Wanted to see what the feedback on the latest Sims 4 update was so I went to the Sims forum and. They're taking down the 14yo forums at the end of the month apparently?? And replacing them with a really bad almost unusable EA forum thing?? Devastated. I understand that the forums were barely holding on and that the site is old, but the replacement is absolutely not high quality enough for any kind of community, let alone one the size and importance of the Sims community.

#and personally i can't believe it because that's how i got into the game in the first place #reading people's buckwild stories on inadequate forum threads #that was probably one of the worst ways to tell a story and those people did it and did it in a fun way #and it made me want to play the game so so much because they looked like they were having the time of their lives #and it's all going down barely archived in a few days #they're archiving like two years back! for a game a decade old!!#and let's not even mention the sims 3 side #i don't think anyone on this website is going to get my very specific plight because it's such a niche experience #like if i mention names no one was lurking the sims 4 french forum reading about the komcépié legacy in 2015 here #but i was. i sure was and it was my childhood and i hate being confronted with the fact that everything disappears one day #the way there's few conservation efforts for online stuff that was important to a small number of people #anyway. this too shall pass but in a bad way this time. why must it pass.#wow i have a ramble tag now

#so my brother found a box full of documents #from when some semi-distant relative was researching family geneaology #and all my time reading old letters on the loc website came in handy #because it meant i could decipher the handwritten document #of my great-great-grandfather's life story #and read it for everyone as we hung out before family sunday dinner #and the pressure is now on for all the unmarried family members #we've got a legacy to live up to with courtship stories #it seems my great-great-grandfather came to america after a failed engagement #a few years later he met a girl and her parents outside of church #the father hired him to work on his farm #three days later the girl rode with him in a wagon somewhere on some farm business #and she was like 'i've been thinking about you day and night since i first saw you and this is our first chance to speak alone'#and she was like 'we should get married' and he agreed and they shook hands #though they did wait until the next sunday to formalize the engagement #they waited three months to ask for her father's blessing #which they got #they got married two months later #and were married for 35 years #until the morning of the day they were scheduled to take their first out-of-state trip #(he was excited to give her a chance to travel after a life of knowing only home and work)#and he woke up to find her dead beside him #he was writing this not long after and you can tell he was heartbroken #so the marriage was clearly successful #so anyway my one brother was like 'now i feel unsuccessful. i've never found a woman who wanted to marry me after three days'#and my married brother told all us unmarried ones that he expects us to be engaged by next week #clearly it can be done #and anyway it's so interesting to know the details #after only vaguely knowing this guy's name

Also in the replies of the Steph concept art on twitter announcing she was gonna be in a new project at DC (posted by Travis Mercer), there were at least 3 comments saying "will Tim be there?" I don't care how hard you ship timsteph I'm exploding you with my eyeballs if you do that on my girls post again

#ramblings of a lunatic #taking a step back to acknowledge that my stanning may be getting overzealous #but then again I'm not in ppls quotes or replies I'm vagueing on an entirely different website with no relevant tags. it could be worse #anyway I know tims had it rough these past couple of months ever since zdarsky shifted focus of the batman title to have less tim #but it still feels. idk. just a wee bit uninspired to act like steph can't go two steps without tim being behind her #im ngl i like timsteph when they're cute but timsteph twitter has been. pissing me off a tad lately #the refusal to acknowledge the sexism in dixons robin run and how it impacts stephs writing and their relationships writing #the refusal to acknowledge tims occasional condescension and hypocrisy when it comes to stephs vigilantism #seemingly only wanting her to be spoiler when he wants her around and telling her to give it up most of the time #also the constant disrespect of stephs batgirl era on there weirdly enough?#I've harped on about this on main and in drafts but despite it's flaws it's a good turn for stephs character #she's the focus she gets development (an upward trajectory! which had previously been unheard of for her! bc she did have flaws as spoiler-#-its just that both writers and characters alike seemed to arbitrarily decide she didn't have the capacity to grow past them! but she did!)#hell i saw a BIZARRE take today i just have to bitch about #which was them saying that Batgirl was a ''heteronormative mask'' steph put on #with spoiler being her more authentic self (and this being paralleled to gender expression with stephs isolation from the batfam as spoiler-#-showing how she ''wasnt like them'')#which. I'm not denying you the view that spoiler has a certain genderific swag to her but the needless dragging of her batgirl persona #steph got treated badly as spoiler bc she was A Girl. it's genuinely that simple dixon felt batman and robin would never stand for a girl-#-running around doing the things they did and would need to chivalrously stop her. he's gone on record saying this #she's constantly getting belittled by mostly men (cass also dismisses her but it feels distinctly less gendered)#and in the end it's barbara who learns to give steph a second chance despite her mistakes and they have a positive relationship #something ppl are quick to dismiss as being in and of itself sexist bc they're pairing the two girls off together #as if batgirl isn't a legacy and as if babs and steph don't have parallels in their resilience and refusal to accept when ppl tell them no #for better and for worse!!#like. idk how you took the strongest feminist element in that comic (bc there are elements of sexism here and there! 2009 n all)#and somehow turn it into ''heteronormativity'' YOU PPL ARE JUST SAYING WORDS AT THIS POINT!!!#anyway. someone take away my internet access

That post was a joke, but... Honestly? Probably at least for a while. I need a breather from it. I think I've hit a point where I just don't take as much enjoyment from it anymore. I resonated with TRON 2.0 partly because it was a retro shooter, and I still fw it as that? You can pry the weapon sounds in that game out of my cold dead hands, lol. But I think I need a break from everything else.

I've honestly been growing uncomfortable with TRONblr for a while now. It's got a cliquey streak that people don't really address, because a lot of the drama is mostly just people whispering behind each others' backs in other apps. The fact that it's a small fandom where people know each other to be more judgemental than they let on, can make it really difficult to post about more niche topics. I don't just mean being a 2.0 blogger here; weird kinks, more exploratory meta, less popular character opinions, you name it. There's... reasons almost none of my plural Tron friends post about it on Tumblr.

And it's not something you can combat by just... All being friends and getting over it (tm). Someone who cyberstalked and doxxed me is in this fandom on Tumblr. I've got another friend who had the same thing happen to them from someone else in Tronblr. There's no amount of "sometimes you need to communicate like adults and stop holding things against people and just all hold hands and be nice to each other!" that will EVER get me to reach out to that individual again. Because of the tiny nature of the fandom, a lot of people I care about are mutuals with him. I just have to let go.

I still consider myself to be good friends with the people I know from Tronblr. But I'm mainly in contact with a lot of them through other places (like Mastodon and Discord), so I've unfollowed most of them on here. The ones I still follow, I really only follow for other things, unless they're largely a 2.0 blog.

Anyhow. You might see me around when there's more 2.0 content, but honestly? Aside from the next KA mod update, that's not happening, and we all know that.

How is your Ruin interpretation going to play out? Are you gonna stick to the canon or change it around since your endings were different from the game?

Definitely going to change it, for sure. A lot of the situations and premises are actually kinda close to what I was already planning for the series, excluding the shattered animatronics. But I'm certain I can make that work in some way

The main plot of my Ruin Au was Abbie (my OG Ruin girl) and Jaime return to the Pizzaplex to rescue Gregory from whatever predicament he got himself into, with Bonnie and Foxy as their animatronic guards (Like how Freddy was with Gregory in the OG)

With the introduction of Cassie I'll have to fudge things around, but I think my choice of using Bonnie and Foxy ended up being a weirdly accurate premonition compared to the game itself

Of course this means I need to add more chapters to Glamstars Legacy and my Ruin Au may end up being more chapters than I originally planned, maybe even longer than the original series itself
