How did the infection get defrosted and brought back to Ponyville/other pony-inhabited areas?

A little pony named Starlight Glimmer.

When Starlight went back in time to the day Rainbow Dash performed the rainboom, when she created various new realities… she also accidentally unleashed the virus that had been frozen in ice for centuries.

This wouldn’t become obvious for a long time, though. Even after all of this happened, Starlight became a friend of the Mane Six, a friend to Trixie. The school of friendship was built. Even after Cozy Glow was defeated. Everything seemed like it was going to be normal.

When everypony started getting sick, only one knew who to blame. Herself.

Starlight took Trixie with her and fled. To another time. She wishes she could have saved everyone. All of her friends. But she took the pony most important to her and is keeping her safe. Trixie, on the other hand, demands to go back home.

Her parents, her adoring fans, they need her!

But when they finally go back… the damage is done.

I’m doing a bunch of mane 6 redesigns! Here is Rarity and Rainbow Dash, who I’ve renamed Blue Moon and Bullrush. More about them below the cut :)

Blue Moon I named her this because it means the same thing as ‘rarity’ but there is a kind of whimsical element to the phrase. It also allowed me to lean into the blue moon thing with my design (blue colour and crescent horn). Her saddle is based on one of Lauren Faust's sketches of carousel couture. I really loved the more horse-like fashions of season 1, with the saddles/bridles; It's more fantastic than the human clothes they wear later on. Her cutie mark is 3 sparkles which represent her creativity as well as her ability to stand out in a crowd. 

Bullrush  I’m leaning more into the [infectious enthusiasm / breaking into pep talks / so passionate it’s annoying / totally emotion driven] side of her personality with this design. I named her after the primary school game, but bullrush can also mean “A headlong rush into something, heedless of danger” which is appropriate. She works at the Ponyville schoolhouse as coach and after school carer (instead of a weather pony turned wonderbolt like rainbow dash). Her cutie mark is a dust cloud, because she’s always running around :)

New Years Requests 3

Two requests for @fernstarsblog! A Griffon!Pinkie/Widowed!Twilight, and a Chubby Red Jasper!

In the AU, Pinkie’s egg was abandoned on the Pie’s doorstep, and they adopted her. She made friends and all that jazz that happens in canon. Meanwhile, Twilight marries Flash Sentry, who has a heart condition, and sadly passes away. Twilight is devastated, and Pinkie tries to cheer her up. This leads to Romancing, and eventually Pudding Pie! He’s a comedian and advocate for mixed-species kids and couples.

The Jasper was one of the last harvested from Earth, before the Diamond Blast. His smaller size isn’t too unusual amongst their group - a few other Jaspers in his Squadron are overcooked, skinny, or otherwise off-color. However, their calm demeanor keeps the rest of their squad in check, so his Agate keeps him as a right-hand gem of sorts. The whole Squadron is very happy when the Diamonds dissolve their tyranny, and Cherry keeps their Agate around - he’s always considered her a good one.

listen i dont normally take requests but anon...you have no idea how much i absolutely live and breathe cringe. i got so excited when i saw this in my inbox. OF COURSE i made a whole au

(i have to thank my friends for helping me flesh this au out with their amazing ideas. i was stuck on what to do with adrien's cutie mark for the longest time!)

marinette is a pegasus and adrien is a unicorn! marinette has a lot of energy and would be buzzing around all over the place all the time. she is almost always flying! her wings are small, so she has to flap them really fast to stay afloat (like a bug's wings!) her special talent is designing, so i based her cutie mark off of the plum blossoms on her shirt and added a ladybug and sewing needle. though she doesn't have the aid of telekinesis like a unicorn would, she doesn't let that stop her from creating amazing art and clothing!

adrien comes from a long line of regal unicorns and is tall and lanky. he is unfortunately a blank flank even as a teenager due to the fact that he has not had the chance to explore many interests yet from his strict upbringing. he is a little insecure about it but he tries not to let it get to him, especially since his makeup team does a pretty good job of applying a fake one because it would be "unfortunate for the brand" if gabriel agreste's son still had not received his cutie mark as such a late age! not even his friends know he is a blank flank...not yet, at least. he does not like the fake cutie mark.

his father does put him into a lot of studies, including magic studies. adrien is a pretty skilled magic user but it's not his passion. he doesn't discover his true passion until after he meets marinette and his other friends.

the miraculous are still a thing in this au. adrien/chat noir wears his ring on his horn! when they're transformed, they become temporary alicorns, gaining a magic-based horn for ladybug and wings for chat noir.

one of my favorite headcanons for adrien's future career is that he finds a love for baking, so i used that here!!! when baking with marinette one day he discovers that baking is his special talent and he really, really loves it, earning his cutie mark (a cupcake in chat noir colors) a moment later :') they are both VERY excited! adrien would come clean about the fake cutie mark to the public and would become an advocate for blank flanks everywhere, reminding ponies that it's okay to take their time to figure themselves out and to not try and pressure themselves into finding their special talent when it's not the right time, because it will come eventually.

How Finite is Love?

This is a short little piece set in @shirecorn‘s super cool mlp AU! This is just a first pass at it, I’ll definitely refine it if I post it to a fic site. I just HAD to get this out though, the au hits all my sweet spots!

Shining Armor considers the ponies he loves, and how a mortal pony can love goddesses.

Shining Armor held no resentment towards his two favourite mares. It wasn't their fault. They had no choice. Shining wasn't certain he believed in destiny, but whatever happened to his wife and baby sister sure was close.

First it was his wife, and that he could handle. She was an adult. They had fallen in love in highschool, they had grown together, Shining knew how strong Cadance was. If anypony deserved ascension, it was her.

If anypony could weather this, it was them.

He loved his wife with every bone in his body, every fiber of his being, every ounce of magic he could channel. And he knew she felt the same. If she didn't... this never would have happened.

Can love be a curse? Can loving somepony too much damn your soul? Can it save it?

About a month after Cadance gained her horn, Shining Armor decided dwelling on these questions wasn't helpful, and the answers didn't matter. He loved Cadance, and Cadance loved him. He couldn't change the past, wasn't sure if he even would -- but he was dead set on building a happy future.

At least as happy as he could give her. He couldn't guarantee that the love his mortal body held would last into her infinity, but he was determined to try.

He hoped it wouldn't destroy her to leave him behind, when the time came.

He loved her too much for that.

He had celebrated when The Sun took notice of Twilight.

The young stallion was oblivious to the looks of quiet worry on his parents' faces, the body language that said they were resigned to a cautious optimism. How could the attention of the source of Equestrian life bring anything but fortune?

He wasn't yet old enough to have heard the whispers. The old fables weren't circulated in school for fear of divine retribution, and Shining Armor was not as studious as his sibling.

Now?

Had he the power, he would have torn The Sun from the sky.

His baby sister, the sweetest and most sensitive mare he had ever known, damned to an eternity of watching her friends die.

She was a child (she was older than Cadance had been) she needed protection (she had brought down false gods) she wasn't ready (The Sun had learned from its mistakes, this new goddess was more than prepared).

She needed him.

Didn't she?

(She did, once.)

He was proud of her, of course. And if he had been watching for the signs, he wouldn't have been surprised.

Twilight Sparkle had always had an innate love for those around her. Before she had locked herself away in that tower amongst the tomes, she had been a kind filly. And even then, she had never quite managed to harden her heart.

She was still openly affectionate with him, with Cadance, with Twilight Velvet and Night Light. She shared her knowledge with them because it was how she said 'I love you.'

Leave it to a goddess to exploit that trait.

When Shining managed to find time to talk with his Twily after she had earned her wings, she had said her job as goddess was 'to spread the knowledge of friendship' and to teach others what friendship truly meant. She sounded excited, happy. She had found a purpose for her research.

Shining Armor wasn't sure if his baby sister hadn't yet considered the consequences of eternal life, or if it simply didn't bother her. He didn't ask.

He realized that while she was still his Twily, and would be until the day he died, she was more. She was Ponyville's friend. She was Celestia's Twilight Sparkle.

She was Equestria's new goddess.

He renewed his vow to remain her BBBFF forever, to keep her safe from turmoil and danger.

He swallowed down his anger and despair that night, in favour of his inevitable role as protector. He had his cutie mark, and he knew what it meant.

Shining Armor loved the mares in his life, and he would go to the ends of Equestria to keep them safe and happy, whether they needed him or not.

He was glad, at least, that they would have each other.

QSMP MLP AU REAL?????

I've been seeing a whole lotta Qsmp x MLP talk recently and since I'm in the process of rewatching seasons 5 to 9 of MLP friendship is magic it got my brain gears turning and I just couldn't help myself from writing this down :,D

I think it's obvious that the Cucuruchos and The Watcher would be alicorns. Both cucuruchos would have cutie marks reining over perfection and happiness, respectively, while I think The Watcher would probably be something like chaos (now that I'm thinking about it, the two perfectly contradict each other, don't they??) or madness

Madagio would also probably be an alicorn, though I don't know what his special talent/cutie mark would entail. The Enderking would maybe be the dead ghost of an alicorn? I don't think there are any gods in mlp (though I guess that's what au's are for) besides Discord, and we all know what Discord's like, mismatched and stuff and more like a serpent

Here is a redesign and a Backstory to Opaline

the one on the left is Opaline, she's a Pony/Goat Hybrid and she is the daughter of grogar

while the one on the right is her mum, a alicorn princess named princess Cherĩ Hana (Cherry Blossom) of the pony version of japan named Umapan and when grogar took over before gusty stopped him, he captured all the ponies of umapan and locked Cherry Blossom in her room where he did abusive things to her.

2 weeks later and Grogar was defeated by gusty by stealing his bell and using his magic agents him but the damaged was done to cherry and a month after he was gone, she finds out she was pregnant

she decides to keep the baby and at first after opaline was born, she loved her but then when opaline got older, the goat/alicorn hybrid became more and more evil as she was getting dreams at night of her dad telling her to join his side and she was falling for them, when opaline was 10, cherry had to banish her out of town after she serverly harmed a pony during a parade of grogar's defeat 11 years ago

opaline traveled around equestria for years and years until she found ponyville and does a plan to make all the ponies species to hate each other, it doesn't work as twilight who had been princess of equestria for a year at this point seals opaline away in a powerful gemstone so she will never be released.

but the problem is now opaline has been rereleased by a follower of her named ragnarok the centaur who is also a 3rd cousin to tirek and they are planning to release tirek, cozy glow and chrysalis and take over equestria once and for all.

so that's the story and i hope you like it 😁 all see you all soon 😋

Alright so I’ve finally finished all of Make Your Mark on Netflix (I have no interest in Tell Your Tale) and, well… I certainly have thoughts. Unfortunately I felt MLP G5 (even including A New Generation) was pretty weak. I don't HATE G5 of course, but it certainly has problems. Not counting the ton of continuity errors and plot holes and retcons from G4, most of the episodes + specials on their own I found flat and boring.

And yes I KNOW that G5 deserves to be its own thing and shouldn’t rely 100% on G4’s popularity but come on… a sequel series still needs SOME connection to its predecessor, and G5 has so little of it?? And the worst part is that the super sparse FIM references were for legal reasons, which makes me even wonder why bother setting it in the same universe as G4 instead of just making a complete reboot. And yes I’ve heard that the G5 comics actually go deeper into the lore, but important worldbuilding details should be included in the show proper, not in supplemental materials. 

So yeah, that only inspired me to make even more changes for my MLP next gen AU. Starting with a bunch of different ideas I have for Opaline. More details about my revamped design and backstory for her under the cut

First off, her canon design is way too gaudy and takes away a lot of her intended scare factor, so I redesigned her with multiple variants. For all versions I removed her blue eyeshadow and the braids around her ears (too ridiculous-looking and difficult for me to draw), and made her hair a bit more asymmetrical. 

As for my version of her backstory, rather than Opaline being over a thousand years old and having known Celestia and Luna when they were fillies, I made Opaline a former student of Twilight who became her successor as the next Alicorn Princess. Only Opaline didn't do a great job as a ruler which caused Twilight to drain her of her magic and banish her to the outskirts of Equestria.

But after Twilight died of old age (don't ask me why Twilight didn't find a new successor, still working that out) the magic shield locking Opaline outside Equestria faded and allowed her back in. So she was the one who caused disharmony between ponies all over again (yeah kind of a repeat of the Nightmare Moon situation but), and additionally kidnapped Misty as a filly to use her as a spy and do tasks to help Opaline get her powers back, including her wanting to steal dragon fire to become a fire Alicorn like in canon.

Made this change for two reasons 1) the whole “ancient villain who knew Celestia and Luna back in the day escaped now and is planning to wreak havoc on modern Equestria” has been done a hundred times already in FIM, let a new villain form literally during Twilight’s reign 2) it would keep the rejection aspect of Opaline's canon backstory but give her more personal beef with Twilight which is why Opaline targets her

so my AU wouldn't just have all ponies restore unity and then have Opaline just come as a threat right after like A New Generation + Make Your Mark did. Achieving harmony between pony AND non-pony kind would be done over the course of a series and not just one movie, with Equestria being restored + Misty being freed after Opaline's defeat. The Unity Crystals still play a role in my AU, with Twilight having created them as a new alternative to the Elements of Harmony rather than just a macguffin to stop Opaline specifically.

Also if it were up to me I like my #3 redesign the best, the blue hues would probably fit the best for a fire-based villain (fire being blue when it's hottest and all) but that depends on if/when I wanna draw my AU Opaline in the future

I sighed as I leaned against the counter, the 2 hour mark coming up for the pregnancy test. I hadn't even consulted Darry when I bought the stupid thing but I needed to know because I had already missed my period. The damn test took so long but it would be worth it. Beep, beep, beep.... My small baking timer chirped. I grabbed the time and turned it off before turning to look at the little box, hoping to see the brown circle on a yellow background. I said a silent prayer to whatever was up there before I looked at the mirror. It was right there, the brown circle telling me that I was carrying for two. "Well... Darry did it." I hummed as I kept looking at the mirrored box. I sighed and grabbed the box, walking it to our shared room so I could put it on our bed before I started dinner. I fixed the room up before walking to the kitchen. After two hours, I had a nice dinner enough to feed an army. I knew who would be here, first to last. It was always Two-bit first because he worked around a bit. Then Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally; they always traveled in a group after what happened with Bob. Sodapop, Steve, and Darry would be home last because Darry always picked up the two best friends from their jobs. Just as I started to put the dinner rolls in the oven, the train of people started coming in all in the order I predicted. Two-bit came in, said hello, grabbed a beer, and walked to the living room to watch Mickey. When I started the french onion soup, Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally walked in. Pony gave me a hug, Johnny nodded his head softly, and Dally waved hello before joining Tow-bit in the living room. When I pulled the dinner rolls out of the oven, the final three walked in. Sodapop nodded tiredly, Steve grabbed a beer and smiled, and Darry came up behind me and gave me a kiss. He squeezed my hips before walking to our room to get changed out of his work clothes. I simply smiled and waited for him to find the test sitting on our bed as I got everyone served. "Darling, what's this?" Darry asked as he walked into the kitchen holding the pregnancy test in his hand, confused since it was a newer model of a pregnancy test. I shrugged, handed him a bowl of hot soup with a dinner roll, and kissed him. "Show it to Pony or Sodapop, they'll know what it is Pumpkin." I laughed as I sat down at the dinner table with the rest of the gang, smiling as I watched Darry with a grin while eating my own soup. Sodapop and Pony looked up from their separate conversations. Darry set the box on the table before sitting next to me to eat a hot meal. Dally, Sodapop, Ponyboy, and Two-bit all focused on the test; you could've heard a spoon drop. I sipped on my water before I heard Soda speak in a nonchalant tone. "So... am I gettin' a niece or a nephew?" Darry choked for a moment and coughed before speaking up. "Come again?" Darry asked as he looked at Sodapop, confused about what he just said. Soda shrugged before Pony spoke up, laughing before explaining. "Darry, that's one of 'em new at home pregnancy tests. It's sold at drug stores and I think I saw a few at the DX yesterday." Darry looked over at me shocked. I shrugged again and kept eating my dinner, knowing he'll need a minute.

pony!jim's name is silver spring, toby's is butterscotch beryl, and claire's is violet night! silver and beryl's nicknames for each other are silv and bear <3 and violet cals beryl BB lmao

aaarrrgghh and blinky probably just keep their canon names because. idk it fits

headcanon (does it count as a headcanon if its MY au?) that aaarrrgghh has distant gargoyle ancestry, hence his scorpan-like mane and tiny wings

silver's special talent is probably either cooking-related, knife/swordplay related, or dragonhunter-specific. maybe he thinks its cooking and is confused about why he has no cutiemark, then gets his cutiemark when he finds the dragonhunter amulet? theres probably a lot of internal conflict to be had there, since thats just one more indisputable piece of evidence that being dragonhunter is the one thing silver is meant to do with his life.

beryl, on the other hand, got his cutiemark VERY early on in life. he likes rocks, man

i havent drawn her yet, but violet's special talent is probably either theater or shadow magic.
