Fav character…oh boy. That is tough. Ill just list the ones that come to the top of my head-

Alef: Grow, Soap, Glowing, Like the Dawn, On the Mountain Tall by The Oh Hellos. You Were There from Ico also catches his vibe. Theres Through Heaven’s Eyes from The Prince of Egypt, Once Upon a December from Anastasia… I also gave him this song specifically when thinking about how he fights. (Its Iris’s battle theme from Pokemon, but its a remix) and okay, ik this is kinda cheating, but Overture from the official Sky ost really makes me think of him.

Resh (theyre the same as above but a different time) : The Fall, by Christopher Tin. Boreas, Soldier Poet King, Second Child Restless Child, by the Oh Hellos. This dude is just Oh Hellos apparently. I loved it.

Some thoughts immediately after finishing:

Best part: Aziraphale and Crowley, shocker

Perfect casting

Much as I like Tennant I was wary at first because he’s doing a voice that sounds very similar to when he was in Doctor Who and I thought he might end up coming across as sort of ‘Ten, but slightly grumpier’, plus I was sort of attached to Peter Serafinowicz from the radio drama version. Needn’t have worried. He couldn’t have been more Crowley

Never doubted Sheen and he still exceeded my expectations

I think they’re somehow even more in love than they were in the book

Episode 3 was my favourite because BACKSTORY and was also my favourite bit of new content (but I liked pretty much all the other new stuff too)

I wish ‘To the world’ hadn’t been in the trailer

But, of course, other characters exist!

Shadwell and Tracy were always the least interesting to me, but they were done super well, both in writing and acting. I actually found them and their relationship more compelling than I did in the book

Helps that Shadwell is no longer a casual racist

Newt and Anathema were also very well cast. Could have done with slightly more time dedicated to their relationship, but not a dealbreaker for enjoying their part in the story at all

I don’t think the Them are ever actually referred to as such in the show? But I loved them all very much

There were a few things I thought oddly handled, like how it felt like they’d switched Wensleydale and Brian’s Horseman roles, and then changed their minds the last minute? Also while I am not at all opposed to Pepper being an active feminist… I didn’t think they did the best job with those particular lines to be honest

But some really good child acting on their parts

LOVED War. LOVED Famine. LOVED Pollution. Did not love Death. Death talked too quickly and was too dramatic and too… invested in what was going on is the only way I can think to put it? It felt very wrong. Least favourite part.

And they cut the Elvis joke?!?!!

Gabriel was wonderful and I honestly forgot he wasn’t in the original he was so well integrated

I spotted one Discworld reference. I expect there were probably more that I missed

But going back to the favs - I really really liked that we got even more scenes with, and that they chose to end on, Crowley and Zira. Their relationship - even if you don’t ship it because you enjoy being wrong or something* - is the strongest and most compelling of any in this story and honestly, in quite a lot of others as well. Not to mention their individual personalities. For, I think, the majority of fans, they’re the most memorable part of Good Omens and represent everything it’s about, and so to see that recognised and further explored was fantastic

There’s a scene in Heaven where you can juuuust spot someone in the background on a hover board, and that’s so perfectly silly that I had to pause it for a moment because it was making me laugh too much

*(I wrote this the day the show came out, and in the year and a half since then my opinion on platonic interpretation of the pairing has changed significantly - I’m not deleting that bit because I like having this record of my old views, but I don’t want anyone coming across this and thinking that aligns with my current opinions)

1.Supernatural. Castiel.

Obviously. I may be out of the fandom now, but I’ve never loved a character as much as Cas, and probably never will.

2. Good Omens. Aziraphale.

Thought I’d put both my darling angels at the top :) I suspect that without Zira there to pave the way Castiel may not even have existed, so I love him double - for himself and for Cas as well :p 

While really quite different when it comes to their personalities (just think how Zira would SHUDDER at Cas’ trenchcoat), they share a lot of character traits and tropes (mini-series!Zira anyway, maybe less so in the book, or less obviously anyway), so, no surprise that I should adore them both. I’ve also said before, and I stand by it, that Aziraphale is sort of a combination of my favourite aspects of both Cas and Dean in one, with Cas’ struggle with Heaven/god and trying to be a good angel and finding he loves humanity/earth more, plus Dean’s whole ‘performing Dean’ thing and repression of queer feelings he is scared to admit to (out loud) because he believes they are somehow ‘wrong.’ 

...just to give a little insight into my feelings about these two that was neither needed nor asked for...

4. Hellblazer. NBC Constantine. Legends of Tomorrow. John Constantine. 

Aaaand the other guy I love twice because Cas, and indeed spn in general, kinda owe their existence to him. Though in turn his fabulous live action portrayal by Matt Ryan probably owes its existence to spn and Castiel’s popularity. So... there’s a weird ouroboros situation happening with my favs here that makes my head spin whenever I think about it, but I love it - stories within stories built on stories feeding off stories, which connects to wider themes of story and storytelling being vital and intrinsic to life and stuff.

Anyway, despite his wardrobe, Johnny is NOTHING LIKE CAS. He is, in fact, a lot like Dean. But I like him more. Maybe because he’s British :p He has the whole ‘repressing his feelings’ things, a bit like Zira, but it’s not because he thinks they are wrong, it’s more of a coping mechanism to deal with the constant tragedy/trauma his life/lifestyle/fate causes him to suffer. But whatever the reason, I like my characters facing that struggle :) (actually the British element is probably way more significant to my enjoyment of him than I’ve been fully aware of... that’s probably why I loved Zira so fast as well... obviously they are both a completely different class of British, literally, but the fact they ARE British is INTRINSIC to both their characters, and I guess a little, vaguely patriotic part of me is excited by that... :p)

4. Gotham. Edward Nygma.

Since I’ve started giving explanations - I love Eddie because he’s also got the whole ‘emotionally repressed’ / out of touch with (his) emotions thing going on (as seen in Zira and Cas), but with the addition of various geeky / ‘tech guy’ character traits that I also love.

5. Doctor Who (Classic). Vislor Turlough.

I waxed poetic once about how I liked Gotham’s Edward Nygma because he reminded me a bit of Turlough. That was early on in my Gotham days though and given how Eddie developed I don’t see as many similarities now. Turlough shares some of Eddie’s ‘dark’ traits however - self-centered, often lacking in empathy for others and nonplussed (sometimes even happy) to see them get into trouble or hurt. But ultimately his attempts to be self-serving and cowardly end up thwarted by him developing feelings for specific individuals despite his best efforts, which is what I enjoy about him (and actually that’s a lot like Eddie still, huh... their endgame’s are opposing though ofc - while Eddie goes on to embrace being a villain, Turlough gives up on villainy and even becomes a bit of a hero, now and then). Plus, Turlough is the ONLY Companion (IIRC?) to have joined the Doctor specifically in order to MURDER him and... idk, I just think that’s cool :P

6. Doctor Who (New). Donna Noble.

(I’m trying not to double up on fandoms/shows so I can cover more, but New and Classic Who count as different things, kinda, right...?)

Donna doesn’t really fit any of the character traits I’ve talked about above, though I guess her low self-esteem is something that all my other favs share in various ways (though it’s not such an EXPLICIT aspect of their characters and story arcs as it was for Donna I’d say). What I first loved about her was that after YEARS of New companions (and other randoms) being literally in love with the Doctor, she had a strictly platonic relationship with him. Yeah, I think maybe the show was a bit heavy-handed about it, but even so it came as a huge breath of fresh air and frankly a RELIEF to me. Not that I’m opposed to the Doctor having romantic/sexual  relationships, it was just that... coming from a childhood love of the Classic series where that just... didn’t happen (save a fleeting kiss in the TV Movie - which I actually enjoyed fyi!), it just... idk, was starting to stretch my credulity that EVERYONE seemed to be falling for him maybe? Or at least for me it was growing tiresome. So the fact she didn’t have that element to her character/story was a plus. Then I just adore how loud and brash she is when calling anyone, including the Doctor, out on their shit (I envy her that maybe). Plus I like the way she isn’t... traditional TV pretty, you know? (ie. young and slim, like a lot of other companions).

...or maybe I just like redheads *shrug emoji* 

7. Spartacus. Naevia.

(she has two actresses okay? and they both deserve kudos!)

Truth is I love FUCKING EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE IN THIS SHOW. Spartacus is like... my PERFECT SHOW. There isn’t a single moment, a single plotline, a single character that I don’t enjoy. I have never even CONSIDERED looking up or writing fic because the finished product is completely satisfying exactly as it is. God. But I wanted it represented in this list so I had to pick someone!

Considering the time period there couldn’t really BE a ‘geeky, emotionally repressed with low self-esteem’ character :p BUT nearly ALL of the characters have the whole ‘struggle to understand/discover who they are’ thing and the ‘who I am and want to be is counter to who I’ve been told I am / should be’ arc, on account of the main cast being rebelling slaves (though the other characters are equally complex and compelling and I love them too - Lucy Lawless in particular is incredible!). Anyone who’s seen me blog about the show before might have thought I’d pick either Agron or Nasir as my favs, since I do like to squee over their romance. But whenever I think about the show it’s usually Naevia who I remember first, because her character arc/development just BLEW ME AWAY. She went from someone I’d kinda dismissed at first as a typical het love interest to a WARRIOR GODDESS and you SEE all the key moments of that growth, you FEEL it, it makes ALL THE SENSE. And her romance with Crixus, which again I was initially a bit dismissive of as a typical, sudden, weak het romance, grows into, imo, one of the deepest, most developed, most believable love stories in the show. So yeah. Naevia. Amazing.

8. Due South. Ray Vecchio. 

(he’s the guy not the dog - gifs were limited! ...also the dog is actually a wolf, it’s a whole thing... that doesn’t need exploring at this juncture)

Ray was my first TV crush :P He had a bit of a sidekick vibe to him I guess, which I like (lead characters tend not to interest me as much). He wasn’t ‘geeky’ exactly, but he def had the ‘trying to look/act cooler than I am’ thing going on... also an obsessive attachment to his vintage car... meanwhile his partner Benny was the stoic, ‘British, stiff upper lip, keep emotions in check’ one who was always trying to live up to the ideal persona dictated by his people/employers, in this case the Royal Canadian Mounted Police... HUH, so... it’s actually SUPER WEIRD that I ended up loving Cas and Zira over Dean and Crowley when it seems pretty clear suddenly that my first big fictional fav was CLEARLY the Dean-Crowley to Benny’s Cas-Zira......?? Ray was FUNNY in a way Dean and Crowley aren’t though, I think? He def filled a ‘comic relief’ slot on the regular and I liked that a lot (it also made his serious, angsty moments EXTRA serious and angsty, and extra angst is something I always love!)

9. The Librarians. Eve Baird.

Remember this little show? It was... is... sorta ridiculous. Not amazing. Based on some... very cheap, very OBVIOUS Indiana Jones rip-off films, that were also ridiculous and... not... great (the third one is the best, with an awesome performance by Stana Katic aka Kate Beckett as a vampire, but I digress). But... idek, I am EXTREMELY FOND of the series for some reason :p

There are a WHOLE BUNCH of characters that fit my ‘type’ more than Eve tbh... in fact... probably every.single.other.main.cast.member (save perhaps Jenkins?) shares the traits above that typically make a character my fav. But... EVE! I just... think she’s neat! ...maybe it’s BECAUSE all the others are main/lead characters that makes me gravitate towards her? In a cast where ‘geeky, socially awkward, struggles with emotions’ is the norm, Eve being the no-nonsense, socially competent, badass soldier type therefore becomes different and thus more interesting to me? Also, much like with Donna, I appreciate that she’s an older woman who gets to have a full character and plot of her own. There’s also something about her romance with Flynn that... makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

10. Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Jonathan Levinson.

Listen. Look. Okay. Buffy is pretty old school these days so, for anyone not in the know, as a character, originally, Jonathan... he wasn’t even a side character, he wasn’t even REOCCURRING, he was barely a background character. For several episodes he didn’t have a name and it wasn’t until several seasons after he became ‘Jonathan’ that he actually got a surname. Danny Strong was just an actor who happened to be occasionally on-hand when the script called for a random to have a line, until eventually that happened often enough for Joss to think ‘hey, you know what, let’s make this guy an actual part of the show...’ 

He got a couple of episodes focused on him in S03 and S04 respectively, but didn’t become a regular until S06 (and wasn’t in S05 AT ALL). Other than that he had a HANDFUL of ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ moments here and there, not even full scenes for the most part, usually lasting no longer than the above gif.

I tell you all this so that when I say childhood me (well... somewhere between 12 and 14 years anyway) was OBSESSED with this character in the show, and I mean O B S E S S E D (to the point of spending hours painstakingly making VHS recordings purely of the episodes he was in), you understand how UTTERLY BIZARRE that was. Because this obsession pre-dated S06. Was, in fact, in full swing during the airing of his S04 episode - which was, like, a fucking DREAM COME TRUE for freakily obsessed me fyi, because the whole episode was constructed with him as the LEAD CHARACTER, because he’d performed a spell to make him super awesome. They even changed the title sequence to read ‘Jonathan’ instead of Buffy! And while other fans were no doubt just lol-ing at the random I was bouncing about on my sofa all ‘MY TIME HAS COME!’ and fucking SWOONING over seeing MY CHARACTER suddenly in the spotlight and getting to do crazy fun OOC shit like this -

Then when S06 rolled around and HE WAS A LEGIT REGULAR, omg, I was in HEAVEN! First TV boxset I ever bought that - Buffy S06 :P

So... yeah. A bit of a fav. Geeky. Outcast. Slowly grows more morally grey, what with that spell I mentioned and also the fact he was teamed with the ANTAGONISTS in S06. I guess you could say he was the beginning of a lot of my fav fictional character traits/tropes (though looking back - I think his ‘villainous’ teammates in S06, Andrew and Warren, are more my ‘type’ these days, and I did end up loving Andrew especially a whole damn lot, but at the time I’d been a Jonathan fangirl for so.fucking.long. there was just no chance anyone else in the show was ever gonna come close to my heart!)

I'm having an allergic reaction and my face hurts so much. So now I'm thinking about Zira and Crowley panicking because Warlock ate something and now his face looks like a red balloon. They would probably just aparate in the hospital without care if humans saw them.(Question though. What do you think their family name -after they adopted Warlock- would be?)

Oh god i can totally see Az and Crowley panicking over Warlock having an allergic reaction to something. Az would totally fret over him and Crowley would try to keep everything under control, but he’s not doing a very good job at it. Also, because of the fact that they never have to deal with human illnesses and all that jazz, they probably wouldn’t know what to do until Warlock tells them to get him to a hospital. And in all that chaos, they just aparate there and miraculously no one sees them just appear out of thin air.

Then, once Warlock is fine again and the doctor tells them what they’re supposed to do in the future, they’re outside waiting for a taxi because Warlock refuses to let them aparate him back to their place.

“I am human and we are doing this the human way! I only feel more sick after you guys do that.”

“It was an emergency, my boy,” Aziraphale would say, standing closer than necessary to Warlock. “We didn’t know what to do.”

“It’s fine,” Warlock would sigh. “Just remember that I’m not a supernatural creature like you and that I’m not made for stuff like that.”

That would finally make Crowley smile and, before Aziraphale could remind Warlock that they aren’t supernatural creatures, he’d say, “You’re right, but you are more special than most humans.”

hejxjibevei I just love the idea that Crowley is softer around Warlock and that he is Crowley’s favorite (which is okay bc Adam is Aziraphale’s fav). And Warlock finally getting the love and attention every kid deserves makes me want to lie down and cry. Just... them being a family hits me right in the feels 😭😭

As for their family name I think it would be Fell-Crowley or smth like that. I actually considered Crowley-Fell but, wel, that hits too close to home

hello az! gonna answer your asks in order, so don’t worry, more answers coming!! all your asks have come through as far as i know! it’s taken me some more time to answer just cause i want these answers to be like. the best i can type out haha (and i have a weird sleep schedule, and schedule in general, which doesn’t always help). but what i’m saying is that i’m never ignoring you!!!! just trying to give good responses haha. and i know i’ve said it like five times already but you’re always welcome in my inbox, to talk about whatever you wanna talk about!! and stay on anon as long as you’d like, seriously, i want you to be comfortable talking to me, and if being on anon helps i’m glad, because i still get to talk with you!

as for headcannons, here’s some of my favs!

- when crowley sleeps alone, he sprawls out as much as he can. he also rolls around alot. (like, if he’s in a queen sized bed or bigger you can almost pretend he’s the arms on a clock and the bed is the clock. i’m gonna doodle it in a bit!!) 

- HOWEVER. i hc that along w/ his eyes that remained, crowley is also still partly (at the least, could be fully) cold blooded. so when he sleeps with az he gets as close to az as physically possible cause az is warm and crowley is cold. so when az wakes up he’s ALWAYS entangled fully with crowley cause crowley is trying to get as close to az, as well as the heat he produces. 

- while crowley tends to not always be the nicest, and looks down more often on more classical art, he enjoys young artists’ and works from fan culture, and will occasionally leave supportive anonymous comments on the work. (he prefers these types of work because he thinks it’s less stuck up and boring)

- aziraphale is a beautiful singer and pianist!

- crowley knows how to play bass guitar and regular guitar. he also writes songs occasionally. (he’s found that music is one of the more fun things to do when you’re immortal and bored out of your skull) 

- sometimes, crowley will head over to az’s bookshop and write songs while az reads

- crowley gave aziraphale the gold ring he wears! 

- aziraphale gives crowley books that he thinks crowley would like. crowley always reads them, and has an ever-growing pile of books next to his bed that aziraphale reccomends

- crowley makes playlists for aziraphale, and brings his phone and speaker to  them (az has a vinyl player and thats it) whenever they are just chilling at az’s bookshop, because az doesn’t have a way to play them. (az buys vinyls of all the songs on the playlist and plays them during the day) (a good half of the songs are queen) 

- crowley has trouble expressing emotions verbally, and prefers to show love physically and through actions, like little gifts for az and being very cuddly and physically affectionate to get his emotions across

- sometimes aziraphale just. tries to do the gavotte when he’s bored and alone. emphasis on tried, because it’s hard to do the gavotte solo, in a cluttered bookshop

- despite loving food, it took a really long time for aziraphale to master cooking.

I’ve seen many post going around comparing these and I though it best to add my views coming from somebody who’s been trash for TLK since I was a child. I probably know  more about these movies than I do my own family.

I want to start off by comparing the difference/opposites between the two, because there are many.

If we are saying that Kovu is Kylo, and Kiara is Rey then the family and living situations are very different and I would say opposites of each other but it’s not like the writers decided to base Reylo on TLK 2 ;)

To start with Kiara is the princess of this story (unlike Rey) she has a good family, and could want for nothing since the pridelands is full of life. Despite having an over protective father (which I wont go into because that’s a whole other TLK meta of its own) and  pair of baby sitter that leave her with hardly any time on her own shes got a very good family structure and constant support.

Kovu on the other-hand is in the outlands where food is scarce unless you count the bugs, he has his mother and half siblings (though this is still questionable) his family aren’t very caring or kind and live their entire loves on the basis of killing Kiara’s father so that can live in the pridelands. (Though this is down to Scar previously ruling it, I feel like its a good comparison to the First Order seeking to rule the galaxy much like the Empire had)

These are two very different backgrounds to how Rey/Kylo grew up, and although we don’t know every detail, I can safely say that Kylo was more likely to have grown up being treated like a prince (up until going to Jedi school) and Rey grew up with practically nothing and surviving on false ideas.

The first Meeting;

Similar to how things took place in TFA, Kovu and Kiara first meet up when they’ve both gone far from everybody else. Kiara was practically running away from her home, much in the same way Rey was running form the light saber and those visions. Kovu makes himself seem like the big bad but he doesn’t actually try to hurt Kiara (especially since she doesn’t exactly lie down and play dead, but unlike Rey she doesn’t try to fight back until he provokes her.)  They then end up falling into a crocodile nest and have to run for their lives which I like to link to the fact that the area where Maz’s castle was is currently being destroyed by the on-going battle. Though unlike Kylo, Kovu still hasn’t received his scar. Also baby Kiara flirts with Kovu.

Despite both of them being reprimanded for this, (although in Reys case it turned into a rescue mission) Zira twists the situation in Kovu using this as a way to get closer to killing Simba (with this epic musical number), like Snoke deciding that Kylo should “bring him the girl”. Unlike in TFA they’re both children and leave unlike Kylo keeping Rey on Starkiller for info on Luke’s map (which i’m still annoyed by, I mean if they had most of the map surely they’d be able to locate what the missing piece was by flying around the galaxy right?)

The “second” meeting

Zira orchestrates a plan to set fire to the pridelands, using all her children to follow her bidding (i’d say these would be Hux and Phasma, but comparing with to Nuka would be mean, Vitani on the other-hand is great) when Kiara is about to taker her hunting exam (I guess there’s no better way to describe it) having set up Kovu to rescue her and win Simba’s favor. And it works.

Kovu saves Kiara and then she gets very mad because he ruined her hunting exam and better yet she doesn’t remember him. So despite the plan working out in this movie, nothing like this happens in TFA, but you could compare this to the force-bond moments within TLJ.

Now this is where my opinion differs from most of the fan-base, since everybody likes to talk about the pond scene (which I’ll cover later) but if you want to split up the new SW trilogy within this movie, than I’d say that the childhood sections are TFA, the bulk of the movie would be TLJ, which leaves barely anything for the next movie other than my hopes for the direction Reylo will take.

So at this point, I’m comparing the entire time Kovu spends with Kiara at pride rock like the force bonding moments, because this is tuning point for Kovu. His head had been filled with his mothers opinions on Simba only for them to all change while he’s with them. This is also when Kiara and Kovu start to fall for each-other. I don’t think I need to say much about this since I’ll just add the pics because they speak for themselves.

This all leads up to the “There is is” moment - the touch. (Simba see’s this and really isn’t happy *cough*like Luke*cough*) But then they get a romanic musical number so its OK. Alternately you can listen to Kylo and Rey’s themes.

Obviously after this nothing goes right. Simba just starting to accept Kovu invites him out for a chat when Zira and her pride of lion (Or the First Order party) turn up and attack Simba sparking the basis for the war. Zira essentialy calling Kovu a traitor gives him his scar.

Where Simba banishes Kovu - Luke breaking the connection between Rey and Kylo. From here the pair don’t really see each-other because Kovu’s run off finding “nowhere” for him to belong, where he see’s a reflection of Scar in the water. Which I like to think would be like Kylo looking at his mask and finally seeing that he shouldn’t be like Vader. Kiara decides to go after him, because love, she re-visits all the places they went together. This is like the scene where Rey puts herself in the pod just to see Kylo and bring Ben back.

Its this scene that makes me think of then Rey looking into the mirror (or whatever it is) because I think in the way that It appears that Kylo is in the mirror before she looks at herself is trying to show us that Kylo’s part of her, and that Rey is only one half of the force.  In this scene Kiara is looking at the water feeling like half of herself is missing, and that half is Kovu.

The “final” meeting

In true movie fashion in TLK the reunion is a dramatic run toward each-other before they embrace. How I wish we had a real hug in TLJ. This leads up to the Reylo fan-favs “We are one” and “Let’s run away together and start a pride, all our own” yup, classic.

Unlike Kylo and Rey, this conversation happens before the fight. But it still has the same impact of Rey telling Kylo they can’t leave, they have to fix the problem and actually unite the galaxy, while Kiara has smaller plans of just uniting both prides. This is where I’d cut off the comparisons with TLJ. Despite the fact that Kylo ad Rey do fight together and take down the guards, I think that the battle at the end of TLK2 could be more fitting for the next movie installment.

Now this section is purely me speculating about the next movie based on TLK2 but I’m just going to roll with it.

I don’t see any reason for Kylo and Rey’s force bond to weaken at all (despite the soul crushing door closing scene) so I think they’ll still be able to communicate which will mostly be Rey trying to bring back “Ben” and Kylo just trying to get her. Now if Kylo can locate Rey she cant stay with the resistance meaning that Kylo could follower her somewhere else for them to have their own version of a reunion (though without a romantic musical number, but love will find a way!) If Rey can truly make Kylo see  that together then can save the galaxy we might just get to see them stop a huge battle between whats left of the resistance and the FO. They could finally end the SW story on a good note, of a galaxy united, with both the dark side and the light in balance.

Disney/Non-Disney Questions (Strictly Animated- you’re about to see how sad I am when it comes to animated films)

1. Scene you wish you could live out? Ooooh I love the idea of seeing Atlantica in person so probably the first scene of the Little Mermaid where all the mermaids are swimming into the castle. 

 2. Do you prefer CGI or Hand/Cell Animation? HAND/CELL ALL THE WAY!!! There is just... an endearing quality to the original hand/cell animation style of movies that I adore. It has a personality. Plus, the contrast of the painted background and the hand-drawn characters is so wonderfully nostalgic and captivating. Furthermore, hand/cell animations takes a tremendous amount of work in comparison to CGI which, whilst I understand why Disney does it CGI now because of it, it makes me feel like I’m watching something with more heart in it because of all the time, sweat and soul that went into it. I could honestly go on and on about hand/cell animation but I shall leave it there. Yes. Hand/Cell Animation will always be my preference. 

 3. Which fairytale would you like to see animated next? Hans Christian Anderson’s The Wild Swans immediately springs to mind. 

 4. Favourite voice actress? I’m terribly torn between Jodi Benson and Liz Callaway. I just... I can’t choose! I mean, Jodi Benson was singing/voice acting for both Thumbelina and Ariel (two of my favs). And then Liz Callaway singing/voice acting for Odette, and then singing for both Anastasia and Kiara. How do I choose?!?!?!

  5. Favourite voice actor? Has to be John Cusack for me, Dimitri’s voice in Anastasia just melts me and I could listen to it all day. An extremely close second is Gary Imhoff who voiced Prince Cornelius but Dimitri’s voice just gets to me whenever I hear it. 

 6. Favourite first meeting scene? I want to say Ariel and Eric but it’s hard to say which one counts as their first official meeting... so, I’ll say Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, that whole scene is just pure gold. 

 7. Mention one Disney related thing that can always cheer you up, no matter how sad you are (scene, song, character, movie etc.): The song “Why Should I Worry” from Oliver and Company never fails to make me smile. Such a classic catchy song.

 9. Which scene/s always makes you cry? Oh man, I’m a big cry baby when it comes to movies so I have a few but I’ll name my main ones. Like the ones where I really ball like an idiot. 

- Fox and the Hound: when Widow Tweed takes Tod into the woods. 

- Thumbelina: a few scenes honestly- when Thumbelina wishes she were big and felt all alone in the world, when Thumbelina is told that Cornelius is dead and when Thumbelina and Cornelius finally find each other.

- Dumbo: when Dumbo finds his mother and cuddles her before he has to leave her again. That entire scene kills me.  

- Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron: when Rains gets shot. 

- TInkerbell and the Legend of the Neverbeast: when the fairies take Gruff into his cave to go into hibernation for a thousand years (I am not joking one bit when I say that I cried at this for half an hour solid). 

- Anastasia: when the Empress and Anya realise that they are indeed family 

- Lion King: you know the fucking scene... 

 10. Favourite Duet (romantic in particular)? It’s an absolute tie between Let Me Be Your Wings sung by Thumbelina and Prince Cornelius, and Far Longer Than Forever sung by Derek and Odette. Whilst there are many great Disney duets, none quite do it for me as much as these two. In my personal opinion, these two perfectly define what a duet should be. They all harmonise beautifully with the other, they use different pronouns sung together, they each have their own part as well as singing together, the lyrics are exquisite... I honestly am such a fan of these songs. If you’re curious, a second place option to this would be If I Never Knew You from Pocahontas (both the pop version and the original version that was cut from the first version of the movie). 

11. A couple you wish had sung a duet together? Ariel and Eric. Whilst they did sing together very briefly in Little Mermaid 2, they never got an official duet. I mean, I know Eric didn’t sing at all in the first one but I don’t know... I would have loved to have them sing together. 

 12. An underrated duet? I mean, my favourite duets are honestly very underrated, but I’ve already mentioned them. So… I feel like Looking Through Your Eyes sung by Kayley and Garrett is extremely underrated as everyone thinks of The Prayer when they think of Quest for Camelot.

 13. Name your top three Disney princes/male protagonists: Prince Eric, Flynn Rider aaaaaaand Kovu.

 19. If you were to marry a female/male protagonist, who would you choose? Before, my answer would have been Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid, but now my answer would be undeniably Prince Cornelius. And here is why. When it comes to Thumbelina, nothing is more important. He literally endeavours the harshness of autumn and winter to find her when she’s been kidnapped, and he never stops for one second. The only way he was stopped was when he was forced into water by the wind and was frozen alive. And even, as soon as he’s been melted free, he immediately goes to find her and fight for her. Like, you have to admire that utter devotion and dedication. And when he is with Thumbelina, he takes care of her in every way possible. If you watch him during their duet Let Me Be Your Wings, you’ll see that he always makes sure to have a hold of her when they’re flying. Like when Thumbelina bends down to run her fingers through the water, he has his arm around her waist to hoist her. He lifts her onto the boat where the Toad lives. He catches her when she falls (yes I know that’s a meme where he sings that he’ll never let her fall and then she does but the whole point of that damn part is that, when she does fall, she falls with no fear because Cornelius catches her the next second). He’s so attentive with her and the way he loves her name is just so cute. Also, I really love how he made sure Thumbelina’s mother was looked after by Hero the dog. He is so kind, heroic, skilful and loving. But then he is also funny, cocky (in the nice way), sarcastic, a cutely clumsy sometimes, and has a slight rebellious streak that is so god damn attractive. I mean, he loves flying and literally misses royal events and princely duties to fly around the world. Plus, he literally flies on his bumblebee, Buzzbee, like a motorbike, if that ain’t a badass fairy, I don’t’ know what is. You definitely can’t say he’s boring at all. Okay, that’s covering his personality kinda. Going into physical traits, he is of course extremely handsome. I have always been a sucker for red hair (and now my best friend thinks he is the original reason why). Green eyes… I mean, come on. A damn heart-melting smile and smirk. His speaking voice is as wonderful as his singing, including a hypnotising soft-spoken voice when he gets close with Thumbelina. He’s great with a sword. He shows that he’s good at dancing. And if I got anything from that last five minutes, it’s that he looks like he’s a great kisser. Like the passion in that kiss (for an animation too) is something I’ve never forgotten. He’s not overly muscular but has muscles for sure, but it’s in a slender form. And… you know… he’s a fairy. A fairy prince! I realise I really got into this answer but I really do feel like Prince Cornelius gets overlooked and… ugh, I just love him.

 29. How often do you watch an animated movie? At least twice a week. I’m legitimately watching Thumbelna as we type this and it’s the fifth time I’ve watched it in the last week and a half. Besides Horror, Disney/Non-Disney is my favourite film genre.

 30. What animated movies have taught you? To always believe in magic, to be kind even when no-one else is, and that there is nothing wrong with loving animated movies as an adult, animation is for everyone.

 BONUS Q: 31. An animated movie that everyone needs to go and watch right now: Hunchback of Notre Dame, I’ll guarantee that you haven’t seen it in a long time and you are missing out one of Alan Menken’s greatest achievements in his musical career and beautiful story with a powerful message.
