It would be over a year before I even saw my first website in a graphical browser which is when I realized that h1 would look bigger than h2. I wrote my whole page in a single line of HTML because I was worried about line endings. #xoxofest #myfirstwebsite

Ireland’s review website Joe
I love rugby as I said, and I love Joe... it’s just a great website, full of fun, enjoyment and great reviews about all the major sporting events, most notably Irish rugby.
Now, while I’m in Singapore I want to start my own website, but even though I work for Apple, I’m in customer service and a bit of technophobe, so I need some help.
Ok, so I already chose the name... Billsbestreviews.com
I have a designer ready to start designing it...
Now I need website hosting, and I want it in Asia. Now I read a few posts online about good hosting companies, so I think I have that part sorted.
For my hosting I listened to these guys over at ecommerceasean.com, they seemed very knowledgeable, you can see them here
For my designs, I kind of copied a friends...
Do I need anything else?

There are easiest way to learn PHP
There are easiest way to learn PHP
1.) Setting up your server
Now that you’re all set and go, as the basics of programming goes, let’s start by creating a simple shoutout of “hello world” in our server.
First of, go to the directory where you installed your XAMPP (Commonly in C:\xampp). From there go to the htdocs folder (Commonly in C:\xampp\htdocs) and create a folder named “MyFirstWebsite”. From that part, you have now created…

The Learn As You Go Approach...um, not so much.
Jewelry for Health and Happiness is Open for Business!
Hello World!
It's me, Elizabeth Raynor, here to tell you that my very first online sales site is Open for Business! The name of my site is called; Jewelry for Health and Happiness, I know, I know, it's a really long name to have to type, trust me I figured that out after having had to type it 50 bazillion times!! If I didn't already have my biz license, trust me I would have changed it to something like; MY STORE!!!! Lesson learned...sigh
Anyway, WELCOME and come on inside and sit a spell, browse around. This is Chili P, my faithful doggy companion and best friend. She has stuck with me throughout this entire process and I have to tell you, if it wasn't for her, I wouldn't be writing this blog right now. So many times I just threw up my hands and said "that's it, I can't do this, I just can't do this!" But good old Chili P would always make me laugh and smile and make me feel better about the world and my lack of internet savvy, and I'd press on.
It was an exceptionally hard process because I knew absolutely zero about launching a site but given my set of circumstances, I really didn't have a much of a choice. I took the 'learn as I you go' approach and I have to tell you, I wouldn't recommend that approach to my worst enemy, but a woman's gotta do what a woman's gotta do!
Month 10 of unemployment was just about to rear it's ugly head and I was withdrawing way more money out of my IRA account then I was comfortable and needed to find a quick way to make some cash. Now don't you even go there!! Don't even think it!! I know where I live, but that is NOT an acceptable way for me to make money. Besides, I'm too short! haha!
Long story longer, I decided to make jewelry, which I used to do when I was a kid. It was something I used to enjoy and thought what the heck, I can sell what I made at local craft shows, flea markets etc. Wouldn't you know, the shows and flea markets in Las Vegas aren't like the ones I grew up with in the South. Oh noooo, Las Vegas has to charge not just one arm, but one arm, a leg and 3 toes to be a vendor at these shows making it too cost prohibitive for me. My inventory is not high ticket items, we're talking fashion jewelry, I called it 'Costume Jewelry' back in the day, we are not talking fine diamonds and gold, so even if I sold my entire inventory at one event, I still wouldn't have the money to cover the vendor participation fee. Of course I didn't find out this information until I had already applied for, paid for and received my business license and my Employer Tax ID number, which are required for these events.
Oh hum...so here I sat with all this inventory and all my licenses and no where to sell my jewelry. So I thought, what about the internet? Yeah, why not put up a little site, keep it up long enough to sell my inventory and if sales didn't warrant re-rorders, then just shut 'er down! I mean how hard can it be to put up a little ol' website. I mean I took a couple of online classes, how hard can this be? I wish to god someone would've come along and tazeed me into some senses! But noooooo. Had I known then what I know now...famous last words!
Still...three months ago I was like; 'I can do this!" That's what's so cool about the internet, I didn't know a thing about building a site, how to sell on line or what Google Analytics was good for! So what do I do? I Google "How to build an online sales site for beginners" and the next thing ya know Bada Bing, Bada Boom here I am! Crazy right?!?!?
Ok, ok, so my site is not the slickest one out there and I know I am way too casual and should be more professional, about it, but you know what, when I make $10,000 in a month, I'll get real professional real fast. Until then, this is just my little site where folks can come and visit, get some jewelry or some shades (coming soon!) and perhaps even a hoodie (coming soon too) to make them healthy (that's another story for another blog) and happy, all for a decent price this I feel good about and hope you do too.
So with that, I think I need to wrap this up for today. I don't have the strength to be the blogger anymore and I'm sure you don't have the strength to be the bloggee anymore either! If you stuck around to read this entire thing, your rule! 10% off you!! As soon as I can figure out how to set up a discount, I'll let you know and I'm make sure you get your coupons! heeheehhee I will...I promise!
Anywho...thanks for stopping by! Chili P and I wish nothing but good health and happiness for you and yours!
Blog to be continued...
Peace out!

Three years ago I coded the website on the left at #CoderDojo. On the right is how my website stands today and at the moment I'm busy developing a website for my college grades unit that involves users, a shopping cart and saving transactions! The difference a few years learning code can make #WebDevelopment #ComeSoFar #MyFirstWebsite

My First Blog Assignment
I have always been interested in codes and building websites but sometimes before I knew what I was doing I would accidentally pop up the design codes with no idea what most of it meant. So luckily I somewhat knew about what I was getting myself into, when I went into my web design course. After the very first day Mr. Williams had explained the codes needed and where and then let us go to make our own websites , a very ugly basic website, but it was my very own first website made from scratch.
So Mr. Williams I would love to thank you for showing me that creating a website is not as confusing or difficult as I had originally thought.

Create a website : A comparison of site building tools
A common question among our clients and friends: "I'm looking to create a website for my organization. What do you recommend to get started?"
In this post, we aim to create a resource for our friends and neighbors and to compare the most popular options for getting started on the web.
Wordpress.com
What we like
Beautiful Themes. The simplicity of WordPress attracts more designers than any other CMS available. If your organization values aesthetics and design, WordPress themes will make an impression.
User engagement & Community tools are top-notch. If user feedback and social media is important to your organization, WordPress.com provides a compelling offering of tools to 'make it happen'.
Professional Services. Design services are available to help you customize your site.
Room to Grow. If you ever find it advantageous for your organization to host your Wordpress site via another hosting provider, Wordpress.com allows for easy export of your entire site. Images, Comments, and all your Pages are easily moved to another server to host your site.
What's missing
Monetization Opportunities. If your organization is looking to sell products online, you'll need more than a Wordpress.com site. Consider using Wordpress for your organization's website and in conjunction using a dedicated e-commerce solution.
Advanced customization. Because Wordpress.com is a shared hosting environment, sites cannot be customized using Plug-ins* nor does it allow JavaScript from 3rd parties such as TypeKit, Mobify, or even Google Analytics.
* Wordpress Plug-ins can be downloaded from Wordpress.org. These plug-ins cannot be installed in a Wordpress site hosted on Wordpress.com Learn more about the relationship between Wordpress.com & Wordpress.org.
Blogger
What we like
Ease of Use. Simplicity reigns at Blogger. The capabilities of this service are easy to recognize and understand for all audiences.
Collaboration. Its easy to add other users to help you write posts and manage the comments.
What's missing
Built for Blogging. It is difficult for brands to create a web site via Blogger that doesn't appear like a blog. While capable of offering many website-like features, Blogger is still best at building blogs.
Social Tools. While available, social media tools, such as Share and Like buttons, remain limited. Features available reflect a bias toward other Google products, namely Google+.
Tumblr
What we like
Beautiful themes. Tumblr themes offer a very new, in-style look to any blog or website. Easy to customize & offer snazzy features such as infinite scrolling right out of the box
Easy media sharing. If your organization will be primarily posting photos, videos, and links to other websites, Tumblr makes it easy to do.
Free Custom Domain. If you own your own domain (ex. kevinskoffeekart.com), you can easily point your domain to your Tumblr for free.
What's missing
Social Tools. It takes a little more work to add the familiar Share and Like buttons to your posts.
Google Sites
What we like
Integration with Google Apps. Users can login with their current Google Apps account. Themes and features are geared toward the kinds of organization that use Google Apps; schools, non-profits, and the like.
What's missing
Social Media tools.
Business class themes. Themes offered fail to shine when compared to that of other services.
There are many more services out there that are worth checking out that we didn't mention. Drupal Gardens, Virb.
With what services has your organization found success?
For further guidance & strategy with any of these services, ask us a question here or, via email, say [email protected].
