt op de dag voorafgaand aan de Wereldfinale in het Klokgebouw in Eindhoven. Een bezoek aan een dansvoorstelling, circusact of concert is er niets bij. Je zult hier dingen zien die je gegarandeerd nergens anders tegenkomt, en dat allemaal op ongekend hoog niveau! WK Breakdance Sinds vorig jaar maakt World Breaking Classic deel uit van het Jams & Gems Festival, een gratis weekendfestival georganiseerd door The Ruggeds.
